Another great read, with action; humor; a deepening romantic relationship (M/M); friendship, and conflict eroding a former trust; and Tony's bot "kids" delightfully stretching their wings into artistic endeavor.

Excerpted and edited from the somewhat spoiler-y comment I posted at the end of the fic:
I absolutely endorse Defenders over “Avengers”. The whole ending left me with a big, happy smile — kind of like Manhattan after *g* I wonder what the next day’s newspapers said!

The Pepper stuff was frustrating and sad, but fits plausibly with the mess of IM3, and cheers to Tony for standing up for his right to self-determination and respect.

I think the portrayal of Steve Rogers as being kept ignorant of the modern world by SHIELD in order to maintain loyalty and control, and the near-disastrous consequences of that ignorance, is also quite plausibly done. It ends on a hopeful, understanding note, though.

No, this fic is unlikely to please either Team Cap (including U.N. oversight as part of the happy ending) or Pepper devotées (she's "losing the plot" after losing her ultimatum gamble).

I like the honest talk Tony has with Rhodey, discussing, among other things, the mistakes they both made while Tony was dying.

Bruce gets his Betty back, and seems to be communicating better with the Hulk (the scene of Hulk in the alley with the robots is one I wish someone would illustrate!), both of which I appreciate.

Hawkeye has only a minor, if balanced, role, focusing most on his grief over supposedly-dead Phil. Natasha's and Fury's deceitful, manipulative instincts and methods get short shrift, though, since they're offensively obvious to both Sentinel (sensory) and Guide (empathic) methods of perception.

There's plenty of movie-type plottiness, too, with a kidnapping and a robot attack, both involving hazardous Sentinel countermeasures.

Overall, reading this for a second time (once again, I'm belatedly GR shelving a fanfic author) just confirmed how much I like it (and incidentally clarified in my mind one stupid minor confusion I had before, apparently due to reading too fast).

6/'22: I read it again, in what was supposed to have been just checking this site/ring for new posts or any I'd missed! It's looking like this 'verse is going to be an at-least-annual reread for me. Between bot feels, a well crafted implementation of S/G tropes, some sense re. SHIELD's follies, and the sweet-and-sexy Tony/Tony (Tony Stark/"Dominic Rossi"), it's just my jam.
