Cursed Academy #1-6

The Cursed Academy Complete Series Boxset #1-6

Rate this book
The Complete Cursed Academy Series is now here as a single omnibus! Binge on six full academy novels for one low price! On sale this January.

Giselle Bowman never thought she'd be descended from a Greek god...or a monster.

Klutzes and small-town girls don't find out they're descended from the Greek gods. They don't get taken to Olympian Academy to learn to hone their godlike powers. But when Giselle accidentally summons a void that almost eats her friend, it's done. Except she doesn't get sorted into Olympian, but to Cursed Academy, where the descendants of dark gods and the monsters from Greek mythology learn to serve their betters.

And that's just the start. Giselle 1.) has a new type of magic never seen before and 2.) gets to deal with an epic jerk, Ronin, from Olympian Academy next door. He's a descendant of Zeus, totally hot, and very out of her league.

Giselle quickly learns her void-summoning powers aren't normal and that an unknown enemy--perhaps someone in Cursed Academy already--seeks to use her for a plan so vile, it threatens the gods and the modern world. With nowhere else to turn, Giselle must seek help from Ronin, who might have a clue on what she is. If only he'd stop making fun of her every time she trips over her shoelaces.

Is Giselle ready to learn the terrifying truth about herself and her powers?

Cursed Academy is a teen supernatural academy romance series based on the dark side of Greek mythology. The next book in the series, One and a Half, is now available for preorder.

Had potential, but poorly executed

While the story was interesting, it was very poorly written. The portrayal of character development became boring and irritating to read because of predictability from the redundant quips that the author adds constantly through the series. It breaking the flow of the story.I kept thinking: I get it... He has biceps and he's a sexist manly man.🙄 You don't have to write "I thought that was funny" after already chuckling or grinning. Wtf... Oh that's suppose to be "she" not "he". Wtf does that have to do with anything going on?!: just random thoughts popping up while reading this. There seemed to be almost no editing with tons of obvious grammatical errors, but also inconsistent dialogue in the story. Too many void characters that had names, but added nothing to the story as if they were sloppily thrown in just to kill off or disappear only then to be vaguely mentioned later. This might be a spoiler, but supposedly there's a group of mean kids: 4 of them 2 girls and 2 boys. Only one of these mean kids befriends the main character. She's supposed to be the queen bee bitch, but the alliance doesn't happen until later. It's like the author just forgot about that part and then suddenly remembered and the names just randomly pop up throughout with no substance to the plots already going on. At one point Duncan, gets banned from the school so obviously he's gone, but somehow he is standing in the arena next to her. Pretty sure that it was supposed to say "Percival" and not "Duncan", but since Wendy was the only character out of the mean kids that was involved in the main story line, the fill in characters could just randomly pop up and disappear again. Things like that detract so often along with tons grammatical errors made this challenging to read. This had so much potential to be a great series, but because of all the mistakes, plot holes, redundancy then followed by the predictable monotone characters that I give it 1 star simply because it takes a lot of work and effort to publish any story and bravery to share your creativity to the world. It hurts to see negative comments and reviews. I don't like writing negative reviews, but I'm shocked that this is a series of books. I read all of them and I wanted to go through it with a highlighter and red pen to fix it because of how terribly written they all were! How?! After scrawling through the first with , how did you get them all published with a blasé attitude towards plots, character personality, and so many errors? I admire that you accomplished this, but wow, you need an editor!

An edgy and entertaining series

The Cursed Academy Complete Series Boxset: An edgy and entertaining series

*****Cursed Academy Year One:
This series pulled me in, and kept my interest. There’s a lot of machinations behind the scenes, good and bad, and a huge unknown as to what Giselle really is.

*****Cursed Academy Year One and a Half:
Wow. So much happening in this book with a fast pace that kept me on edge! Friends and frenemies. Good and evil. Threats and danger. Wins and surprises. A very well developed story.

****Cursed Academy Year Two:
This story continues the series with a realignment of friends, more power discoveries, and overcoming an unexpected hex.

*****Cursed Academy Year Three:
This story is action packed with surprises and lots of changes. Ends on a big cliffhanger. What happens next??

*****Cursed Academy Year Three and a Half:
The pace picks up in this book, and the surprises keep coming. Intense. Ends on another cliffhanger.

****Cursed Academy Year Four:
Edgy and entertaining. Continuing the fast pace of this series, all leading up to an epic showdown. So many unknowns, but much to gain. Losses are a high risk, and unknown. Nice wrap up.

Cool Concept, Disenchanting Characters

I enjoyed reading this series, but also disliked many of the characters, who didn’t feel particularly fleshed out. The FMC was often selfish and a terrible friend. She was supposedly arty, but forgot all about her passion the moment she entered Cursed Academy. She lacked any real personality. Her leading man was similar and a self-identified ‘alpha male’ (and not in the werewolf kind) and there were several comments about ‘being a man’ by not showing emotions or that characters were handling things ‘like a man’. I enjoyed a lot of the side characters, and would’ve liked to seen them more fleshed out. Saying that, the last book was probably the best for this. Knowing about Greek mythology also made it somewhat predictable, such as the roles of the gods and the parts they came to play. But they also didn’t feature a lot. However, a really cool concept for a story and I’ll probably check out the authors other works, but I do hope that there is a little more depth. This is good casual reading.

Exciting read full of action, intrigue & romance

I'm a fan of supernatural academy series so decided to give this author and series a try. I was not disappointed. Definitely worth a 4.5 star rating.

This series is full of action, intriguing twists, good vs evil, rivalry, loyal friends, and romance. The story line and characters are well developed in my opinion. Once I started reading I could not stop as I couldn't wait to see what happened next. Finished the 6 book series in 4 days.

There were some minor editing issues with misplaced / missing words, but didn't detract from the story. And definitely better edited than other e-books I've read.

Definitely one of the better written and imaginative supernatural academy series I've read.

Cursed Academy by Holly Hook is a wonderful series! What would you do if you suddenly found out you were magical, then dumped into the Cursed Academy by mistake instead of Olympian where you belong? Giselle is now stuck at Cursed Academy, doing everything possible not to "go dark". If she matures while she is there, she will become something she knows she is not meant to be. Her only hope is to be transferred to Olympian Academy. But transfers are impossible due to an oath between the gods. Now she is stuck and maturing more every year. Read on to learn how Giselle, her friends, and her boyfriend, Ronin, try to keep the darkness at bay and how they work towards breaking the sacred oath. No one wants to mature at Cursed Academy. No one wants to become a monster!

The gods Arise

The gods of Olympus are awake and taking back the world. They have taken an Oath and all descendent of the former rulers, gods and monsters, are sent to Olympia or Cursed Academy when they start to show powers. Giselle is a klutzy nobody and can’t believe she is getting powers. Ronin, a descendent of Zeus doesn’t believe it either. Things get real weird when Giselle is marked for the monster school.
This series is for older, mature teens because the content is contemporary. The stories are well written and not as detailed as an adult book, but I would check them before handing them off to a teenager. They are PG-17 in my opinion after the first book or so.

This series is amazing. I love the mythical characters and creatures portrayed.
This series follows Giselle, a shy nerdy girl from a small town.
After the Awakening anyone who has the potential for magic is found and sent to either Olympian Academy or Cursed Academy. Ronin is the messenger sent to Colton Corners to find the one he was sent for.
This series is full of drama and romance, intrigue, betrayal and awesome friendships that have you enthusiastically rooting for one side or the other with twists you don’t see coming.
Recommend this book to everyone.

Great read, Great characters

Loved this story, but feel it could've done better as an older academy series. The decided lack of details about bedroom antics feels like it restricts the audience into a series for coming of age readers instead of adults. But not a big deal breaker and so it scored a 4 in my books (forgive the pun/segue). Just feel it could've been targeted at older readers, like what academy series for end of college recruitment into schools of magic at around the 18-25 age bracket. Still a great read though, as is.

Perseverance required

The author clearly tried very hard with this book and I commend her for that however that being said, it's riddled with errors and contradictions. I persevered hoping that it would get better after the first book or so but alas it did not. The story has so much potential and it's a shame she couldn't quite reach it. I mean how many times do I need to read about the main characters boyfriend flexing his biceps! I'm sure these books will please some but if after reading the first few chapters you aren't convinced, I suggest moving on to something else.

Very good story line

This series takes you back to mythology in a very unique way and before you realize what you are doing, your thinking ?is that the way I was taught? The characters are fun and spiteful, the landscape is what you would expect and the story was different than most supernatural stories in a really good way. I would let my 12 year old read this and she will enjoy it just as much.

A really good story ruined with constant and totally avoidable errors of all kinds. Redundant language, contradictions, misspelling and wrong words, confused sentence structure, and whole paragraphs that didn't fit within the narrative it was placed. Author and editor should also learn that a circle (burned in the forest for Giselle's training with Celestus) might be measured by radius, diameter, or circumference, but it would not have length and width ("8-feet by 8-feet").

A must read for everyone at any age!

I am a slow reader and it might take me a month or more to finish a book. Not so with this box set of six. I really couldn't stop until I read all six books. The story of Giselle, Cursed Academy, Ronin (Zeus's son) and the Olympian Academy kept we riveted. I also learned more about the Ancient Gods than I had ever learned from a movie. Fascinating stuff! It may be a story about teens and magic, but I'm 67 years old and I loved it!!!

Unique Plot

Took a while to get to the point and have anything substantial happen but when it did the action was worthwhile. The premise was unique and creative so the ending made it worthwhile. I did appreciate that they finally exposed and directly addressed the flaws of the ancient gods instead of brushing it under the carpet or just hinting at it as some supernatural books do.

Unusual series of the Gods

I loved how this series isn’t your typical God like series. Lots of twists and some very unexpected turns made this a very intriguing read. Gisellle certainly had a lot to overcome to be who she needed to be to take on the almighty powerful Zeus. With the help of her boyfriend Ronin and her friends,

For some reason the book had many grammar mistakes and every time I started reading quickly I had to stop because a sentence didn’t make sense and I had to reread it. But regardless of these mishaps I found the book thoroughly enjoyable and found myself rooting toward happy endings for all of the characters. Two thumbs up!

I loved this series. I started reading it because I like the mythological characters and it sounded good. It lived up to my expectations. There were a few typos along the way, but most books have a few.
The series didn't end the way I thought it was going to but it was way better the way it did end.
I would love to read more about the group in the books and what they did afterward.

Long but fast

This is a really good series. At first I thought it would be more like a B rated plot but it definitely followed a really good storyline and read almost like a tv show. Each book having its own challenges and obstacles, but having the overall affect and last twists. 10/10 would recommend.

I really enjoyed reading this collection of books. It included two magical campuses, plenty of friends, lovers and enemies. It even ends with a huge battle against Mount Olympus led by a descendant of Chaos and her boyfriend, a son of Zeus that sees past his illusions. Definitely a worthy read for fans of YA adventures set in a magical collegiate theme with direct mythological connections.

Good Mythilogical Story

Good world build, excellent characters, a different twist on Mythilogical characters, action, magic, friendship and romance. Would have given it 5 stars but the mispellings and word usage made it difficult to understand a few parts of the story, also the ending was sort of abrupt. Still a good story despite those drawbacks.

Good solid series.

I would think most young readers. It does have a little bit about teenagers having sex. But not graphic. I liked that is is a boxed set. And affordable. Yeah the price is very important. But the story building is good and the story ends well. A enjoyable story.

I am glad I didn't avoid this series

When there is a series it seems to become repetitive. This was a full story from beginning to end and very enjoyable. Easy to get sucked into the story and stay lost to real time. The characters had great chemistry and not just with the main characters. Really enjoyed reading this series.

Good idea - Poor Execution

I struggled to get through the first book and started the second hoping the grammar and prose would get better, but after 182 pages I just couldn’t take it any more. It’s unfortunate because this series had the potential to be awesome.

Please hire an editor, as the books clearly didn’t spend time with one. The story line is an interesting enough concept, but the dialect is pretty terrible. I’m mostly through book one, I don’t know if I’ll keep going based on how poorly written the characters are.

Enjoyable read about mythical gods

Holly did an excellent job with these books! Every book kept me at the edge of my seat. Holly did a good job flushing out all of the characters. I highly recommend reading all the books.

Interesting

It would have received a better review if UT had been better edited . as it was, there were missing words that made for confusion in the plot. The story, itself, was entertaining, and wrapped up nicely at the end.

terrible book

Writing was awful, ever seen a movie with poor acting, that explains this book. So dry, and out dated. The up and down of the main male character, is he smart? Is he dumb? Is it just the book that’s dumb. 10/10 I DONT RECOMMEND
