"I want that toad,"John says, me too. Two best friends love to share everything -- their toys, bikes, even candy bars. Until one day a little toad hops into their lives and they discover that not everything can be shared. Young children are sure to relate to this humerous and satisfying look at friendship and sharing.
An easy rhyming book about friendship, sharing, and feelings. The illustrations are on the right side and the words on the left, making it easy to read aloud. I also specifically like that the friendship is between two boys from different races. I also really liked that the boys didn't have to talk about their argument and officially apologize to eachother. They were just able to get over it and move on after kicking the stone.
Cute book about friends who get along great and know how to share, but have a fight over something they can't share. The resolution didn't really show the children using any good strategies to make up, but is was realistic. :) And the toad is unharmed. This was on my school's pillars of character reading list for responsibility.
I think a 4 is good for me. The story is simple and sweet but I feel like oddly it's a message I don't see very often: it's ok for you and friend to argue and get mad at each other but you can just as easily move past it. There isn't always a direct solution other than just moving on.
Two boys who share everything fight over a toad, and the toad eventually escapes and the boys go back to sharing everything. I would use this book to teach my students about sharing.
A delightful little rhyming book about sharing. While the boys argue about who gets to keep the toad, the toad hops away. Then they are really upset with each other. See how they overcome their anger.
