Las Vegas. City of Dreams, City of Sin. The cat and mouse game between Ethan Thorne and I led us to this place of lights and glitter. Here, our relationship would enter a new phase as a high stakes game of poker provokes a side of Ethan that I’d never seen before. But secrets cannot be hidden forever. In the glitzy VIP backrooms of the Las Vegas Strip, Ethan puts everything he’s ever built on the line as he reveals his true a reckless gambler, hurtling toward oblivion. Out of my element and reeling from the revelation, I place my bets and I play my hand. But all actions have consequences and my desperate moves bring our game to his boardroom. With suited saboteurs around every corner, and Ethan’s betrayal still fresh, will we ever find out what was true and good between us or will our masks destroy us both? Perhaps, as it always had been, the truth could only be found in the past… In Upstate New York, during that one hot summer, spent amongst the oaks and cicadas… Sierra and Ethan return to where it all began in this final installment of the Silk & Thorne series.
This is the second book in this series. Ethan and Sierra's story continues. I kind of like the first book. And I was curious about all that happened between them in the past. But I couldn't finish this book I just couldn't. It too slow for me. I tried, I promise! But you know when a book is not for you🤷🏻♀️. I'm sorry. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
This last book picked up from the last one. Ethan and Sierra are in Vegas. It was supposed to be a reconciliation trip. I expected Sierra to get an explanation on what happened to Ethan when he appeared as if he was run over by a car, but none was given. If I were Sierra I will insist on one. They went gambling and it looked as if he wanted to gamble his fortune away. No reasonable explanation about this too. Anyways, long story short, Ethan’s assistant accosted Sierra, and she left Vegas determined to break up with Ethan. For three months she did not give him the chance to play with her heart again. I’ll say good riddance, but of course we want a happy ending. We got one.
The three books should have been combined into one, with better explanations on some events in the book, including the background story of these two. That’s my own opinion of course.
* I received a free copy of this book by the author and am voluntarily leaving a review*
This is the 3rd book in the series and this series is to be read in order. This book picks up right where the last one left.
Its the story of 2 people who new each other when they were 10 and then meet each other after 15 yrs. In this book both Ethan and Sierra are in vegas and i did like the casino bit. Sierra is not someone who you can order around and i really liked how she stood upfor hersef and did what she wanted to do and wouldn't let anyone treat her any less than what she deserves.
This series has 3 books so one would think that its would be detailed about their future but no, Things did end on a good note but still it was not very satisfactory for me.
So book three picks up in Las Vegas where Ethan has taken them and they are playing poker. Well, Ethan is playing poker and sends Sierra off to play on her own. Not be pushed aside, she takes his credit card and gets some cash and heads back to the poker table. Needless to say Ethan is a little surprised when she sits down. But she ends up winning some shares with his company. When Ethan's assistant shows up and accuses Sierra of trying to steal Ethan's company, she leaves him with his lies and secrets and herself with a broken heart goes back home. As Sierra tries to move on past Ethan, His assistant contacts her about a company meeting that Sierra needs to attend since she holds those company shares. She is afraid to see him again, knowing her heart can't handle it. But she must do what she can to help him save his company and his position as CEO. At the meeting, Ethan seems dejected and indifferent, staring out the window until Sierra begins talking. Can't she just finish what she came to do and go home? These two need to sit and talk things through but they are still living in the past. When they finally decide it is time to go back to where it all started, in upstate New York. But will they learn the truth? Will they be able to move past the hurt from all those years ago? Can Sierra forgive Ethan for the way he has acted recently? Will he forgive her for leaving him all those years ago? I really enjoyed this series and hope you give it a chance and that you enjoy it too. **I received a free copy of this story to read and review and this is my honest opinion**
Disappointing, and it pains me to say that. This author has talent. Part one was written well and flowed beautifully. Part 2 was a little choppy, and left the reader with questions (possibly a little confused by a few reactions) but eagerly awaiting the third and final installment. Part 3, however, let me baffled. The synopsis is correct - there are secrets. Unfortunately, there is never really any explanation for them, and that left this reader scratching her head. There's never a discussion between Ethan and Sierra for any of the erratic behavior. Sierra seems to accept being treated badly (in my opinion) and stays with Ethan. There are a couple bonus scenes through the newsletter that gives a hint of insight into Ethan, but not enough to explain the behavior or any of the "why's". I was convinced that Sierra was walking away and closing the door a couple of times and was utterly shocked when they were together in the following scene. I question the sanity of both parties for the ending as I didn't sense the emotional connection between the two that I had in part one. This author has a lot of potential. Conveying backstories, having more dialog and keeping the emotional connection/chemistry between the characters would have gone a long way to improving the quality. Lastly, there were scenes that didn't add to the story that was presented to the world. I received a copy of this book for review purposes and these are my opinions based on the copy I received.
Although a little unclear as to how young they were when they played as children, Thorne and Sierra were best of friends. True, it was just one Summer they spent together, but the strength of their affection still lingers. They were supposed to run away together, but something happened and they never did go through it. Now they are both adults and just by sheer Fate, they meet again. The nevers, emotions, and the unforgettable time they shared is a bond neither can resist.
As our story progresses, they both get deeper and deeper into the raw feelings and most of all, the attraction they feel for each other. Only one problem. Thorne is not an easy man to understand. He keeps everything inside and has difficulty trusting and opening up. It is up to Sierra to provide the emotional support he needs as well as try to open him up and trust again.
I must say I really enjoyed this story. My only problem, my analytical mind was a little confused because it was not clear just how young they were when they met. They are both in their late twenties early thirties now, so if their friendship happened 15 years ago, how could they both be pre-adolescent? If you can ignore that glitch, you will find this is a very entertaining story.
I am voluntarily reviewing these books. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
The story started off with secrets and lies that would drive most couples apart. While the story is very passionate and intense, those secrets are never resolved between them. There is no closure, no discussion, just sex. I really wanted a deep, meaningful relationship between Ethan and Sierra. The heat is undeniable as well as their past connection as kids. However, the reasons for Ethan's secrets we never discover. What is he trying to accomplish? Why is he doing such irresponsible things? Why is he lying about it to Sierra? We never get these loose ends tied up and this makes the story disappointing for me. The writing is done well and the chemistry between Ethan and Sierra may make it appealing to most people but I prefer my book boyfriend's relationships to be healthier and based on trust, not just passion. I also found it confusing to read not understanding the back and forth decisions Sierra makes despite the lack of communication or honesty. Fate is not enough reason for me to see two people together.
After a promising storyline in the fast paced firstbook, the subsequent books both took massive nosedives, with this final book being absolutely dreadful. The plot is random and doesn't really follow through the story from the 2nd book. So many questions are left unanswered and the author's bizarre idea of having Sierra suddenly sitting on a board meeting to save Ethans company just didn't fit in. Then there was the sudden invitation to a party at Ethans childhood home where enroute they meet some mad woman who i assume is meant to be a medium spiritualist who talks about aurors??? I mean what the hell??? It was like I was suddenly reading a completly different book about witchcraft!!! The final nail in the coffin is April (the annoying best friend) writing a future diary entry - I don't know if I'm going mad but I sort of felt that April was meant to have been some spiritual best friend from another world. The book is definitely best left in another world of books that should disappear into a black.hole!!!!!
I was given digital ARCs from the author for all three parts of the Silk and Thorne series for my honest review. Sierra (Nev) and Ethan’s story continues. So, by the end of book two, Satin and Thorne, I was hoping Sierra would do us girls proud and kick Ethan’s conniving, rude, and selfish butt to the curb, but no. The author takes her readers on a ride with Ethan and Sierra traveling all over from attempting to save his business to visiting their childhood homestead. By the end, I still hadn’t recovered from nor forgiven Ethan from his escapes in book two. Sierra, I like, even if she is all gaga eyes over Ethan. The writing of this story is good, it kept my interest, but the roller coaster ride to wrap things up left me wanting. I am still recommending this book, all three books in this series. They’re a great escape during a rainy weekend day or fun beach read.
Although this author is new to me she told a amazing story, great details, fantastic highlights & amazing perspectives. Eventually I hope to see a full length true size novel from this author. All these books could have been one novel, along with a few more details perhaps more elaborate into the red ribbon. Potentially more details as why Ethan was distant & often standoff. But as all great stories you always want more. This story leaves you complete & full. Not aggravated or annoyed. Fabulous books for a weekend away or vacation. Amazed to find all of them available on KindleUnlimited, where they could actually be priced at the $1.99-$3.99 price range. Certainly the full series as one book could be sold higher. This author has huge potential for writing amazing stories & I look forward exploring more of her work.
Can we just say glutton for punishment. Sierra just can not say no to this man. Ethan is severely distracted in this book but other than a memory of what Sierra already had with Ethan I don’t see the attraction. After the debacle in Vegas, I was not on board for her to be with Ethan.
What did I like? I expected an explanation off the bat for Ethans showing up all hurt at her flower shop. Something to convey that we should believe in Ethan but none was ever forthcoming. Sadly part three was a disappointment.
Would I buy or recommend? Sadly no. Some parts of this was well written but I was more confused than anything.
Thoughts for the author? I was ok with parts one and two but part three did not clarify enough for me. Thanks for a read.
Too many loose ends. Too many unexplained parts of the plot. Too much brooding and silence between two people who love each other. He started off sizzling and the ribbon thing was very dom like, but then it just dropped from the story. He went flat. He withheld orgasms for no apparent reason in the end. Too much didn't make sense. Much of this story took turns that were unnecessary. It seemed like there were hints of things to come that never came and things that came that didn't fit. I see potential in this author, but much work is needed.
Just the right amount of perfect. I love how strong Sierra is but she has a huge soft spot for Thorne and vice versa. They had their ups and downs but came together greatly. I’m proud of where they ended up and how they ended up there. It’s like they came back to the beginning in order to carry on their future. Well written. As for April? She’s hilarious and I want her story, lol.
This book was the perfect end to this trilogy. Finally found out what happened between Sierra and Ethan all those years ago. I loved this whole series. These books are so addictive that I couldn't put then down. I also felt like I got a little better insight to who Ethan truly is. Better understanding of both Sierra and Ethan. They make a great couple. I have found myself a new author in L.K. Rayne. I look forward to reading many more books by her.
Under the lights and glitter When Sierra and Ethan go back to Las Vegas, a new side of Ethan comes to light. This side is far from desirable and puts pressure on her to decide if she wants to continue the relationship or not. Having known him as a child, she has an inside track as to what may be causing the behavior. Will they continue their mutual path, or will they go their own ways? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
So this book picks up where the last one left off and I must say, I don’t understand why this was three books. It could have a slightly long single book but oh well.
I liked the ending but for me I kept reading because I was interested how it would play out and what Ethan would do but I think the story was lacking. No big emotional climax or problem. I was hoping for something really dramatic in the third and it didn’t meet my expectations.
Sierra and Ethan were best friends and then they weren't. As they try to get back together, many secrets are in the way and may well tear them apart for good. They are fabulous characters who's story and journey captivated me from the first page. I can't wait to see what's next from this author. I honestly volunteered to review this arc.
This is the third and last part of a trilogy. We find out more about Ethan's and Nev's past and a lot more about Ethan's character. These two carry a lot of guilt and it makes their relationship difficult to maintain. There are some surprises that kept me reading the story until I finished. I received an advance copy of this book from the author and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Rushed off to Vegas was simply that, rushed off. Ethan brushes Sierra off to play poker. Not one to be held back she jumps into the high stakes game and wins a stakeholder piece of his company. But something isn't right.
For a chance to move forward they need to take a step back. Inviting Sierra to the place where they first met and made plans could possibly change everything.
So what happens for this steamy couple? Definitely one-click for this conclusion.
I enjoyed reading all three of these books and I recommend them to other readers. I can’t say that I loved the epilogue, it was a bit odd, not at all what I expected. However, I assume that it leads to another story.
Childhood friends reunite to find their feelings are still connected. Secrets, lies, a hint of mystery are mentioned throughout the three stories. I would love to have delved deeper into their feelings, relationship and experience together.
I did enjoy reading these books although I really think they could have been put into one book, having said that though was a good little story and really liked the ending.
Silk and Thorne book 3. Ok this book wasn't much better than book 2. I was just as disappointed. Half of it didn't make sense and the other half was just ok.
Was lucky enough to get an ARC for this book... I have to say that this one caught my attention.. I am now truly invested in sierra and Ethan story.. but I wanted to kick Ethan... Glad I read this...
