From USA Today bestselling author Leslie Langtry comes the latest laugh-out-loud mystery about big trouble in a small town...
What's better than one King Vulture? Two, of course!
Merry Wrath, former CIA turned Girls Scout troop leader, is over the moon when her wacky taxidermist sisters-in-law present her with a stuffed King Vulture named Nellie Lou. But while the bird is beautiful, the deceased vulture has a secret past that leads to unanticipated trouble-ranging from a bad LSD trip to actually tripping over a dead body in Merry's garage!
When a bizarre pair of men named Mr. Sun and Mr. Moon start lurking about, and Central Iowa is plagued with a rash of taxidermied animal thefts, Merry wonders how she's once again managed to get in the middle of it all. It doesn't help that she has to mentor a younger troop with two unmotivated leaders and a kid who experiments with napalm.
With an arrogant mayor causing trouble, her house being trashed, and a dangerous kidnapping, Merry has to figure out who the killer is before Nellie Lou isn't the only dead thing in her life.
Leslie Langtry is a USA Today Bestselling Author of the Merry Wrath Mysteries and the Bombay Family of Assassins Greatest Hits series. She lives in the Midwest with her family and is an active Girl Scout volunteer. Her dream is to someday invent calorie free cake.
Merry Wrath, ex-spy and Girl Scout leader with two very creative taxidermist sisters-in-law. She's not your typical small town Iowa resident and this isn't your typical mystery. It's funny, quirky and crazy with a surprise twist at the end.
I've read all 13 Merry Wrath Mysteries and it is one of my favorite series. Author Leslie Langtry has an amazing imagination.
This is a fun series that has very unusual group of people. Things happen out of the normal but funny adventures for this ex CIA operative. It’s like potato chips you can’t stop after one.
Maltese Vulture Murder earns 5/5 King Vultures...Absolutely Entertaining!
In-laws can be odd, weird even, but Merry’s sisters-in-law may just be the gold standard. Twins loving Randi and evil Ronni are artists who own the Ferguson Taxidermy using their unique artistry, and a few dead creatures, to create inspired dioramas like Battle of Gettysburg all in snakes or Game of Thrones depicted with lemurs. Recently one of their very first projects had been returned, a King Vulture in all its swooping glory, and knowing Merry’s, and her troop’s, personal affinity for the real-life King Vulture at the local zoo on loan from the Smithsonian (It actually saved her life!), this particular work of art finds its way into Merry’s possession! However, it’s break-ins, thefts, strange men, hallucinations, and another dead body that turns up this drama...way up!
Brilliant! I am an eager fan of Leslie Langtry and her Merry Wrath series greatly entertained by her writing style full of descriptive language, dialogue fitting the various personalities, nail-biting peril, and an often snarky humor I totally enjoy. The world she has created is filled with a diverse bunch of characters from admirable and talented to quirky, devious, and just plain up to no good. Predicaments, often perilous, include everything in the federal statues and like a roller coaster ride with twist and turns, ups and downs, my head was spinning, but in the end I couldn’t wait to repeat the whole experience. There was plenty of weirdness, mysterious people, suspects, but many seem more local than part of an international gang out for Merry’s head. The Girl Scouts seem better suited to this particular investigation spending some of their valuable skills devising and executing plans to find a mate for Mr. Fancy Pants, the zoo’s real-life King Vulture. One needs to suspend disbelief since no parent would really want their child learning effective stalking techniques....it’s just plain fun! I highly recommend this series!
Disclosure: I received an ARC from Gemma Halliday Publishing. My review is voluntary with honest insights and comments.
Another crazy, wonderful glimpse into the mind of ex-CIA agent, current Girl Scout leader Merry Wraith! It worries me a little that I find this woman to be so hilarious and yet so deadly at the same time! Hahaha! This mystery has A LOT of twists and turns! I couldn’t put it down. I was completely blown away by the ending! Such fun! If you have a sense of humor that is on the strange side and you love a good mystery, then you need to read the Merry Wraith mystery series! They are stand-alone books, but I recommend starting at #1 to get to know Merry and her crazy life!
You can’t miss with this book. Lots of fun, laughter and Girl Scouts! I truly believe these Scouts will take over the world one day. Kerry’s sister-in-law gives her a stuffed Maltese Vulture and it seems the action starts from there. If you haven’t read any of the books in this series, I highly recommend you begin with book one. Lots more fun that way!
This cozy has it all! No spoilers in this review, but here's what you need to know: This book is absolutely fun, hilarious, full of madcap and mayhem along with a mystery to rival the best of mysteries, and a cast of characters that compare to no others! Although it may be helpful to have read the Merry Wrath mysteries before, it's NOT necessary to completely enjoy this book. The story is so engaging, and the characters so well developed (and have you actively imagining the connections) you will have no trouble figuring out all the relationships and discovering the characters that you love to love and love to hate. Everything about this book screams read me now, and trust me when I tell you, you won't be sorry! The stuffed bird angle is so original, it makes you wonder how the author's mind comes up with this stuff. I can't even tell you about how many laugh out loud moments there are, but they just make you want to swipe the pages till the end...then, sadly you have to wait for the next madcap mystery installment of Merry and the gang! I received an advanced copy of this book and am delighted to provide my honest review.
Another huge hit in the Merry Wrath Mysteries series. The crazy antics of Merry Wrath in Who’s There, Iowa keep getting better and better. The entire lovable cast of characters is back and once again Rex and Merry have murder and mystery in their small town, wait, in their garage! Merry is gifted a beautiful stuffed King Vulture named Nellie Lou from her crazy sisters in law and suddenly the stuffed bird and others start disappearing. The pages are full of crazy theories, outrageous scouting adventures, and a mystery worthy of turning pages all through the night. Hugely entertaining and fun you can’t miss with a Merry Wrath mystery!
I was provided with an ARC of this book by the publisher for my honest review.
Even when Merry isn't involved, every strange case (ok, murder) in Who's There seems to circle back to her. When a body is found in their garage, Merry quickly points out to Rex that it is on his side! Then it becomes a contest as to who can solve the case first!!
You have to appreciate author Leslie Langtry's sense of humor and acceptance of quirky behavior as you read this thirteenth (13th!!!) adventure in this phenomenal series. Guaranteed to make you burst out laughing, it is one of the more convoluted books I have read! And I mean that in the best way possible! Ms Langtry has delivered a sure fired hit! I can hardly wait to see what happens next! Personally, I would like to learn more about Reilly's assistant, Claire. She is too good to be true! Write faster LL!
Could there be a soulmate for Mr. Fancy Pants? Anything is possible! This book adds a little more personality with Merry’s sisters-in-law, Randi and Ronni, who are a bigger part of the story this time. Plus, add in plenty of action when a stuffed vulture causes all kinds of havoc. Leslie Langtry continues to amaze me with her humor and ability to write bizarre situations and make them seem like normal day-to-day life with Merry Wrath/Ferguson! I just loved this book, and can’t wait for the next one in this series. Plus, little Betty just seems to be getting smarter and smarter (and more dangerous) with each book.
I’ve read all the books in this series and this one does not disappoint. I think it may be the best one yet! Merry Wrath, former spy finds herself embroiled in yet another murder, this time in her garage. Or as she puts it, on REX’S side of the garage. Besides trying to solve the crime, her girl scout troop as taken on mentoring a younger troop with some unsuccessful leaders. Just the thought of this made me laugh hard! Merry’s girls are unusual, to say the least. I really admire this author as the way she mixes mystery with hilarity is rare. I don’t know how she is going to top this one!!
This series is highly recommended to anyone who likes to laugh. Merry and her Girl Scout troop are at it again. I always hate to finish one of these books, it seems like forever until the next one. Ms Langtry has created an unforgettable cast of characters. If you haven't tried this series you are missing a great read. In my opinion the series just gets better. I promise if you don't laugh at least once you can't be human.
The wonderful world of Merry Wrath, King Vultures, Girl Scouts and who done its abound in this latest most marvelous outing from Leslie Langtry. Again I couldn't put it down. I just love the minds of those little girls who are gonna rule the world. What a brilliant idea to introduced a younger generation of scouts? Mentoring the younger troop members opens so many avenues for future mischief and mayhem! Ms Langtry if you keep writing 'em, I'll keep devouring 'em! Kudos
Another will written romantic thriller mystery adventure novel by Leslie Langtry book 13 in the Merry Wrath Mystery Series. Once again Merry, the girl 👧 scout troop, and friends find themselves involved in a murder mystery investigation leading to 👍the unexpected conclusion. I highly recommend this novel and series to readers of mysteries. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or 🎶 listening to novels of all kinds 🔰🐕🐈🏡 2022
Merry is gifted a taxidermy vulture which was returned to Rex’s sisters after the owner died. Then she goes on a “trip” induced by touching the bird. When she awakes her husband asks about the dead body in the garage. While she and Kelly juggle the troop and a six year old troop they sponsor Merry continues to wreak havoc on crime and the community. A laugh a minute.
When you pick up a book by Leslie Langtry, you know you will be thoroughly entertained. Maltese Vulture Murder continues the antics of scout leader Merry Wrath. She and her Girl Scout troop solve another murder that occurs in their small town. Thanks to Leslie Langtry for delivering a delightful heroine to the literary world.
I love the Merry Wrath books! I die every time the Girl Scout troop is described. Those girls are hysterical and hopefully not believable. Fire bugs. The description of her spy life makes me laugh. How many people can die around Merry, though? At least they come into the town instead of the town people dying left and right (usually).
Merry Wrath mysteries are great! Leslie Langtry did not disappoint with this book. There us always something within the story that makes me laugh out loud. If Who's There, Iowa, was a real town, I have a feels by it would be worth visiting. The girls in the scout troop are so well intentioned and Merry definitely rubs off on them.
This book was a little more confusing but a great book. After getting laced with so.e type of drug and was seeing weird things she realised there was a dead body and then all kinds of mysteries started to pop up to solve them the whole gang came together and the ending well let's just say crazy good!
I laughed out loud several times while reading this book. I don't want to leave any spoilers. The Merry Wrath series is great fun. I get very impatient waiting for my next dose.
What a laugh out loud till tears are streaming down your face read . Can’t wait for the next installment and see what hijinks Merry and her band of Girl Scouts get into . A must read
This one was particularly "chuckle out loud" worthy! Merry Wrath is a hoot. The whole premise is a hoot. An outed CIA spy now a Girl Scout Leader in small-town Iowa! The mysteries are fun!
I am glad I don't have a Betty or Lauren in my life. They are pretty scary. Even Sophie seems destined for a life of crime. Figuring out the Mastermind was not easy, nor the complex relationships.
Merry is gifted a stuffed vulture by her sister-in-laws, but unfortunately coming into contact with the bird causes issues for her. Then a dead body is found, dead (stuffed) animals are stolen and some weird men are seen around town.
Merry and Kelly try to help a group of younger scouts, and their leaders, who are not bonding like their troop does. Ronnie seems to be extra hateful towards Merry in this one, Betty is her usual hilarious self, and Merry does her best to keep her in line, even at the risk of being labelled 'no fun'.
This was a great read, with lots of laughs, and the characters are such fun!
Another fun adventure with Merry Wrath & her troop. This series never fails to make me laugh & keep me reading until the end. I look forward to many more adventures.
Love this series, and Merry is the best! A really fun read with lots of twists and turns.I received an ARC from the publisher for purposes of an unbiased review. T loved the book and you will too!
