Unexpected #3

Whitewash

Rate this book
Reef and Ford are back, and they’re playing for keeps. For their forever. It’s hard; harder than they ever imagined. But they’re strong. And even though falling for each other was unexpected, they’ll do whatever it takes to be together, including overcoming any obstacles in their path.

Pro snowboarder, Reef Reed, is on the precipice. His chance of winning the world championship is within reach. But he’s navigating a treacherous path, one which is full of incredible highs and soul-crushing lows. Crippling stress, insurmountable distances between him and his boyfriend, jealousy, and illness threaten everything he’s worked for. His relationship with Ford is tested in ways Reef couldn’t have fathomed.

Ford Wallace will do anything within his power to help his man soar high and achieve his dreams. But the season has been hard on both of them; watching all Reef’s hard work unravel from afar is unbearable for the healer at heart. So he fights—they both do—for their happiness and love, and they emerge on the other side stronger than ever before.

Whitewash is book 3 in Ann Grech’s international hit male/male romance trilogy, Unexpected. It can be read as a standalone, but it’s recommended that you’ve read Whiteout and White Noise first. You’ll fall for these two men who are absolutely made for each other.

By day Ann Grech lives in the corporate world and can be found sitting behind a desk typing away at reports and papers or lecturing to a room full of students. She graduated with a PhD in 2016 and is now an over-qualified nerd. Glasses, briefcase, high heels and a pencil skirt, she’s got the librarian look nailed too. If only they knew! She swears like a sailor, so that’s got to be a hint. The other one was “the look” from her tattoo artist when she told him that she wanted her kids initials “B” and “J” tattooed on her foot. It took a second to register that it might be a bad idea.
She’s never entirely fit in and loves escaping into a book—whether it’s reading or writing one. But she’s found her tribe now and loves her MM book world family. She dislikes cooking, but loves eating, can’t figure out technology, but is addicted to it, and her guilty pleasure is Byron Bay Cookies. Oh and shoes. And lingerie. And maybe handbags too. Well, if we’re being honest, we’d probably have to add her library too given the state of her credit card every month (what can she say, she’s a bookworm at heart)!
She also publishes her raunchier short stories under her pen name, Olive Hiscock.

Perfect Score!

Whitewash is the third and final book in The Unxpected Series by author Ann Grech and she knocks this one outta the ballpark!!

Reef and Ford are swoonworthy, sexy as hell, madly in love, and HANDS DOWN the hottest MM couple of 2017! I think what I adored about them the most was that they never doubted each other; there was so much trust, support, and undying passionate love between them—and it was just theirs. No one or nothing stepped in their way as far as one another's priorities were concerned.

The guys spent months away from each other while Reef went after the Snowboarding Championship title. There were certain points in this story that were really heartfelt and gut-wrenching when Reef became mentally and physically exhausted. Traveling all over the globe and competing against the BEST of the BEST took its toll on him, and he needed Ford more than his next breath. Of course, Ford, who had a hard time getting away from his own responsibilities, made it happen. These two would move Heaven and Earth for each other.

~ Running his gloved hand down Reef’s cheek, Ford pulled back resting their foreheads together. “I’m so incredibly proud of you, sweet. That was the most spectacular thing I’ve ever seen.” “Think I can win?” “Without a doubt. But even if you don’t, you’re world class, Reef. The best of the best. You don’t need a title to tell you that. You pulling off that jump, all of them… wow. Beyond amazing.” Reef snuggled into Ford’s arms, nuzzling against his neck and Ford tightened his embrace. “Thank you. You have no idea how much I needed to hear that.” “Never second guess yourself. You’re extraordinary. I’m so privileged to say I love you.” “I love you too, Ford.” Reef’s warm breath ghosted over Ford’s throat as he spoke, sending a shiver of awareness through him. “Let’s get inside.” Sigh ...!

Did Reef win the title? You'll have to read this to find out! Ann Grech did a great job with this whole series. From start to finish, these books were intelligent, OFF-THE-CHARTS sexy, with a BEAUTIFULLY written storyline. The ending was just perfect for Reef and Ford and I'll truly miss them. This is a MUST READ series, folks! Grab it NOW!! Five snow globes for me. I was given this ARC for an honest review, and honest it certainly is.

This is book 3 and the final book about this hot couple.

Reef and Ford are so sweet in this book, they are very 'loved up', they are separated a lot of the time as Reef is on tour and you just want to say to Ford 'here I'll cover your shift go meet him for a day or two!' life isn't that easy. Add into that Reef is a professional sportsman and is still in the closet to the outside world.

These lovebirds get together and when do they have a hot spark between them. They are more than a sexy couple, they love spending time together and also with friends.

The book covers the christmas period and when they are celebrating Christmas with friends all I could picture in my head was the Wham Last Christmas video, no idea why, maybe the snow Christmas and couples being happy. So yes they have a sweet happy Christmas but if I didn't mention new year celebrations it would be criminal - it was so hot, they couldn't keep their hands off each other, this while on the dance floor! <3

I found this book made me feel all warm and contented, and is a great way to finish Ford and Reefs story.

Three words to describe my thoughts - sweet, sexy and satisfying.

Right from the very beginning Ann Grech grabbed my attention!

This third book in the series is freaking amazing! I didn't want it to finish!

Ford is working in Italy for the skiing season and Reef is competing in the Snowboarding World Championship. Their relationship is still very strong and this is just as well because they spend a lot of time apart.

Fantastic descriptions of the various places where Reef competed and also where Ford worked made me want to go book flights straight away!

When reading this story you get invested in each character and actually feel closer to them..well except for Ford's mother! I really loved some of the sayings like this one...
'The last thing Ford wanted to do was speak with his mother. A dentist’s visit, walking barefoot over shards of glass, hell, getting circumcised without any anesthetic would be a whole lot more pleasant.'
And this one...
“It sucks donkey dick. But we knew going into it that we’d be apart for most of the winter. Doesn’t make it easier though.”

Emotions run high at times and you feel so proud of the support and friendship described, for example...with Alfonso's reply to Ford's mother...
“I can and I just did. No one hurts my family.” Alfonso’s hand on his shoulder and Gab’s strong and steady embrace had warmth seeping back in through the cold that had chilled Ford to his bones.

Whitewash is a fast paced, easy to read, feel good book that completes this trilogy perfectly.

Competition time for Reef had me holding my breathe in anticipation!

I gobbled up this 3 book series. Reef and Ford are absolutely adorable together. Not to mention smokin hot when it gets to the dirty bits. I loved how little angst we had to deal with in this series. The two just fought for each other always, never really doubting their devotion to each other. Between avalanches, douchebag coworkers, and being separated for long months for Reefs snowboarding season the couple stayed strong.

Poor Ford, all the poor guy wanted was a few days here and there to see his sweetie and his jerk of a co-worker couldn't even cover a shift for him. Whenever he could steal time to see Reef on his tour, it rejuvenated Reef fully, just seeing the man he loved. These two adored each other. Reef gave Ford a chance at a loving family, and Ford gave Reef a true home. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series.

Side note: is anyone else wondering what's in store for Mase, Ricky, and Caden?

I’ll complain until the end of times that these are not the covers I had!

Having said that, I must say I really enjoyed this series, just don’t ask me why because the books are really not that good and the nicknames the MCs have for one another are absolutely cringe material.

But, it is what it is, I guess I was just in the mood for silly men with no relationship drama and bad dialogues.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

What a great way to end a series.. This book was so sweet, the way Reef and Ford are towards each other restores your faith in love and relationships. Their chemistry is off the charts hot.. panty melting hot even!! But it is the love and support they show each other is what shines through in this book for me... I love a book that can make me believe that true love really does exist and Ann has knocked that out of the park with this story.

Whitewash is book 3 in the Unexpected series, and while it could technically be read as a standalone (seriously, Ann Grech does a great job catching us up with Reef and Ford), I think it's best to read the series in order.

Reef and Ford are having a hard time now that they have to be apart while Reef is working toward winning his first world championship as a pro snowboarder and Ford is working as an alpine rescuer. The pain of separation, jealousy and stress are taking its toll on Reef especially and it might cause him to lose the championship in the end.

I loved Reef and Ford, their love for each other was palpable, even if they were apart for almost half the book. I could feel Reef's escalating stress, his fear and distress at being separated from Ford, making it difficult for him to concentrate on the contests. And Ford wasn't much better, overworked and missing his guy and wanting to be there for him when they were so close, yet so far away. They were so hot together, too, and their chemistry was simply explosive.

I loved that they both had a great support system in their friends and family, because otherwise, things could've been much worse for Reef.

Overall, this was a really good, very entertaining story. It was fast-paced, emotional and it was obvious Ms. Grech did her research with both Reef and Ford's chosen professions. Very recommendable!

Whitewash is the conclusion to Reef and Ford's story and what a conclusion it is! Ann brought it and wrapped everything up in a perfect way that was realistic and had me cheering Reef and Ford on!

Reef is on top of his career and he has his man in his corner. But this time around it is hard on Reef and Ford because Reef is traveling all over trying to win the championship. His traveling has him stressed the eff out and needing Ford even more. Plus everything that comes with relationships is there for them. There is jealousy and anger because Ford's parents are still being arses about Ford and Reef. But Ford has put them in their place and let them know he is going to be with Reef no matter what they or anyone else says. Ford even goes out of his way to travel to where Reef is to be with him when he can. He supports Reef through this hard time in his career and I loved that about Ford.

What I loved about this ending was that Ford and Reef fought to be together and no matter what or who they stayed together and their love just grew and grew and they had each other to lean on. Ann did a great job on this series and I want more! I want to see the white picket fence and maybe some children.......

l love Ford and Reed so much ,
Their love and devotion in each other goes from strength to strength,

Throughout this series l have been amazed at the authors description of beauty
beauty of nature, of everything white, each time l have felt l was actually there on those mountains.

Reef's finally coming to realise his ambition of becoming a world champion, with only the finals left,
Ford is still his rock, strong and reliable, his family.
Together with his coach , parents and friends we are taken on a thrilling journey,
completely invested in this story and willing Reef on to win .

What a roller coaster of events and feelings, the passion between these two is phenomenal,
the intimate scenes are just beautiful, the depth of their connection and love so strong.
Look out for a scene at the New Years Eve party ( fans self )

Ford's pompous parents are still causing trouble and Momma Bear is still surrounding them in love,
however , there are subtle clues as to new relationships possibly beginning, so exciting .

l thoroughly enjoyed this series, the writing has been so good,
l am excited to see what will come next.

An ARC has been gifted

Oh My Goodness what a finish to an amazing series. I hated to finish it and say goodbye to Ford and Reid but this is one of those series that you are so glad you read and can't quite remember your life before reading it.
What can I say about this story, words really can't describe how much I loved it enough. Ford and Reid were hot and sensitive yet alpha and were so dreamy I couldn't get enough of them.
The boys had their issues and even though one was a pro snowboarder I could still relate to them and felt every bump in their journey like it was my own.
I know every series must come to an end but if there were more books on Ford and Reid I would be lining up to read it. I hope the author reads this and writes a novella for their future story.
This is a must read in my opinion.

Follows on from Whiteout & Whitenoise..
Reef & Ford are struggling with the distance & traveling that comes from Reef competing for the World Championship. Both of them trying to remain hopeful & trust in what they have is strong enough. I really felt the love & the connection between them Reef & Ford & I found myself cheering for them the whole way through.

I loved this book & eagerly await more. Please can we have Mason, Caden & Ricky's story??? Please?? Or Trent & Ang??

I love the relationship ford has with gab and Alfonso. It gave me chills that’s the type of friendship I want.
And the friendship reef has with Camden isn’t what I thought, I mean they are competitors but they built a friendship within what felt like minutes but they knew they both loved the snow. (and I’m very very excited to read his story along with Connor’s story)
But also I just need more reef and ford. 😍

Overall a good and easy series.

A little cheesy at times, and I have to say the overuse of the pet names “hon” and “sweets” had me rolling my eyes a bit. But sometimes sugary sweet is just what you need.

I could have done with maybe an epilogue a little further into the future, but that’s just my preference.

This was such a fun and hot read! The anticipation of the two men tiptoeing around their attraction really pulls you in and I found myself grinning like a dork when things started to fall into place...

This is a great read if you're dipping your toe into MM for the first time - there is more to the series but this ends as a stand alone if you want to stay in this particular world!

Whitewash was great conclusion to the Unexpected Series. Ann Grech captures the emotional rollercoaster the MCs are on, reducing me to tears more than once.

Reef and Ford are back, even more in love but struggling with seperation imposed by their chosen careers. Both are surviving on short telephone calls while in different parts of the world and rare visits. Still keeping their relationship from the world is adding to the difficulty of being apart. In the end it will be worth it, achieving more than they dream of.

You need to read all three books. I can't wait for the secondary characters to have their stories told.

Oh, Ann Grech brings out all the feels in Whitewash. Have you ever tried to make a long-distance relationship work? Well imagine doing that when you’re not only miles apart, but countries away from one another. Add the fact that one of you is trying to achieve a lifelong dream while battling self-doubt, injury, illness and loneliness. Ms. Grech takes Reef and Ford to the brink and back again in the conclusion of her “Unexpected” series.

Grech, herself, will tell you that this series can be read as standalones… but as someone who has invested three weeks straight with these men, I’m here to ask, why would you want to? Reef and Ford’s love story is so worthy of the complete journey.

As I mentioned in my recommendation of book one, I read Whiteout almost three years ago and didn’t review it. It’s a testament to Ann Grech’s writing, and the characters she created, that their original story stuck with me this long, and prompted me to finish their courtship with them.

Much like the vibrating sounds coming off Reef’s snowboard, the chatter of their estrangement is grating.

Separated while Reef travels the competition circuit and Ford works in Italy, both men recall the circumstances and moments that placed them in each other’s lives, minds and hearts. As a never-ending season endures, they are untethered, trying to keep it together without each other’s touch. Much like the vibrating sounds coming off Reef’s snowboard, the chatter of their estrangement is grating.

The pressure of competition, intense physical and mental fatigue, get to Reef. He almost gives up on himself as he thinks, “Was he the best or not good enough?”

Just when he needs Ford the most, they are able to come together briefly and the desperation when they do is palpable, all-encompassing… But then, whoops, WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency). If you want comical real-world sex scenes, this is one of the best! Add in their New Year celebration and… *gulp*. Reef and Ford’s hookups seem so unlike the men they were in that cabin in Whiteout, and just keep getting ballsier, as they savor each stolen moment they get together.

These two aren’t necessarily hiding their relationship, but they aren’t announcing Reef’s sexual orientation either. Instead they choose to keep the focus where it should be – on the competition and competitors. One must suspend disbelief that they aren’t caught or “outted,” with as much PDA as they display. In fact Reef even says, “‘Our relationship has gotta be one of the worst kept secrets in history.’”

Half way through the book so much has happened, and yet you can anticipate much more to come. Meanwhile you thrill at the excitement of Ann Grech’s fabulous snowboarding scenes, which are so awesome you can see them in your mind’s eye. Reef is in his element; up in the competitors’ tent, prepping at the top of the mountain, careening down the hill, taking air, turning tricks… and those landings!

Half way through the book so much has happened, and yet you can anticipate much more to come. Meanwhile you thrill at the excitement of Ann Grech’s fabulous snowboarding scenes, which are so awesome you can see them in your mind’s eye.

One of my favorite moments in Whitewash is the first Christmas the men share and the heartfelt gifts they exchange. These men certainly know how to bring it, as Reef realizes he wants to go home. He has found his place, his forever. Ford has changed him, and his focus, altering his priorities. Enduring highs and lows together, sometimes just over the phone, makes these men who they are… together and apart. Each deserving to be atop the podium!

I have mixed emotions about focus displaced onto other characters, but when it’s done in an organic way as Ann Grech does, it can be spectacular and enticing. The secondary characters are so much a part of what takes place for Reef and Ford, that it makes you want their story as well. Let’s just say I’m stoked for All He Needs.

I have been waiting for this third book and wow it was as expected - brilliant!

This is the last book and so much happens .
Everything was wrapped up but there were difficulties and a lot of time away from each other.
When Ford managed to get time off to see Reef the look on Reef's face said it all ....... Pure joy... On seeing his love there just for him.
The support they give each other is wonderful .
Ann again wrote extremely well she bought the guys into my life and they felt incredibly real .
Everything in this trilogy was expertly written extremely descriptive of all the places that Reef was snowboarding ..
I am sad that the trilogy has finished but its easy to pick up and reread again.
Their friends love them it is so good to see, they will support their friends in all things.

Wow! What a way to end this trilogy!! Ford and Reef have captured my heart from the beginning. The fight and pull these men have gone through was such a beautiful sight to read. They have been through so much , evil ex, judgements, separations, friends, family, just everything they never should of had to deal with seem to pop up. But Ford and Reef pulled through and made their love worth every single torment they went through. Such and amazing story. They saved each other in more ways then one. Mrs Grech has had my heart completely opened for these two and I didn't want it to end. I hope we get Mace, Caden, and Ricky's story. I have a feel it could be an interesting one.

This book has to be the best one of the lot, this story is just lovely. What Reef and Ford share is just beautiful, magical and something that all fairytales consist of. I love the way they fight against the hatred that is thrown at them from Ford's family and just how much his friends all come together to make him and even better family.

This book is about them coping with the distance and how it effects both of them, especially Reef, whilst he is travelling for the competitions. This book shows that love can and will conquer all and that when the one appears the rest of your life just seems to slot into place.

I really enjoyed this whole series and I will recommend to anyone that is willing to listen, what a great series it is. I can't wait to see what next from Ann Grech

We reconnect with Ford and Reef, who are as happy and very much in love as can be. But they are living miles apart from each other and they are missing each other like crazy. Combined with the stress Reef is feeling while competing for the World Championship title and the constant traveling it is taken its toll on their relationship.

This is a beautiful story, fast paced and flowing, that will keep you turning the pages. The scenes on the snowboarding circuit are thrilling, the banter funny and humerous.

Ford and Reef are sweet and cute together. Sometimes very sappy, but that makes it even sweeter, because that is how they are. Their love and devotion for each other are palpable. Even when they are not together you feel the chemistry between them. Their encounters are hot and steamy.

It is not all smooth sailing. They have some serious battles to fight and emotions are flying high at times. But with the help of their adopted family (Momma Bear and Coach) and their friends, they come out stronger. Stronger as individuals, but even more as a dedicated couple with a bright future ahead of them.

This is the third book in the series and can be read as a standalone. I recommend to read the other two books in order. You will get a better grip on all the characters involved and on the entire storyline. And they are just too wonderful not to read.
