Rights have been reverted and it's no longer part of the Between Breaths series! It's been re-edited with bonus material added and released again with a new title (KICKFLIP) and cover as a complete standalone--and a prequel of sorts to my Roadmap series! It will also be available in KU for the first time as well.

Kudos to Christina Lee for taking a leap into the M/M genre. I'm always worried that an author who writes primarily M/F romance won't grasp the nuances of a relationship between two men, but Lee did well developing both MCs: tattoo artist Cory and skateboarded Jude.
Cory gives off a happy, laidback vibe, but he battles demons everyday. Having inherited a short-term boyfriend's poorly trained dog, Cory does the best he can by his two pups and his grandma. He hates the rain and crushes on beautiful, aloof Jude.
Jude is a man of few words. He has things to hide and hangs around the town's motorcycle club, Disciples of the Road. But Jude is drawn to talkative Cory and the two men bond when Cory works on a large tattoo on Jude's back.
I liked the long, slow burn between the men. This is a moderately steamy story, with some sensual and tender scenes.
I liked Cory's grandma, as well as the other secondary characters, including Cory's friends Emmy and Dex, and Vaughn the bartender.
I love dogs, so having not one but three dogs in a book made me happy. Jude has a real connection with animals, and I love that in a man.
Some of the writing was a little awkward; there were a few typos, but I read an ARC, so hopefully they will be fixed in the final text.
At one point, Cory's penis is referred to as a "stiff nub." *cringes*
A nub is a short lump or protrusion and not a word anyone wants to associate with a cock. Ever.
I also wasn't sold on Jude's mysterious past. Some of the timing didn't add up for me, and the motorcycle club felt staged. Plus, I'm not one into romanticizing thugs.
Jude's story is sad and angsty, but there were a few contradictions that niggled at me, and I thought perhaps the final solution was too easy.
I could tell this book was part of a series, but it read fine as a standalone. I would be very interested in reading Vaughn and Smoke's story.
Overall, this was a pleasant read with a sweet romance and a nice HEA.

Christina’s Lee stories are always so passionate and easy to connect with. There You Stand is no exception. Like in every previous book in Between Breathes Series, the main characters were realistic, and the whole plot was pretty well thought of. I had much fun while reading it! Even though Cory’s story is completely different from other Christina’s books, as it’s M/M romance, the author easily captured the passion between two guys. Just like with her heterosexual couples the sexual chemistry was blazing!
I admit, I was a little bit afraid that the author won’t be able to grasp the dynamics of M/M relationship and things will come out flat. As it’s usually hard for authors who write M/F stories to jump on the other side of the fence. Fortunately, Christina Lee’s done solid job and There You Stand has perfectly developed characters with strong, intense relationship.
I said, pointing my finger at him. “So stop looking at me that way.”
“How am I looking at you, Cory?” he whispered in such a seductive voice, my dick sprang to attention of its own volition.
I lowered my head to his. “Like you want to eat me with a spoon.”
His lip quirked at the corner. “Maybe I do.”
Cory seems like a laidback guy. An easygoing, always smiling tattoo artist. Yet, he hides variety of demons behind his charming persona. He’s been through some hard times but doesn’t let it show. He likes to pretend to be ‘cool’ and ‘relaxed’.
Jude on the other hand is a broody loner. He’s a man who says little, and almost never laughs. But somehow those two man bond over a tattoo and they find themselves drawn to each other.
I unconditionally adored Jude and Cory. What a great pair!
If you like new adult romances with gay couples, this will be definitely something you are looking for. It’s sexy, it’s funny and it’s definitely heartbreaking at times. The heroes are swoon worthy, admirable and will make you grin.
Overall, the whole book is really pleasant, sexy experience; just enough to make you go crazy and reach the end with a smile. I highly recommend it!

One of the few Christina Lee books I've not read, Kickflip is an interesting blend of new adult, Motorcycle Club and love after trauma.
I enjoyed pretty much all of it, it never got overly angsty, the stresses and traumas felt real and believable and I loved the UST which built up slowly between Cory and Jude.
The big dramatic moment fit the Motorcycle Club narrative and I didn't find it beyond the realms of possibility.
Loved the secondary characters and the setting and I'm planning on heading into the rest of the series after I'm done with my ARC commitments.

I admit to being a bit nervous going into this read. That being said, Christina Lee's first take at M/M was so well done that I applaud both her and her whole story start to finish!
This is the story of Cory Easton and Jude York. Two men with past tragedies that have shaped them into who they are. Cory is known for his "talking" and his big open heart. He is a loyal friend and doting grandson. Working as a tattooist, he has seen his fair share of emotional turbulence but none has him as peaked as the quiet Jude York. Jude is a British bad boy skater of sorts. Appearing in their town out of nowhere with a sketchy past he has a look to drool over.
While Cory is living everyday in physical pain from an accident that literally took everything from him, Jude is hiding in plain sight from his past as well as his present. While sneaking glances at the skate park and chasing a rogue dog fate seems to put Cory on a collision course with the silent beauty, but the small talk is minute, leaving Cory in a world of confusion and lust. Perhaps the next few weeks of private time with Jude will answer some of Cory's questions as it seems that Jude is on the schedule for a new tattoo!
What Christina Lee delivered was an emotionally tight love story shrouded in mystery and lust. Cory and Jude do a fabulous dance of attraction where there is always an edge of uncertainty yet palpable want pouring out of the pages. With visible changes in breathing, quickening pulses, and felt arousal it would seem that Cory and Jude know where the other stands! But can Jude open himself up to Cory? Is Cory strong enough to stick by a man who may be dangerous? Is either safe in each other's arms?
This was a really well written M/M romance. If you are a lover of the genre then this has enough sexy heat and intimacy to make you pant. If this is the first time experiencing the love story between two men, then you are in luck. Jude and Cory's tale is really beautiful. It has a well developed friendship that strengthens the attraction. There is angst and intimacy and again a realistic feel to them "falling." I completely enjoyed this read and highly recommend to all my reading friends!

I don’t know what I was expecting when I picked up this book, maybe some sort of Avril Lavigne’s Sk8er Boi related plot, but it was definitely not a sad skater hiding in plain sight and a thoughtful tattoo artist looking for love.
Still, I was not disappointed. Even if the skating part wasn’t as prominent as I was expecting, this was still a really sweet story with some very deep moments and a strong connection between the MCs.
The whole subplot with the motorcycle club and the action scenes were a bit out there, but still enjoyable.

For a book that has a mysterious skater with scars on his back who don't talk much, There You Stand failed to pull me in. I wonder if it's because I only 'read' this from Cory's sole perspective as a narrator, and I miss everything that happens in Jude's mind.
For example that ending, , I thought that would really be great if I *knew* what was going on the rather than just having the situation being 'reported' to me afterwards. On that note, Cory is also not a very strong narrator for me to care for his feeling.
I didn't get the importance of the motorcycle club gang in this book. Probably because I didn't read the previous books in this series, so I missed some important information. But then again, I never really attracted to MC romance in the first place *shrugs*.
It's a humdrum read for me. Sorry book.

Since I was planning to read the Roadmap to Your Heart series, I wanted to start with this book, because some characters in that series first introduced here.
As much as I like Cory and Jude, I can't say I loved the book that much.

A slow steady start filled with sexual tension and tentative chemistry allows more than ample time for our boys to meet, grow a viable realistic friendship, and eventually gain the courage to take their relationship to a new level. Intriguing subplots and interesting secondary characters takes the story beyond a simple romance; adding some delicious drama and suspense.
Lee does a fabulous job of balancing the romance with the mystery surrounding Jude. Strong writing and a steady pace allows us to follow along with no confusion. She doesn’t rush the protagonist’s relationship, allowing it to grow in a realistic manner as she slowly reveals the background information needed to understand where both men are at in their lives and the reasons they are hesitant to completely open up.

A lush and steamy sexual relationship gives us open scenes with a firm emotional base. I enjoyed that Lee doesn’t rush this aspect and use the bed as an instant solvent for Cory and Jude’s issues. There are strong external factors that complicate this relationship that demand resolution before anyone can move forward. Lee draws this particular storyline out thoroughly, giving it the seriousness it demands.
“Goddamn it, why do I have to play guessing games with you?”
“Because I don’t want your life to be in danger…simply from associating with me.”
“It’s too late, I’m already involved.”
A dynamic secondary cast brings in people from previous installments while introducing new faces. I love the camaraderie that Cory enjoys with his fellow employees. Lee gives Cory a full bodied social life that plays out well against the solitary nature of Jude’s. The inclusion of the MC is slightly predictable in the setting they are used but their characterization and actions ring true and gives clues to possible future storylines. Another M/M? We can always hope. :)
The conflict resolves easily and off-screen. I would have enjoyed more interaction with the villain . As it was, all information concerning him is second-hand so the gravity of Jude’s past and current situation didn’t flesh out as dramatically as I think Lee intended. Regardless There You Stand is an engaging story that will appeal to lovers of romance across the board. I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

This was an MM with a HEA about Cory, a tattoo artist and a somewhat mysterious guy Jude he falls for.
I really liked this one right from the start because I seem to like the writing style first of all. I like how it starts progressing slowly unlike so many in the genre. There's no too many characters to confuse you and to keep up with the names either for me. There's nothing too much or too little, nothing confusing, nothing to go back and forth for clearing up which I detest. No immediate sex scenes either. No too long descriptions. It's something that feels like real. I liked the characters and it was a pleasant read. An easy read for me. Easy to keep up with, not hard to concentrate on it.

This is the first book I have read in the series and I will say for me it was a bit overrun with characters and the action part of the plot went on a bit for me.
I liked Cory a great deal and the connection to Jude is well detailed.
I wish the action of the book was more in balanced so that the romance could have more time.

I really really liked this. Loved Jude and Cory so much. The sex was hot and the angst was right. The action plot wasn't necessarily my usual taste, but the rest of the story was just right for me. Crossover done right. Can't wait to--hopefully--see Smoke & Vaughn! If not, I'll be crushed.

I’m a big fan of the Between Breaths series, so it hurts to say this book didn’t work for me.
I figured the best way to dive into the m/m genre was to read one from an author whose books I love. There was a serious disconnect for me with this one though. The explosive chemistry and the spark between the characters that was so prevalent in the previous books, was missing from Cory and Jude’s story. I just didn’t feel the connection between these two guys.
Cory is a tattoo artist at Raw Ink and Jude is the guy he’s had his eye on for awhile. Jude spends his days at the skate park, keeps to himself and hardly utters a word. Cory has no idea if Jude would even be interest in him, or any other guy for that matter. After a series of run-ins between the two of them, Cory wants to get to know Jude even more. He has the perfect opportunity when Jude books a tattoo appointment with him.
The development of their relationship and the storyline was lacking a bit for me. Both Cory and Jude had heartbreaking pasts, but it didn’t help to cement their connection for me. When Jude’s past finally caught up to him, it was wrapped up way too easily. It all felt a little underwhelming. There were just too many things that felt off and left me wishing I had skipped this one.

I figured the best way to dive into the m/m genre was to read one from an author whose books I love. There was a serious disconnect for me with this one though. The explosive chemistry and the spark between the characters that was so prevalent in the previous books, was missing from Cory and Jude’s story. I just didn’t feel the connection between these two guys.

This book is somewhat difficult for me to review because as much as I loved Jude and Cory together, there were some things that really bothered me about their relationship as well.
Cory's a tattoo artist (swoon) and a dog lover (seriously!) and he's got a wandering eye for skater boy Jude. Cory's past is full of sorrow and death, making him skittish around letting someone in.
Jude is an enigma. He's so bottled up, tense and seemingly mute. His world has been unraveling for years and allowing anyone to get close could risk both their lives.
Sometimes, the pull is too rough and you can't fight fate.
Christina Lee can write longing and romance, no question. I felt the need and despair between Cory and Jude. The heat and attraction. The fear. I loved the descriptions of their feelings and the emotions they shared together.
I didn't love the beginning of the story. It was difficult for me to get into when Jude was so cut off and angsty. I also didn't fully understand the motorcycle gang and their influence on the relationship between Cory and Jude.
The writing was gorgeous, the boys were lovely and broken and perfect for each other. Overall, the story was an enjoyable read.

I just want to hug these guys, how can I make that happen???
So many feelings, so much sexual tension, so much heartache! Ms. Lee really knows how to pull at my heartstrings- Cory and Jude’s story was so touching and emotional, I really wanted to whisk them away from the world.
Cory was a master of disguise, hiding his loneliness behind laughter and keeping busy. Jude was such an enigma to start, it was hard to get a feel for him until Cory was able to break down his walls. I loved seeing Cory and Jude open up to each other, how they learned to trust.

Good story, interesting characters but if you were wanting a strictly m/m romance it would be lacking a bit. The writing was very good, however I was missed the "feels" and connection between these two guys. For all the drama and heartache these boys had been through, I would have thought I'd be an emotional mess but I kept feeling a bit underwhelmed. Overall, this is a low angst story with an interesting plot, some heartache, low/moderate steam and would be great for someone wanting to get their toes wet in the m/m genre.

Cory thinks skateboarding is an extreme sport, making Jude a daredevil for doing kickflips.

Anyways; Jude and Cory are adorable plus there was some mystery to this which was pretty cool.

A pleasant read & a sweet romance.

This certainly wasn't the worst I've read as a MF writer's debut in the MM genre, but it's so far from the best, they're not even in the same galaxy. I'm going to mentioned briefly what I did like about this story, because unfortunately it'll only take a minute.
I liked the dogs! The dogs played a big role for me when I had to make the decision to DNF this book or keep on reading. I loved their innocence and their mischief (yes Chopper, you rock!).
I liked the fact that Jude was so good with handling the dogs, kinda like a dog whisperer, it was probably the only thing I liked about Jude, so it was worth mentioning. And I also liked Cory's grandma and his friends at the tatoo parlor.
Now moving on to what didn't work for me.
1. The plot! This was a total mess! It made a little bit of sense but the execution was horrendous. Add to that the local motorcycle club gang, and it was totally overdone. Plus, I didn't buy the fact that WITSEC dumps their protegees into the care of a gang that's up their eyebrows into illegal dealings, in exchange of overlooking those said dealings.
On top of that, when everything came crashing like I knew it would, it was rushed, everything happened in a few pages, and the dramatic factor made it laughable. Really, I was laughing out LOUD, I couldn't help it!
2. Jude. I didn't like Jude, not at the beginning, not half way, and not at the end, even though by that time he started behaving less like an ass. I just didn't get the opportunity to get warmed up to him. He was fucking rude! Jude likes to keep to himself (read as WILL NOT EVEN SAY HI IF YOU'RE NOT ONE OF HIS GANG OR ONE OF HIS SKATERS). He's a man of such few words, that when people talk to him about important stuff, like a tattoo that was going to be permanent on his back, he either ignores them or will shake his head for yes or no. *SNORT*! Really? What is he, a child raised in the motherfucking jungle? I understand he was wary of trusting strangers, given his past, but to intentionally not talk to people who are talking to you, that's plain ASSHOLENESS! (that's probably not even a word, but whatever)
Cory had to play TRUE or FALSE to get Jude to answer any of his questions, because like I said, Jude wasn't capable of more than the sparse YES or NO. *Insert double eye-roll.*
I was nearly out of ideas. So I took another shot because I had nothing to loose.---> YES, WRONG WORD. it's LOSE not LOOSE!!!
“True or false¸” I said, attempting to flip my Q&A to a playful mode. “You want to have a conversation with me but something is holding you back.”
“True or false: You’re afraid you’ll start liking me.”
His jaw fell open and I realized that I might’ve pushed him too far. Fuck me and my big mouth.
“As a buddy,” I added, to cover up my mistake. “A mate.”
3. Cory.
Cory was like a teenage girl for the first half of the book. Really, the way he was thinking and talking.... I hate when the authors can't make the distinction between a man and "chick with a dick", because Cory was definitely the latter.
I gave Chopper a good treat for actually being the catalyst that got Jude York to utter his first words to me. And what amazing words they were.
“Aren’t you an artist at Raw Ink?”
And then, “Cory.”
In that beautiful English accent that glided over my skin like fingers.
"I decided to go for honesty instead of asking him to get the fuck off my table and walk the hell out. Besides, what did I have to lose?
“Silence gives me too much time to think,” I said. “And there are just some things I don’t want to think about.”
Again with the gaping, except his eyes had softened.
I had just shared something with him. Something fucking big. *SNORT*
“I thought you could use the rest,” Jude said after tearing his eyes away from my bare midriff. Instinctively I raised my hand to my chest, maybe in a lame attempt to cover up, and his gaze followed my fingers. Yep, go on, cover your imaginary boobs Cory!
And those true or false questions??? Just like in middle school, but instead of circling on a paper the answer, here is asked in the form of a game that all grown up men play. Sorry, my sarcasm is making itself known, but I can't help it.
4. Cory
Yes I know I wrote Cory at #3, but I disliked him that much. His dog Chopper was so misbehaved with Cory, doing what ever he wanted because he was the boss, not Cory. And all I could think about was Chopper was in immediate need of some behavioral training, that Cory could definitely afford.... I mean he wore all designer clothes, and shoes and shades, why not invest in his dog's training.
5. The bike gang..... they were mostly ridiculous. I don't know why, maybe because I'm not one who finds gangstas attractive, but I thought they were pretty self-important. And their rescue operation at the end was rushed and skimmed over.
This book obviously didn't work for me but at least the sex was somewhat decent. Plus, there was some chemistry between Jude and Cory, too bad it was overshadowed by shallow, insufferable characters.
I would maybe like to read a follow up book between Smoke and Vaughn because as much as I criticized this book, I believe in giving an author a second chance.

This series just knocks my socks off with each new installment and this one is no exception. Emotional, intense, suspenseful and passionate cover to cover. And if that doesn't sell it then throw in a tatted up skater and tattoo artist that both ride bikes and own some adorable dogs. Can't honestly think of a downside to this one and I willingly let it tie me up in knots over these two broken souls who can't do love the easy way.
This is part of the Between Breaths series, but like the others it could be read out of order or as a standalone if necessary. Characters from the previous book are very present, but the story lines are all separate.
Cory is one of the artists at Raw Ink and he loves the people he works with, but lately it has been hard watching them start to find their special someones and pair off. He had that once and lost it, but the pain is still there. Lately, his interest has perked up again for a guy totally off limits- the much whispered about, mysterious and silent skater, Jude York. Cory encounters him around town and knows the intense guy works at the skate shop next to the biker bar where Cory goes to relax and talk bikes with the hard biker group that hang out there. Oh he knows the local MC owns the bar, but it beats all the gay bars where he would just be hooking up or the other bars where all the college crowd hangs. But Jude, Cory wants to know him and get past all the rumors that he doesn't quite believe though the ties to the local biker club and the need to stay below radar make him wonder. Fortunately, his rascally new adopted dog helps him out there by tangling him up with Jude every chances the dog gets. Cory's attempts to talk to Jude are repulsed and then Jude asks for Cory to do a special tattoo for him.
Slowly Jude let's Cory in even as Cory opens up his own painful secrets to Jude. It is tentative and slow and doesn't stand a really good chance of happening because Jude's secrets are big. Cory's biggest fear is that Jude will be like so many others and leave him after Cory has opened his heart again. And because of the trouble in Jude's life, he just might have to.
The story is told entirely from Cory's perspective and I thought that was a brilliant move on the author's part. It leaves Jude shadowy and mysterious so that the reader, like Cory, can only guess at what he's thinking until he speaks. Unlike previous books, this one has a lot of suspense and a danger element to it. Jude's near silence and the uncertainty about his sexual orientation make the romantic connection and development an interesting one. And just as an aside, may I say that the author did a bang up good job of writing a same sex romance that rivals her usual fair. These were two guys and they acted like two guys. Some authors can't pull that off, but this was nicely done.
As to the characters, it felt like these two were on a hostile, then parallel and then finally a journey together as they grew in their own rights before growing closer together. I loved all the settings that they moved through from the camaraderie at the tattoo shop, to the park where Jude skated and Cory ran, to the lakeside where Jude fished, to bikes, to MC biker bar, to time with Cory's grandma. It was fun flitting from scene to scene with them. So much more than a romance, but a very powerful romance.
Before I could clamp it down, the irritation boiled deep in my gut. "Why is talking so damn hard for you?"
His eyebrows shot together. I'd gotten a reaction from him. Good.
His gaze soldered to mine, and I nearly lost myself in its intensity. "Why is silence so bloody hard for you?"
I nearly swallowed my tongue. Not only had he been paying attention, but now he sounded annoyed. Well that made two of us. Loc 480 Cory and Jude from There You Stand
All in all, an absolutely fabulous story that will be one of my favorites for the year and affirms the strength of this series. This individual book I would recommend for those who like deeply moving, heartwarming M/M New Adult Contemporary Romance (the rest of the series is m/f NA CR).

My Thoughts:
The Between Breaths Series is such a great New Adult Romantic Series. I would recommend all of these books. They are entertaining, fast-paced, have just the right amount of angst and light heartedness, depth, and excellent fully developed characters. I have been a fan of Corey Easton's, since I was first introduced to him. I am so happy that he finally got his own story!
Corey works at Raw Ink and has a passion for his career as a tattoo artist. While his closest friends are his co-workers, he is still lonely. The only living relative that he has left is his Grandma, and he is really close to her. He's had a rough road as far as relationships are concerned, and is tired of one night stands.
Corey notices the uber sexy, gorgeous, newcomer Jude York right away. He constantly runs in to Jude in his small town. Jude is a talented skater. He is very shy, mysterious, and a man of few words. Cory is pretty sure that Jude is straight, but he can't help but crush on him. When Jude makes appointments for Corey to give him a large tattoo over several sessions, they start to get to know one another better, sparks fly, and feelings grow. However, there are rumors surrounding Jude being connected to a local MC, and being dangerous. What is Jude hiding, and can Corey trust him with his heart?
The beginning of There You Stand was slow moving. Initially, I had trouble connecting with Jude, because I was getting frustrated about how he avoided answering Corey's questions. It drove me crazy. I thought a dual perspective would have worked better, so that I could get in to Jude's head, and know what he was thinking. Then, I realized why Ms. Lee wrote the story the way she did. The revelations and plot twists would not have worked as well with both perspectives. About a third of the way in to the story, and the pace picked up! Then, the story flew by!
I loved learning about Jude little by little. The slow-building friendship and romance between Corey and Jude made everything so much more believable, special, and intense. The sex scenes were very detailed, and frequent once they began. However, there was a lot of emphasis on emotional intimacy, trust, and Jude and Corey opening up and taking a chance on love as well.
Dog lovers will really enjoy this book. We get to learn about Corey's dogs antics, especially, Chopper! Grandma was a great character. I cherished the scenes where Corey spent time with her, and then introduced her to Jude. They had such a strong, and loving bond, which reminded me of the way I am with my grandparents.

I thought a dual perspective would have worked better, so that I could get in to Jude's head, and know what he was thinking. Then, I realized why Ms. Lee wrote the story the way she did. The revelations and plot twists would not have worked as well with both perspectives. About a third of the way in to the story, and the pace picked up! Then, the story flew by!
I loved learning about Jude little by little. The slow-building friendship and romance between Corey and Jude made everything so much more believable, special, and intense. The sex scenes were very detailed, and frequent once they began. However, there was a lot of emphasis on emotional intimacy, trust, and Jude and Corey opening up and taking a chance on love as well.
Dog lovers will really enjoy this book. We get to learn about Corey's dogs antics, especially, Chopper! Grandma was a great character. I cherished the scenes where Corey spent time with her, and then introduced her to Jude. They had such a strong, and loving bond, which reminded me of the way I am with my grandparents.

I wanted to read There You Stand because I have enjoyed all of the other books by the author Christina Lee that I have read so far. I like her writing style as well as the romances and characters that she crafts.
The main character Cory is easy to like. He had some rough stuff in his past, including losing his lover in a motorcycle crash. But he has started working at raw ink with some of the characters from the companion novels. He keeps busy to keep from thinking about his loss of live as well as most of his family. Besides his voice and out going personality, what endeared him to me the most was his close relationship with his grandma. He works about her health and she is always an open ear for him and encouraging him too find a nice guy. She has always been open to him being gay and always supportive. I has a really close knit bonds with my grandma and she also had a huge role in my life helping to raise me and being my number one fan.
He has been crushing on the mysterious new guy to town Jude. He is extremely quiet and has quite the rumor mill that followed him into town. Cory has two dogs and walks them pretty much daily. On his route is the place where Jude skates all of the time. They get a crash introduction with Cory's hyper dog chopper who took an immediate liking to Jude.
Cory feels instant sparks but he doesn't know if he is imagining the connection because no word of Jude's sexual preference was included in the rumors. But the two keep running into each other, at the motorcycle bar, when Jude comes into the shop to get Cory to tattoo his back. Which turns out to be covered in scars which is the first clue we get into the truth of his troubled past.
Of course the chemistry builds but it is slower because not only is Jude quieter, he also is not wanting to bring Cory into his trouble. But the more they talk and keep finding each other, the more it is obvious that Cory isn't the only one feeling the attraction. This one is definitely up there on the scorching hot scale and though this isn't my first lgbtq novel, I do think it is most descriptive in the bedroom.
They end up sharing their losses and Jude certainly had good reason for keeping to himself until he was sure because I didn't see the depth and complexities of his situation coming though I did guess some of the details.
I was happy with the way their story ended and though I wouldn't mind another story on them I feel like the plot was pretty tied up and left them at a good place.
Bottom Line: Scorching hot addition to series with two more characters I enjoyed.

I have read the first couple of Christina's books in this series, so I was very excited that an author I loved so much tackled a genre I love so much, M/M. I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into this story, and I wasn't disappointed! Christina did an awesome job. I love broken characters and she loves to write about them, and she does it so well.
Both Cory and Jude are a little broken, well maybe a lot broken. They are drawn to one another, Cory tries to engage and draw him out, but Jude pushes him away at every turn. The chemistry between Jude and Cory was phenomenal. The sexual tension palpable. I felt the passion and love they had for one another come off the pages of this book. The author did an amazing job with this pairing.
The story was well written, and flowed well. It moves at a good pace and kept me intrigued and turning the pages. It had a little of everything, romance, love, heartbreak, mystery and suspense all wrapped up nicely with some hot and passionate man on man action.
These characters are both likeable and my heart broke for them, especially Jude. To hear the things he suffered in his past was just heart-wrenching. I just wanted to reach out and hug him. Tell him it would all be okay.
This story held me captivated from the time I opened the book until I got to the end. I wasn't ready for it to be over. Christina left me wanting more, in a good way. I hope this isn't her one and only foray into the M/M genre!

I love the characters Christina creates. Bennett was my first - he was so sweet. And now I've got Jude and Cory.
If you read the blurb you know this is M/M. For me love is love, romance is romance.
How loud did I squee when I found out Jude is British and from Yorkshire, just like me? Jude was a lovely tortured soul who was reluctant to share his story. Boy did he have a way with dogs - a proper dog whisperer. In my head Jude is Heath Ledger (God bless him) around the time of Knight's Tale. I even found a picture of Heath with a skate board.
Cory, another sad soul. He dotes on his grandma, dotes on his dogs and still misses his first love. His breath is taken away by Jude.
"His voice startled me again. It was like living for years without the sound of rain. That first downpour was noisier and more breathtaking than you ever imagined."
"When you're around, that quiet stillness inside me doesn't feel so lonely."
Two lost souls. I was rooting for them to be ok. There are shadows on the horizon that threaten their future happiness.

I believe this is Christina's first MM story, and though I read some of her newest books (and loved it), Kickflip held my attention. I love stories about broken men and their secrets.
And as a newbie in MM world (we have to look backward), Christina wrote MM really good, especially the dynamic and chemistry in MM that not everyone can do.
Cory and Jude started their 'relationship' with a dog. And we know that dogs are the best medium to start a relationship, huh?
Especially when Jude was really good with a wild dog that Cory cannot really understand how to tamed.
The dynamic between Cory and Jude ran smoothly with tattoo and all.
This is actually a very sweet story, with low to medium angst that I preferred.

What I liked about this book were the two main characters. They were cute together.
There were some aspects of the story that I found hard to take seriously and ultimately didn't like, such as certain things from Jude's past, the motorcycle club and the drama at the end. But that's just my personal preference.
