A murdered hunter is found hanging upside-down from a tree, dressed and bled out like a shot deer. Homicide is rare in Clever. It’s kind the town where people don't lock their doors, everyone says hello, and nobody fears walking down dark streets.
Then two more hanging, blood-drained corpses are found in the forest only a day later. Blue realizes she can’t catch this killer with two greenhorn deputies and an overly enthusiastic coroner. She feels she has no choice but to ask former FBI profiler, Neal Jenson, for his help to find the murderer.
But when the serial killer begins stalking Blue, she realizes they better snare this psychopath soon… before she becomes the Woodsman’s next victim.

I have heard from school friends that law enforcement in areas where you grow up can be disturbing and traumatic for more than the current victims
Blue is faced with legends from her childhood with contemporary connections and ripples. Domestic violence is grizzly.

This is very strange. I just read "Cold Dark Heart" which is listed as the first book in the Sheriff Blue Hayes series by this author. I enjoyed it quite a bit but the plot doesn't sound exactly the same from the blurb above. I'm very confused....

Non stop action
This first book kept me reading not wanting to put it down, for fear I might miss something. The characters are people , even the villains have a life . I am waiting on the next installment of Sheriff Blue, like waiting on a birthday present, I want it now.
