“What does she like? Other than sex and your beard.”

Pucks and Penalties is a delicious blend of deleted scenes from the PUCKED Series. Reading Helena Hunting's Hockey Gods is like coming home after a long separation. As always, the shenanigans of this crew are full of fun and an overabundance of smoking hot steam.

Such a good collection of extra scenes from the Pucked series! Get inked was my favourite but I reviewed that separately as I read it before this book.

3 Estrellas!

It was great little snippets from the gang and what they have been getting upto, Along with past outtakes.

Definitely need to read about the Tattoo artists in get inked some more!!!

Violet and Alex fab as usual!!! I am slightly concerned in any of their future kids gets into MC's costume stash, or find play-doh appendage.

I’m a HUGE fan of Helena’s Pucked series (well, I’m a fan of *all* of her books), so it’s no surprise that I was absolutely giddy to read this. More bonus scenes with some of my favorite characters?? Yes, please!!

At first, I wasn’t really sure how this was different from Area 51: Pucked Series Deleted Scenes and Outtakes. Turns out, this book contains the Area 51 novella, the Get Inked novella, AND even more bonus content. Since I’ve already read and own the first two novellas, I just read the other content for this book (about half of it was new content). It was so good. I loved getting to revisit the characters and their stories, especially Violet and Alex. Their interactions are always hilarious and entertaining. There was also some great insight into Poppy and Lance’s relationship, as well as Darren and Charlene’s, too. Overall, this was such a fun and enjoyable read. It also contained plenty of sexy moments, too. 5 stars :)

P.S. I didn’t even know this book existed before today. Apparently, it used to only be available at Helena Hunting’s book signings, which explains why I didn’t know about it. It’s free right now on all of the major ebook platforms. I generally hate ebooks (I’m a paperback girl, for sure), but when my friend told me that this was free, I decided to read the ebook version of it since it was the only way I could read it. Despite wishing I was holding a physical book, I wasn’t disappointed. If Helena ever decides to release more outtakes, I’ll be the one of the first to buy the book!

Hilarity ensues whenever the gang gets together but these deleted scenes, bonus outtakes, and sweet letters show that the Chicago NHL team are not only masters of the ice but of heat, as well. We get to see how much more angst Helena considered throwing at us while also receiving heaps of more fluff that readers like me will never refuse. With greater insight into how deep the relationships go, we also get peeks at the girls’ hilarious friendship and the guys’ hilarious bromance.

New ink means only one thing- a trip to Inked Armor is in store. The question is who’s getting new ink? While contemplating starting a new sleeve, Randy Ballistic unintentionally encourages ink-virgin Lily to get a tattoo leading to many meetings with the Inked Armor guys. When the team decides to get matching hockey tats, the girls must weigh in as well of course leading to an unlikely yet much appreciated crossover between the Clipped Wings and Pucked series. From nipple piercings to puck tats, much is debated and discussed in the classically funny way that is Helena Hunting’s writing style. We get perspectives from every guy and overshares from the girls until we learn just how down and dirty each couple can get. I loved getting to meet the hot guys of the Inked Armor crew and reading about the povs of the Clipped Wings characters. From cupcakes to clit piercings, Get Inked got me grinning like a fool the whole way through.

With these new chapters from Alex and Violet, we finally get to catch-up with where they’re at with that Area 51 invasion mission! From new sexual explorations to classic sexual references, we get insight into pivotal relationship moments and overshares from embarrassing sexual moments. So grateful to Helena for sharing some of these scenes from the OG Pucked couple, keeping the flame alive and my love for them burning. To see how far they’ve come both individually, in their relationship, and as a group was a wonderful experience and this novella collection shows just how important these characters are to the rest of the crew and how meaningful they are to beloved readers.

Seeing not only the couples grow closer but the team as a whole bond together satisfies every greedy reader bringing spice and sugar to this group of ice-cold hockey hotties.

Because when the hell have I ever been appropriate? (WATERS, Violet)

I had already read the first part of this one from Helena Hunting's website and her previous outtakes' books. However, this one brought a few more crazy and entertaining short stories about these insane group of people.

Helena knows how absurd and ridiculous this Pucked World she created is and she did not take these extra stories so seriously, they are gifts to her fans.

I liked this book even though Violet was absolutely ridiculous and her madness seemed to rub off on all other characters.

I enjoyed especially the pregnancy reveal and the birth scenes, they were sweet and cute in their own craziness.

Poppy and Lance are my favorite couple so it was extra nice read about them again.

Charlene and Darren still my least favorite one, so I could have live without their outtakes.

It was a good 'recap' reading in order to start a new spin-off series about their children. Now, I am only hoping it is going to be a lit one.

A completely pointless book. It's listed as theatre one in the series, however.... Its full of scenes and love letters that didn't make each of the individual books which has two problems: firstly if they were any good they would have made the original books. Secondly if you read this at the end of reading the whole series of books you're going back on yourself and finding the different players in early stages of their relationships which now makes no sense. The letters and scenes weren't even any good. Don't waste your money buying this like I did. Oh and the supposed standalone Inked book in the middle of this failed all rules of literature by having no beginning, no real middle and certainly no end.

-4.5 stars-

I was a bit confused by this book and all of the little extra short stories connected to this series. So just to clarify to anyone else confused: this book has ALL of the extra stories you see connected with the series bundled into one book.
It’s best to see the reading order on Goodreads, then just keep coming back and forth to this book as needed throughout. The Table of Contents will take you directly to the stories you may be looking for 👍🏼

I liked having the extra little additions to each story, sometimes they were a bit much and I think I read too many in a row and then got bored of “additional dialog”. Definitely appreciate the deleted scenes being made into a book though for the diehards.

3.8 ⭐️
loved seeing the characters, getting too see valentines cards the guys written, and seeing what could’ve been in the book. it was interesting and it had me laughing out loud.

i personally had to skip a few chapters because supposedly you have to read good luck charm and clipped wings before you read like two chapters so i will be coming back to this…soon.

overall this series was a 3.8 almost 4 stars. i picked up this series because i love reading hockey romances. this series was very entertaining but some books i just found that i was not really interested in. but i did enjoy reading it so i will be back for the kids story when i want to dive in again.

I wish more authors would let us in on their deleted scenes in their books that didn’t make the cut like Helena Hunting has done with Pucks and Penalties . Helena included also some short story /outtakes to give a little more context of what was also going on in the lives of the hockey players and their wives/girlfriends lives . Definitely a good laugh to have been able to read these and try to figure out why they didn’t make the cut in the first place . Thank you Helena Hunting for keeping me intrigued yet again from the first place to the very last . So many surprises in this one ❤️📚🍆🍆🍆🧁💥💥

Everything I would expect from a Helena Hunting. Steamy, funny and unexpected are some of the words I would use for this book. The outtakes not only give you more of their stories but they are side splitting funny. I love entering the mind of Violet and this brought some refreshing new pre my pants comedy that I desperately need to keep the walls from crashing in on me during these times. So this book is just what the Dr ordered, sexy hockey players getting tatted up, sexy outtakes and side splitting fun. Exceedingly satisfying!

Most of these are Alex and Violet outtakes, extras, etc. and they’re my least favorite couple so I skipped those.

I enjoyed the Randy & Lilly ones and Poppy & Lance. Not too many Miller and Sunny. Just one with Miller right before he started seeing Sunny. So glad this was left out of the final book. It was a little ridiculous. We also get Randy pre-Lily. Two random chicks within 24 hours and no shower in between 🤮.

There should be an extra written of Miller, Randy and Lance going to the clinic together to treat all their various STD’s that are never mentioned.

Overall Opinion: I'm not going to rate this only because it is made up of short scenes and deleted chapters. It was a fun way to pass the time though. I feel like some of the scenes were included in the original, but this one does feature the novella of Get Inked. The novella was fine. Nothing special outside of sex scenes, introductions of other characters, and Randy being a dick about Lily's tattoo. People should be able to get a tattoo wherever they want without their partner getting mad. Like who cares if the tattoo artist gets up close and personal, the artist is a professional.

Jammed full of hilarity and sweet moments that have been deleted from the fantastic Pucked series this book has it all!
Full of our favourite hockey characters and their partners you can't help but be pulled into their world again, devouring the words and wanting more and more and more than we could/should wish for!
I always feel like I have a favourite couple in this series... but then I read about another couple and fall for them too.
Sexy times.. heart racing moments.. and intense chemistry the hotness just exudes from each and every one of these guys.

This was sooo fun!! I loved seeing all the extra scenes from characters I've gotten so attached to as well as some new ones in the series I haven't read yet. I also loved Helena's commentary throughout all the outtakes. It really gave an inside look into her thought process and I thought it shaped the characters quite well. This was just as fun and ridiculous as the full length book and I am kind of sad that I'm done with this world. Ir was so delightful and I really enjoyed reading this entire series.

More Pucked Fun, More Love

This book is a great addendum to the Pucked series. It’s like getting to revisit old friends and bask in old memories. You get a little of everything here. Outtakes, Different POV’s and additional material. If you have already gone through the series this will feel like a warm hug. It was a delightful read and I’m already sad I finished it. I just love this world Helena Hunting created and the unforgettable characters that live within it make it a delightful place to spend some time in.

Perfect

Any chance I get to dive back into these characters I will. From the first of this series, I fell in love with the characters, their friendships, and the connections. This was a great bonus to seeing what was missing. In some cases, it just brought me back home and in others, it offered additional insight into both the characters themselves and in their relationship.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that is a fan of the Pucked world.

I can't get enough of these characters!

Since Helena Hunting was kind enough to share these scenes with us during a pandemic I would like to say "Thanks! That's just what I needed!" I love all of the couples but Alex and Violet are still my favorite. It's hard to imagine that all of these scenes were deleted from the books but it was explained perfectly for each one. Now where can we get Weiner Warmers? Lol Absolutely awesome and made me feel so much better!
