Book Review

This gets a full house in regards to my rating just because as per usual whether I actually liked where the story was heading or not there was no way on heaven or earth anyone would have been able to prise me away from this disturbing table of events.
I don't want to actually go into to much detail here mainly because this just needs to be experienced in all its unapologetic entirety.
To actually comprehend the whys and whatevers of all involved here you need to intermesh yourself fully into the landscape and mindsets of all involved.
We are dealing with an almost hive mindset with a morally reprehensible outlook on all its society.
So basically the empire and sigil are actually the bad guys and though you never can really condone their actions I could at least get to a point in my head where I could see how they had arrived at this current crossroads in the Empires overall objective.
It is really all about protecting and acquiring precious sigil she is really the key to everything that has occurred and will occur despite her abhorrence for this fact.
In Sovereign, we delve more into the emotional side of Sigil but don't expect her to suddenly blossom into all that is good and kind Our precious girl is still the psychotic sociopathic killer from the previous book as the brothers discover time and time again.
This story was so interesting and despite certain directions that I would have prefered otherwise, I was transfixed throughout; Addison Cain is definitely an author I can't get enough of.
Her dark mind delves into crevises others fear to tread appaling and enthralling me equally.
So this was left in my opinion slightly open-ended for future story development which was great as I felt I got closure while still eagerly anticipating the next shocking chapter.
As such I am happy to wait even though I really do want it right now; just because I am so bloody impatient for my next fix.
I am going to leave you with my favourite quote from the whole book just to entice.
“Stop?” Sovereign’s grip tightened his voice razor blades. “It is always stop, isn’t it? I give you gentleness, you fight. I build you an empire, you hate me for it! I could take you here, on these very dead right now. I could make you, and you couldn’t stop me—just like you couldn’t stop me on Pax. I could push into your body anytime I wanted.” He bit at her mouth, lapped her lips before he shoved the startled woman away. “There is no STOP! There is only wait. Wait while you fuck my Brother. Wait while you mourn a being who never loved you. And I will wait, Sigil. You would be surprised how far my patience will extend. But there is never, ever going to be a stop. I don’t even think the grave could keep me from you

I have enjoyed her work, but I can no longer support someone who repeatedly starts a series just to leave it unfinished. If not having a conclusion really bothers you I would avoid this. However, if you just want to enjoy to dark, twisty sci-fi sort-of romance books then Sigil and Sovereign are great reads
An amazing follow up to Sigil, full of political intrigue, lies, hidden truths and power plays
A dark, twisty and emotional sci-fi reverse harem story, though I hesitate to call it a romance as yet. Whilst there are many declarations of love made, the truth of that love is so very complicated and almost perverted.
I read the original version of Sigil (Irdesi Empire Book 1) as an arc and the moment I finished that I bought and read Sovereign. I have been avidly awaiting the next instalment and was excited to hear that both Sigil and Sovereign had been reworked and updated with extra content. In anticipation of reading the third book, I decided to read the newer versions of Book #1 and #2.
I adored the original version of Sovereign and was curious to see what I would feel after reading the extended edition. I knew this would be at times a difficult read, the story of Sigil, Sovereign and the Brotherhood is not an easy one. I expected to not want to put this story down, and I was not disappointed.
The story resumes with Quinn/Sigil awakening in a beautiful prison, though Sovereign and his Brothers fail to see it as such. With Que gone, will Sigil submit and become Imperial Consort, or will she continue to fight for her freedom? When Sigil chooses to travel to Irdesi Prime she finds so much hidden behind lies and half truths. She longs to be free, to be left alone and in peace, but do Sovereign and his Brothers love her enough to allow this?
As with the extended version of Sigil, I could not see any 'seams' where alterations had occurred or new material had been added. I did feel as though the plot flowed more smoothly, in my original review of Sovereign I stated that
I didn't feel that in this reading. The extra material definitely wasn't fluff (pah - as if that would ever exist in an Addison Cain novel) nor filler, it all served a purpose. I also felt as though I understood the political manoeuvrings better this time. Whether this was a result of the improvements or just due to knowing the overall story and being able to concentrate on different aspects I couldn't say.
Whilst Kahrl has always been a favourite of mine, I found Tiburon to be a much more likeable character this time. Whilst he is clearly plotting and has his own agenda, I also felt he was the one who most put Sigil's needs above his own. Sovereign is still difficult to like, let alone love, and yet there were glimpses of a better man at times. Whilst all he does is supposedly due to his love of and for Sigil, he rarely seems to stop and consider how to make her happy.
As I've already said, this was a book I didn't want to put down. I would recommend waiting to read it until you have several hours free when you know you won't be disturbed. If I shared Sigil's psionic ability several of my family would be suffering from the consequences of having interrupted me whilst I was reading this!
It is as dark as the warning given. The sex scenes are not gratuitous, and actually fairly tame in description compared to some. The book does contain scenes of dubious consent, there are also a few fairly gory episodes and some violence. As such it would be a book suitable for mature and adult readers. If you like dark stories, manipulative characters, sci-fi settings and captivating writing then I do recommend you try this amazing book.

I liked this even more than book 1. In this books, we learnt more truths and discovered more lies. We saw more of Sigil and less of Quinn but I loved how the story progressed. I still feel in the dark as much as Sigil/Quinn but I liked this aspect.
There is quite a lot of action in this story and at times almost too much happens in a short time, but I still enjoyed it. I liked the suggestion that the brotherhood is NOT quite as cohesive as was first implied. when we did get to see Quinn (and I chose that carefully) I liked how we saw her personality grow and mature.
It is very difficult to review this book without spoiling it. However, you need to have read book 1 to read this and, in my opinion, this book is even better. Sigil/Quinn is less openly hostile - some have likened this to her being weaker, but in my opinion, it was her becoming more adept at 'playing the game' with and fooling the brotherhood. There are two incidents with the sovereign that would argue the same.
The book again ends on a cliff-hanger and I am eagerly awaiting the next instalment.

I'm kind of bummed... Sigil was this super bad-ass, crazy powerful chick in book 1, and she's been reduced to this shell of her former self, and while I understand that she's grieving, I also wanted to see a bit of the Sigil/Quinn I knew she was capable of being. We didn't get that for a looooonnnngggg time.
There are also certain problem with some scenes and plot lines.
The whole Soshiia plot ended and started in this second novel. While the twins were a total surprise, (and I loved them however briefly they appeared), this particular section of the book was handled very, very poorly. The Soshiia seemed so interesting and elusive and positively complex--they were set up to be incredibly difficult to track down, but Sigil does it in a snap. How did the entire Brotherhood struggle so much?
Also, what happened to the soldier? It seemed extremely important that someone was able to travel up the ranks of a supposedly fool-proof, military-esque society without detection. So how was he able to?
Secondly, what the fuck is Tiburon's sudden personality switch? How did he go from creepster, "I will fuck her into submission, Sovereign, you little bitch" to "Sigil, I have always wanted to protect you," and into some sort of uncle-like figure? I want to see more his past with Dr. Saniel. It seems right up Cain's alley, but this time, we have the brilliant Dr. Saniel and her sex-slave Tiburon. God--powerful men brought to their knees--I am ready.
Karhl was the only saving grace. Still, we know next to nothing about him. We don't know what he likes, what he does, who he really is. All we know is that he loves Sigil and would do all kinds of kinky shit with her (hence the fisting during advanced pregnancy).
Sovereign also seemed to have changed quite a bit. In book 1, he was this powerful force to be reckoned with; he was intimidating. And while I get that Sigil is really special (only woman of their kind, need her for breeding kind of special), I didn't really care for this new and (un)improved, overly accommodating, whiney, I just want you to love me version.
One of the biggest mysteries in the book was who the Soshiia are. The mere mention of their name is enough to strike fear in the hearts of the villagers, and nobody will tell Sigil. When it was finally revealed, I was surprised! This is great! I'm hardly ever surprised! But I thought the whole thing was handled really poorly. So much more could have been done with these characters. And their final demise? A huge disappointment in not only how quickly it all occurred, but also in Sigil's non-reaction to it. Yes, she was raised to be a soldier. Yes, she was trained to kill. But her complete apathy in this scenario was not only difficult to believe, it was hard to swallow.
I loved Arden in this book. He surprised me many, many times, and I also liked Karhl, but some of the other supporting characters were all over the place. Tiburon (which incidentally means shark, though I thought Spanish a weird choice for this book) for example, went from cold-blooded (hehe) to weirdly protective with no explanation. I was just confused by most of his interactions with Sigil.
I'm not sure which direction book three will go, but even after really liking book 1, I find myself disinterested in finding out after reading this one. 2.5 bummed out stars...

This book was written a few years ago and don't fall for the three books in the series, that's been there since about 2016 and there is no third book and it's not being worked on. This author never finishes her stories and this book ends on a cliff hanger. I have totally given up on this author and I think this deceptive form of publishing is so disrespectful to readers. I spent real world dollars on these books and in return I expect at the very least to be treated with some honesty. I have totally given up on this author and won't read any more of her books as I feel really ripped off. I can't believe her fan base is so accepting of this.

General thoughts:
This book captured me. I read it straight through, couldn't put it down.
However, I’m completely frustrated with the serial format. This book left me with more questions than answers. And I didn’t understand the point of a few things, but maybe more will be revealed in the next book that will explain them.
There’s not really much else I can think to say without it containing possible spoilers. Partly because this book is not a standalone, most of the storyline and character developments are a continuation of things that occurred in book one. The other part is because it’s like only watching the first half of a movie. Without knowing the end I could only say it’s been really good so far, but it’s hard to know how I’ll really feel about it in the end.
I guess because I read the Alpha’s Claim series first, I’m a bit hesitant to get attached and keep expecting the worst. Also, I think I’m a little burnt out on serials. As long as you’re okay with serials, then I’d absolutely recommend this.

Well... this was not what I expected in Sovereign and it has taken me a couple weeks (maybe a few) to digest.
Sovereign Book Two of the Irdesi Empire is heavy, artistically rich in detail, and yet tactful in its word selection, like a well employed strategy to keep the reader hanging on every word. The battle field is Addison Cain’s book pages and her words are her sword. I honestly felt like I was reading this prepared for battle, and yet I wasn’t sure who I was fighting/rooting for.
Addison Cain is brilliant in wielding her mighty pen (or most likely computer and key board but I’m enjoying my analogy 😊) and staining the minds of her readers with her calculated use of prose.
I will avoid going into too much detail with Book Two of the Irdesi Empire Series because I’ll turn this into one big spoiler, and there is a lot that happens! In short, the story picks up some 40 plus years later after Sigil has woken up from cryo and is no longer living on Pax. She is welcomed by Sovereign and his other brothers in the hopes of helping Sigil move on with her life, however while almost five decades have passed, Sigil is still mistrustful of Sovereign and the rest of his men, her Harem. The mistrust has everything to do with Sigil’s conditioning, genetic make-up and experience with Sovereign.
“You were not cured of your compulsion. Such a thing was ingrained into your very thinking and chemical response to various stimuli. Do you want to be left feral in a cage with no future? Or do you want freedom and life?”
So essentially Sigil is still conflicted about her situation. It is made worse by the fact that she feels manipulated and that her entire environment (planet) is designed with the sole purpose of manipulating her emotions to yield to Sovereign. And our girl Sigil is no dummy! She doesn’t want to trust anyone but she is in a world where she sees everyone as the enemy! This story is messed and I felt like I was constantly looking for a happy place! There was no happy place! 😳
(I will confess while reading this book I hummed DJ Snake & Justin Bieber’s Let Me Love You because that was my only source of levity through the darkness and despair of this book and Sovereign really wanted Sigil to “let him love her” in his own controlling and manipulative way!)
A lot is revealed in book two, and well, no one comes out looking stellar like the awesome super hero. How could it be though? Sigil is a psychopath and Sovereign and his brothers are on a human genocide mission. But what is amazing about this book is the writing and the character traits of everyone in the story. Addison Cain is an amazing writer! And if she can get a chicken like me to read a book that is fairly gruesome and raw, well... the writing is pretty amazing, awesome, and compelling!
And to leave you on this note...
I cannot help but love you. Now she understood why. Their obsession, their claims to adore her… none of it was real. Knowing that made her feel something… something she might almost call sad. Dr. Saniel’s safety measure had backfired. It had given a slave army a reason to rebel. And it had assured a half-mad, tormented little girl would never find peace.

So essentially Sigil is still conflicted about her situation. It is made worse by the fact that she feels manipulated and that her entire environment (planet) is designed with the sole purpose of manipulating her emotions to yield to Sovereign. And our girl Sigil is no dummy! She doesn’t want to trust anyone but she is in a world where she sees everyone as the enemy! This story is messed and I felt like I was constantly looking for a happy place! There was no happy place! 😳
(I will confess while reading this book I hummed DJ Snake & Justin Bieber’s Let Me Love You because that was my only source of levity through the darkness and despair of this book and Sovereign really wanted Sigil to “let him love her” in his own controlling and manipulative way!)
A lot is revealed in book two, and well, no one comes out looking stellar like the awesome super hero. How could it be though? Sigil is a psychopath and Sovereign and his brothers are on a human genocide mission. But what is amazing about this book is the writing and the character traits of everyone in the story. Addison Cain is an amazing writer! And if she can get a chicken like me to read a book that is fairly gruesome and raw, well... the writing is pretty amazing, awesome, and compelling!
And to leave you on this note...
I cannot help but love you. Now she understood why. Their obsession, their claims to adore her… none of it was real. Knowing that made her feel something… something she might almost call sad. Dr. Saniel’s safety measure had backfired. It had given a slave army a reason to rebel. And it had assured a half-mad, tormented little girl would never find peace.

Whew!!! Where do I start? This book is HOT!!!
If you are an avid reader, like myself, you are probably tired of the same stale sex scene after sex scene story lines with no plot. I usually know about a chapter into the book how it's likely to end. That is NOT the case with this author. Sigil and Sovereign make you love them, hate them and sometimes pity them. I never knew exactly where the story was headed but the anticipation left me worn out and sleepy the next day at work. And the sex scenes MY LORD!!!! You will not be disappointed with any book you read by this author. Start with part one titled Sigil and be prepared to sign over the next few hours of your life because you won't be able to put this book down.

I'm not particularly sure why a cannibalistic psychopath and her erotic adventures are so captivating but boy are they. Addison Cain has managed to make utterly inhuman villains, utterly human. Following "Sigil: Irdesi Empire Book One", "Soverign: Irdesi Empire Book Two" has managed to, somehow, surpass its prequel. I'm not surprised. One of Cain's strengths is her ability to show v tell in all of her writing. She doesn't have to tell you that our heroine is impulsive, psychotic, and broken. She shows you in every action that Sigil takes.
Why should you read this book?
This book at times utterly clenches your heart in agony for a woman who has endured monstrous torture but grimly and determinedly hangs onto survival.
I could totally see it. From another perspective each individual in this book is a villain. This is an extreme behind the scenes view of the overlords/world conquerers, that makes you forget that these people destroy worlds and subjugate free will all for the protection of their queen.
Fascinating, heartbreaking and erotic Cain yet again makes you realize that yeah, you CAN feel more empathy and pain for fictional characters.

Sovereign rules Sigil,and how! The second part of this dark story was one i’ve been searching for,desperately. And finding it on iTunes made me só happy! I finally had the chance to find out what happened to Sigil after she was caught.
When Sigil woke up after many years,she found herself in a new place,with Sovereign. And his Brothers. The only bright thing of the situation it seems,was that they brought the Tessan boy she saved,Jerla. However she tries to defy Sovereign,he doesn’t punish her. He does fill the needs her body has. But she still hates him. Karhl,the Lord Commander,is one of the few she allows near. The other Lord Commander,Tiburon,has his own agenda....All the Brothers want to be near her,even if she doesn’t trust any of them. Will Sovereign manage to convince her of their feelings? Will Sigil find her place,her home,on Irdisi?
This is a rough journey filled with pain,a lot of pain. But hope,too. And i know i want to hear more!

I love, love LOVE this series. I remember when I first started it on a free site, and when it was taken down for publication (at one of the post pivotal cliffhangers in the book I must include) I was devastated to find out what happened next.
I was not disappointed. I wasn't sure if I would be able to grow to love these crazy men that smother sigil to insanity, but I have. The plot twists and turns and leaves us with a bitter sweet to be continued, which surprised me because I remember Addison saying at one point that she was unsure if the story would continue after the second book.
I'm a big fan of Addison and all of her work, and even though I got this book free for review, just like the last one I am choosing to buy it anyway because it deserves the recognition. keep up the good work girl, I'm happy to see you succeeding as an author. I followed you as an amateur and I will continue to follow you as you grow in popularity.

If I could I would probably give this book a 3.5. I still enjoyed it like I did the first, as it continues to delve into the creative world of Irdesi. We get more hot men, and our heroine continues to be a badass. But sadly we also get repetition. Sigils continues to trust no one (and she's continuously proven correct that she shouldn't. ) there's also a lack on balance between the brothers swearing they adore her and then backstabbing her and keeping her ignorant of the truth. For three quarters of the book Sigil mopes, starts to conform, learns something she hates, snaps someone's neck, escapes and then mopes. It's like watching a washing machine go around in circles. And then finally when I thought we weren't going to go anywhere the author gives signs that we might be moving on from this part of the story. so I'm looking to book 3, when released, to show me a new characterization for everyone, to show some growth. I think the next book will either make it or break it.

Less chaotic than its predecessor, but twice as detached...
It was alright.
It's difficult to give something any more than 2.5 stars when it's read primarily out of boredom- and doesn't shake the feeling.
The setting is so nonsensical and badly conveyed that more often than not, you'll find yourself skimming, rather than immersed in its pages.
If you're looking for closure, you won't find it- but you won't be left feeling completely disappointed either. I'd recommend this to people who have read the previous installment, with some time to kill. It's more or less the rerun of sequels, not better than one before it, but not worse either.
That being said, theres an excerpt of the next Alpha book at the end- that makes it all worth it.

Less violent but still captivating
I was wondering after reading the first book how sigil’s life would turn out with these men. Having an ingrained hatred for almost all of them and then having to learn to care for them seemed almost impossible.
The few twists and turns the story took were interesting and I’m wondering why the ending is the way it is. Perhaps it had to happen that way for the third installment to make sense for character development.
Definitely less of the rape vibe and more of the dark romance aspect in this book.

Sovereign is the second novel in the Irdesi Empire series, and needless to say, I had a blast reading it.
To keep it simple and sweet: This book (and series in general) is not meant for the light-hearted. It includes orgies, fisting (non-explicit), double penetration, oral, anal, vaginal, biting, blood play...all that fun. For me, I have a pervy side so I definitely can say that this book was right up my alley.
For those who want to explore the wild, dark, dark side of love and erotica, Addison Cain clearly knows what she's doing, and she does it well.
Again, though, I will stress that this book is extremely twisted and utterly horrific at times. All in good ways though ;)
Sigil is a wonderful heroine, and although I often disagreed with her thought process and how she handled certain situations, her reasoning was sensible from her perspective. The only viable female of her species, she is seen as a breeder--the only breeder--and therefore her worth is through the roof. Programmed since literally she was a fetus, Sigil is the by-product of fear and pain. Having always known pain throughout her life, her only saving grace and light came in the light of an Axirlan named Que.
And this is where our story begins because Sigil must now deal with the repercussions of Que's death. We find out new characters, discover new plot lines, separate enemies from lovers from allies, which, at times, seem to just blur into one, and the ending is a fucking bombshell.

I still absolutely cannot stand Sovereign. He's disgusting and a r*pist. The constant body betrayal, the gaslighting that Sovereign does to keep her in line is gross.
Scene after scene of r*pe by Sovereign but nothing on the page of the quickly mentioned consensual interactions between Tiburon and Quinn/Sigil or Parnisu and Gethman and Sigil or Corths and Sigil. Those would have been interesting spicy scenes to see....and actually consensual and not coerced.
I'm also not sure why the twins storyline was handled the way that it was or why it was included at all. It just felt pointless, all of it....their reasoning made little sense to me and it was over so quickly. It was just odd.

Addison Cain is in a class of her own. She's the queen of dark romance, and I kind of feel like she writes books just for me. This book was a dream of great world building, forced seduction, politics, brutal viciousness and unapologetic darkness, with an intense love story between two monsters that holds the whole story together.
Addison Cain's romantic male leads are always flipping psychotic and sexy, but I didn't expect the female lead to be so gloriously dark and unhinged. Sigil has been a conditioned killer since she was a little girl, and she's so dangerous that she must be contained from tearing apart worlds by the most powerful beings in the Galaxy, the men of the Irdesi Empire.
Underneath her psychopathy is the mind of a broken child who watched her mother get slaughtered and lived in isolation, forcing her mind to degenerate and become savage. She brutally kills out of fear and rage, yet has a soft spot for children. She's a fantastic female lead.
Then there's the male lead, Sovereign who I just adore. He showed his true monstrous face in this book and I was so here for it. He's also a killer, unable to be human but able to pretend for the entire first book.
But once his civilized mask came off in this book, you can see that he's just as animalistic as Sigil, and because of this he's able to meet her as an equal and tame her out of control power because he tamed his own. He loves her more than his own life, and he loves her many children spread across their world, even as they poison the people that serve the Irdesi out of their own animal hate.
I love his intense devotion for Sigil, and how it has no boundaries or ability to hate her even as she behaves cruelly toward him. He's truly a monster, but he's a monster with bottomless love for his family and his brothers.
The addicting dynamic between these two is so incredibly compelling and enjoyable to read about. I love the characters, I love the court politics, I love the climax of this thrilling sci fi romance, but I'm here for Sovereign and Sigil's incredible love story.
This book was fantastic. I can't wait for the next book in the trilogy to come out in April.

Smoothing back the tangled black that hung over his eyes, Sovereign straightened to his full height. Even furious he was beautiful, flawless... no matter the corruption of blood or filth. For some reason, that frightened Sigil more.
Compared to the first book, this one was not as fast-paced and more spread out in what was happening. I didn't find is as interesting. I also didn't care for any particular character aside from Sigil - that is until Tiburon appeared. They make an amazing team, I would love to see more of them together!
Sovereign showed his true colours and. Oh. My. God.
Sigil had committed atrocities, murdered on a whim, wallowing in her madness when it descended. She had played with the bodies of the dead, eaten them, tossed limbs about and reveled in it. She had done those things because she was a monster. “You’re no different than me...”
Stepping down, heedless of mashing skulls or crunching bone, Sovereign closed the gap between them. “I am much worse.”
Yeah, this whole chapter was so good, Sovereign being dubbed demon and all that. He piqued my interest again (actually for the first time in book 2?), but then it kinda sucked when he went back to how he usually is with Sigil... kinda boring tbh.
Sigil also turned somewhat tame, especially at the end . I miss Quinn. :c

This book was fuc---g amazing! Book one already had me pulled into the story. The last line in Book one "Que is dead. You have no home." Really sets the tone for Book two. The reader gets to explore the Iredesi Empire. They seem to of created some sort of Feudal system. The top players ( Sovereign, Karhl) have managed to keep the wealth, knowledge, any type of real advancements for themselves. The conquered, turned kind of mindless drones live their lives in some sort of trance. The conquered say shit like "it's ok that we die because we need to die to better the empire." WTF! Then one lady was making bread by hand. I'm thinking where the hell is the Mrs. Baird's bakery? Where is the kitchen aid to mix all of that sh-t together? The people are still slaves who are content to be slaves! I'm thinking not me girl! Sigil has no choice but to get with the program. Her portions have run out. In book two I feel like she kind of explores the idea of cooperating with her captors. The reader finds that Sigils life is not going to be that easy and in truth it probably never will. Side note Sovereign and Karhl know Sigil loves sex but they don't know she needs naps? WTF! They might be advanced men but they are still men. There definitely needs to be at least 4 books in this series because I'm still not clear about Sigils handlers... are they Hitler's little cousins? Because that is what they sound like. Is Sigil just supposed to be a breeding machine? Definitely looking forward to more books. This author is so amazing!

The dark aspects of this story are no joke, if you're even a little squeamish this story is not for you.
Sigil is swept away from the planet she has destroyed in her unbalanced rage, only to awaken decades later to her grief and despair. There is nothing the Emperor, Sovereign, won't do for her to prove she is loved and adored by all the Brotherhood, but he keeps secrets he feels she is not ready to accept. His love is true but he hides so much behind a mask that he must wear for the good of the Empire.
The lies.
The truths.
The shocking reveals.
But I come away with a sense of urgency to know what the story has in store for us. There are still so many questions to be answered.
I'll be honest, I don't really like this female villain, she's programmed to be a ruthless warrior. She's too strong at times, others too weak, but it's the dark and depraved behaviors that I would never attribute to a female that put me a little off, I suppose. Gives me the shivers!
Anyway, the enemy has fled beyond the Empire's reach for now and Sovereign has proven once again his unwavering love as he acquiesces to Sigil's heart shattering wishes. I'm very anxious to see what happens next.

We continue after Book 1, just as Sigil awakens after 47 years of sleep. As she mourns a great loss, we learn about her new reality in the clutches of the brotherhood. We follow her to Irdesi Prime, the homeworld of the empire and on who’s moon Sigil and the brotherhood are born on. Sigil not only has to learn how to navigate in the empire but also how to handle her conflicted feeling and instincts to Sovereign and his brothers. It doesn’t help that they are trying to manipulate her so she will accept her role as the imperial consort and mother of the future children. They even went as far as obtaining the Tessan child she was trying to save on Pax. And trouble really start when the Soshiia shows up, a rebellious fraction of the converted humans, of which only Sigil can detect.
It was just as good and dark as the first version, and I have yet to be disappointed by Addison Cain. She writes in such an ensnaring way, that you can’t stop reading, even the horrifying cannibalistic scenes. As a warning the cannibalism is worse in this second installment, so if you have a weak stomach, don’t read.

Sheer perfection.
Sigil, having woken from her enforced nap, is quite a bit less overtly hostile than she was in the first book; here we see her relationship with Karhl develop, and new players such as Tiburon (my personal favourite) appear on the scene. Sovereign of course is ever present and ever dedicated to Sigil's every comfort. We follow her journey as she becomes acclimatised to being the Imperial Consort of the Irdesi Empire, and of course embarks on her primary function - providing a daughter.
I love, love, love the characters of Sovereign and Sigil, and how their personalities are portrayed. There's a line in here which goes He projected intense love; she swallowed it down to fill her abyss - their mutual addiction, a summation of the mutual obsession that's SO delicious to read about.
I'm conflicted on terming this a reverse harem, as such, because her connections with other men are a lot less limited than they are with her baby daddy (understandably). Doesn't at all detract from the fact that this is a blazing five-star read I look forward to rereading in the future.

We follow her journey as she becomes acclimatised to being the Imperial Consort of the Irdesi Empire, and of course embarks on her primary function - providing a daughter.
I love, love, love the characters of Sovereign and Sigil, and how their personalities are portrayed. There's a line in here which goes He projected intense love; she swallowed it down to fill her abyss - their mutual addiction, a summation of the mutual obsession that's SO delicious to read about.
I'm conflicted on terming this a reverse harem, as such, because her connections with other men are a lot less limited than they are with her baby daddy (understandably). Doesn't at all detract from the fact that this is a blazing five-star read I look forward to rereading in the future.

I received an ARC from the author for this wonderful book. I just love this unique, dark, erotic sci-fi story and how it's unfolding. I've read nothing like it before and am so glad I discovered Addison Cain in her pre publishing days. I just know everything she writes will be a dark naughty treat and this book was no exception. So full of intense characters and emotions, hot sexy moments and exciting action sequences. I love the kick arse female character Sigil, that Addison has brought to life and the intense, sex on a stick men that lust after her. Every girls dream! S##t yeah!
This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster, that's to be sure, but it's so worth the pain and the pleasure. Addison's style of writing is fantastic, so descriptive and concise, yet naturally flowing and easy to read, no going back and having re-read to understand the current location and what's happening. I love that. It shows this author has a serious gift.
So now I'm waiting avidly for the next instalment. I know it will be amazing. Like this book. 5 stars all the way.

I think I love and hate Mrs Cain. I love her because this book was amazing and I hate her because I started this book and could not stop reading until I finished it - at 4am! Needless to say I will be worthless today but it was totally worth it! This is the second book of this series and it does not disappoint. I struggled in the beginning with the pecking order of the Brothers (it could have also been my fatigue) but towards the end it all came together and made sense. I did not expect the ending and I am already impatient for the next one! Don't make me wait too long Addison!!

The second installment of Sigil was a breath of fresh air for me. In the midst of her incredible trials, Sigil does not let us down when it comes to protecting what she feels is the most precious to her. And her ability to exact her cold-blooded brand of revenge on her enemies suffers not one iota despite Sovereign's attempts to manipulate her to his own agenda. Many agendas are discovered in this book. The stage is set and I can't wait to see where Addison Cain takes us next!
