Conflicted really.
I love Dorian and Lyra's unique situation and all that comes with it.
But it's really frustrating being a reader of Bella's books because they're never ending. Endless series' dilutes the passion, leaves me frustrated and ending up thoroughly unsatisfied.
With each book, in this series, there's a build up to one big battle with a few side missions. And you love getting to it, as it's fast paced and full of action! But for me, that's the downfall as well. It's so fast, I feel subtleties are lost. There's no time to focus on the small nuances and details that matter to readers. The relationships aren't explored as deeply as could be. Subsequently, you don't care about all the characters as much. Plus, there's too many of them to keep track.
I would have liked to have seen the last battle through to fruition, but just as it was getting good, they were plucked into another scenario by the Gate Maker and so begins a new challenge/twist. Never-ending unsatisfaction.
The focus for me to make this satisfying is the exploration of the curse, it's the combat of making a safe place to coincide and live side by side in a FINITE amount of books/time. We've added a new plane, and so ther
e will never be an end.
And Just as we started caring about Sike and Roxys potential relationships, they're halted too.
And on top of that Lyra's a junkie now?!? Just problem after problem with nothing ever being resolved, just cut off.
I wonder if there's 50 writers who all write under 'Bella' because several books are churned out each month? Maybe that's why I don't feel as connected because everything in the books feels rushed too. I'm really sad because I love all these at the start! But unless I know there's 3-5 books in a series now, I can't continue much longer.
