Marriages of convenience that become more have inspired numerous romances. With A Christmas Proposition, Jessica Lemmon gives us a steamy novel with a frienemies to lovers spin you can cuddle up with just in time for the holidays.

Dallas’s it-girl, Stefanie Ferguson, has put her brother’s mayoral campaign at risk and to fix it she needs to get married ASAP. A seemingly impossible task until she’s trapped on a road trip with her brother’s best friend, Emmett Keaton. He had long ago vowed to himself to protect the Fergusons, but he never imagined getting married on Christmas Day to Stefanie was part of the deal.

Emmett and Stefanie are contrasting characters. Emmett’s middle name might as well be Scrooge, while Stefanie is all about giving, especially during the holidays. Even though they’ve know each other for a while, in a short period of time they discover unknown depths that heightens their attraction which, by the way, causes sparks to fly off the pages. Lemmon also includes the warm cast characters from past books, making Stefanie’s family very appealing.

A Christmas Proposition is a book #3 of the Dallas Billionaires Club by Jessica Lemmon. It is a charming and sexy standalone contemporary romance, told from both points of view with a happily ever after, no cliffhanger.

"They were contrasting in every way. The filthy-rich girl. The wrong-side-of-the-tracks guy."
This has been the year of Christmas-themed romance novels for me. This is the fourth one I've read so far. It's the simplest one, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Just a simple, love-filled, heartwarming love story, at Christmas.

"He tasted...amazing. Like spiced cider and a capable, strong, heartbroken man who kept his hurts hidden from the outside world."
When I started reading this book, I immediately felt more connected to Emmett than I did to Stef, and that helped me understand him better. The broody guy who doesn't love Christmas because his life was shattered during the holiday season once. I was smiling as I was reading because that's what this book does to you. It puts a smile on your (or my) not-so-happy Christmas-y face.

"She’d walked into the room and her presence had slain the demons."
It's not that I don't understand Stefanie. Her heart's in the right place. She loves her family and is definitely loved back. I love that she's showing them that she's capable of making her own decisions and choosing for herself. Of living her life the way she wants to. And that takes guts, even if you have the money for it.

"She wanted him to know that he was as worthy of her as she was of him. That they’d found forever in the unlikeliest of circumstances."
This is a fast-paced romance. They've known each other for 10 years and were both convinced of their dislike for each other. Emmett is her brother's head of security, dedicated to protecting the Mayor of Dallas and his family. But maybe he's more aware of her than she knows, and maybe she's more attentive to what he does and his grumpy face than he knows too. So yes, a marriage of convenience was the perfect thing to finally get them to act instead of just staring.

"'Time for both of us to make better Christmas memories.'"
This is a love story between two people who are really very different, but the same where it counts. Between the rich it girl who is seen as the screw-up by so many, but who just wants to make it on her own terms, and the guy who thinks where he comes from and his past are more important than where he's going, or that any of it should define his life. It's not. And it shouldn't.

They're giving love, and themselves, a chance. Everyone else be damned.

Trouble seem to find Stefanie Ferguson, no matter what she does. But when you're the youngest of one of the wealthiest family in Texas and the mayor's sister, being a famous heiress mean your mistakes are more often than not pointed at. But Stef only misstep was wanting a little fun and trusting the wrong man. And when said man is starting false rumor, Stef's sister-in-law (who's also her PR consultant) unintentionally give her an idea to deal with it : a marriage of convenience. There's just one problem with this plan : among all her contacts, our heroine can't find a single man she trust enough to marry, even if it's just gonna be temporary. A Christmas retreat in San Antonio, where her brother's friend and head of security insisted on driving her will suddenly sparks an other idea in Stef's mind. And that's how, Stef, the biggest fan of Christmastime will have a Christmas wedding with Emmett, a Scrooge ;p

A Christmas Proposition is book 3 in the Dallas Billionaires Club series and my favorite so far. With a little more than 200 pages book, it usually means a romance where everything happen so fast, but I guess Stef and Emmett's love story worked for me because I found them so complementary together and even if we only saw a glimpse of attraction between them before, the way they naturally clicked convinced me right away they were right for each other.I liked the heroine enthusiasm for all things Holidays and Emmett had good reason to not share her interest for it. A family tragedy tainted his whole life and made him the strong, silent type. It was sad how it also tainted the way he saw himself as less than her or that he thought she deserved better than him because of where he comes from. But my favorite part was seeing the hero give Stef the trust and support her family wasn't giving her and seeing her listen to Emmett, how understanding she was of him and probably making him feel for the first time that he was worthy of love.

A Christmas Proposition by Jessica Lemmon is the third story in her Dallas Billionaires Club series, about a powerful Texas family, the Fergusons. The first two stories dealt with the two brothers and their complicated love lives, but I’ll be honest, I’ve been waiting for their sister Stefanie to get her happy ending and I’m happy to say that this one worked on all counts for me!

Stefanie Ferguson has the knack of getting into scrapes and needing a bit of a rescue, much to her chagrin. As luck would have it, an ex-hookup is trying to make trouble for her brother Chase’s mayoral campaign. When her sister-in-law Penelope, a PR expert suggests that for any other client she’d arrange a quickie marriage to quell rumors of any imminent reunion with the troublemaker, Stefanie takes her words to heart. But only one name as a possible husband comes to mind – her brother’s head of security and best friend, Emmett Keaton.

When Emmett offers to drive Stefanie to what’s supposed to be a girl’s weekend away to help fend off any paparazzi, he never expects her to propose! But Stefanie thinks Emmett would be the perfect choice to play the part of her husband for a few months. They get along (sort of) and he’s always been protective of her, plus he has his own money and would keep her confidences. As it turns out, Stefanie is really arranging a Christmas charity dinner for those less fortunate in a town Emmett is intimately familiar with – his own, and unbeknownst to Stefanie he’d have been on the receiving end of exactly that type of dinner in his childhood days. They are from very different worlds, even if he has made a successful career for himself now. But the sparks of attraction lead them to wonder – can their marriage come with a happy ever after?

A woman who loves the holiday season and a man who gives Scrooge a run for his money find themselves in a precarious situation trying to manage a public relations nightmare; wow, I loved this fun emotional, and steamy marriage of convenience Christmas story from author Jessica Lemmon!

Billionaire heiress Stefanie Ferguson seems to find trouble even wherever she goes and her latest problem is a man spreading marriage rumors that she not only didn’t agree too but doesn’t want and it comes at a bad time for her brother’s mayoral campaign and threatens to mess up a commitment she has planned until her brother’s head of security, Emmett Keaton, offers to keep an eye on her as she travels out of town. But, Stefanie has big plans for Emmett and soon finds out he is all on board.

I loved the chemistry between Stefanie and Emmett and the fact that they both realize pretty quickly how much they admire and like one another. Emmett was surprised by Stefanie and what she had accomplished for the last several years without her family or the media figuring out what she was doing. Stefanie had great empathy for the incident that impacted Emmett at an early age and changed his life forever. I enjoyed watching them get close and falling in love even when it was the last thing they both expected. Their chemistry was off the charts and what I loved most is neither Stefanie nor Emmett was sure how they felt about that considering their relationship and marriage had a time limit.

A solid romance that I could not put down, I loved A Christmas Proposition!

What A delightful sexy Christmas romance to help keep a girl warm on a cold winters night.

Emmett is head security for the mayor and his best friend Chase Ferguson, he will do anything to protect Chase and his family. Even do the unthinkable. Emmett is charming in his own way, once I discovered his past it explains why he keeps his distance from having anything permanent.

Stefanie the Princess/ baby of the Ferguson family, even at 30 years of age they still treat her like she is a unruly child. Stefanie finds herself in a bit of trouble, she has an answer to the problem. Well sort off. Now all she needs to do is convince Emmett its a good idea. Stefanie’s keeps growing from book to book in the Dallas Billionaires Club Series .

Oh Emmett and Stefanie were fun to watch their witty banter and sensual steam for each other is unmistakable. Jessica Lemmon did a brilliant job of pairing these two characters. Someone any weaker, Stefanie would have flattened with just a glance. Stefanie balances Emmett as well in that she pulls him out of his black hole he likes to live in and that it is okay to have fun. Can they over come all the obstacles to find a HEA? Anything is possible when love is involved.

Oh how I adore the Ferguson family A Christmas Proposition is Stefanie’s story. It’s only fitting that Stefanie’s brothers stick their noses into her personal life since she had some fun with theirs. LOL As a fan of Jessica Lemmon’s books and this series, I am wondering with Stefanie being the last Ferguson will there be more books in the Dallas Billionaires Club Series? The plot has characters with wit, heart, sensuality, strong family values, loyalty and forgiveness.

A Christmas Proposition
4 Stars

No stranger to scandal, Stefanie Ferguson once again finds her name associated with an obnoxious former suitor and the only way to distract social media is to marry as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the only trustworthy candidate, Emmett Keaton, is the one man who pushes all her buttons. Can Stefanie and Emmett get past their mutual animosity to address the underlying passion that has always been there?

Lemmon saved the best for last.

Stefanie and Emmett's love/hate chemistry is off the charts, and the book avoids the problematic pitfalls of the first two installments, i.e., the heroines' 'doormatish' tendencies.

Stefanie is a lovely heroine who truly cares about people despite her "poor little rich girl" facade. Emmett's backstory is heartbreaking and goes a long way toward his reluctance to form an emotional attachment to Stefanie. Thankfully, he gets some sense knocked into him and alls well that ends well.

Looking forward to reading more Jessica Lemmon books.

I’ve have read quite a few Jessica Lemmon books in the past and quite enjoyed the ones that I have read from her. When I found out that Jessica Lemmon was going to be the Harlequin Desire line, I was absolutely ecstatic, and I couldn’t wait to dive right into it, and see if they would be as good as her other books would be, and I have to say that I wasn’t disappointed by this entry in the Desire line.

Granted this was the last one out of the trilogy with the first two I have yet to read in this series, but since this had a Christmas theme to it I decided to start with this one. Plus I was excited about the premise of the older brother’s best friend. It was a very good start in Jessica Lemmon’s foray in the Desire world, and I was really glad that I started with this one.

What I appreciated about this one was that this in fact had a Christmassy feel to it unlike other romances that claim they are holiday reads, but really don’t have much holiday to it except for the fact that it took place at Christmas. But this one had very much of the holiday spirit to it especially in the beginning. Great descriptions of holiday decorations and holiday activities, and the fact that Stefanie and Emmett’s wedding took place at Christmas time. Plus Emmett had a bunch of baggage about Christmas that added to the holiday flair, and he may or may not have been referred to a Scrooge at some type of the book. So Christmas was very much incorporated and important in the story, which was exactly what I was looking for and what I was expecting from a Christmas read.

Despite the fact that this was a brother’s best friend romance, this wasn’t your typical type of the story. Usually these stories have lots of build up from years and years of suppressed attraction and feelings for each other until it finally came to head as the main characters finally got together while keeping it a secret from the sibling. In this one, there was animosity between the Stefanie and Emmett in the beginning and had been there for a quite awhile, and caused them not to interact too much in the past ten years while being in the background of each other’s lives. While they acknowledged later in the book that animosity hid the attraction for one another, I didn’t quite feel that. Yes, there was tension between them, but not as much as I was expecting. I was it was the typical storyline in this trope where either one of them or both of them had feelings for one another, but kept it locked up for fear of consequences if they gave into it. And it was kind of said that it was that way for Stefanie and Emmett, but I didn’t quite believe it. Not that it was bad a thing that it would be a fresh take on the the typical trope just I think it would have added a little more tension and angst between them if it was the typical way.

Having said that I did enjoy Emmett and Stefanie’s romance. It was different. It was unique. I liked the fact that Stefanie was the one that asked for a marriage of convenience instead of Emmett. I loved seeing her spunk as she set into motion these events and Emmett just kind of falling in with her plans. And it was just a really nice, steady pace to their romance that was very enjoyable to read.

Their passionate scenes together were very hot and steamy and really showed off their chemistry that they didn’t even know that they had. It just showed that they did in fact have a connection to one another that once the acknowledged and released was just scorching. And by having that physical intimate relationship lead to more along the way as they realized how much they did have. I do wish there was an aftermath scene where they were holding each other and just talking because a lot of times those are my favorite scenes but alas that didn’t happen here, not that their lovemaking scenes weren’t good, but I just wish it was included.

Also there could have been a little more intensity and angst for my liking, but it didn’t take my enjoyment away from the book either.

Overall it was a nice, quick easy read that I throughly enjoyed. Jessica Lemmon did a really good job in this story. Other books that I have read by her have been longer, but this was a very solid read in its short format. I always do prefer longer formats now, however this one worked as a shorter format. I didn’t feel like there were big chunks missing or wish there was another hundred pages needed to complete the story to make it more satisfying. This book was just enough and was good as it was. I can’t wait to see more from Jessica Lemmon in the Desire line especially one of the ones coming next year which features a friend to lovers story. I can’t wait for that one.

“A Christmas Proposition” by Jessica Lemmon is the third book in her Dallas Billionaires Club trilogy and features the Ferguson sister, Stefanie, and head of security, Emmett Keaton.

Stefanie always brings scandal and trouble to the Ferguson name. This time, a former lover is trying to smear the reelection campaign of the mayor—Stefanie’s brother, Chase.
She is on her way out of town for a special occasion when Emmett, who works for Chase, is tasked to keep an eye on her. To say the two haven’t always gotten along is putting it mildly.
What Stefanie doesn’t know, is that Emmett’s been attracted to her for years. Based on his upbringing, he doesn’t believe he is good enough for the Ferguson heiress.
However, chemistry can’t tell the difference and the two heat up more than the sheets.

Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes, but the conflict seemed kind of weak and during the ‘Black Moment’ I thought Emmett acted out of character (why would he make a scene in front of everyone when part of his job is to keep things from getting out of hand?).
There was also a family member of Emmett’s named Michael and I wonder if the author was aware she named a character Michael Keaton!

With that said, overall I did enjoy “A Christmas Proposition” and I think Ms. Lemmon’s voice fits the Harlequin Desire line perfectly.

Stephanie is from a wealthy family and constantly beset by scandal, both made up and real. Now a new rumor hits, and right before her brother's upcoming re-election campaign for mayor. A rival is spreading the rumor that they're engaged, so Steph decides the easiest way to beat the rumor is to marry someone else! She convinces her brother's long time friend and body-guard to enter into a temporary (but very real) marriage, and they elope on Christmas Eve.

Short, sweet, and a very convoluted set up, but then again that's half the fun of these fake dating/marriage/etc stories. I really have no idea why Steph thought getting married would help, but after a certain point, I really didn't care, either. Emmett is very good as a gruff-and-silent-with-a-heart-of-gold type, and the two had some good chemistry as their personalities clashed. Once they did get married, though, there wasn't much in the way of conflict so there didn't end up being a lot of payoff for the "fake" (or at least, "intending to be temporary") aspect. It was more a way to get the leads together than a source of friction in and of itself. Also I really didn't care if Steph's brother stayed mayor, and since that was a major motivational factor...meh.

Stefanie Ferguson has found herself in a bit of a bind, she has an despicable ex that is waiting in the wings ready to pounce at any moment, and she wants nothing to do him. He of course is up to something that could put a wrench in her brothers political career, and she has the perfect plan to send him packing once and for all. It requires a man on bended knee, with ring in hand and a walk down the aisle on the very near horizon... but there is just one tiny issue, there is no willing man in the picture. Or is there?

Nothing says steamy read ahead like a forbidden romance, within minutes of meeting these two it was evident that they had a connection, even if it wasn't glaringly obvious to them. But in the confines of a car, on a lengthy road trip they began to appreciate the finer things about one another, that may have been dismissed before. Then an idea starts to take shape, sparks start simmering, and then all of a sudden things take a serious turn and Emmett and Stefanie are setting flames to the pages! And I was reaching for the nearest fan, and getting all dreamy eyed... and saying silent "thank-you's" to Ms. Lemmon for her perfectly crafted characters and their unforgettable story! Loved this one so much!! Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it's so good!

A Christmas Proposition by Jessica Lemmon is the third installment of the Dallas Billionaire's Club series. Stefanie and Emmett's romance literally falls into the forbidden category. Emmett is her brothers best friend and that sets him out of her stratosphere. When yet another scandal breaks involving Stefanie she knows she needs to be out of the lime light. Except she also needs a plan to get rid of the potential belief that she is going to marry her brothers enemy. Who else can help her with her plan and not risk the chance of telling the press exactly what she is up to, well no one other than her bodyguard and brothers best friend of course. This was such a fun and great read. I adored it.

I loved A CHRISTMAS PROPOSITION! An enemies to lovers story, it was the perfect heartfelt holiday read.

I have to say that I've been eagerly awaiting this book ever since Mimi and Chase's book. I knew there was something simmering between these two and I couldn't wait to find out.

There is so much more to Stefanie than being one of Dallas society's it girls. Beneath the glitter lies a heart of gold and a need to be loved. And Emmett, his tragic past is so heartbreaking, but his fierce protectiveness of Stefanie made me fall in love with him. I wanted so badly for Emmett to realize he's worthy of not only love, but Stefanie's love especially, and to finally find his place - his home - in this world.

I received an e-copy of this from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review!

I am so happy that I was chosen to read and review this one, especially after receiving the second one in the series previously to review and loving it! Regardless of whether or not I was chosen to read #3, I still would have tracked this one down to read once it was released...NetGalley and the publisher just gave me the privilege of not having to wait until December!

Reading the second book in the Dallas Billionaires Club series by Jessica Lemmon, A Snowbound Scandal, I was introduced to Stefanie Ferguson, the youngest and only girl in the Ferguson billionaire clan, and the brooding, super-serious and prickly Emmet Keaton, head bodyguard and best friend to Stefanie's older brother (and subject of A Snowbound Scandal), Chase. Their prickly, resentful dynamic towards one-another screamed "sexual tension" to me at the time, and made me really excited to start on their story, and Jessica Lemmon did not disappoint!

Stefanie Ferguson frequently (and unfortunately) finds herself at the center of scandals that always seem to threaten her bother's job as mayor of Dallas, and his campaigns for re-election. With one such scandal looming, Stefanie turns to her brother's best friend out of desperation, needing to marry to make it all go away and to hopefully stay out of the Dallas gossip blogs once and for all. But marrying Emmet, even if it's meant to be a brief marriage of convenience, turns into something that neither Stefanie nor Emmet ever imagined...mutual steamy attraction.

Loved this one...really hoping that there'll be a cousin or something that requires more to this series!

I am a huge fan of Jessica Lemmon's writing. Throw in a good Christmas story along with Jessica's writing and I am hooked for sure! This one will not leave you disappointed at all for a good quick read.

Stefanie has done some things that have caused her brother's political career to take a hit. Now she must do something drastic to try and make things better. Stefanie's family has money but she is not your typical spoiled rich girl. She actually has a really big heart. When Stefanie has what her family thinks is a girls weekend trip, her brother is determined to keep her under lock and key so that she doesn't have another chance to screw things up for him. When Stefanie throws a fit, the only way her brother agrees to her going is if his security guy, best friend and family friend Emmett goes with her.

Stefanie and Emmett set off on their journey to the getaway, only Stefanie has to tell him about the real reason for her trip and that is a benefit for less fortunate families that she puts together. While on the way, Stefanie comes up with a brilliant plan to get everyone off her back and that is to have Emmett agree to marry her at a Christmas wedding with just the two of them. They will get an annulment as soon as everything blows over and it will all be back to normal for everyone, unless...

I do not want to give any spoilers to this story because it is a really good one that you will get caught up in for sure. I think Jessica Lemmon did a great job with this and made it a magical Christmas story for sure. Highly recommend!

Emmett knows when to give up, " a long-suffering sigh sounded from his chest, and Emmett powered on the radio in surrender." Emmett is one tempting man, “what we do in bed is your call.” This close to her he could watch as her pupils darkened. “But we’re sharing the covers tonight.” I liked this book, I really loved Emmett.

A Christmas Proposition
Dallas Billionaires Club book #3
Release Date: December 4, 2018
Review Copy Provided by the Publisher

This was such a fun series. Jessica Lemmon never disappoints. The characters and spot on writing, made reading this book in one sitting a blast!

Stefanie Ferguson is a hoot. I love a sassy heroine, and she has sass in spades. She’s strong and feisty, but still soft and caring. She’s everything I love in a well rounded character.

Emmett is my favourite kind of hero. He’s alpha and broody; the strong silent type. You really feel his vulnerability coming off of the pages. He’s so unsure of his own appeal and worthiness of love.

The marriage of convenience trope is loads of fun. I loved seeing these characters fall head over heels for each other when it’s absolutely not what they had planned. Emmett’s stubbornness just slowed down his ability to admit it.

Like all of Jessica Lemmon’s novels, you get all the feels in this one. I found myself giggling ( the part with Zach’s naked backside...hilarious! ), sniffling during the “dark moment”, and feeling joy when Stef and Emmett found their way back together again.

I truly enjoyed this series about the Ferguson family. I’m sad that it’s over. I’d love to see a short story with some updates on the couples. Hint hint Jessica! 😉

I now have a new favorite author to binge read! This book was so sweet and I am such a sucker for "have to get married, fall in love later" romances.

In The Christmas Proposition, Stefanie has to get married in order to "save" her brothers re-election bid for Dallas mayor. Her recent public scandal could hurt her brothers chances at keeping his job and in order to help him she decided getting married (for just a little while) is her best bet. Who's the best man for this charade? His good friend and top employee, Emmett. Emmett thinks Stefanie's idea isn't the best but to help his good friend and keep Stefanie from marrying some other guy, he'll do it.

The romance begins almost right away and I was okay with it. Many times this romantic trope is to instalove and the characters aren't developed. In this story, each person is developed as the story goes along and you can see where they really could fall in love. Because they already knew each other, the idea wasn't that far fetched. The couple decides that they will have real sex in their fake (but real) marriage and while it isn't gratuitous, it is hot!

The ending was slightly rushed but I still enjoyed it and highly recommend it. I am certainly ready to pull books 1 and 2 and add Jessica Lemmon to my author list!

4 1/2 STARS!

Fast paced, attention grabbing and decadently yummy! You'll recognize the heroine as the younger sister of Chase and Zach Ferguson who we've met in the earlier books in the Dallas Billionaires Club series, and this book is just as juicy as they were! Lots of steam, witty banter galore, and a whole lot of fun to read!

Stefanie Ferguson is tired of being the problem child. It seems being the youngest in a successful family leaves the door wide open for childish mistakes you never seem to be able to live down. When she sees another about to happen, she'll stop at nothing to attempt to not let it ruin her brother's political career ... even proposing a marriage of convenience!

Emmett Keaton grew up with Stefanie as her brother's best friend, so he knows her and her jump before you think nature quite well. He'll marry her, but if she thinks it's going to be hands off, she's got another think coming!

There was one thing I didn't like about this book, and one thing only- the fact that I'm done with it and have to wait for another Jessica Lemmon book to be released! Simply put, I just enjoy her writing and A Christmas Proposition didn't let me down. You walk away feeling like you really know these characters because the development of each one just simply flows much like how you would get to know a new friend. We got a hint of these characters in previous books, and you just knew they had a great story to be told. Quick read that will make popcorn for dinner acceptable when you just need to find out how their story ends. In other words, you'll love it! #AchristmasProposition #NetGalley

Stefanie came up with a plan after a scandal she caused to save her brother's political career. Emmett Keaton seems to be the solution to her problem. He has always been off-limits, but she's changing the rules. They decide to get married fast to save Stefanie brother's career.... but will this marriage cause another scandal or can it become real.

Great story line, easy to follow with a great flow. I was able to get into the story and fell in love with the characters. Perfect romance!

A Christmas Proposition follows Stephanie Ferguson, youngest member of the famed Texan oil family and sister of the Mayor of Dallas, one Chase Ferguson. She also seems to draw the attention of the gossipmongers and tabloids. This time, a former hookup of hers is spouting lies, and Stephanie worries it will begin to effect her brother's re-election campaign. So what does she do? She comes up with the perfect idea: Get married.

Emmett Keaton is not only Chase's best friend but he's also his head of security. The last thing he would ever do is anything that would put his relationship with the Fergusons in jeopardy. So, when Stephanie chooses him as the guy to marry to get the tabloids off her back, while he doesn't want to say yes, he sees the merit in the plan.

Neither Emmett or Stephanie are prepared, or looking, for the marriage to be a happily ever after, they've both agreed to a separation once Stephanie is out of the limelight a little bit. However, once they start the charade, they realize that it might not be as fake as they thought. That maybe their feelings run deeper than either have realized before.

I really loved the somewhat seamless way that Emmett and Stephanie's relationship develops. They're not really enemies, and they're not friends. Emmett has just always been someone around unintentionally keeping an eye out for the Fergusons (namely Chase) but this kind of encompasses all the Fergusons. So when he and Stephanie get together it's a dawning realization for both that they are attracted to each other. It was beautiful and subtle and sweet.

'Tis the season of reading many books with a holiday setting and obviously A Christmas Proposition does this as well, but I was surprised by how much the holidays and season doesn't really play a big role in the story itself. I think if you're looking for more of the coziness of the holidays then Chase's book A Snowbound Scandal fits that bill much better.

I will say that I wanted a bit more out of the relationship / bond between Chase and Emmett. Just a smidgen more I feel would have given that kick that your best friend just married your little sister in what amounts to a fake marriage. Don't get me wrong, Jessica Lemmon certainly tackles these issues, but I felt like I wanted things to be a bit deeper on their friendship side of things.

I did love seeing Stephanie lean a little on Penelope (from Lone Star Lovers) and Mimi (from the above mentioned Snowbound Scandal). Being the only girl in the Ferguson family, I liked that Stephanie has found her "sisters" and that they offered the true support she needed and were able to look past the marriage as more than just Stephanie making another rash decision.

A Christmas Scandal works really well as a standalone, but you'll want to make sure you read the other books too because, honestly, Jessica Lemmon never disappoints.

4 Christmas magical Stars!!!!
****

We've all read the standard marriage of convenience story lines where both parties need something and by marrying each other they gain what they need. But this time we have a different twist. We first meet Stefanie Ferguson in book one of the Dallas Billionaires Club series by Jessica Lemmon. She has obviously caused some commotion but we are unsure what it is. Stefanie is the younger, pampered (so we think) sister of Chase Ferguson, Mayor of Dallas, and her other brother, Zach Ferguson. To understand where all the fiasco began you have to have read Lone Star Lovers, book one in this series. Although we’re not totally sure what happened, we know it’s not good.

Emmett Keaton is in charge of security for the Ferguson family and good friend of Chase since college days. However, he and Stefanie seem to clash at every turn and have since Emmett came to work for Chase. Now he’s been assigned to follow her to San Antonio (well really it’s Harlington, but that’s part of the story) where she is supposedly going to party with some friends. He’s irritated that he has to babysit the flighty little sister to Chase, but he takes his job seriously and off he goes with Stefanie.

But on this trip he sees a different side of Stefanie. A more mature, carrying individual, who will go to great lengths, just as he would, to protect her family. And in doing so, she now needs Emmett’s help or involvement so to speak. It’s Christmas, a holiday that Stefanie loves, and right now she needs a Christmas wedding to get herself out of trouble and protect her brother Chase in his re-election bid. So, Emmett being the loyal employee agrees to help Stefanie out and marry her.

What these two didn’t count on was their mutual attraction. They say there is a fine line between love and hate. Little did these two know that they fall more on the love side of that line than they do the hate side.

I have been reading Jessica Lemmon since she first started writing and have loved every single thing she has written. She is clever at storytelling and incorporates unique twists and turns in her books. Her skill at writing dialogue between characters in unparalleled. It has made me cry, laugh, weep, cheer, and whoop for joy. A Christmas Proposition has all those elements. Now this series does not have the depth some of her other series or books have had, and I kind of miss that, but it’s still a clever book with a happy ending and our main characters learning what love is really about. Something this time of year we can all appreciate. This book is an easy read, and something to cozy up by the fire this holiday season to read when the snow starts to fly.

I absolutely enjoyed Stefanie and Emmet’s story in A Christmas Proposition by Jessica Lemmon, book three in her Dallas Billionaires Club series. Stefanie Ferguson usually acts without thinking of the consequences. Once again she finds herself embroiled in a scandal, one. Based on an off-handed comment, she decides getting married could be the answer to this dilemma; once more, not thinking things through. Emmett Keaton, her brother’s best friend and body guard, reluctantly agrees to help her, entering into what is supposed to be a temporary marriage. A secret Christmas Day wedding might just change the dynamics for the relationship Stefanie and Emmett have with her family, and each other. I loved Emmett; his strength, understanding and feelings for Stefanie. Stefanie was harder to like when it appeared she was a selfish, thoughtless, socialite. As the story progressed I was able to see another facet, the generous and compassionate Stefanie who really cared about her family and her reputation.

Ms. Lemmon wrote a wonderful and emotional story that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and endearing characters giving Stefanie and Emmett a chance at having a real marriage. I highly recommend A Christmas Proposition to other readers.

It was fine. Honestly, though, the premise makes no sense. She's caught gallivanting with her brother's biggest nemesis in the mayoral race so decides to quiet the gossipers by...getting married? Would this influence the garden variety municipal voter? And why not just get engaged? Why go the whole hog and get married? Why was she so quiet about it if it was a PR move? Why not tell her family what she's doing? I realize that this genre requires a fair amount of suspension of disbelief, but a couple of times, I threw up my hands. It doesn't matter though. It was fine.

Two more books to go before I've read through all my Christmas category romances and can trade them in at the used book store.
