Liam Bailey is my sexiest dream and my worst nightmare, all rolled into one delicious, forbidden package.

I'm the girl with an iron-clad plan. Everything in my world is about succeeding, excelling, and making my large Italian family proud of me. That means graduating college with honors, landing the perfect job, and not letting anything--or anyone--get in my way.

But Liam is the guy who makes me want to break all my rules.

He's the embodiment of all my naughtiest fantasies, with his incredible body, his brooding eyes and his tempting smile.

Liam's also the sweet-talking, complicated son of a well-known politician, the big man on campus, the athlete, the rich guy who's never had to work for anything in his life.

When I don't fall into his lap like the other women do, I fully expect him to walk away. After all, why would a girl like me matter to someone like him?

But it turns out that Liam doesn't give up easily. He's not going to let our friends' opinions, his parents' disapproval, or my own walls get in the way of what he wants . . . which, apparently, is my heart.

Well, after all, rules were made to be broken.

I wanted to like this one, I really did. I really liked book 1. Problem was that the antagonist of book 1, whom I was set up to hate, is the hero in this one? Yeah...no amount of sob story and sad family life can make me feel any sort of sympathy...and so I ended up hating the heroine too b/c she was supposed to be the BFF of the girl this guy betrayed? Yeah...no. Sorry. Maybe if I hadn't read book 1 first it would have been great, and that's why the 2 stars instead of 1 or none...I do like Tawdra's writing...but I just couldn't ever get past the events of book 1 to like this one.

At not quite 200 pages, Tawdra Kandle's Just Desserts was a fun and quick read. The second book in a two book series, or duology, it completed the story of two major/minor characters in Best Served Cold.

In Best Served Cold, Julia's heart was broken when she was dumped in a very public way by her boyfriend, Liam. She turned to her best friend, Ava, to help her get sweet revenge on him. In Just Desserts, Ava and Liam are front and center as they begin a most unexpected friendship that begins to turn into more. If I'm being honest, it was a bit of a hard sell for me at first because I don't know many women who would entertain the idea of dating their best friend's ex, especially one who behaved like such a schmuck. But, Tawdra pulled it all together in a way that made sense. More than that, no one looked like a jerk and Liam was redeemed.

After Best Served Cold, I didn't think I would ever call Liam "likable." I was wrong and I'll gladly eat my words. There was A LOT more to him – and the situation – than met the eye. With Ava he was a different guy. One who I found to be quite charming and sweet. I liked Ava well enough in Best Served Cold, but found myself appreciating her much more in this book. I liked that she brought out a different side of Liam. She didn't want to like him, but their chemistry was undeniable.

After finishing this, I have to say, I need more duologies in my life. They're perfect for those times when you can't get the whole story – or both sides of it, anyhow – in one book, but don't necessarily need to stretch the story to three books. I'm glad Tawdra contacted me to see if I would be interested in reviewing this series. It was fun and sexy and I look forward to more stories like this from her in the future.

I read the first book in this series, and I honestly was intrigued to see the rest of the story in this book. When I began reading it, I wasn't certain that I wanted to read about a nice Liam. He was so nasty in the last book. I wanted to believe the worst about him. However, the author won me over. By the conclusion of the book, I kind of liked Liam, and Ava seemed like a good fit for him. While the story was a little bit too predictable at times, the author did add a few bits of spice along the way.

My criticisms only concern the profanity and intimate scenes. I am grateful that the intimacy was not completely detailed. The profanity was not as rampant as some books I have read, but I still could have done without it. Notwithstanding, this is a new adult book, so I will now allow this to affect the rating. I would give this a 4 or 4.5 for content and writing style. I would recommend that you read the "Best Served Cold" before this because you will comprehend the story far better.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

Book Two in the series follows some characters from book one. Though you don’t necessarily have to read book one first, it does help in overall character placement and development.

We met Ava as BFF to Julia in book one. I really liked her spunk and determination. I hoped she would get book two and she did. We also met Liam in book one, unfortunately he was the villain, persay, in that book so it might take some people a little longer to accept him as the hero in book two.

For me, I never really connected well with the character of Liam in book one, so the transition was fine for me. Other people might not like his redemption, for lack of a better word.

I’m a huge Tawdra fan, and while this book was written in the same younger style as book one, I was ok with it. It wouldn’t be my first go to when picking something to read, but it wasn’t so off putting that I couldn’t finish it. 4 stars for book two.

I do really like this author's writing style, she boldly takes a brave chance with this one. Ava really comes across as a nice and supportive character. Her actions puzzle me, she is very practical with her relationship justification but her forgiveness just comes too close to the end of her "best" friends relationship with the same guy. I probably should not have read book 1 and book 2 so close together, right now Liam's actions are still so raw and fresh. I didn't like Liam in the first book and I still don't like Liam, at all. If he had been paired up with anyone other than his ex's "best" friend then I may have warmed up to him a bit more. Just Desserts will take your emotions of a ride of a life time with all the up, downs, twist and turns. Ava and Liam's story is that of different sides of the same coin. Ave is strong, works hard, determined and knows what she wants. Liam plays the big man on campus, rich and son of a politician. The twist comes from the first book in the series, Ava is friends with Liam's ex, Julia.

Will Ava let her walls down to let Liam in? How will her friends and family feel? This story will keep you guessing with each turn of the page,

Ava is Julia’s best friend and is willing to help her get back at her ex boyfriend. What Ava doesn’t expect is to fall fast for Liam, but he’s the man that broker her best friends heart and he’s off limits. Liam is determined to date Ava and wants a chance regardless of what his family thinks but he’s not going to let anyone change his mind or get in the way. Will Ava cave and do the thing that is a no no? Take a best friends ex boyfriend?

This is the second book in the series and I started this book believing that Liam was a douche who deserved to get his just desserts. While what he did to Julia was discussing and I don't think his reason for behaving so badly truely excused him, he does seem to be a different person around Ava. He truely seems to love her and it is really nice to see him treat her with care. This is a story with lots of twists and sometimes people are not who you think they are and everyone deserves a second chance.

This book had me very conflicted. Ava is helping her best friend get her own back on Liam who had publicly humiliated her. In the process she starts to have feelings Liam herself.. This is a definite no no in the best friend code. I did enjoy the book but I'm not sure I can learn to like a Liam. I can't wait to see where this goes from here.

He is the type of man she has been warned about. She has plans to be the best she can to prove to her family she can and will do it. He has no need to work and takes what he wants when he wants. She refuses his offer to take her out. Will be take no for an answer? What if he will not? What will their families and friends say? See if she gives in

This is set with college students, so it wasn't going to be my thing. Even though the author did a fairly good job redeeming the hero, it took a lot for me to keep reading about him. I met the author at Coastal Magic, so I kept going. I would try something by her with older characters.

Another fun book featuring several young adults as they are finishing their college years and preparing for their life beyond that time. As surmised from what occurred in Book 1, there is plenty of drama as the lives of Ava and Liam take a very unexpected turn and the consequences could end a strong friendship and maybe a budding love in this anticipated second book to this series. I like how Ms. Kandle is always able to draw a reader into not only reading about what is happening but actually feeling it too. While it may not be necessary to read Book 1 first since there is enough backstory provided as to not confuse the reader, I do believe it will be more enjoyable if you do.

Liam has to let down his defenses and really work to prove to Ava that he loves her. Especially after breaking up with her best friend and room mate. Ava can’t fight her attraction to Liam for too long because it’s just too strong and he’s everything she needs. Fun read

Ava was helping Julia get revenge for what Liam did but then Julia moved on. Now Sparks fly between her and Liam whenever they cross paths and even though she tries to fight it she's attracted to her friend's ex. Liam has had feelings for Ava but he never acted on them because he wasn't free to do so not that he is he wants to show her that he isn't the man she thinks he is. Liam doesn't care that his father doesn't approve of Ava he knows that she is the one for him and that she makes him a better man. Can Ava and Liam make it to their happy ever after?

This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Ava and Liam’s story is filled with unexpected emotion and some heart wrenching moments. Ava is so sure Liam is not for her, but he’s determined to prove her wrong. Even when things seem to be going their way, something (or should I say “someone”) happens to shake Ava’s faith in their relationship.

It’s a roller coaster ride with plenty of ups and downs, which will keep you totally engaged from beginning to end. Ava and Liam may not seem to be a match, but there’s more to Liam then what he shows on the surface. Ava is eventually able to see behind his mask, so she lets down her guard and opens her heart. Their romance is filled with plenty of sweet, heartwarming moments, a few angsty moments and a bit of steamy passion, but it’s a story well worth reading. The best part is it’s not over yet. Stay tuned for the rest of their story in “I Choose You.”

Liam appears to be a changed man and he is on a mission to win Ava, whatever it takes. There will be some angst, drama, heat, chemistry, walls stormed and hearts won.

I was fascinated over how it would be possible for the author to redeem Liam after his particularly bad behavior in the previous book. Suffice it to say, I’m impressed. There’s a lot of depth here in both Liam and Ava as well as their budding relationship. I appreciated the way this story tackled so many complex family dynamics along with such sticky topics as rebuilding trust and forgiveness. I loved Ava’s drive and determination even though my heart broke for the reasons behind them. I also really enjoyed seeing a humbler Liam and getting to know the man behind the playboy mask. I’m very interested in seeing what the author is going to give us next.

This is book two in the Perfect Dish Romance series. We meet Ava in book one as Julia recruits her best friend to help her seek her revenge on Liam. Things become a little twisted and complicated when Ava finds herself attracted to Liam. Complications continue to arise when those feelings of attraction are returned by Liam. It was interesting to read about characters and the twists and turns that await them as fate seems to be stepping in with a few challenges. Enjoy!

I gave this book 4.5 stars.

I went through a gamut of emotions toward the characters while reading this book. I found the situation to be somewhat familiar, as I remember dealing with such men and craziness in the good ole college days. That bad boy who broke your best friend's heart, yet was so appealing to you...

I didn't like Liam for a long time. He did Julia wrong in the first book, 'Best Served Cold.' All of the stories about him being a player made me wary of him. Again, I have seen men like this before. Plus, his persistence, while some may find endearing, could also be annoying. I think he knows what he is doing, but his past makes it seem more trustworthy. Eventually, though, I did come around to him.

I really liked Ava. She is strong and determined. Her back and forth regarding her feelings for Liam made me want to scream. In the book world, it is so much easier to quickly make up your mind. But the vacillating felt so much more realistic than other books. The heart wants what it wants and can often be in direct conflict with your head. One may rule over the other at any given moment in any given situation. Perhaps it made me crazy because I saw so much of myself in the situation?

That doesn't mean that it making me crazy was a bad thing. In fact, that was one of the "realest" books I have read in a long time. The situation is familiar. The characters are familiar. Ava telling her side of the story in first person only helped to draw me even more into the story, placing me directly in her shoes. Her thoughts were my thoughts. Her actions were my actions. I got it.

'Just Desserts' is a great compliment to whatever you are doing to relax. This is probably the first one of Tawdra Kandle's books that I haven't read while enjoying margaritas, but it was still a fun read. It helps to have read 'Best Served Cold,' but it isn't totally necessary before enjoying this tasty treat. If you read this one first, you will definitely want to read the first one to figure out what had gone so wrong!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

If you’re looking for a fun, romantic read that sizzles off the page, look no further! This follow-up to the wonderfully written Best Served Cold is so much more than a companion piece. The story shows Ava’s perspective to the Jules/Liam debacle and just continues to build from there. This author never ceases to amaze me with her ability to turn the “bad guy” into someone I find myself rooting for.

In Best Served Cold, we meet Liam through the eyes of Jules. He broke up with her in the worst possible way, which resulted in her and her roommate, Ava, hatching a plan to get the ultimate revenge. During the execution of this plan, Ava ends up becoming the focus of Liam and this story just grows from there. So, you’re probably in the same boat I was in if you’ve already met Liam – how on earth could I possible want Ava and Liam to be the focus of a romance book? He really messed with Jules and we hate him, right? Well, somehow, a little bit at a time, Liam starts to grow from the one dimensional “bad guy” into a really misunderstood character. I don’t know how it happens, or when it happens, but suddenly I found myself yelling at Ava for being so suspicious or hesitant. Amazing, but totally true. This author works some magic in the pages of this book that I can’t even begin to comprehend.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the sizzling chemistry in this book. Liam and Ava light up the pages, even when she’s fighting her attraction to him with all she’s got. There’s a good balance between sexy times and romance that will keep readers of all types addicted. The amount of heart and “real life” in these stories hooked me from the first page. These books are really fun, quick, and surprising reads that have converted an exclusively paranormal romance reader into one that can take a chance on romance with absolutely no paranormal elements in it. Take a chance on this series and you won’t be disappointed!

I so wanted to be Ava in Just Desserts. I am not kidding you – if I wanted to be any character in a book I have read this summer, besides a kick-ass heroine, it was Ava in this book, with Liam. Oh, I wouldn’t have been as hard to get; but I would have definitely been every minute of this young, smart, beautiful hot Italian co-main character. Tawdra Kandle really wrote her so well that I could envision her role being played out on the big screen. I thought of her ala The Carrie Diaries, but that wasn’t really sufficient. That only happened because of Liam – lythe, college track star, confused parental unit, playboy past. But he is oh so much more than that FOR Ava.

There’s a great juxtaposition here that makes every person who is a romantic swoon. There is that key element in a great romance that makes the people in it their very best person only for each other. They may have been the worst person in the world with every other person they ever dated, but this person – their true soul mate – makes them want to move the earth, the moon, and the stars, just to be their best – for them alone. Come on in, Frank Sinatra. Sing it, man!

There’s another element to this love story that makes it a more than typical as well. The usual jealousy among friends works out in a great new twist. I won’t tell you what it is, but it was fresh and appreciated. Everything doesn’t have to end in the same old pattern, and Kandle is not a cookie cutter writer. I like that.

I guess here is where I make mention of the book prior to Just Desserts, Best Served Cold, because Liam and Ava are not new to Kandle readers. All I will say about it is that Kandle redeemed a character who seemed unsolvable and made him hot as fire.

This is good writing, good storytelling and good hot relations all wrapped up under an awesome cover! It does not disappoint. Pinky promise.

I received this book free of charge. The review is my own opinion, 100%.

I'm not the biggest fan of the contemporary genre. There I said it. I'd much prefer my fantasy with a high dose of sexy, but I picked up Just Desserts because I've read all of Tawdra Kandle's other series, and she hasn't failed me yet. She still hasn't let me down. Although this is actually the second book, but it is a stand alone, so you can start here or with Best Served Cold.

I fell in love with Ava despite being able to relate more to Liam with his family. You'll have to read to see what that fiasco is all about. Anywho I also love that the book is set in NJ. I've said this recently in another review, but if you set a book in NJ, I will read it. I grew up there and if it's set in South or Central Jersey, all the better. The second reason I fell in love with Ava was the passion she had for both her future and for her roots. There is something special about Italian families, and while I may not be Italian, I have a surrogate Italian family that still lives in NJ. The realism there was hit right on the head down to how they react and talk.

Liam ... ah ... I didn't know what to think of him. As you work through the back story though, you start to wonder, "Is this man redeemable." I won't answer that for you, but let's just say it had me guessing. Tawdra is one of the few who accomplishes that, and to be honest, it is the predictability of most contemporary romance that leaves me with a bad taste for the genre. AKA the stakes are rarely high enough for me, or the characters are so unrealistic, but Tawdra has a knack for crafting less than perfect but likeable characters and putting them in heart wrenching or sticky situations.

NA romance lovers will absolutely love this quick and steamy read.

Just Desserts is the second book in the Best Served Cold series. After finishing Best Served Cold, I did not have any warm, fuzzy feelings for Liam. He made me so mad in the first book, that I couldn't see how he could be a good guy or potential love interest for Ava. And then there was Ava, breaking the girl code! Not cool, but I read on to see how all this would play out.

At first, I saw the same old Liam, but I was wrong! There was so much more to him than his jerk ways; he fully redeemed himself in Just Desserts. I liked his determination and persistence in showing Ava he'd changed and trying to get her to give him a chance.

And Ava, well, it turns out, I just adored her. I felt her pain of wanting something that she wasn't quite sure was right for her, that it was wrong, but wanting nonetheless. She's trying to stay focused on her goals in life, her priorities, but still lonely, wishing deep down, for love, passion, romance...as evident in her adoration for Frank Sinatra. Huge brownie points to Liam for remembering that adoration and setting up a special surprise for her. Swoon.

I also liked getting a glimpse of Ava's big Italian family. There was such love between all of them, immediate and extended; the scenes with them made me smile.

I like when characters are so well developed that I can relate to them, feel the emotions they're feeling and fall in love with who they are.

And I did, with Ava and Liam.

A sweet, gooey, and sexy story!

There are sweet romantic stories that you just can’t help, but to fall in love. Even if the hero it’s formerly presented as a d*ck , you find that you really can’t hate him. Because you begin to see that boy with different eyes, a different heart, and that’s what happened to me by reading Just Desserts by Tawdra Kandle. I fell in love with this story and connected with the characters so much, especially the heroin Ava. I saw with her eyes and felted her emotions, as well the confusion in having more than friendship with a boy that in girl-code he was prohibit or off limits. And the author did such a great job making two people oblivious to their emotion fell slowly and deeply in love with each other. It felt so real and so right that you would want to keep this story close to your heart forever. I know; I will.

Overall, the story is a must read and reading it you will first hand experiment the meaning of redemption and the courage it takes to open up to another person. To enjoy life, and be daring to grasp and not let go of heartwarming, funny, sexy, unconditional, true love.

I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Ava thought she had her life all figured out. To study hard, no partying, heavy drinking, or boys. She needed to keep her grades up and stick to her path in order to be successful. At least, that was the plan until Liam walked into her life.

Julia is Ava's best friend and college roommate. Julie was harshly dumped by her then boyfriend Liam. Julia, Ava and their friend Gift, had a plan to make Liam jealous and want Julia back. Yeah that worked really well...not!

Liam has always been attracted to Ava, but kept his distance even after he and Julia parted ways. That is, until a visit to Ava's dorm to tell her about the gossip regarding Julia. An accidental kiss starts an attraction to her best friend's ex she cannot deny. Who can? I mean he's sexy, smart, funny, sexy, athletic, and did I mention sexy?

Just Desserts is an awesome New Adult Romance. The characters are so easy to identify with; from living you life to your parents' expectations to having a broken heart. You can completely understand Ava's hesitation in following her heart and not only breaking the girl code but also detouring from her path. I thought it was so beautiful that Liam waited patiently for Ava. This is a fantastic story I'm sure will touch your heart.
