"Breakup" is a prequel initially published as the "Beth Papadakis Thrillers" with a series name change to "London Crime Thrillers." I received the novel after signing up for the author's VIP Club/newsletter.
The setting of the novella is Athens, Greece. Beth Papadakis is notified that her friend Ellie Dupree has been attacked after leaving Club 44 and is in the hospital. Ellie's life-threatening experience has Beth investigating while her husband Alex continues to navigate his role as the high-powered attorney on call 24/7 to a powerful client. Amid Beth and Alex's attention elsewhere and marital discord, their young son Jamie, on school holidays, is shuffled between home, a grandmother's home, and a friend's house.
It took me a few chapters to catch the flow of the writing due to grammatical errors and missing words within sentences. According to the author's website, Ms. Alexander has lived in Greece and Spain, and social media indicates she is currently based in London, so it is possible that English is her second language. It appears the books are self-published without the benefit of editorial assistance.
An interesting story and some interesting characters. I spent a lot of time in Athens, years ago, and the story location was what led me to read lt. I wasn't excited enough about it to want to read the rest of the series.
Fast paced mystery which is a prequel to Beth Papadakis series. Set in Greece and London. Thank you to Voracious Readers Only and the author for this preview copy.
Action and loads of unanswered questions. Leaving you wondering what horrible thing will befall Beth next. This all is leading up to Beth leaving Greece and you wanting to read the next novel.
