I rather enjoyed the quirky characters the book brought to life, however, I have given this novel a mediocre score of three for poor editing. Far too many spelling errors for this former Eng!ish teacher. C-

This 14 book series was heartfelt and meaningful with of course that amateur sleuth twist. Sammy Baker just recently divorced and left her husband of 10 years and was looking for a new place to start. She went back home to Sunny Cove. The small town had everyone she remembered plus some new faces. She moved back home to work at the restaurant Like Grandmas. She is a quick learner and immediately impresses the owner with her baking skills. And if that’s not enough to convince Sammy of her great bakes then the fact that the town locals keeping coming back for more should be. As with most small towns everyone talks and secrets don’t stay hidden for long. Thanks to the locals love of gossip, Sammy finds herself in odd places figuring out just what happened in these crimes. Join Sammy in her adventure to start a new and become a baker legend in Sunny Cove. I recommend this series for bakers and mystery lovers alike. Sometimes the long twists and turns of mystery novels are great. But short sweet ones are perfect to renew the satisfaction of catching the criminal. The bonus book was amazing too!! That book felt akin to an Agatha Christie Mystery!! Loved it!
I enjoyed the book until I got to this part "Mr. Montgomery might have lied, but his intentions were still good. It wouldn’t have really hurt anyone if the truth about his time 'on the street' had never come to light, but it was best that it had." I know that everyone has their own values, but for those who share mine, I thought I would post this warning. I am not saying that I would never read a book where people lie. Some people lie, it's a part of life. What I object to, is the main character having a casual, accepting attitude about it. I know she said that it was best that the truth had come to light, which of course I agree with, but she also said that, "It wouldn’t have really hurt anyone if the truth ... had never come to light." First of all, how could the character know that no one would ever have been hurt by this untruth? Secondly it seems obvious that Mr. Montgomery would now be known as someone whose word could not be trusted and that could not be good for him. With the plethora of books available, it seems to me that it would be best for me to not fill my mind with examples of lying being accepted as OK.

I loved these characters and the goodness in their hearts. I’m not one to seek out a Christian series but I wasn’t beat over the head with it. I am a firm believer in the golden rule even if I am an atheist. I have worked with the homeless in my town so that hit home for me. Sammy was a delight to get to know. The entire series was super cute and each story is pretty short. Anyone wanting clean quick reads with characters who feel like family and friends will enjoy this. Narration by Joanna Roddy was spectacular. She does amazing voices.

This is a fantastic Boxset. Sammy is an amazing character, independent, strong, and smart. There is a lot going on in the Sunny Cove small town! The stories are short, clean, funny, entertaining, and easy to listen to. Sheriff Jones is handsome. The cast of supporting characters is impressive. Joanna Roddy did an excellent job with the narration. All characters were easy to distinguish. I enjoyed it. If you like cozy mysteries, this Series is definitely for you! Well, I almost stopped reading at a certain "no place for a woman" spot, but decided to continue since it was otherwise well written. It was only a little preachy other than the women's place bs, and the stories were solid. Lots of their/there and its/it's errors that seem to permeate current day books. The addition of the extra book at the end was fun, and I actually liked that better than the rest.
There are twelve stories about Sammy and the Just Like Grandma's cafe. Each one has a crime in it that is solved in each book. Fun to read. The thirteenth story is about an old lady and her colleague who are setting sail on a ship to an island in the Indian Ocean to cater a wedding. On ship board there is a murder that the two detectives -caterers must solve on shipboard. Good story.
Those of us who have been divorced find we are always trying to forget our pasts. Sometimes it works most time not. When she gets to her hometown after many years and a fresh divorce she not sire how her life will go. She is a curious person though so when she is accused of poisoning the sheriff she has to find out what really happened. This series is great. Read them all.
I listened to this whole series on Audible, and it was a lovely light escape while I was doing other things like flying, driving, and exercising. I loved having such a long series to keep coming back to, and I loved that there was no ridiculous relationship drama and especially that there were mentions of faith and God sprinkled throughout in natural ways. I'm going to miss my visits to Sunny Cove and wish the series wasn't over!
As promised, the books are a pleasure to read. There is no off color language, and no gory scenes. There are inspirational notes throughout the books. Recommended reading for Christians and people who would rather not be exposed to tough language.
Five stars for Baker's Dozen Cozy Mystery Box set Booxs 1-13.
This series is well written and has a nice flow throughout. The characters are well developed and interesting. The ending is a bit of a disappointment, I wanted to see a love story developed between Sammy Baker and Alfey Jones. Perhaps in another book?
A group of short stories. Each book is approximately 2hrs long. Christian cozy mysteries. Fun, light reading. Stories lines are connected and flow into the next book. I’m not a foodie, and don’t normally enjoy books that deal with a lot of food ideas/recipes, etc. But I enjoy this author, and I enjoyed this book.
This book was pure reading pleasure. It was fun reading Sammy Baker's interaction with her Sunny Cove friends and co-workers. An excellent baker and amateur sleuth; clean romance and a delight to read.
I loved this new collection with plenty of suspense ,twists and turns. The different storylines and characters added to my enjoyment. I recommend this cozy mystery collection for good summer reading.
Who would think their local restaurant baker could be such a detective. But time after time she solves the crime. Easy fast reads for those rainy days.
Stories are sweet, and clean. No foul language or violence. There are frequent typos and characters faith life is an occasional mention, and it is very sad that anyone thinks that's all being a Christian means.
This series sparked my love for reading again!! I wasn’t expecting that at all but it’s so fun, light hearted and enjoyable to submerge yourself into the life and times of Sammy Baker and all the residents in Sunny Cove. Fingers crossed for another addition to the series in the future!
This was a wonderful set of books. I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. I will look for more books like them. I recommend the whole bunch of them. Great read!
Characters develop well, scenes flow together, timelines are consistent Cute topics and not totally predictable outcomes Love the cleans nature and subtle Christianity - and not a lot of romance
The best and most enjoyable mysteries I have read in a very long time. These are the best ! I will recommend them to all my family and friends. Thank you !😀
Good clean mysteries. One mention of alcohol. One mention of the Holy Ghost. Church, praying, and seeking God's will are included. How refreshing. I want to read more by this author.
Donna Doyle did it again. Her characters come alive and are a fun read always with a plot of mystic. They are short enough to read and finish in doable time.
