My name is Ben Conner. I’m a pro fighter, the son of a murderous wifebeater, overprotective big brother, and Evelyn Kincaid’s best friend.
I’ve known Evie since we were kids. I loathed her on first sight, and picked on her as often as she picked on me, but somewhere around my fifteenth birthday, my dislike was replaced with something else. It was foreign and new, potent and exciting.
Now Evie is the woman I’d die for. The friend I would kill for. The girl I will love for eternity.
Evie may be a pro fighter too, capable enough to fight her own battles, but she’s wild, and too spontaneous for her own safety, so I’m going to be right here, protecting her six, cleaning up her crazy, and praying she gets on board when I tell her I’ve loved her for years.
My five-year plan has been put in place, my claim has been made, but I could lose more than a round in the octagon when another fighter enters a competition he was never invited to.
What I feel for Evie was never up for negotiation, but she’s always been my wildcard.

Two stars because I like the author. It’s not five stars like I’d normally give this author because this just wasn’t for me.
Books that show one person being hurt, and then the author turns around and basically criminalizes that person....nah. Not for me. Emilia was totally gaslighting her own heroine. The heroine didn’t even have her childhood friend to lean on!
The hero threw a fit about the the heroine joining a gym that had other guys in it. She quit the gym to please him. He was sneaking behind his girlfriends back with a girl who was a problem before. No, he didn’t physically cheat, but he let this chick lean on him. Then he humiliated his girlfriend, on national tv, AND NEVER APOLOGIZE TO THE HEROINE! He played stupid and acted innocent.
So, no. This book is a big flop for me. The heroine was treated wrong. Her boyfriend and childhood friend basically gave her a big F you. She bowed down to them and apologized. WHAT FOR? She wasn’t the wrong doer! How does a author gaslight her own character?
Read the book and draw your own conclusions. Who knows, this may end up being your most favorite book of all time!

i've been waiting for this book since the first time evie appeared in the series and i have a few things to say;
– this had that angsty teenage drama vibe from 2010-2013 and i love it. ah, the first love and the first heartbreak... kinda made me feel nostalgic – i loved evie and ben. they were obviously gonna end up together and also served some really cute and angsty moments – as i said before, this was a classic teenage romance and therefore it was full of drama, jealousy, selfishness and miscommunication by BOTH PARTS. there are many things that were left unsaid, but even in the first book both characters changed so hopefully the second will be much better and more mature. – so to those who were hating on evie but worshiping ben when they both had the same behavior, hey, maybe you should check your double standard and your internalized misogynistic behavior, just saying... – TINA AND AIDEN YOU ARE STILL MY FAVS. i loved them as a couple and i loved them as parents. the same with the other rollers in their roles as uncles and aunts, and the cousins. and every little mention of every character that exists in this universe. – bean calling evie out. YES, WE LOVE TOUGH LOVE. – some of the couples having new babies... I SCREAMED – mcallistair blair my precious angel i'm already crying for you – i'm still mad about how horrible this cover is and i don't understand why we couldn't have something cute like the rollers or survivor ones – i'm kinda regretting reading this in like a day because the second part is still two weeks away and ugh
This book was very confusing. It feels like it is just missing something. It reads very much like the author knew from the beginning that these two characters were going to be together and just needed to invent some drama to pretend they might be apart. Yes you can see that coming in most second chance or childhood friends to lovers but the plot usually hides it better. As for the plot, it was confusing. I agree with Evie about this Nora person. It’s sad that something bad happened to her but it’s weird that Evies boyfriend (Ben) suddenly has to be some other girls knight and shining armor. If he was serious about Evie he shouldn’t have been in a quasi-relationship with another girl. Even as a best friend, he already had Evie... Why the rush to replace her? Nora defining shouldn’t have traveled with their family to his fright when Evie wasn’t able to go. No he didn’t event cheat with that girl, but he was wrong for letting her become so important and between him and Evie. Evie was wrong for not trying to communicate better and not coming home. But honestly she handles it the way most girls probably would. I dated someone once who was considered family to my family. And it is humiliating and causes major anxiety to have to see them at family events once you break up. I definitely avoided a few events. And she had to fear that he would bring the girl he replaced her with. I can understand her behavior. I found it so insane that at the end when he was hoping she’d be ready to get another chance he brought Nora with him to the fight? That’s exactly why they broke up in the first place. How stupid is he?
So here’s my list... I liked that neither characters slept with anyone else during their separation. That alone earned an extra star. I didn’t like all of the extra person drama. They were both wrong and immature.
I didn’t like that there wasn’t an HEA. This book basically ended on a cliffhanger. She asks him out on a date and that’s the end. That’s not even a HFN, considering that he again brought Nora, the center of their problems last time. Who keeps choosing another girl abs expects his girlfriend to be ok with it? Yea men and women can be friends but you don’t put any friend over your significant other, you surely don’t wrap your arms around them on national television. Any of these guys in these novels would flip if their woman was like that with a guy. But we are supposed to claim the heroine for her reaction, to teach female solidarity or something? Well sorry. No. The whole scenario was just wrong. That doesn’t make me anti-woman.
There was a timeline issues that i found really annoying. A bachelors degree takes approximately 3 years and 9 months. The book starts with her already in college, they break up almost at the end of her freshman year. He gives up 6 months later at Christmas when she doesn’t come home. The next page says “3 years later” but can anyone else see why that doesn’t work? She is in her senior year with one semester left for a bachelors degree. It should have been two years later. How did no one catch this? Where is the editor and or beta readers? Come on people do your jobs!
I have been waiting for Evie & Ben’s story since they first started to circle each other so many books ago and O.M.G. It was worth the wait! I am a huge fan of second generation books. I love when the world has already been built and you already have a vested interest in the characters’ lives. If you’ve been reading The Rollin On series since the beginning, you’ve seen Evie & Benny grow up and get into so much trouble. It was so much fun to watch them finally grow into who they were supposed to be! This was a great read!
This book took me on an emotional roller coaster. So many times I found myself thinking NO, STOP, DON’T! I read the book almost nonstop from start to finish and can’t wait for the second book to come out. I love the little town this author has created and and I can’t wait to see where she takes us next.
I think I might actually hate this book. It had a promising start, although I had trouble keeping up with all the side characters. I didn't know this was a continuation of a previous series so it was a bit exhausting trying to keep up with everyone and their backstories.
The two main characters were annoying and immature. Which, they are teenagers, so it's to be expected. But I couldn't take the author gaslighting her own character (stole that from another reviewer because it summed it up perfectly). The poor girl sees her bf celebrating his win with another woman on live tv and is understandably upset about it. Then he blames her for being unreasonable and her own family jumps on board too! For years after the fact too! They break up and this guy is obviously a sore subject for her, and her family thinks it's fine and dandy to shove him in her face at every opportunity and call her a spoiled brat when she is upset by his presence. Wtf! She didnt come home for years after the breakup, just to avoid seeing him, and they think that this will be received well? Also, this guy never apologized. Nope. And the way her whole family just turns on this girl was awful. Reid (new bf) may have been painted the villain at the end, but he did have a point. He pointed out that her family doesn't want this new version of her that stands up for herself when she doesn't want to be with Ben (ex-bf) anymore and gets upset when her family tries to steamroll her. They want the old version of her, the one who was the golden child who would have loved to acquiesce to their every whim.
No, I don't think I'll be reading the sequel. This dragged so much. It wasn't necessary to make it into two books. It also wasn't necessary to gaslight her own character but, whatever...

Evie and Ben has been a team since high school but Evie is going away to college and leaving Ben to fight. But can there love survive as they both grow and change
Evie and Ben have been best friends since they were 14 and 15 years old. Ben has a five year plan when it comes to Evie. He is going to be her best friend, protect her and let her overbearing dad keep the leeches away until they are older and can appreciate each other better. He is in love with her and wants her but knows that they both need to grow before than take the next jump. Evie, she is hot headed and wants what she wants when she wants it and that is Ben to be hers before she has to move across the country to go to college for the next four years. Poor Ben never stood a chance and he gives Evie what she wants the night before she leaves for school. What could possibly go wrong with two jealous and possessive teenagers living across the country from each other? Everything . . . .
From the very first chapter I was in tears and I knew that this book was going to hurt me. I have read every book of Emilia's and she has created this little world that if you have been to you, you are invested and you love these guys. Evie and Ben are the first in the next generation, the kids, and since I love this world and these characters so much I hate seeing the kids hurt. I didn't want to see them hurt but while it is a work of fiction and obviously some things are exaggerated for entertainment purposes, Emilia writes real and real life isn't a straight line of hearts and flowers. And with Wildcard, we got all of it, highs and lows, happy and sad, laughter and tears, mushy and angry. I am not gonna lie I didn't like the ending of this book but I know that it isn't Ben and Evie's ending, that I will get more of them in Reshuffle but this book was amazing and I can't wait to see how the rest of their story unfolds. I highly recommend this book.
I love the whole Rollin Series and now to read the stories of the 2nd generation is quite exciting. Smalls and Ben’s adult story has to start somewhere. Emilia Finn does a great job with their young love story. The going away to college and not coming home more often, which her rich parents could easily afford, threw me a little. Smalls is young and her character needed to age to adulthood without her and Ben being together every day. Biggie could only threaten Ben for so many years. Hence the storyline of Smalls going away to College. This gave her time to mature. So thankful she remained loyal to Ben and Ben to her through this transition to adulthood. If they had slept with other people this book rating would be 1 Star instead of 5 star! I also appreciate that the author didn’t make college life a big deal, more just a passage of time. Ready for the 2nd book in this series.

Ok. First, this is NOT a full story. It is full length but there is more. Shame on you Ms.Finn!
But seriously, I can't say enough how much I LOVED (and hated) this book. I cried, I laughed, I wanted to jump to the end just to see what happened. It was SO hard not to jump to the end because I just couldn't stand not to know how it turns out. Nora, Reid - oh my.
What a fabulously written twist and turn story that has you on the edge of your seat to find out what happens next.
May cannot come fast enough but now I know why there isn't a blurb for that story yet. Bravo on a well written story that made this reader's heart pound on the Rollin On rollercoaster that is the Kincaid family.
DNF. Maybe at some point it gets better but everytime the talk it's like a speech at a funeral or a wedding. About how great and responsible they are and how beautiful and caring they are. Every time! I got 33% in and that's as long as i could handle it
Grown up Evie isn't nice. If it was Ben behaving like Evie does he'd be called abusive. I love Emilia Finn's stories but this is immature and lacking. It feels like the author is trying to cash in on The Rollers fame.
I hated Evie. Loved her as a toddler in Aiden’s book but Evie as a teen/adult... I didn’t like her. I’ve never doubted Ben’s love for Evie. I’ve seen bits of it in his mom’s and Oz’s book. In Gunner’s and Libby’s book and other books as well.
I get that she felt insecure and felt like she was second best when it came to Nora but she should have given Ben the benefit of the doubt instead of accusing him of being more than friends with Nora and taking her to their secret spot. She claims that Ben would hang out with Nora in high school to make her jealous but I only remember them hanging out and watching movies in his home and Oz giving Nora a ride home (which happened in his parents book, Rewriting You).
But Evie feelings are valid and I get it though, she didn’t want to be the bad guy for telling Ben to not talk to Nora because Nora went through some serious stuff (which happened in Pawns in the Bishop's Game). And that while she was in college, Nora was over there with Ben.
But Evie must be blind though if she doesn’t see that Ben only has eyes for her. They’ve literally talked about this and she still doubts him because of his savior complex?? There was also so much… miscommunication. Evie gets fired up easily and is stubborn, but Ben could have easily told her (which he did, I can’t remember which chapter though but he said something about how girls or people show up all the time) that he didn’t take Nora to the fight with him, she just showed up and he tried to get her out of there because she was overwhelmed by the noise. I also felt like he didn’t tell her this sooner because he didn’t know that this was bothering Evie, like she literally stopped taking his phone calls. And he could have told her he didn’t take Nora to the spring but for some reason he hesitated when she asked. (He paused when she asked, right? That’s why she assumed?(
I personally thought he was being a concerned friend. But I also get that not a lot of people would agree with me and would think that he’s being sleazy and secretive with another girl. But I’m also the type to have a bunch of guy friends so if my significant other can trust me with them and give me the benefit of the doubt then I can trust them with their female friends. And I’m also the type of person who’d check up on Nora too even if I secretly did hate her because I guess I have a savior complex too with my own inner demons so if I can take some pain away from others and somehow make it a little less sucky (like Abigail in Winner Takes All) then I’d gladly do it.
I agreed with everything Lucy “Bean” said in chapter 25. I loved that Bean chose to stay close to home so she can help Mac train and so she could be a nurse in case his heart gives out on him again. And for putting Evie in her place. I literally can't wait to read hers and Mac's book next. I will cry if it's just as bad as this book.
“Yeah, I chose Mac, because he’s a good man, and I love him enough to make sure he’s okay. I love him enough to change my major at school, and learn things that’ll make sure he stays healthy. I love him enough to train him up to fight again, even though I disagree with my whole fucking heart with his choices. I think he should sit down and get fat, because fighting is gonna get him killed. But do I tell him that? No! I study to become a nurse so that next time he dies, I might be able to help while we wait for the next surgery, and the next after that, and the next after that.”
“...but if he’s gonna fight no matter what, then I’m gonna make sure he has the best trainer and the best nurse. Because I was raised amongst the passionate love that you scoff at. I was raised to love fiercely, and unconditionally.”
“We all knew you were a spoiled brat, Smalls. Hell, we’ve made bets on that too, but I had no clue you were so fucking weak. I had no clue you’d come this low.” She stands and pushes her hair over her shoulder. “It’s embarrassing that you can’t love Ben the way he loves you. You don’t see me crying just because Mac hangs with you or Livi.”
“Oh, please,” she laughs. “Maybe you need to watch Ben die the way I watched Mac take his last breaths. Maybe then you’ll see what’s important.”
There was just so much unnecessary drama in this. I felt like it was so incomplete, like it’s missing a chunk of the story. I know it's a duet but somethings missing. I was so excited for this book, there was so much building up from the previous books but it was just simply meh. The time jumps were confusing. The first like 2 chapters indicated how much time went by but after that? It was random and I’d read it like … is this a time jump? How much time flew by?
The reader is thrown into this book as if the author expects you to know the 20+ characters. When reading the acknowledgments it turns out that this is a continuation series to a different series involving all the parents. Good in theory but it would have been nice to have that a little more clear. Don’t worry about feeling lost for too long because one of the main characters, Evie, will hit you over the head in each chapter reminding you that she’s 1. Dyslexic (but with numbers...) 2. She grew up in her family’s gym since she was a toddler 3. She has a male best friend 4. She wears booty shorts to the gym 5. Her friend died of a heart attack at 14 6. She apparently has billions in a bank account from her biological dad. Her family makes her move all the way across the country to go to an Ivy League school (but she has barely passing grades?) and she flounders. The whole point of contention is some random girl that shows up at her boyfriend’s fight when she’s not able to go. Without reading the earlier books the reader is left wondering who this random person is and WHY it’s such a big deal. She has issues. She doesn’t do crowds. She doesn’t do loud noises. She doesn’t trust men. So the bigger question and issue, really, is why is this girl at a televised pay-per-view UFC-like fight?! The loudest, packed arena, with big sweaty men beating each other up seems like the perfect place to take her. I also had a huge problem with the extreme jealousy issue that Ben has. Dude. Your girlfriend went to a gym to work out. She hits the reader over the head that she’s been in one since she was a toddler so why is it such a big deal? I wanted to strangle him. Oh, by the way. Did you know she’s dyslexic? But you know... only with numbers.
Sincerely worst book. Evelyn was so annoying in every possible way. Their friendship was good but when they started as a couple horrible. she didn’t even want him to have female friends except bean (she is his half-sister) and the other sister.
The only things I loved were the moments between the family. Best family trope. I missed them a lot. Evelyn is so selfish, and if you read well you’ll see everything that happened was bc of her. Her miscommunication bc that WAS HER fault.
Bean, Bean, BEAN. LUCY KINCAID the best girl, since always. Loved all her moments. Evelyn is older for two years I think but bean was more well she acted better. She showed her intelligence and her points of views without making scenes.
Evelyn thought bc she was the first girl in the new generation but until new books she is the worst. Those are two types of spoiled princess. The one you like bc even being one it doesn’t let that make them act like a real bitch. The other one is the one you hate, bc think thing abt them that doesn’t come close to them.
And Ben? Ben Conner has one thing of his dad and its the name. He is the best, best friend and boyfriend. Never make her choose (in one special part in the book) always tried to open her mind (in another special part of the book) He did everything she wanted so they could be together bc she is so selfish bc she couldn’t see more far away from his ass. Like she couldn’t rise more he head.
I LOVE THE KINCAIDS. I REALLY DO. EVERYTHING OF THEM AND ABOUT THEM. But for me Evelyn isn’t one. She doesn’t have what it needs to be A KINCAID.
I really hoped better but well, I hope better for Bean’s book and the others
I loved Evie and Aiden's relationship when they first met, and it got even better the longer they were Biggie and Smalls. She was adorable when she was little, even with the feisty attitude. However, as she got older, she became more of a spoiled brat, especially when she didn't get her way, which obviously hasn't changed much. Ben was also an adorable little guy, but after experiencing severe trauma by his father, it changed his life in ways that no one could predict. He became a loud mouth punk that constantly stressed about the safety of his female family and friends. With age comes maturity...... at least that's what most people say. For Ben, this seems to be true. He's still got the mouth, but deciding to go Pro has brought on a maturity that I honestly didn't think would be achieved any time soon. Evie on the other hand is definitely not getting her way, which is putting her in a situation that will take her out of her comfort zone, and she's definitely not handling it well. It's going to be interesting seeing how this second generation comes into adulthood, as well as the new developments in their lives. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and author.
I would highly recommend that you read all of the series that are connected, starting with the Rollin On series. There are numerous character crossovers between all of these series. By reading all of them, it will give you a better understanding of the characters, the connections, and the dynamics between all of them. They're all absolutely fantastic stories that you won't want to miss!
Truer words have never been written. We are nown(FINALLY) at the next gen for Emilia's "Roller World". Evie Kincaidnand Ben Connor are meant to be together. They've spent their whole lives together-fighting with each other, training - just everything. I don't want to give away a lot of the story but Emilia hit a home run. She captured what its like to really have to fight for what you want. At her parent's insistence Evie has to get her degree and go to college but she doesn't want to leave Ben and her entire family. Kincaids are close people. There are so many struggles she has when trying to navigate college, a long distance relationship and growing up. There's misunderstandings galore and at times you want to smack them both (good Lord they could try the patience of a saint)-but then you realize it's part of them finding themselves and how this new person fits with the other. There are of course hurdles but you still feel the love, the longing, the "wanting to be there but can't let go of my pride". Ben , even with his temper, is definitely the stuff book boyfriends are made of. He's so protective , fierce and loving to those in his circle. Evie is just as protective and loving but can be so impulsive sometimes its maddening. The book ends with a not so cliffhanger but not a happy ending. I can't wait for the conclusion of their story. Its not a set in stone deal just yet. Wildcard is right. Oh and man I hate Reid.
This book was agonizing, sweet, and will have you cheering for Ben the whole time (even if he wasn’t thinking and not communicating well in the beginning— still love him😍)
When they first got physical... 😍🙌🏿 When she went off to college, that broke my heart. When he had Nora in the ring at the end of the show, I knew it was gonna be bad.
All the drama after that... oh my goodness. Her family is quiet crazy, but I love it. To have a relationship so close with so many family members all close together, is something I long for and this book just melted my heart with their family dynamic. Plus, they gave me a good laugh throughout the book💛
The only thing that I found in the book that was a little annoying, was I read a few sentences/statements that were said a few times throughout the book in different chapters. At times, it was repetitive and had me rolling my eyes. Thankfully though, it wasn’t to the point where it had me distracted from the story or make me want to stop reading.
I have to admit, I was getting angry towards the end of the book because I thought it was a stand alone book. But HAVE NO FEAR, there are 4 or 5 more books in the series! 😂 To say I was happy and relieved to find out there were more books, would be an understatement.
Ready for the next book👏🙌🏿💕

I didn't mean to skip reviewing this book for so long but I am glad I did. I just finished reading this book for the third time. The first time I would have given it 1-2 stars, second time I would have given it 3 stars. After reading it for third time, I am settling on 4 stars. I wish I could give 3.5 stars but I can't.
The first time I read this book I was against it! After reading it again, I can appreciate the story. They are both so young and ill-equipped to be in such an intense relationship. Adding the stubbornness and their ability to pick at each other's pain spots so easily, it is definitely believable. I think they would definitely push each other away and be combative.
There are a few key points that were frustrating. The fact that they sent her all the way across the country just for college was not believable. There I no reason for such distance. The timeline of college, her age, and breaks was not quite right and frustrated me numerous times during the read.
Overall, I liked the story and journey they went on for each of them. Evie was so frustrating with her inability to slow down and hear Ben. They were both so combative and hurtful which I think is pretty real to teen relationships.
Five stars as always, these books are one hell of a ride but it’s a ride I’m glad to be on. It’s been amazing reading the lives of the next generation, on Ben and Evie’s story of friends to lovers. These two are as stubborn as each other, and for as much as they are stubborn, their love is just as strong.
Wildcard is a sports romance, if that’s what you want to call it but it’s more than that. It’s so much more. From Rollin’ On to Survivors to Checkmate and now Stacked Deck, these books are one hell of a ride but it’s a ride I’m glad to be on. I’ve finally caught up with one day to spare before the next book is released... and I’m so damn excited... if you’re looking for something that will fill your heart with so much joy but also crush it at the same time, make you smile with glee but also cry your damn eyes out, then I recommend this book for you because Emilia Finn will always take you on one hell of a ride. It’s one that will leave you wanting more.
(To have the best experience with this story, I would suggest reading all the series from the very beginning)
The wildcard book is book one of the Stacked Deck Series, a spinoff of the Rollin On series. It is the children of the characters in The Rollin On series, the next generation. All by the same author Emilia Finn. Please start with the Rollin On Series PLEASE. You need all the background from the first series.
I was not sure how I would like these books, as I had read about them as children, and now we were moving into their romantic part of their life. The Benjamin Conner and Evelyn Kincaid story, Ben and Evie's story, is everything you are looking for in a great read. It starts when they are children, and they will make you love them, you will cry, you will scream in your head, you will laugh out loud, and it will break your heart. This book is straight-up about a pair of strong-willed, young people who cannot use their words to communicate amid chaos.
The character development was good and well thought out; it built on the knowledge that the reader had from previous books.
This book does not have a HEA, and it does have a cliffhanger.
>Book Review – Wildcard >I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 1st in the Stacked Deck series and ends without an HEA. This new series is all about the original Rollers’ children. The Rollers are all super protective, which is fun to see. Evie (Smalls) and Ben are the focus of this book. They have been frenemies since they were 3 and 4 years old. Evie is forced to go off to college. Leaving her boyfriend, Ben behind is hard on both of them. I love the scenes with Ben and Evie together and Aiden and the Rollers all Alpha and scary. >Evie and Ben are really young, though, and a lock of communication skills and young jealousy cause them to break up. The book skips 3 years and then has Ben and Evie brought back together. Evie is dating a loser, but Ben is never shown to date anyone. He is now a successful fighter. No mention is made of any temptation Ben has in regards to sexy women throwing themselves at him. >This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 4 stars. I think too much time is skipped.
I love this author. The Rollin’ on series is among my favorites ever and the families and characters Emilia Finn has created are so real and the reader becomes invested in their lives and successes. This next generation of Rollers is the Stacked series. I was so looking forward to each story. I’m not sure I have ever been so let down by the “ending” of a book. It is a freaking two parter, or maybe more. Who knows how many I would have to read to get a happily ever after for Ben and Evie. Their story fizzled like a bucket of water on a match. Blank. And then at the end there’s a to be continued? I feel betrayed. Set up. I began this book looking for a happily ever after and there isn’t one. And there is no steam in this book so if that is what you are looking for look elsewhere because you won’t find it here.
If the author needed more than a book to develop this story she should have said so or written a longer book. Now I am wary of finishing the series or starting any of her others.
Ben and Evie have essentially grown up together. Enemies, to friends, to enemies, to best friends. Beneath all the fighting, they both feel so much more.
Before Evie leaves for college, she makes her move. Now, best friends are lovers and immediately thrust into a long-distance relationship.
The multiple layers of this story kept me invested when Evie, or Ben, did something so frustrating that I wanted to smack them, though it was the main theme that really held me.
Ben is working, fighting pro, following his dream while his heart is suffering. The way he loved with every piece of him had me rooting for his happily ever after.
Evie, on the other hand, behaved exactly how you would expect. And though that is the basis of her character, it drove me nuts.
Looking beyond their relationship to the central theme of the story - the friendship, family, and fighting - I could not have asked for more. Mac, Bean, and even the adults have you believing in the strength of the Rollin On Gym.
If you have read any of Emilia’s Rollin on series .... then this is positively a must read ..... and if you haven’t read any.... you NEED to ... like yesterday. It feels like coming home to read these books!
This is the start of the much anticipated Next Gen series which sees everybody’s favourite feisty and strong willed Evie and everyone’s favourite Sasquatch (Bennie) try to navigate the murky waters between friendship and lovers.... to how that looks and feels and changes as they move from teenagers to young adults....
You will laugh and cry and rage and sigh.... it’s a wild ride with turns and twists... some good times and some heartache.... but overall..... it’s a book you will not put down until it’s absolutely finished gripping you (hint - this comes on the last page 😂). Then you will be counting the days until it’s sequel comes out and you can find out the rest of the story for these two perfect matches .....
This is not a feel good book, most of the book is quite sad and frustrating. However, given the ages of the main characters in the book, I felt it was true to real life teenagers. How many 17 & 19 year old kids can handle a long distance relationship? There is miscommunication, there is jealousy, there is insecurities, and a lack of maturity that is needed for a great relationship to work. Most 17 & 19 year olds can’t navigate a relationship even if it isn’t long distance. Therefore this book was perfect for the characters to give them the chance to grew up some, mature and realize that the whole world doesn’t revolve around what they want. I’m really looking forward to the next book and hope that the storyline is heavy on Ben & Evie so we can see a mature happy relationship emerge.
