Packing Heat

Rate this book
I’ve never been so humiliated in my life.

My twin brother is the definition of a lost soul. And it bothers me, sure… but I didn’t even know he was out of jail until a steamy older bounty hunter showed up at my workplace, looking for him.

And tackled me to the ground in his place.

Now I’m out of a job and gunning for my brother, and there’s only one person I know who can help me find him - the bounty hunter who got me in this situation to start with.

They say that the enemy of your enemy is your friend, but I’m not sure that teaming up with Neo feels all that friendly. He’s my opposite in every way - I’m younger, he’s older; I’m loud, and he’s the strong, silent type. I’m omega… and he’s all alpha.

The more I get to know Neo, the less I want to be his enemy. But we’re only together for one purpose: to catch my brother.

Right?

When Neo makes the mistake of going after the wrong twin, Tucker -- he doesn’t expect the whirlwind that comes with it. What starts out as mistaken identity quickly forms into a partnership which then turns into the beginning of a romance between the two. I really enjoyed book one but so I was excited for this one and I wasn’t disappointed. I have to say I was surprised by how much more there was to this plot however. I was constantly on the edge of my seat or with a dorky smile on my face. There was more punch to this book and made it a satisfying read for me.

If you’re looking for something with the perfect amount of drama, steam, bonding and romance that will leave you panting for more...dive right into this knitting club series.

I am really digging this series. From the outside Neo looked like a big tough alpha, but he was such a soft, awkward, knit-obsessed cinnamon roll. And Tucker was so snarky and independent and absolutely amazing. I loved their enemies to lovers story with the best meet-not so cute. I do wish we got a little more of their life after bonding, but hopefully we get to see it as the series progresses!

I love the idea of a big tough alpha knitting, because it seems so opposite to what they would do, but it works so well.

Neo thinks he's found his skip when he finds Tucker, but oops, Tucker is the good twin, not the evil one.

I thought that these two worked pretty well, even if it took them a minute to figure everything out and make everything right.

Fast, sweet, uncomplicated read.
If You like omegaverse, non-shifters stories with mpreg this is a nice option for You.

It is fast paced, full of hot sex scenes, but they are mostly connected with Tucker's "heat" so they are definitely not for everyone. I have to admit that I prefer shifters stories, where alpha/beta/omega is not only about who can get pregnant. I wish there was more "plot" apart from Tucker and Neo's fake relationship, eating, making out and meeting with friends.

WOW THESE TWO ARE COMPLICATED
Neo is an Alpha bounty hunter and he is on the hunt for a "skip" called Martin Spears. But this wont be easy and he is a slippery Alpha who thinks beating up his omega is alright. Neo hates people like Martin. So he cant believe his luck when he is in the line to grab a coffee and sees Martin behind the counter serving customers. He checks his account and yep its him alright he's lost some weight but its defiantly him.
Tucker is so happy to have a job, its serving coffee but its still a job. He is in college so this is just to help him get by. When he sees a man staring at him in the line it takes him aback until he says " are you Mr Spears?" instantly Tucker knows this isn't good and try's to make a run for it but this man is fast. Neo always got his man but once he was holding him he knew straight away he had the wrong man. this was an omega And the man he was after was an Alpha.
Neo couldnt believe he had man handled a Omega. And this was how Tucker and Neo met. But what would happen when they choose to work together for the greater good, to help try and save his twin and for Neo to get his skip??
OMG THESE TWO ARE SO ADORABLE. THEY HAVE SO MUCH TO WORK THROUGH BUT IT SEEMS THAT THEY HAVE SOMETHIG SPECIAL. I COULD READ ABOUT THESE TWO UNTIL THEIR LAST BREATHES. THE WHOLE STORYLINE HAD ME HOOKED AND I REALLY LIKED THE BANTER AND CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THEM. ITS A BRILLIANT READ!!!!!

This is a low angst alpha/omega romance. I adore the image of the big bad alpha's all in a knitting circle being led by Granny but it's a perfect example of something that can be used as a therapeutic craft.
A connection builds quickly between Tucker and Neo as they work together to find Tucker's twin brother who's skipped out on bail. The start as enemies when Neo tackles Tucker after mistaking him for his brother and then we move to a fake relationship as a plan is hatched. Neither can deny the attraction that is there right from the first moment and they begin dating soon after.
Neo is outwardly the big bad alpha, working as a bounty hunter but has a softer side shown how he cares for his friends and their grannies. His insecurities come to the front when there is a chance of a future with Tucker and make him relatable. Tucker has some inner turmoil over helping to find his brother but wanting to help him at the same time. The couple are cute together and it feels like quite a natural progression of their romance and how it heats up as they get closer.
Again, the cast of characters are super supportive, really good friends who at the same time are not afraid to have a laugh at each other. I'm looking forward to reading the HEA's for the other alphas in the Knitting Club.
Another great read from Austin Bates. Enjoyable story and relationship that grows throughout the book, a recommended read.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

A reversal of roles it seems to me.

Neo might be the bounty hunter alpha but Tucker comes across as the dominant omega of this pair. He has backbone & isn't afraid to confront Neo on so many issues that he has to deal with. Tucker has a no-good twin in Martin Spears; a bail jumper with a gross criminal history. What Neo doesn't know until it's too late is that the guy he's got shoved up against The Dream Bean's wall is the wrong guy. But he only realizes this when Tucker's scent engulfs Neo. Now Tucker is pretty much a mild mannered guy but because of this public humiliation he looses his much needed job and only means of money for the summer before he goes back to earning his sought after professorship. Tucker knows his brother is a dirt bag but he has to overcome familial ties to bring Martin to justice. He has to overcome his mother's love for her errant son and join Neo in trapping Martin. And where does the Knitting Club come in? Well, Neo needs their support in dealing with his feelings toward Tucker and characters from the previous book make appearances and contributions to this dual situation. A fun and humorous read; one that I got an ARC of for my voluntary my voluntary review. What's next in this series? Well, it's time for Jones and Charlie to reveal their story; can't wait.

This is the story of Tucker, while he is working at this job as a barista, gets pinned to the wall and almost handcuffed before the bounty hunter, Neo realizes he has the wrong person. Tucker is pissed and confused. He loves his brother, wants him to get better and facing justice may be the best thing for him. He is also very surprised at how he can't seem to stop thinking of the bounty hunter. Neo can't believe his luck. He's been looking for this skip for so long. However, something's not right, his looks have changed and when he gets close and personal, he realizes that this guy is an omega. He is so sorry and keeps trying to figure out the best way to apologize and make it up to him. He is very surprised when Tucker comes to him and even more speechless when he realizes he can't seem to get him out of his mind. The characters are complex, strong, determined with great histories and backstories. The storyline is interesting, intriguing, suspenseful and passionate. You can't help to fall in love with the characters and cheer for their happy ending. This story also finished with a bait that just leaves you looking forward to the next installment. Great read!!!

Whats not to like about this book, well absolutely nothing. It was an absolute pleasure to read And the one lovely surprise that i really loved is that Neo had a kink and im not telling you anything about what that is, you will have to read to discover what it is..... loved it. And i really loved Neo for Tucker, despite Tuckers thoughts about not going out with Neo he still did... mutual attraction, chemistry

Neo was after Martin Spears an Alpha that had beat his omega up, not finding any new leads he went into a coffee shop to get a coffee and who should he come across but Martin himself. But alas it wasnt Martin it was Tucker. And once Tucker knew he had the wrong person....he was angry to say the least.. And then to top off Tuckers day... he got fired.
Thinking about things Tucker decides to help Neo finding his brother, however once his brother was found they both had a date, a normal one. Tucker feels he shouldnt be going down this road with Neo, but he cant help himself Neo is really hot and why the heck not see what happens...

Totally enjoyable , this Authors books are so good to read, im hooked and a fan....

Tucker is spending his summer working at a coffee shop until school starts up again. He’s minding his own business until he finds himself pinned to a wall my an older alpha who mistakes him for his twin brother. He finds himself humiliated and out of a job after that fiasco.

Neo thinks he’s finally found his skip but when he finally catches up to him he realizes it’s no alpha he’s caught but the skip’s omega twin brother. He quickly realizes his mistake and can’t say sorry enough. However Tucker is less than forgiving and tells Neo where he can shove his apology.

Neo needs to catch this guys and fast and he finds an unlikely ally in Tucker. Tucker’s last hope in redeeming his brother is to help Neo catch him. That’s the only reason why he’s spending time with Neo. It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Neo is absolutely gorgeous. Nope. Not at all.

I’m enjoying this series very much. The banter between characters is just well done. I love how they can keep up with each other. It just makes the book flow and absolutely enjoyable.

Always ask for full names! Neo, is a bounty hunter looking for Martin, Tucker's twin, who skipped his court date. Martin had allegedly beaten up his Omega. Tucker didn't know Martin was even out of jail. Neo stopped into The Dream Bean for coffee and found who he thought was Martin, working as a barista. Neo, physically restrained Tucker, who was not cooperating. They tangoed from the back to the front, with Neo in the lead and Tucker reluctantly following, out of step. Neo noticed the physical difference from his pictures, but they didn't compute. He just knew he easily found Martin. During the course of apprehending him, he scented Omega, not Alpha. Hmmm. Now Neo has to work through the mistaken identity. Tucker gets fired. They spend story accidentally strolling through a reluctant relatioship. Tucker ends up helping Neo. Do they click as partners? Will Neo get to meet the family? Will Neo catch Martin? Nice story. Tucker is sassy, the kind of Omega Neo likes. Neo is a soft hand in a warm strong glove. Good story flow, could use a little stronger yarn. Well done! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved the first book in this series because the author did such a good job with characterization and this one is no different. I think the plot here is much stronger than in the first book as well, with its play on mistaken identities, the age difference trope, the enemies to lovers trope and in essence the forced proximity trope. Tucker and Neo, the young omega and older alpha are forced together by their desire to find Tucker's twin brother. Neo is a bounty hunter whose job is to bring him back after he skips his court date and Tucker wants to find him both to try to save him (a lifelong, unsuccessful effort) and punch him for costing him his job when Neo mistakes him for his twin and tries to arrest him at his job. These two are so adorable together as they snipe and snark through the mutual attraction they try unsuccessfully to resist. Just like the first book, this is a series where the alphas are strong but really gentle marshmallows inside and the omegas are independent but still long for home and family. I will always be ready to read any book in this series for a mood lifting HEA romance.

Mistaken identity leaves Tucker Spears pinned against a wall...literally; by hot, older alpha Neo White. It also leaves him jobless, and his mother may hate him for helping Neo find his brother. That's Neo's job, bounty hunter- with a little bit of knitting on the side - and Neo is pretty good at his job until he mistakes Omega Tucker for his twin brother Alpha Martin. Now, they agreed to work together, Neo in hopes of reaching justice and Tucker, in hopes of rescuing his twin from his life of crime. Along the way sparks fly, lines are crossed and both men may have to put their hearts on the line if they want their own happily ever after.

This is an action-packed, romance with lots of secondary characters popping through the novel that gives it a dash of humor that leaves the reader grinning. This is the first book I read in Austin Bates' Knitting Club series and I enjoyed it so much I plan on reading the first book and cannot wait to read the upcoming book featuring Charlie's story.

I was totally captivated by this entertaining MM romance that has an “enemies to lovers” undertone & found the well-paced plot quite humorous & intriguing with some unexpected confrontations. There is good scene descriptions & world building. The characters have well-developed individual personalities & at times are quite confrontational but continue to develop throughout the story-line to become a well-adjusted couple. There is good support from the secondary characters.
There is: a surly bounty hunter (Neo White) makes a honest mistake when he tries to apprehend the wrong twin (a sassy omega, Tucker Spears) instead of his criminal twin (a alpha, Martin Spears), Martin’s abused omega (Cassius aka Cass), humor, action, adventure, some danger, threats, intrigue, drama, mild twists, mistaken identity, confrontations, misunderstandings, memories, negotiations, plans, attractions, insecurities, heat issues, bonding, some steam, surprises, contentment, happiness & a wonderful conclusion for this couple with a interesting ending.

Packing Heat is the second book in the Knitting Club series by author Austin Bates. This book was okay. Not my favorite. But it is good. This book is written in dual POV. That POV works well for this story. This is the second book in a series but can be read as a standalone novel.
Tucker: he loves the smell of coffee in the morning. He is working on his master's in social policy. He is an Omega. His twin Martin is an Alpha and always in trouble with the law. This plays heavily into this storyline.
Neo: he is after Martin. That is how he meets Tucker. I should say shoves him up against a wall and costs him his job. He is a bounty hunter. He has a heart of gold though. He makes up for all he does.
The chemistry between Neo and Tucker is okay. Tucker has a lot to go through before he is ready for Neo. Neo needed more development for me. He is partly there character-wise but he needed more.
I am looking forward to more Knitting Club books in the future. I will be keeping my eye on this series.

This is the second book I read in this series based around these alphas that started a knitting club whose headed up by Granny Harper(Blaze's grandmother from first book). I believe this knitting club is kind of like therapy for the guys. I absolutely love this series so far. This one is about Neo the older bounty hunter alpha that meets his match with Tucker the young smart and sassy omega. Their first meeting was downright awful because Neo mistaken Tucker for his jailbird twin brother. Neo the sweet alpha that he is (who doesn't think he is worthy for a mate), tried his best to get Tucker to forgive him. Tucker can't resist the older sexy alpha and they team up together to catch his brother. Mayhem, action, romance and steamy times ensues. They guys have a lovely HEA and the ending sets up for the next book in the series...can't wait!

Tucker Spears, an Omega, is working at his new job in a coffee shop. An older Alpha bounty hunter, Neo White, mistakes him for his twin brother, Martin, who is “bad news” and wanted back in jail. After an embarrassing struggle up against the wall as Neo tries to take the innocent Tucker into custody, the whole thing ends up costing Tucker his new job. So, they team up to go after Martin and make things right.

Despite the odd way they met, and their very different personalities, a definite attraction exists. But eventually, they find a connection that strengthens as they get to know each other better. Will they decide to pursue the relationship? Or will they walk away when their mutual task has ended?

This was a good story with great characters the reader can immediately like. Neo is quiet and Tucker is loud, but it’s what they feel inside that sets the tone. Is there a HEA here? Did Fate finally bring Neo to the brother he needed to really find?

Neo was a bounty hunter and was trying to find Martin Spears so when he went into the Dream Bean to get some coffee, he thought that Matin had taken a job there. So without asking if the person that he was trying to arrest was him or not, he was trying to handcuff him and destroyed the area behind the counter. But when he got really close to him and smelled that the person that he had in front of him was an omega not an alpha like Martin was. Tucker lost his job because of what Neo did to him his boss wasn’t going to take the chance of it happening again. They had a few problems, finally Tucker said he would help him capture Martin. So they went to his granny’s birthday dinner and Martin showed up Neo was able to capture him. Then Neo didn’t call Tucker for awhile but then he asked Tucker for a date. Things were finally working out for them for the better, great. Can’t wait for the next book Austin is one of my favorite authors.

This book had me laughing until 80%, then I lost interest.

I loved Neo, his way of thinking was totally clueless sometimes and the author did an excellent job with it, I enjoyed reading his internal dialogues sooo much I'm still laughing.

At the end, I don't know why it just got hard for me to read, story wise it shouldn't but even in the writing style, the author showed snippets of their lives because there was no other trope on it, it picked up a little but yeah, I wasn't that much invested.

What I didn't really liked was how the situation with Martin developed, I mean if I am a mother and some stranger puts my son in jail I will need time to process it, but in here everyone accepts what Neo did and don't even mention it anymore. So I think that could have been handled better.

But I still love this story, it made me laugh, it was cute as hell and the plot when it was there, IT WAS THERE.

**Audio Review**

This story came a long way from the awkward coffee-shop meet-cute-turned-takedown at the beginning. I'm always a little nervous when I start a new alpha/omega book because they sometimes have a tendency to be too insta-love for me. To my delight, this story had a much slower, realistic pace. Neo and Tucker weren't immediately likable guys, but they did grow on me throughout the book. What started out as a funny, fake-boyfriend style story turned into a much deeper, satisfying romance with unexpected danger at the end. I really enjoyed the way this book evolved into something much bigger than I was expecting. This narrator is not the most expressive one I've listened to, but I thought he did a great job with the story and had me even more invested in this couple's happily ever after. I haven't read any of the other books in this series, and I'm looking forward to diving into the rest!

**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Let me start with the narrator, Christopher Kauzlarich. Looking at other reviews, you either love him or hate him. I LOVED Christopher Kauzlarich’s narration. His voice is exactly how I imagined Tucker would sound. Soft, considerate, and easy to listen to.
On to the story!
Tucker’s twin brother can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Neo, a bounty hunter, makes an easy mistake, thinking Tucker was who he was trying to find. This gets their romance started. Tucker, even as angry as he is with Neo, he can’t seem to stop thinking about Neo. Even though the man cost him his job.
One thing you should know, Tucker is an omega and Neo is an alpha. They dance around each other in the beginning, but they compliment each other well. Tucker doesn’t bend to Neo’s will. He challenges the older man. Their chemistry intensified as the story progressed and they had some steamy romance scenes.
Overall, this was a quick and fun read.

Tucker has spent the last few years trying to find a way to help his twin brother find his way. When his brother's run from the law lands Tucker with a bounty hunter trying to take him down at work he thinks things have hit bottom. Neo is just doing his job, bringing people in who have skipped out on their court dates and bail when he sees a man who matches the name and picture he is hunting. As soon as he realizes his mistake he tries to apologize but the damage is done. Tucker cools off enough to try to talk to Neo, offering him a deal and from there things get sketchy. This is the second of the knitting club series and a gentler bunch of alphas you will meet are the basis of stories with humor, romance, action, emotional roller-coaster rides, and the eventual HEA. Excellent Read

First I am a huge fan of Austen Bates!

This is a great read.

Mistaken Identity - Tucker is an Omega with an Alpha twin that can’t stay out of trouble. Tucker is quick, honest and adorable. He’s working at a coffee house for the summer until school opens up again in the fall. He finds himself pinned up against the wall by an Alpha who has mistaken him for his brother.

Neo thinks he’s finally found his man. However, he immediately recognizes that the man under him is no Alpha. He knows he’s made a mistake and apologizes. However, it has cost Ticker his job.

Tucker decides too help Neo locate his brother. Along the way they have a few bumps, grinds and bruises. Neo has a definite kink and Tucker pushes all the right buttons.

You will enjoy this book. So far this series is definitely on point.

Ahhhh, ahhhhh! No, no, no. First, I want read LGBTs book without reading the sypnosis because otherwise never i’ll read another book. The story seem to be the same over and over. This one isn’t exception.

The caracters are common, ordinary and a little delicared trying between them. the chemical works something but almost all time the situations are boring and inusual. Its a time lost you're try and try keeping read and don’t found neither sense.

The story was lost cos the main reason by she is, was to found to Martin, and Martin was arrest without neither problem. And then, our main, he doesn’t cared that the facts was those. I was so angry with each situations, moments and scenes that I flied a lot of page.

Finally, I don’t could finish. Should be more dinamic, and cruel and maybe a little more problematic and a begin easier and interesting. This was totally a mistake.

This book is as amazing as the first in the series. It's intense and action packed. Tucker, omega, and Neo, alpha and a bounty hunter, didn't have the conventional meet cute but more the mistaken identity 'I'm going to take you down' meet. Yet somehow in their attempts to capture Tucker's twin brother, by pretending to be in a relationship together, they ended up wanting to be in a relationship together.
I can't wait for the next book as we continue to learn more about these wonderful characters. I would love to see more about Cass. He definitely needs a happy ending.
I highly recommend this book and series.

Tucker is pushed up against the wall by a bounty hunter looking for his twin brother.
While working his shift at the Dream Bean Tucker is grabbed and pushed up against the wall by a bounty hunter who mistakes him for his alpha twin brother Martin. when Neo realizes that he is holding an omega he quickly steps back but the angry omega is in no mood to listen to his apologies he leaves. Shocked and angry Tucker may have been but he was aware of an attraction to the handsome Alpha but then his boss fires him and the anger takes over. Neo is unable to forget the omega's scent and when he encounters him again tries to apologize again.

I really enjoyed this book by this new to me author! Tucker and Neo met in the most unique way. Tucker is attacked by Neo who is a bounty hunter, mistaking him for Tucker's twin brother. Neo is super embarrassed and wants to make the wrong right. Tucker is super annoyed with Neo but reluctantly agrees to help him out. The more time they spend together the more that they start to like each other and feelings develop between the two. The last thing either one of them expected was to find their mate. This story is full of action, twists and turns, steamy good times, light hearted moments...I really enjoyed myself reading their story. Its a great story and one that I would recommend, well done!!!

Contains: bount hunter, twins problem, alpha knitting, age gap, knotting, bonding, heat, mpreg.

Once again, the author conveys all the emotions of her characters. The indecision, the despair and all the will to do his best to help his delinquent brother will bring Tucker to face the world of violence, but also meet the love of his life.
Follow the slow-burning events with Neo, introverted alpha, bount hunter, whose mission is to arresting Martin and not tackling the charming omega barista.
I was hesitating between 4 and 5 stars. I decided to remove one star because I think it's very long, and still, it lacks a little ending..... What happens to Cass? And Martin, will he want to change and accept the help suggested or not?
