The Power of Holy Language to Change Your Life

Rate this book
Healing, Guidance, and Miracles—Through the Lost Vocabulary of the Soul

To connect with the ultimate creative power that shapes and directs our lives, teaches Caroline Myss, we first need to learn its sacred medium of communication—what she calls "holy language." Whether through prayer, ritual, or inspired texts, holy language is our conduit to grace and the mystical domain.

In these original audio sessions, Myss brings us a new chapter in her life's work: how holy language awakens the full emergence of who we truly are and empowers us to transform ourselves, individually and collectively, in the material, energetic, and spiritual dimensions.

At the heart of these teachings lies a simple yet profound insight: when the Divine comes to us, we must move past fear and be ready to grasp its unique ways of guiding and changing us.

"Every word you utter," Myss says, "is an act of creation unto itself." Here, with compassion and uncommon vision, she explores: the hidden depths of familiar words such as love, trust, covenant, and mercy; how faith and intention animate our prayers; how nature is ordaining us through the process of organic divinity; new insights into "spiritual crisis" and "the dark night"; the reality of miracles; and more.

?HIGHLIGHTS:

• The power that is you
• Your soul as the engine of creation
• Keeping yourself vertical as a vessel of Light
• Holy language and words of power
• Managing the energy of creation within us
Organic divinity—the mystical journey of our time
• Faith, trust, love, and hope as a "field of grace"
• Prayer, the ultimate holy language
• Every choice is a negotiation of power
• Living an ordinary mystical life
• Illuminating guided prayers in each session, and more

For those of all spiritual paths, this new unfolding of Caroline Myss's work invites us to summon the transcendent at every level of who we are, and who we are becoming.

Caroline Myss was born on December 2, 1952 in Chicago, and grew up with her parents, and two brothers, one elder and one younger, in the Melrose Park, Illinois neighbourhood near Chicago. Caroline was raised a Catholic, and attended the Mother Guerin High School, River Grove, Illinois, run by the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana in 1974, and started her career in journalism in Chicago.

In the course of her career, she interviewed Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, M.D., the author of the famous book, On Death and Dying, which inspired her to pursue a Master's degree in theology from Mundelein College, Chicago, which she completed in 1979. She also claims to hold a Ph.D in "intuition and energy medicine", but the degree was granted by Greenwich University, a now-defunct correspondence school that was never accredited to deliver higher education awards by any recognized government accreditation authority.

She started giving medical intuitive readings in 1982 and co-founded a small New Age publishing company, Stillpoint Publishing in Walpole, New Hampshire, where she also worked as an editor in 1983, next she began consulting with holistic doctors, which in 1984, led to her extensive collaboration with Dr. Norman Shealy, an M.D. schooled at Harvard, and the founder of the American Holistic Medical Association, with whom she later co-authored, "Aids: Passageway to Transformation," in 1987, followed by "The Creation of Health: The Emotional, Psychological, and Spiritual Responses that Promote Health and Healing," in 1988. Deriving from her practice as a medical intuitive, she started writing books, in the field of energy medicine, and healing, all of which became New York Times Best Sellers.[18] Starting with Anatomy of the Spirit: The Seven Stages of Power and Healing (1996), which overlapped seven Christian sacraments with seven Hindu chakras and the Kabbalah's Tree of Life to create a map of the human "energy anatomy"; this was followed by Why People Don't Heal and How They Can (1998), which explored the reasons people do not heal through her concept of "woundology." Her next book, Sacred Contracts: Awakening Your Divine Potential (2002) dealt with the issue of finding "Life Purpose," while describing Sacred Contracts as "a set of assignments that our soul had formed around before incarnation". She has since appeared on the The Oprah Winfrey Show numerous times.

By 2000, she discontinued doing private medical intuitive readings, and instead started teaching it, through her workshops, seminars, radio shows and guided tours. She tours internationally as a speaker on spirituality and mysticism, and lives in Oak Park, Illinois, near Chicago. In 2003, she started the Caroline Myss Educational Institute, with Wisdom University in San Francisco.

Her 2007 book, "Entering the Castle" draws upon the writings of Saint Teresa of Ávila, a 16th century Carmelite nun, who wrote her most important work, The Interior Castle, towards the end of her life.

Every word we utter is a prayer. Caroline Myss teaches us how holy language paves a better path, linking our linguistic construction to the experience we manifest around us. Powerful guidance from a Master Guru.

I absolutely loved this in audiobook version. I struggle so much with religion, prayer, and feeling like I don’t have control of my own life. She explains all of this so effortlessly, and in a way which is easily understood while also being personable. I definitely recommend this for anyone like me who wants to have stronger faith and be more accepting of things we cannot control or understand.
She even included a few prayers, which I saved to put in my prayer journal.

I love listening to Caroline Myss' teachings and this one, like all her others, did not disappoint. The premise of this book is to watch what we say because everything we say can be a prayer. It also recommends starting a prayer practice but not one in which we ask for material things or give God a to do list, instead we ask how we can become more fully ourselves because in doing so we become of greater service to God and our fellow humans. Really enjoyed listening and will listen again.

Love Caroline but felt this book was more ramblings at the dinner table than coherent information with actionable outcomes. I was left feeling more frustrated by the end of the book with few pearls of wisdom.

Myss was never one to mince words, but her passion and mission seem to have taken on even more urgency. She cuts to the quick with a precise sword. For those looking to become more accountable to their own soul and the whole of humanity, give this a listen!
