GraysonIt all started with a bet between my best friend and me. He won, I lost, and it was time to pay up. He promised me nothing would ever come of it. But something did.I was a wealthy and successful businessman who was anti-relationship in every way. My grandfather didn’t like how I lived my life and gave me an ultimatum. He gave me one year to meet someone and fall in love, or else the company that was rightfully mine would go to someone else.Harper Holland was beautiful and sexy. She was the perfect woman to ensure my grandfather signed his company over to me. After all, she was pregnant with my child. Only she didn’t know I was the father. Once I got my company, I would end our “so-called” relationship. The problem was that I fell deeply in love with her. How was I supposed to tell her what I’d done? I didn’t have to. She found out the truth on her own, and my entire life was destroyed in an instant.HarperThe only thing I ever wanted in life was a family of my own. I daydreamed about marrying the perfect man and starting a family more than I lived in reality. At the age of thirty and after many failed relationships, I discovered that maybe marriage and the perfect husband weren’t in the cards for me. My biological clock was ticking, so I decided to start a family on my own as a single woman living in New York City. The only thing that mattered in my life was raising a child. After finding the perfect sperm donor from the New York Cryobank, I put my plan into motion. Then, by some act of fate, I met a brutally handsome man. A man who didn’t care that I was already pregnant. A man who made me swoon and swept me off my feet. I trusted him and fell in love until I discovered the truth about him and his motives.18+

He was a cheat. He asked the heroine to be his girlfriend, mind you he was using the heroine to get the company from his grandfather but the heroine didn’t know this. She thought he really wanted to be with her. So to him I guess because he was using her he didn’t owed her any loyalty so he did what this author’s heroes always do. Almost had sex with another woman. He kissed this woman and when she was about to take his pants down all of the sudden he grew a conscience, so nice of him.
Heroine was telling him that she loved him and he would always say “me too” she was hurt that he wouldn’t say those 3 pesky little words. Also why the heck did he needed to go to the doctors appointments and shit? She didn’t know he was the baby’s father but he knew and he did NOT want anything to do with that baby. So he shouldn’t have to know what’s going with the baby. It was like she was trying to shove the baby in his life.

After a month she drives to see his ass and just forgives and forgets everything that he did to her. What a pathetic little woman she is. They really do deserve each other.

2 ⭐⭐ - Meh!
=============
I totally hate this guy. What a miserable piece of shit. Aff!

Convincing my grandfather that I was interested in Harper was easy. But then again, I was always good at convincing him of things. Once I had Harper Holland in the palm of my hand, things would be a lot easier. I wouldn’t have to try so hard or feel the need to see her all the time.

“She’s a nice girl and I enjoy spending time with her. But if you’re asking if I’m getting emotionally involved, the answer is no. I’m physically attracted to her which is a bonus because it makes my plan a lot easier.

I’d sealed the deal tonight and had Harper right where I wanted her.

“So you’re using her?” “In a sense, yes.

I don’t know, Harper, something is bothering me about this whole situation. Grayson Rhodes is a millionaire, and he’s number one on the New York’s most eligible bachelor’s list. Guys like him just don’t settle down. Especially with a woman who’s pregnant.”

“And you’re not developing any feelings for her at all?” “No. How could you even ask that? You know me, Julius, and you know where I stand with women and relationships. Harper already called me today all upset because she had a fight with one of her best friends and she wanted to talk.” I sighed. “It’s that kind of shit I can’t stand.”

A picture. She had a picture she couldn’t wait to show me of her baby; my baby. Shit. That’s the last thing I wanted to see.

I hated that word “girlfriend.” It was enough to make my skin crawl. But I had no choice. It had to be done. There were too many expectations from women who had the title. They wanted gifts, cute little love notes or text messages all the damn time.

Now that Harper thinks we’re in a committed relationship, I can stop trying so hard.

“She can’t button her jeans anymore. I had to take her home yesterday before we went to the museum so she could get another pair of pants. Soon she’ll start showing and that gorgeous little body of hers will no longer exist.”

“What if I can’t get hard the further along she gets? I’m not attracted to pregnant women. How do I explain that?”

“How did you feel when you saw the picture of YOUR baby?” “I felt nothing,” I spoke as I stared straight ahead at the game.

What the fuck? I didn’t need this shit. Julius had plans tonight with his parents, so I called a couple other friends of mine and met them at Randolph’s bar and lounge at the Warwick Hotel. As we were sitting on the barstools drinking and talking, this beautiful woman with long fiery red hair sat down next to me.

“Listen, I’m leaving New York tomorrow to fly back home. I have a room upstairs if you’d like to come up and have a nightcap.” She flirtatiously smiled. “Let’s go.”

“I said I don’t want any goddamn pancakes!” I shouted at her. “I’m going to take a shower.” I walked away as I shook my head.

“He’s transferring the company to me.” “YES!” he held up his hand for a high five. “Congrats, bro. That’s excellent news. Look at that, in three months you can get rid of Harper.”

“So what were you going to do once you got your company? Dump me?”

“So you knew all this time you’re this baby’s father, and you were just going to dump both of us like we’re nothing? Like we’re trash to you?”

“The job. The apartment. All this time I was nothing but a pawn in your sick little fucking game!”

Only now, I notice that in all the books of this author the hero is always some asshole/manwhore at the beginning. Honestly, I don't know how it didn't bother me before, but there it is. So. Much.
And his change is simply not convincing to me.

I'm finding it so hard to believe so many people loved this book. It's plot is almost not there and there is no basis in reality for much of what happens in the book.

The whole thing is a woman deciding to use a sperm bank to get pregnant. Turns out the sample she "purchases" wasn't meant to be available because was only done when he lost a bet to best friend who runs the sperm bank. (Obviously doesn't make any sense at all.) Rich guy is given ultimatum to settle down by grandpa so he can inherit company. Rich guy "forces" friend to share details on purchaser of his donation and then goes on to insert himself into her life long enough to earn the company and then dump her. Woman goes along with everything, all the money spent on her and super low rents and all that jazz. Happy to accept all he gives and no suspicions on her end despite warnings from her best friend. Rich guy gets his company and woman falls in love. Not going to dump her after all but it all falls apart when she discovers truth by accident. Fast forward a bit and they end up with a happily ever after.

Almost nothing was realistic in this story. Everything sped along at the rate of knots...I think the worst was woman being "hired" to design a building and she manages to do it within a day or two. This all based on her minor in architecture. Not sure if that is even a thing or not. I don't know much about sperm donations but I do suspect it's a bit more involved than was represented here. The dialogue is pretty poor and the character development doesn't happen. Just so much wrong with this that I can't think of it. I did finish but only to see how it badly it played out.
I can only give this 1.5 stars max and that's partly due to it being so short (after all everything goes so quickly that it wasn't necessary to flesh out characters and plot) and that the premise held a bit of promise.

Sadly this was a DNF for me. This book reads like a space shuttle going to the moon. The pace is so fast you have no character connection whatsoever. There is no flow to the plot. This happened, that happened, she said, he said. It is all disjointed and the plot is a tad ridiculous and the speed with which it is executed just makes it more so. I’m sure if the author expanded on this and fleshed it out it wouldn’t read so ridiculous.

So-so read

The premise of the book sounded great, but after I started reading, it became clear that I wouldn’t be a fan of this book.

I disliked Grayson straight from the beginning, he was sexist, rude and just not likeable, which didn’t change throughout the book. I ended up skipping 20% because it just went on and on.

Harper set out as such a great character, but quickly stopped growing and stayed as two dimensional as Grayson, not to mention her disregard for the huge invasion of privacy from Grayson and Julius (not to mention the illegality of it all).

The book certainly needs to be edited as I found quite a few mistakes by just skipping though it.

The star is for the promising, but failed plot.

I have not read this book, and will not. This author has sunk so far that her stories can be summed up in a few brief paragraphs that will fit pretty much any of her stories. Just change the names, cities, and circumstances.

Why? WHYYYYYYY?
I'll tell you why.
The Forever Black series was good, and enjoyable....though the hero was (predictably, for this author) a Class-A douchebag. A theme she has continued with in each book I have read since.

Sandi Lynn's stories go something like this:
Nice girl meets DOUCHEBAG. Douchebag proceeds to run hot and cold, not care about her feelings, generally confuse her with gifts and attention and then reverting to asshole behavior. He walks away but continues to keep eyes on her and get jealous and stupid if she talks to any other guy...or she leaves him for assholery and he chases her down and wins her back, only to have another nuclear douchebag meltdown on her, and so on and so on. Eventually, he realizes he's a douchebag, cleans up his act, wins her back and dotes on her while she just rolls over and accepts him back....perhaps after making him jump through a hoop or two to prove himself. While the circumstances vary, this is the central theme of all the Sandi Lynn books I've read.

Even if it was a brand new story/theme/trope each time, her writing has gotten very "community college online writing course" basic. The writing is rudimentary, and whoever edits her books is abysmal. Don't waste your time. I think I would prefer to sit down and read a book written entirely in Italian (which I don't speak and wouldn't understand) than read another Sandi Lynn book. I don't know how so many of you are still raving about her books and giving out 5 stars.

I've forgotten the names of the principal characters already. Only remember the h's friend, who seemed like a sane person. Her name is charlotte.
The H was ok and the bet he and his friend had was stupid and more teen boy types and the plot and mishaps seemed very contrived. Had pretty negative to neutral thoughts of the h and the relationship for most of the book and fell in love very quickly.
The h was a pretty desperate woman. She had no savings or any sort of plan structure for having a baby. She was also so desperate to fall in love with the H and was nasty to her friend to warned her against being hasty.
I also felt she didn't really face much hardship in life and was constantly (or I felt), congratulated of being one of the strongest woman who faced hardships head-on. I feel there are better books out there.

DNF @57% - rating a DNF because there’s no forgiving boring - these people are so cardboard, it makes the glimpses of his assholery the HIGHLIGHT of the book. 🥴🫠 Only because at least that was marginally interesting. His “nice guy” persona was so smarmy and slick that I was extra embarrassed for our dull blah of a heroine… how on earth would anyone find this goober charming?? Ma’am you are a boring little dumb-dumb. 🫣

The premise doesn’t make any damn sense either.

WOW just WOW .. Sandi did it again .. she will make you angry, cry, scream and fall in LOVE all in one book for one character. The way she pulls at your heart strings in the book for both characters will make you want to run out and get a cranberry muffin of your own. It might bring you closer to someone <3

Greyson and Harper’s story is somewhat enthralling .. it is something some might want but don’t know how to achieve it .. so when Harper takes matters into her own hands to give her self her own family she never dreams that she will ever know the Donor of her baby but when a prank go wrong she just might get her wish or maybe she shouldn’t know because boy oh boy she won’t be happy when she finds out ....

Grayson is not the boyfriend type but when he finds he need to be one to get what he has worked his whole life for he goes about it in the WRONG WAY.

But sometimes just some understand and caring words from a wise old man can make a bad situation better or was it the rain storm ??

Hearts and Flowers everywhere !! Loved every word .. even the lying ones !!

Wow. This shiet was so bad. I want to put so many cringe, gag, and eww gifs in this review right now 😐

So....The H has to leave his sperm at his friends cryosperm bank place after losing a bet. His friend goes on vacay and the HS sperm is accidentally used. Now to he has a nefarious reason to keep the H in his life and plans to dump her as fast as possible after his plan works.

Listen linda. LINDA. This was a steaming, hunk of a messy pile of bull doo doo hockey okur?!!!! He hated everything that a relationship entails. He smirked/smiled at a woman at a hotel bar while paying for ows (other womans) drink and kissing her in the elevator til he thinks, "oh, this person isn't my h" 😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐😐

When she tells him she loves him, he responds with "me too" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤔😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

There is one good thing about this book. It was a short read. The characters were so immature, and the dialogues were really bad. The characters are 30-32 years old and they behave like hormonal and stupoid 16yo. This book-big NO!!

The Donor is amazing!! Once I read the blurb, I was immediately intrigued. Ms. Lynn definitely thought outside the box with The Donor, the plot is fulfilling and exceeded my expectations.

The Donor is so much more than Harper getting pregnant via a donor from a cryobank and then meeting Grayson. And what seems like a coincidence really isn’t. The storyline is not only entertaining and concise, but it’s an excellent combination of a little angst, romance, surprises and of course, oh SO HOT sexy times!! There were times where I wanted to kill Grayson as he came across as a cold, heartless jerk. However, Harper certainly held her own with him and I loved her for that. This is a very good book that I highly recommend reading.

Your not a kid anymore

Maybe the premise of the story sounded great drunk but after sobering up not so much? Not to mention it was lame right up until the pregnant heroine figured what was going on. Not Sandi Lynn's best writing. I look forward to her next one nonetheless.

Harper Holland has always wanted a family, after being in and out of foster care, Harper wants nothing more than to have her own family, but after the woes she’s had with past relationships and with her biological clock ticking its time she does it on her own with the help of a fertility clinic.

Grayson Rhodes lost a bet to his best friend and had to “donate” his sperm to a fertility clinic run by his best friend... it was a joke, his profile and sperm were never to see the light of day. But something went wrong and his donor profile was sent out to Harper Holland who immediately opted to purchase said sperm. When Greyson finds out he’s furious... but soon his anger about the situation is over shadowed by his Grandfather’s ultimatum. Get settle down, or he’s handing over the company to someone else. Grayson hatches a plan, he wants to meet Harper and some how get her to fall in love with him to prove to his Grandfather that he’s settling down so he can have the company.

Grayson and Harper meet... he offers her a job with great terms... they start to date... it all seems too good to be true. So is it? when the truth comes out Harper is devastated; Then Grayson’s grandfather pays Harper a visit and makes her think twice. Can they have the happily ever after?

This story was meh... I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it. It could’ve been better. Grayson was an asshole, and while I liked Harper... she fell so easily. Anyway... middle of the road. Onwards.

KU*

3.5/3.75 stars

This book was a little different because I knew going in Grayson was a jerk, but I was intrigued on how it would play out. I’m not sure what I expected, which was this review a bit confusing, but the book fell a little flat for me.

Harper gets artificially inseminated with Grayson’s sperm by accident (he lost a bet); when Grayson learns of his grandfather’s ultimatum, he plans to use Harper and the baby to get what he wants then dump them.

Since we know Grayson is a buttmole with nefarious plans, I will start on Harper. Harper had a dream which I’m not sure if the dream was having a baby or having a family, but she focuses on a baby. I loved her determination and the support she had from her friends on her baby journey. However, I think I loved her friends more because they actually raised valid questions and concerns in terms of Harper being a single mom. While Harper had made plans to have a baby on her own, it honestly didn’t seem like she actually planned for the reality of the baby: she doesn’t have full health coverage or a way to supplement the difference, she doesn’t have a steady income and she lives in a small apartment not suitable for a baby (that was Harper’s issue, but I could see why she would think that’s a major issue); Harper’s answers to these issues? Get pregnant first and then worry incessantly about it.

Naturally for Grayson’s plan to work, he becomes her hero, gets her the flexible job with great benefits as well as a great apartment then starts the wooing. I actually want to shake some sense into Harper when her friend, Charlotte, brought up some good and very valid points about Grayson’s actions, but Harper chalked it up to her being jealous because she was alone (she totally blamed the hormones for that).

Now mind you, you could tell from the moment first saw Harper he liked her, but since he’s ass he went through with his plan for 72% of the book! He was doing his best boyfriend impression, but at times he would slip up and Harper would notice; I was actually pleased when she got mad at him and left for a bit, he didn’t know how to handle it. Oh yeah I forgot, he got mad and picked up a woman started to make out with her then stopped because he missed Harper, I considered that cheating so he was basically an ass for the entire book.

I think the best part was when Harper found out the truth and she let him have it. You have to understand in the book he literally went from being an ass to being 100% in love with from one chapter to the next; yet he still didn’t tell her the truth, the truth she ended up learning 3 months later after he fell in love with her.

Then the book pretty much had the problem resolved quickly and nicely. I guess my issue was that we spent most of the book with Grayson being an ass to Harper and the baby then we get them truly in love for like 5 seconds then the truth is revealed and everything blown apart then apologies then book finished. I would have liked to have seen them together more and see how Grayson actually changed instead of epilogues.

it’s like a train wreck….

This book is like a train wreck…. You just can’t turn away.

I wrote this off as a DNF shortly after I started, but came back to it and read it all the way through. I can’t say that I’m glad about it.

Plot breakdown:
Harper’s fiancé dumps her shortly before their wedding because he is not sure he can love her forever. As an orphan, she always wanted a family, so she decides to buy some donor sperm and do it on her own.

Grayson is a disgusting man whore pig billionaire who sleeps with a different woman every night. Then like a real POS, in the morning he tosses them out and tells them they wouldn’t be treated like a whore if they weren’t so easy. 🙄🙄 He loses a bet when he bet his best friend would be divorced before his two year anniversary. The friend owns a sperm bank, and makes him donate. There’s a mixup, and Harper winds up with his sperm. Which works in his favor as his grandfather gives him an ultimatum to settle down with a woman or he will not get the family company. So we hatches a plan to trick Harper into a relationship just until he gets the company signed over to him. He forces his best friend to break all sorts of laws by revealing her information. He gives her a job, an apartment and convinces her to date him. While pretending to actually care about Harper, we see his internal monologue and conversations with his friend where he goes on and on about how much he hates pretending to care, and how he can’t wait to dump her. He even tries to hookup with someone else while they’re together, but feels guilty at the last moment. He actually complains to his friend about her being pregnant and says “ soon she’ll start showing, and that gorgeous little body of hers will no longer exist.” And follows with “ what if I can’t get hard the further along she gets?” He’s a real pig. The first time they sleep together, he seriously asked her “do you trust me? … enough not to use a condom. you’re already pregnant, so we don’t have to worry about that, and I can guarantee you that I am 100% clean”. If he thinks the only reason he should use a condom is to prevent pregnancy, then she absolutely needs to use one as he’s slept with half of New York. 🤮

Naturally, this girl who was initially distrusting of men forgets all about it, and fall head over heels for him right from the beginning. She ignores all the obvious flags. Which shouldn’t be shocking as in the end, she did not even make him grovel and just took him right back because she believed him when he said he loved her all along 🙄 ugh. No. He spent most of the book being a pig, and most definitely did NOT love her. But suddenly has a personality transplant and decides he does. If you can suspend reality for a little bit, you might enjoy this. For me, it was just a train wreck all the way through that left me with an unsatisfying ending.
