Rose and Bellamy are so awesome together. Her snarkiness and his naivety, it makes for such an amazing read. But there's so much more to this story than them, Blythe is the best! This book made me laugh, cry and covered me in goosebumps at the end - what more could you want!?

A beautifully written contemporary paranormal read depicting a blossoming love between a grim reaper and the daughter of the woman he's destined to reap. Candace Osmond has a really lovely writing style that resonates in each one of her books. It makes me think of gothic romance and the kind of love that will last a lifetime. I think Blythe was my favourite POV character, even if she isn't part of the romance pairing, and Bellamy was one of my favourite kinds of heroes -- the sweet guys who are secretly super powerful. (aka don't push them) If you're in the mood for something a little different, I'd recommend grabbing Silently into the Night.

Oh, and don't forget the tissues. You'll need them.

4.5 stars. I was devastated by the end of this book. I haven't been emotionally wrecked by a book in quite some time. Blythe 💔 (IYKYK). I was crying to myself toward the end of this book with a plot twist I did not see coming. The book had me intrigued from the get-go, but I was getting a little frustrated at the constant tension between Rose, Blythe and Bellamy at keeping Rose in the dark about their shared secret to keep Blythe alive longer. It went beyond a little suspense and was become taxing, lol. Aside from that, I enjoyed the read.
I read it all in one sitting, as I had to get to the end,to get the answers to the secrets in the story.
Bonus points that this is a Canadian author (she lives in NewFoundland). This story is set in Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is where I have lived for the majority of my life. I could actually picture a few of the scenes vividly. That was part of the reason I chose to read this book, as well as the beautiful art of the limited edition print I bought. That and the story has an interesting premise.

Rose and Bellamy’s love story didn’t make sense to me. They fell in love way too fast. They didn’t even know anything about each other. The chapters were also so long that I found myself getting bored and I found that the things that weren’t as relevant to the story when into to much detail. I will say that the story of Hank and Blythe was so beautiful and I really enjoyed her writing style. Those two things definitely saved this book for me.

Perhaps living in Nova Scotia for the last 13 years had my expectations high on this one, who knows?

A few little things were just off and didn't fit in with the actual place.

The story was a good idea but I didn't really connect with it, nor with the over-explained dynamics of the relationships between the characters.

Candace Osmond is a newer author to me and I was excited to read this book after reading the synopsis.

I loved Rose and Bellamy together and I could not get enough of the story!

I got the signed special edition version which is absolutely beautiful. But a lot of my positives stop there. As much as this was a very short and easy read, it just didn’t do it for me. The story is heavily based off of the Brad Pitt movie, Meet Joe Black. And I loved that movie. Unfortunately, for this book though, it wasn’t as good. Rose was not the kind of character I could root for and, as for Bellamy, I had a lot of questions. I know Osmond tried to blend this story with a Canadian flare (as this supposedly takes place in Halifax-even though we only finally get that revelation in the last chapters) but why did he have a Texan accent? Why was that such a detail? Is it because Bratt Pitt had that twang in the movie? But in this book, Death took hold of a dead man’s body that was local. From NS. And if Death was a real human at some point 300yrs ago, why is his past about Britain and the British Navy? I think this was more fanfic than anything else. lol! 😆 either way, still a fast read that didn’t necessarily bore me so I’ll give it a 2.5

I'm never quite sure if I'm going to like a Grim Reaper romance, but I decided to take a chance on this one due to loving another book by this author. I'm glad I did as this story was completely unique to others I've read in the past. I won't tell how as it would ruin the surprise in the book, but it was unexpected while making perfect sense. If you're looking for a different kind of paranormal/fantasy romance, I would recommend checking this one out.

In comes Blythe's daughter Rose, a feisty independent woman who is immediately wary of Bellamy. But what happens when suspicion turns to attraction?

A delightful romance filled with many twists and revelations. The storyline is unique and wonderfully written.

The characters playing off each other very well. Bellamy's enchantment with the modern world, after his rough past is adorable. I loved watching him and Rose slowly fall.for each other. The reunion at the end was a great finishing touch!

All in all a great book! It was hard for me to put it down. Highly recommended!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Such a brilliant idea and so refreshing!

Rose is a strong, independent, and stubborn woman whose mother is dying. When Rose goes home to see her mother and essentially say goodbye, there is a strange man there. Rose can't seem to figure him out or why he is there; but she also can't seem to stay away him either.

Another great twisted story by Candace Osmond and I love it!

Oh sweet death

I’m a big fan of any iteration of a psycho pomp. This sweet story was on-brand for the author with just a hint of time flux and a love that conquers all. The right amount of snark and a sense of urgency added to the sweet thrill of this read.
