Chencia C. Higgins is just a girl from Texas who has made it her mission to create stories in which sassy, southern Black women are loved out loud. Her Carina Adores debut, D’Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding, was a New York Times best romance of 2022. When she isn't hunkered down in her writing cave, Chencia can be found with her nose in a book, saving recipes on Pinterest for things she’ll never make, and dreaming about travelling even further south for the winter.
Poor Shreema. She's blind as a bat and clumsy as all get out. Add to that, she's having one of those days times 10. While she's sanding in line waiting on her drink order, someone violently bumps into her causing her to break her glasses. That someone was Major. Major is a swoon worthy gentleman. He offers to meet Shreema at her Optometrist's office to pay for a new pair of glasses. And this, ladies, is the start of a sweet romance. Glasses is peek into how Major and Shreema meet and the build up to their relationship. Given how it ended, there has to be another book at some point. I can't wait for the next installment on Major and Shreema's love journey.
Listen I understand the struggle okay, because I'm just about like Velma from Scooby Doo myself lol. Cute start to the story. Definitely leaves you wanting more so I'll need to pick up the next novella to see what happens.
First of all, the title sold me on the book. As a fellow member of the "blind without my glasses club", I could appreciate seeing the cover and title. Shreema and Major's brief, but unforgettable, encounter at the coffee shop set this story up nicely. That trip to the optometrist, the prices and the assistant who helped Shreema were hilarious. I can't wait to read more
What's written is great, it's what's missing that disappointed me. It says it's a short but this was more like a "little more than a blurb featured on the author's Facebook page". This is the beginning to a story, when the review page popped up I went back to make sure this was actually the whole thing and not just the sample.
This is the beginning of something definitely good but I need the rest.
Talk about a Murphy's Law day!!! Shreema was having one times 10! As bad as I felt about Shreema's glasses, I had such a good laugh at that coffee shop scene! It was like watching comedy hijinks! LOL! Very well written scene. I loved Major's compassion towards Shreema. And there were definitely sparks between the two! 😊 This was a delightful short story!
As one who has dealt with wearing glasses since the second grade, I could identify with Shreema's struggle of needing glasses to simply function as a normal person on any given day. An innocent mishap turned into the cutest introduction to a guy named Major.
I would love to hear more from this couple and find out more about their date.
This story was most definitely a short story! Shareema was just having a rough morning and top it all of she accidentally broke her glasses! Major and Shareema's first encounter was super abrupt but worth it. I loved seeing cameos of the Black family members and I wanted so much more! Well it it what it is...I still loved it!

I really want to read about these two. I want an entire book lol they were super cute and just didn’t understand exactly what was going on. The fact they both stepped out on faith made me so happy. Hopefully we’ll get the full story at some point but if not it’s just as good!!
Because I wear glasses, this story was hilarious to me. I know-how I feel about my glasses, I found myself laughing. I want to know more about Shreema and Major. I just wish this story was a lil longer. It was so well written and I truly enjoyed it.
Major was a stand up guy, to take charge the way he did. Poor Shreema really has bad vision, I felt bad for her. This looks like the beginning of a beautiful love story. Can't wait for the next installment! 👍👍
