An honorable Gargoyle, willing to wait. A lonely teen, ready to run. An adventure gone awry in the South Florida sunshine.
Slade Ransom has waited two hundred forty-seven years for his mate. When he is tasked with watching over one of his Clanmate’s sons, Slade recognizes the attraction he feels for what it is - the mate pull. Slade enjoys Being around the teen, but the more time he spends with Matthew, the harder it is to not claim the young man. Even though Matt has turned eighteen, Slade does what he thinks is best and puts space between them.
Matthew Hartley’s life is finally looking up. He has a family who loves him, a scholarship to play basketball for The University of Georgia, and a smoking hot Gargoyle bodyguard who has become his best friend. When Slade starts ghosting Matt, the teen doesn’t understand what happened.
When Slade realizes he was wrong in staying away from Matt, he takes steps to get them back on track. While the two are on vacation in South Florida, things don’t go as planned, and Slade fears he has lost his young mate before ever getting the chance to claim him.
Faith Gibson's love of books started early on. So much so that she decided to write her own stories. When a college professor told her she had a gift, she took him at his word and put pen to paper (because back then, there were no computers. Shh, we don't mention her age.)
Her love of all things paranormal mixed with crazy dreams led to her first series, The Stone Society, about Gargoyle shifters in search of their mates while protecting humanity from unhinged beasts known as The Unholy. The Hounds of Zeus MC series was born from one of their own being a mate of a Gargoyle. The Rebel Moon Shifters are the next generation, all the kids from the first two series.
Faith also abbles in MM worlds and contemporary suspense, but her first and forever love is fantasy.
When Faith isn’t hard at work on her next story, she can be found reading, cooking, playing in the dirt (planting stuff) or playing with her staffy pup, all while listening to hard rock music.
Slade is conflicted about sharing with 18 year old Matthew that he is his Gargoyle mate. At roughly twice the age of Matthew, appearance wise, he's worried how society will treat them with such an obvious age difference. He also feels Matty should finish college before they mate, but when unexpected forces make a surprise visit will it sway their minds?
I really enjoyed this story. I love both Slade and Matty. I've only read 'Jasper' so far in this series so I was clearly missing background information that has continued through the series. I could still follow along without issues. It just made me wish I'd read the entire series in order. Faith Gibson is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.
Great addition to the series. I loved it, but it is a m/m story so don't read it if you don't enjoy those kind of books. Slade knows that Matthew is his mate. He has even got the okay from Frey to pursue Matt and bond with him. The problem is that Slade wants to wait to give Matthew more time to experience life. Matthew thinks that Slade is either mad at him or doesn't want to be his friend anymore. Slade decides to take Matthew on a last minute vacation. Things don't go as planned. There are several miscommunications. Drago and his men play a part in this story. No mating has been easy so far and this one is no exception.
Slade: A Stone Society Novella ( Stone Society # 12.5) by Faith Gibson is the story of Slade and Matthew. As the gargoyles are finding their mates among humans, Slade has found his. Once just a bodyguard to Matthew he now discovers he is his mate. The age difference is noticeable and they look more like father and son. Slade is not only concerned about the difference in age but the fact Mathew is getting ready to go off to college. His experiences in life are few and Slade wants him to not miss out. This concern has Slade and his beast frustrated while Matthew thinks his attraction to Slade is one sided. When Slade decides to take Matthew on a trip to discuss their relationship miscommunication, wrong read signals and an abduction get in the way. I love this series and look forward to any book regarding this story, initially I wasn't over the moon to read about Slade and Matthew. Once again the master of story telling and character development pulled me in and had me chopping at the bit as I was reading their story. A plus is the fact I can always get my fix of the other characters in this series which always puts a smile on my face. I can't get enough of the Stone Society and look forward to where this author takes me next. You can read this without reading the other books but you will be missing out on some good stuff. 5 stars for me
I received an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I have been a fan of this series since I first read Rafael’s book in late 2016. Faith Gibson creates another captivating read and you won’t be able to tear your eyes from the pages. This story is about Matthew and Slade in the Stone Society series. I am calling it the “DOUBLE BONUS” novella. Bonus one: It’s not really the length of a novella, we get more! Bonus two: hot M/M action with a slow burn.
Faith was sneaky with this book. Promoted as a novella, I was expecting a lighthearted romantic adventure with some bridging between the Stone Society and the Hounds of Zeus series. She lured me into a false hope that Slade and Matthew would simply enjoy a fabulous billionaire vacation in sunny Florida with side eyes and ageism as their only deterrents.
Wrong, wrong, WRONG. I should have known. Instead she delightfully taunts and teases us for over 100 pages. And the burning. I kept thinking this is it. We are going left. Only to swerve right and fly over a bridge into boiling water. Readers prepare yourselves for the angst, the peril, and the sweet humor delivered in this sizzling tale. 5 stars.
You know a book is well written when you experience all the feels and Slade is just such a book! From page one to the end my emotions ran the gamut from heightened libido to tears of both joy and sorrow. Slade's got it all!
As in the rest of the Stone Society series, the goyles finding their mate and completing the mate bond is the central theme. Author Faith Gibson has found new ways to make the journey from friends to fated mates exciting. In fact, early on in Slade and Matt's story, I found myself hooked, unable to put the book down. As Matt's feelings for the sexy goyle came to light, so did my own. I've often said Frey, Matt's dad, was my favorite member of the clan, but Slade is a very close runner up. He's a strong, formidable male with a soft side, a heart of gold. Faith penned the perfect mate to be fated for the young human.
The story throughout would have been enough for me to give it 5 stars. I mean who doesn't love a good romance with a bit of intrigue? Adding in the epilogue and the insights into the future of the clan, the author spiked my love of the book over the edge.
Slade is #12.5 in the Stone Society Series. What can I say but I love these Gargoyles! This is Colden “Slade” Ramsom and Matthew Hartley’s story.
Matthew is Frey’s adopted kid & also his BIL. Frey is married to Matt’s sister, Abbi. Frey asked Slade to be Matthew’s protector. But being around Matthew all the time and knowing Matthew is his mate is driving Slade crazy to the point that Slade is now ghosting Matt. Slade has Frey’s permission to for him to date Matt.
Slade is so concerned because there is a huge age difference. Slade doesn’t want to take anything away from Matt because he thinks that Matt needs time to experience life and yet the mate in him is calling for Matt.
I hate to say of course I loved this book but I do love this book. I am not sure that Faith Gibson has written anything that I haven’t liked. I have loved all these Gargoyles! And, next up will be from Double the Mayhem the 2nd book in the Hounds of Zeus MC. I can’t wait to read it!
First, this is a male to male romance. If you're still with me, Slade has found himself Fated to be with Michael, who at the time they meet is still a minor. So, Slade bangs his head on the wall, tells the boys adoptive parents, Frey and Abbie, and keeps his hands off. Becomes friends, because he can't make himself stay away. Fast forward to 'going to college' Michael, and they take a trip to the Keys before college starts. Slade tells him the truth and Michael is thrilled. But, he gets kidnapped trying to save a woman being taken. And, yep it's gargoyles. The hunt is on to find him. Don't want to blow the whole story, but is definitely worth the read.
Everyone of these clan members deserves a HEA, but Matty’s life hit me the hardest. OMG I was a mess reading Frey’s book. Thank you for putting my heart at ease and allowing us to catch up on the lives of the of the rest of the clan.
Slade is a perfect specimen- drool worthy, patient and caring. And let’s not forget rich!
This is the story of Matthew and Slade. In previous books we know that Matthew is Slade's mate but Slade was waiting till Matthew is of age to tell him. Now that Matthew is 18 and with the blessing of Frey (Matthew's adoptive father) Slade has decided to tell Matthew the truth. As with all the Goyles mates things go wrong from misunderstandings to well you will have to read it to find out. I will tell you this book is not lacking in the steamy scenes.
I normally don't read MM. It's just not my cuppa. For some reason if they are within a series that have MF couples and I'm invested in the characters I will read them. Slade is just so alpha. I love it. Matthew is adorably cute. They absolutely do make a good couple. The fates chose wisely. I recommend this whole series. I read an advanced copy of this book.
I always this author and especially when she writes MM! Slade and Matthew have a difficult road ahead of them. Slade is a 200+year old Gargoyle and Matthew is Frey’s “son” and he has to wait to claim Matthew until he is of age. Matthew loves spending time with Slade and when he ghosts him Matthew is hurt. They are fighting their feelings for each other but they can’t fight fate. I can’t wait for more from the Stone Society!!
Slade was awesome as usual!! The only thing I don't quite understand is what happened 2 the women? Did they save them in x or late?? Matt is a hero 4 what he did in spite what could happen 2 him. They both broke their words but in both ways it was almost like a blessing in disguise. It is awesome that they proved 2 each other that they will keep close 2gether 4 school and with their future.
Slade struggles with his need to claim his mate, feeling Matthew is too young and needs to experience life first. Matthew loves Slade and is hurt that Slade is keeping his distance.A holiday and a kidnapping will either bring them together or tear them apart. Just like the rest of the stone society this book is a compelling read
This is Slade and Matthew story of love. I love that the story was perfect for an 18 year old young man who is wiser beyond his years but still have same fears that young man his age have. It was well written with an equal amount of action, steamy scene and show open communication between a couple in love. Can't wait for the next book!
I will admit that the age thing had me struggling here and there. But. Then I would remember all he and Abbi loved through. Matt is no kid. He is a mature adult. I appreciate the care that Slade approached their mating with. I loved that Space always took care to include and encourage Matt's choices and opinions. Very sweet.
I love the Stone Society. I was excited for this book in the series. All the characters are hot! But they are caring, loving and everything in between. The action is mind blowing and I love the all the books.
I could have gone without this book honestly. If you had just mentioned Matty and his mate finding each other in some body else's story I would've been fine
Matthew and Slade are amazing. Slade has known for awhile Matthew was his mate. He waited for him to be of age first. Before he goes to college they take a trip to Florida. What is a story of gargoyles without trouble and turmoil. Loved this the first time I read it and love it even more the 2nd time.
