The Cubi #7

Law of Beauty

Rate this book
The newest Royal of the Cubi race is the one with the heaviest burden to carry. That is the birthright of any new Royal. Armed with a story told by his closest ally and one of the oldest Royals alive, Daniel feels better equipped to face what’s coming. Theoretically, at least.

When inviting humans to his House to further cooperation between their races, Daniel is also forced to face the men who decided to try to eradicate his race. However hard he tries to live up to his position, he luckily has people around him who will support him as he stumbles his way toward being a competent King. One unwavering supporter is the old Viking King with an ax to bury. Or two, as it is.

Any young Kingdom needs a strong foundation, and it’s still settling as those who are to help support Daniel are finding their places and roles, too. And Daniel isn’t the only one stumbling.

Utterly Entertaining

Unpredictable, addictive, original, intense, raw , touching, bold, adventurous, sensual, hot AF, kinky, provoking, witty , magical and utterly entertaining comes to mind , when I think about Law of Beauty.

In other series , that be TV , Movies, and Books, by season 7 /Book 7 ; we tend to read/see repeat plots and lack of creativity . Yet, that isn't the case here, with Law of Beauty, Book 7 of The Cubi Series it only gets better .

The Cubi Series is probably my all-time favourite paranormal stories. The authors world building is so vivid and detailed, you feel like you are part of their culture. With each book we get to know more about the Cubi race, their history and their culture. All weaved together in stories that have love, warmth laughter and of course sadness and heartache.

We have a young King in Danial who is wiser than his years, but always seeks guidance from his council and his friend Elakdon’s his confidant who is an elder king.

In this latest instalment Danial must serve justice to US Military personnel that co-ordinated the attack against the Great house and killed many young Cubi cubs. We see his former human self and his cubus self-emotions battle as he decides. It is swift and brutal but considering the young that his kingdom lost for an unprovoked attack its fair.

We also see how Danial and his lovers Seldon and Caledon, along with his friends and family, support each other in troubling times. Especially as Caledon nurses his long-time friend in his final days, and Caledons grief. But also, Seldon who is struggling with his new responsibilities as the kings righthand man, when he knows his skills would be better place at doing what he does best, Justice.

The continuing journey of Danial and the cubi people make a multi layered and detailed yet easy and interesting read, oh and yeah lots of hot steamy sex, (well the cubi do feed on sex after all).

All in all the book is very well balanced, with loveable characters that you cheer for, A unique world and cultures that just come alive on the pages.

I can't say I happily enjoyed all of this book, but in its favor, it did add to the overall context of the series story arc and fleshed out characters and the world. It's heavy a great deal of the time, with the characters highly stressed. It's also brutal at times, downright gory. I found myself unable to sleep with a certain portion of it running through my head. There continues to be a lot of sex, though perhaps not as much as a couple of the previous books, as there's so much else going on inside the characters' heads.
Daniel seems to absorb more of a Cubi mindset in this book, though he does still try to make connections with human characters and wants to bring the Cubi people out into the open more. However, I find his continuing desire to increase the Cubi population by means of kidnap, (the same way that he had been taken in), along with his acceptance of the punishments used in the Cubi world, to be rather unlikeable. He's trying to bridge between the older Cubi ways and modernizing, but my own opinion is that he needs to be far more revolutionary - again that's my own emotion and opinionated self talking.
There are certain generalizations about the American people, government & the military that are rather simplistic too, somewhat caricature-like, but that's been a facet of the book from the start. Since this is an alternate, sci-fi kind of reality, it could feasibly be given a pass.
Overall, I'm still curious about how it will all end, though I'm sorely tempted to skip straight to the last book.

Good, but I had some trouble believing a few things

This book was a little less believable than the previous ones. The treason was committed by United States officers, against the directives of the US president. It didn’t make sense that the Cubi would punish traitors to the US for their treason. They were punished for their war crimes against the Cubi, as per the treaty between the Cubi and the US government. Mixing the two up, perhaps, was a bit of psychological control? Maybe? Otherwise, it just didn’t make much sense.

I also am not sure that I buy that Nol-Elakdon has the time, or the desire to rule and reign in his own kingdom, AND act as Likil-Nol under Beaudon. Yes; he has his own Ilkil and Likil to hold down the fort back home, but he has his own responsibilities, his own fountains, and people to care for on the other side of the ocean.

6-1/2 years in the Marines and 3 years in the Army and I thought the Blood Eagle was far too humane for the brutality of the deaths of the Cubi children. A humane death penalty has proven to be totally worthless, anyway.

This is the 7th book in the Cubi Book. Journey that Nol Beaudon & Nol Elakdon takes now to bring the Cubi nation back from the betrayal and slaughter that happen with the Military. We see the struggle that Seldon going through and where he truly can be in the position his king wants him. He is a protector that has to make the hard choices. The council has made decision for the one who committed treason and the punishment was something the Viking of old. Highly recommend this book and series you will fall in love with the characters. If you love hot and steamy scenes this is the one

I can't believe I've made it through 7 books, but these books are just so good and intense and page-turney. Daniel is still such a great character, I really do enjoy him compared to when he was first introduced. I like watching him figure out how best to be the king that his people need him to be. Seldon and Caledon have their own issues to work through in this book but the book is still very Daniel focused. The sex scenes are plentiful and steamy just like any Cubi book. The new characters were great and hopefully we'll see more of them in the next 2 books. I would definitely recommend this book.

Keeping the interest of your reader can be challenging for such richly detailed writings, such as the Cubi series.

Each book manages to have a life of it's own, while maintaining a well written story line, from one installment to the next.

The Cubi are very protective of their own. The MCs build, grow and maintain their individualism and relationships.

Daniel, Caledon and Seldon - still have their share of very steamy and explicit scenes. Expect angst and violence, as depicted through the series so far.

Just two more books left to read and I cant wait to see what is next.

I have loved this entire series. I'm good with where it ends, but I would be completely receptive to more books in this series. In this book I really liked hiw the author portrayed the struggles that Daniel continues to face as a young King. I also really like the emotions that several characters are able to display. It was a little more emotional for me to read than the other books but so worth it.

At this point, seven books into the series, I should stop being surprised at the richness and depth of the world building, the complexity of the characters, and the author’s ability to balance steam and powerful emotions while telling one heck of a story, but somehow it’s always a pleasant surprise. Are there hard choices to be made in this book? Absolutely, and Daniel makes them, with, of course, the support of those who love and care for him. I am never going to get tired of this series, and I’ll be so sad when I reach the last book.

*I recieved an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Wow! This was an intense read. I loved reading this book and I love watching the characters grow and develop. This book showed the extreme measure the Cubi are willing to go to protect their people. After dealing with the traitors Daniel, his men and Alakadon deal in their own ways the responsibility and the aftermath of such a drastic measure. Although, its not all bad times. Everyone is more open to dealing and learning from each other. And for once things may be looking up for the future of the Cubi race. I am absolutely in awe with this author and thoroughly love his books. I can't wait to read more of this series.

Wonderful read

This series is HOT. Not only amazing people, but facing prejudices, fears, political problems. Learning to accept what you need and where you are, rather than what you imagined the world to be. And did I mention HOT? I highly recommend this series and book.

In this latest addition to the series each person in Daniel’s world is finding they’re place in they’re new home. Each new law, punishment, and changling has a place. This series so far has been unique and enjoyable to read.

So far, this has been an intriguing & fascinating series as we follow the journey of a young untouchable (Daniel) who evolved into a young king (Nol-Beaudon) that portrays a wisdom far beyond his years but still needs the guidance from his council & his confident who is an older king (Elakdon) naturally Daniel has the support & love from his lovers (Seldon & Caledon). The plot is well-paced with suspenseful incidents & an expected retaliation for attacks on the great house. The unique characters are strong-willed, complex individuals with realistic flaws as they continue to develop throughout the story-line.
There is: incubus, succubus, changelings, humans, feeders, councils, lovers, royalty, untouchables, natural beauties, twists & turns, drama, suspense, intrigue, a cubi-human relations representative (Leon Harte), secrets, disclosure, atrocities, decisions, verbal banter, disagreements, discipline, spankings, insecurities, vulnerability, political issues, negotiations, compromises, confrontations, hated, judgment, brutality, executions, friendship, lovers, contentment & explicit steamy scenes. I look forward to future books from this talented author & would recommend this series to people who enjoy reading this genre.

The interesting premise on this series, with an entire complex backstory that helped built a very original world, is getting better as the books advanced. In this book 7, Daniel, Seldon and Caledon showed their strength while kept fighting for a better future for their people and their Kingdom and struggling with politics and misunderstandings but always alongside their loyal friends and counting on the feelings for each other. This series, in my opinion, has one of the most interesting plots I've read in a very long time, combining it with the eroticism present in all the amazingly hot scenes. Wonderful reading!!
I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Wow, what a story. Law of Beauty is the 7th in the Cubi series and continues the story of Daniel, Seldon, and Caledon which just gets better the longer I read. This book has a very rich world-building and is unique. The book is filled with suspense, violence, some angst, and very hot and steamy mm and sometimes multiple partner sex scenes. It is filled with twists and turns. It is a fantastic read and I couldn't put the book down. It hits all the right spots. There were a few parts that I just laughed out loud and enjoyed. If you’re looking for a book that’s erotic, hot, and even sentimental at points, this could be it. I can't wait for the next book

Death is confronted in many forms, in this installment. Past deaths bring consequences, natural death saddens, "savage" execution occurs.
Yet there is very strong hope, also. Hope for the future, hope for relationships, hope for common ground between humans and Cubi.
Very hot scenes are never lacking, some "only" for Cubi feeding, some sweet and full of love.
The continued development of this complex world never ceases to amaze!

I can’t say enough of Meraki’s creative mind, each time you get a storyline that is strong, amazing characters, raw emotion, courageous, edgy and sensual, intimate, scorching scenes. So powerful.

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book for my honest opinions of which I’m under no obligation to do so. I absolutely recommend this series, which need to be read in order.

Daniel has really grown through-out this series and has become a King worth ruling. I love how he asks for help and advice when he needs it and how he has support among his lovers and friends.

I really enjoyed this story as it had me captivated from the beginning to the end. The complex world building and great characters continues to keep me wanting more.

Daniel is growing and coming into his own as he embraces who he is and needs to be for his people.
We also get more of Elakdon's back story with a glimpse of his past.
There is of course plenty of steamy action and political issues to be dealt with.

This series contains 9 books revolving around Daniel and Sheldon a 400+ year old Succubi. Personally it was a little difficult getting into this series. The Incubi and Succubi are the hierarchy and are brought humans as slaves to feed from. Daniel is supposed to be protected by Sheldon but as a young adult he is a curious person and want to learn more. Daniel is considered an Untouchable and is to be train to be a companion for the Cubis. Daniel becomes a Changeling by being dosed accidentally. Each book following tells of the changes and things Daniel goes through and sexual exploits. There are a few times you have to think back to get the sequence of events and figure out who is who but overall it keeps you enthralled to the end.
