Oberon Reformatory #1

First Infraction

Rate this book
Keep your head down. Don’t make any enemies. And whatever you do, never let them see your wings.

I’ve lived my whole life in a gilded cage, protected by my family but never able to show my true face to the world. So I did what any rebellious, hot-blooded teenage faery would do—I tricked them all and took off to live my own adventure.

Too bad it ended in murder.

Now I’m locked up inside the walls of Oberon Faery Reformatory, where no one knows my true identity. Well, almost no one.

A note written by an anonymous author, calling me out for who I really am, wrecks my plans for escaping this awful place. Because if it gets out that Princess Aurora Finley Oberon was locked up for murder and has been Glamouring her true appearance her whole life, it could ruin the cohesive world my parents have worked so hard to build.

So, until I figure out who wrote this note and neutralize the threat, I have to stay here. I have to keep my true self hidden, which means no one can see my power or my wings—both of which would be a dead giveaway that I’m not the normal faery I appear to be.

I also have to keep my mind off a certain smoking-hot inmate with a huge chip on his shoulder who seems determined to knock me off my proverbial throne. Asher calls me Princess, like it’s the ultimate insult. If he only knew…

There’s something off about this place and the archaic faery who created it. I just have to figure out what it is, who wrote that note, and find a way to escape, all while resisting the magnetic pull of Asher York.

Easy, right?

After reading Oberon Academy, I just had to grab the spin off series. It was everything I loved about the first series and more. Rory is a fun and spunky main character and paired with her quirky friends and swoon worthy Asher provide for a really fun ensemble of characters. The story moves quickly and will have you flipping the pages to find out what exactly is going on at this prisonesque reform school. Don’t miss out on this one!

All I can say is WOW!! Wendi has done her usual superb job of crafting a story to draw you in like a spider to a fly! From the first words to the last she casts a magical net that holds the reader glued to the pages as the story unfolds. I probably should have stayed up all night instead of stopping for the night half-way through but it didn’t take too long to get right back to the story! In fact if you have a free afternoon and evening you can read it in one setting.

To enjoy the flavor of the book you really should read the Oberon Academy series. This book introduces Finley to her mother’s old nemesis, Tiana Avery! I’m sure there will be some fireworks in a future book when Tiana figures out who Finley’s mother really is!

Finley is out on the town trying to be just a teenager and not the future queen of the Zephyrs when something goes horribly wrong. However, that mistake puts Finley in a place where she meets first a girl who will be her first and best friend and four others eventually. Together they are determined to find out what is really behind young people being sent to this reformatory!

Wendi’s writing is mesmerizing as I fell under her spell all over again as it was in the Oberon series. The pages just flew by!

I most wholeheartedly recommend this book and this new series to young adult and adult readers alike. You are sure to fall in love with the characters as much as I have and you will be as anxious as I am to wait for the next book to come out to see what happens next! Believe me when I say you won’t believe how fast the pages fly by and you’ll be done before you know it!

Bravo Wendi for keeping the same magical spell in this book that you had in the previous series! Your books are a joy and a delight to read!!

After finishing Oberon Academy I couldn't wait to see what Wendy came up with next and, let me tell you, i was not disappointed! I literally could not put this book down! This page turning has me dying to know what will happen with Rory and her friends next! I don't want to say much because I don't want to give any spoilers but, if you've not read this book yet, you're missing out! Can't wait for book 2!

If you read Oberon Academy books you are going to love this new series. I absolutely loved it. Rory is such a strong person and an amazing character. And I really love her BFF Lark, she is everything you can want and need in friend. From her snarky comments, to teasing her about a boy.
The "Academy" that Rory has been sent to has some strange things going on behind the scenes that just don't add up, and Rory and her friends are determined to find out exactly what that is. I can't wait to see what happens and how they unraveled the mystery.

OMG this was crazy good. Aurora Finley Oberon, aka Rory Finley, is the daughter to December and Easton, from the previous series, set years later after the last battle. Rory wants to travel and not go back to the academy but her parents are persistant. She ditches them and her security detail, to be a normal teenager but things go extremely wrong for her. She ends up being sent to Oberon Faery Reformatory and that is where things get even more wrong. Now she is there, she needs to figure out what the headmasters ultimate plan is before she and her friends get hurt or her parents find out. I loved this book and the characters. You meet new ones and still have a connection with the old ones as well .

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
I wasn't too sure about this book to begin with, as I really enjoyed the Oberon Academy book's, and this one is set in the future with the daughter, who gets herself in trouble and thrown in prison for it.
In there she meets some new friends, but has to try to keep the fact that she's the princess a secret.
I did enjoy this book, and am looking forward to the next instalment to see what happens with Echo, because I really want to know what he's up to 🤔🤔
You don't need to have read the Oberon Academy book's to read this book.
I would recommend this book as I love Wendi l Wilson and the way she writes, and can't wait for the next instalment 😍😍💞💞

First Infraction is the first in the Oberon Reformatory series by Wendi L. Wilson. This is a a spin-off series from her Oberon Academy series. I've never read the Oberon Academy series but I had no trouble following the story in First Infraction.
Something mysterious is happening at Oberon Reformatory. Fae who commit crimes are almost instantly found guilty and sent to Oberon Reformatory for their sentence but for some reason never actually get to leave at the end of their sentence. Rory Finley is sent there and has attracted the attention of the Headmaster, so when Rory gets the chance she decides to help figure out what his plans are.
I loved the story and thought it was a great start to this great series! I look forward to reading the next book.

A Great Beginning

This book is a wonderful beginning to what is shaping up to be a fantastic fantasy tale. It's creatively unique and interesting, with great detail. The characters are a diverse collection of personalities, in a inventive new world. It's a page turner, that you won't want to put down. I can't wait to read more as the story continues. I'm officially a fan of Oberon Reformatory and Wendi Wilson.

This book and it's series are recommended reads for fans of Magical Fiction, Supernatural (Specifically Fae), YA Mystery, Undercover/Spy tales, Cozy Stories, YA Romance and Academy stories.

All the characters I love

Two decades have passed since December and Eaton became Queen and King of the Fae after defeating the evil Zephyr Queen. This is the story of their teenage daughter Aurora Finely Oberon and the trouble she gets into.

If you haven't read Oberon Academy yet I highly suggest you pick up the box set now available as there are character crossover references that you won't want to miss. This book ends pleadings us to continue in book 2 coming out in July so you have plenty of time to play catch up like I did.

I love that Rory learns how to be more confident.

Lark is everything you need in a best friend.

Jax is my favourite behind the scenes character.

New spin on an old tale

Finley is smart and quick witted. She knows what she wants and figures out how to get it. I love the references to tales of the Fairie Puck and his family and friends. I can’t wait to read more.

Jailed

Stuck in jail for an accidental violent response to a handsy man, Finley must survive stealthily so her real identity stays a secret. Stinky soap and a bare cell are only a small part of her reform school incarceration. Can she survive a nasty warden and mean girls?

Entertaining if a bit slow at times

The plot is good but it doesn’t really capture my attention until it’s nearly over and at that point it feels like the book just started. It doesn’t motivate me to buy the next book. I’ll read it if it’s free on kindle. It’s good but not great.

Good series start. This is definitely not a standalone book, although the cliff hanger isn’t terrible. I love Lark’s character. Looking forward to reading the next book.
