Border Knight #9

Sentinel of the North

Rate this book
When Sir William and his father, Sir Thomas of Stockton, the grandson of the Warlord, return from the crusade, they have to fight a new The Scots. Now that Queen Joan has died then King Alexander of Scotland is under the influence of the French. Sir William has to defend a perilously under protected border. King Henry loses a disastrous battle to the French and the men of the Tees Valley are decimated. This is when Sir William will be truly tested for he is alone with fewer men than he needs. A fast-moving novel which shows the border between Scotland and England at a time when Kings and nobles had yet to decide precisely where it was!

I was born in 1950 in Lancashire and attended a boy’s grammar school. After qualifying as an English and Drama teacher in 1972, I worked in the North East of England for the next 35 years. During that time I did write, mainly plays, pantos and musicals for the students at the three schools in which I worked.

When I stopped teaching I set up my own consultancy firm and worked as an adviser in schools and colleges in the North East of England. The new Conservative Government ended that avenue of work and in 2010 I found that I had time on my hands; having started work at the age of 15 I found the lack of work not to my liking and used the time to research the Roman invasion of Britain and begin to create a novel. The result was The Sword of Cartimandua.

My decision to begin writing was one of the best I have ever taken.

Another incredible read from a master storyteller

I am constantly amazed at the ability of Griff Hosker to continually produce exciting books based on historical fact with enough fiction tossed in to make the read absolutely enjoyable. Now as always I am stuck waiting a month or so for his next work to be published. I have read everything he has published and have never been disappointed

A two-hander - first a bit of paggering in Scotland and then down to Wales to pagger some more.

A well-paced story and exciting derring-do.

Beginning to see the third generation hero-clone getting a voice now. I hope he's more of a black sheep.

Wish Hosker's MCs were more variable and less 21st century.

C'mon one of you, you are a warrior - go sleep with someone out of wedlock...or at least think about doing it.

Another Hum Finger by Griff

I love the characters in this book. You can see the countryside, smell the bandits and hear the clash of swords.

Geoff Hosker never fails to enthralling with his story telling, and he should appeal to all ages.

I am so happy to have discovered such an amazing my prolific writer. 5***** as he thoroughly earns them.

This book was too damn short. I looked up and found that I was at 92% finished on my Kindle. I’ve read every one of Mr. Hosker’s books and I have yet to be disappointed. Action, intrigue and near personal tragedy are all there.

A cracking good read

If I was hypnotized and regressed, I'm sure the details I've read would convince any listeners that I had lived then!
Well done and thank you for a good yarn.
