Even people who aren't baseball fans would recognize the names of two teams, the Yankees and the Dodgers. Cohen does a good job chronicling a century of history of a team that has attracted fans beyond its home cities of Brooklyn and Los Angeles. Recognizing the challenge of covering 100 years of baseball in 240 pages, the book (written in 1990) summarizes each year's highlights in brief while expanding some stories that required more attention. The 1989 World Series does receive some extra attention, being the most recent prior to the book's publishing. Touches all the bases in Dodgers' history without going into too much detail.
