The Hardest Play

Rate this book
It’s easy to convince the world that you have it all.
I was Quinn Miller: record breaking running back, professional football’s favorite rags-to-riches story, all-around good guy.
What’s not so easy? Repairing your reputation after mistakes both on and off the field leave you labeled as a disgrace to the league.
With only one team willing to give me a chance, I had no time for a relationship.
But, after one night with Georgia Reed, the hopeless romantic with fiery red hair and an attitude to match, I was hooked.
With Georgia cheering me on, it didn’t feel like the world was against me anymore.
That was, until her father stepped into the locker room as my new head coach.
Finding the woman of my dreams was the easy part; it was keeping her that would be the hardest play of all.

I’ve read all books in this series so far and after each one I’ve been hoping that the next would be better. They weren’t.

I like the way this author writes and how she develops her characters which is why I keep reading. But she never really hit the mark with any of her books. It’s like every element for success is there and it should be easy to take the story to new levels but instead everything just plateaued out.

So far this book has been the worst of the lot. I think the first was the best because in its second half it had some really sad moments that tugged at heartstrings.

I think after this I’m gonna stop picking up this author. Reading 4 of her books is enough effort on my part.
Like I said, the writing is good-ish and it suits my preference but something is always missing.

Georgia and Quinn’s paths crossed a year ago at a mutual friend's party, she captured his attention straight away and they spent the rest of the evening talking. Twelve months later on a night out with friends at a bar in Atlanta, where he now lives, he sees her again. She is just as gorgeous as he remembers and they fall into easy conversation once again.

Georgia grew up with brothers and is used to not being shy in coming forward. She pretty much has no filter when it comes to saying what she thinks and Quinn finds it refreshing and sexy. There is no denying that the attraction they both felt 12 months ago is still there and maybe this is the silver lining to Quinn’s recent trade to the Falcons.

Georgia is happy to have bumped into Quinn again, she instantly ups her flirtation which leaves him wondering if she is just kidding around or seriously into him. Turns out she is into him and really wants him in her :) The connection between them is undeniable and things begin to happen fast. Georgia thinks it’s a great idea to take him along to her weekly family dinner, I guess announcing her new relationship. However, the rain soon falls on her parade when her dad announces his new job is as head coach to the Falcons.

Quinn feels like every time he takes two steps forward he has to take one backwards. This has been the theme of his life the last few years. He has things going on in his family that has affected his ability to live up to his expectations in the teams he has played for, hence the reason for being traded once again. He is reluctant to let anyone else into his bubble but he could never have anticipated the big sharp needle that is Georgia.

Georgia somehow manages to penetrate Quinn’s world in every way and he feels this immense sense of relief to share the burden of what he deals with on a daily basis. It’s been so long since he felt like he had someone on his side and it’s not only Georgia but her entire family. She is helping him see things in a different way and giving him the strength & courage to make the hardest play that will completely change his future.

‘My cup is overflowing, Quinn. I don’t need you to pour anything into me, nothing more than you already have. I just need you to let me help fill you back up.’

I really loved Quinn and Georgia’s story. If anyone deserves good in their life it’s Quinn and I loved how perfect they were for each other. This is a stand alone story but is interconnected by other characters from the ‘Hardest’ books series written by this author so you will get an insight into their lives now too.

I'm in the middle of another book so just a quickie review.

H/h met a year previously but nothing happened
The h's dating history really turned me off, you CAN be a romantic and want your own prince charming without thinking every frog you meet is him in disguise! Ugh she seemed just desperate to get to her HEA
The h did like 90% of the chasing, not because he didn't want her really but he had a lot going on
The H was ok, not as Alpha as I'd have liked but a great brother
When they got together it went much better, but I'm sorry to say I just wanted it to be over

The H wasn't a manwhore
h had been in a few relationships
No cheating
Drug abuse by secondary character

I'm not sure the other 2 friends will get books but at the end of this some years later and they're still manwhoring.....some people are just meant to stay single.

4 stars!

This is the third book in The Hardest Series about a group of college football buddies who are all grown up and playing in the NFL, finding their HEAs. Each of the books read as standalones, but as the characters are interconnected, I would recommend reading them in order (plus, it makes the cameos just that much more awesome!).

Quinn Miller is a quieter member of the group. After a tragic upbringing, he has been the sole carer for his younger sister, Jamie, and though he showed great promise early in his career, his personal life has impacted his game and he has been dumped by his team and traded to Atlanta. It’s not a great move for him, and he’s struggling to fit in with his new team, but he is determined to concentrate on his game, turn his reputation around, and get back to being his best.

Georgia Reed is a bold, intelligent and passionate woman who met Quinn a few years earlier at a friend’s Christmas party (in a delightful twist, she’s also the best friend of Piper, and sister of Lawson from When You Became Mine – and they both appear, so beware spoilers for that book). Their last meeting was brief but memorable, and when they run into each other again, Georgia is like a hurricane, bursting in to Quinn’s life.

There is flirting, there is banter, there is absolutely no game playing, and there is chemistry galore. The attraction is evident from the very beginning, and without any messing about, they throw themselves into a sweet, fun and sexy romance. It was gorgeous to watch, and I loved how no-nonsense and upfront they are with each other. It’s definitely refreshing.

“You blew into my life and I had to grab on for dear life, but now? I’m not sure that I can let you go.”

Their first hurdle comes along when they discover that Georgia’s father has just been appointed as the head coach to Quinn’s team… awkward! And then Quinn’s personal drama resurfaces, throwing his new life into chaos, and leaving him floundering. It’s a heartbreaking situation, and Quinn and Georgia definitely have a lot to wade through. They are both so heavily impacted by it all, and my heart broke for both of them. Quinn has been through hell, and watching him try to deal with everything is so sad, I just wanted to hug him so hard. But Georgia absolutely shines as his rock who is determined to stand by her man’s side and support him through the darkness. It’s a great dynamic, and it’s both devastating and heartwarming as we watch them go through it all.

Their drama only seems to strengthen their relationship, and I loved seeing them stand strong together. And the swoon! OMG, the swoon. Quinn melted me over and over. He’s such a kind-hearted romantic, and I fell for him so hard. And Georgia was smart enough to recognise that and grab hold with both hands, and I loved that!

Quinn’s football buddies and Georgia’s family are a big part of the book, and they bring a lot to the story. I loved seeing them all together, they brought a lot of laughs and a lot of heart. And the epilogue features all the boys together (from each of their POVs), and was just gorgeous!

I loved this book. It’s a sweet and easy read with a lot of depth, and I fell in love with these characters and their story. It reads like the end of the series, but there are still two friends left to have their stories told – both of them are fairly wild though, so I’m not sure whether they’re ready to settle down, we’ll see.

4 stars.

Overall Grade: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Warning: This is an ode to A.S. Teague, so read carefully. The feelings are strong here.

I’m going to share a personal value with you about me related to romance blogging and a value related to my teaching of writing. One of the best moments of romance blogging isn’t reading books and reviewing them. That can be an onerous task: finding the words to convey your thoughts and feelings about a book that helps other people decide to read it AND honors the writer’s storytelling is difficult. Some people don’t care about the words they splay on the page about a writer’s baby (which is a travesty). Instead, one of my favorite moments as a blogger is finding a new to me author and falling in love with their ability to create fiction that grabs my heart and soul. I will promote, review, and work hard to push their work out to the masses, even though my own following isn’t large. But I’ll work it for them.

In terms of teaching writing, my favorite moments don’t revolve around incredible pieces of writing. Instead, the best moments of my teaching career have centered around moments when the growth of a writer is apparent to me and to the writer. It’s a moment when you recall their first essay and read their current one, and they’ve found their voice and owned it.

Why am I sharing these thoughts in the space of a book review? Because A.S Teague has illustrated both of these ideas with her newest book, The Hardest Play, and it feels like pride (not in any condescending way) and peace in my soul. You might be saying, “Professor A, why do you care so much?” Quite simply, writing always comes from the soul of a writer. When our favorite authors bleed words onto the page for their readers to enjoy, and they do it brilliantly as A.S. Teague has done with this book, I want to shout for them, celebrate them, and encourage them to keep doing it because I want more of it. And boy, does The Hardest Play make me want more of Teague’s storytelling.

I found Teague with the first book of her Hardest series, The Hardest Route. Here’s the thing: I thought it was good, but in my review for that book, I noted that she had incorporated too many plot points so it muddled Griff and Brooke’s connection. It was still a good story, but it lacked “the thing” that tells my gut the book is great. Still, I knew that I wanted to read the other books in the series because there was something in THR that invested me. Then, Teague published Aidan and Mel’s story in The Hardest Hit, and she broke my heart and mended it over and over again in that story. The issues that I thought plagued her first book were not present in THH. Instead, my admiration for her grew because her storytelling was impeccable (by my estimation) as she crafted Aidan’s anguish and Mel’s inextinguishable strength. The Hardest Hit quickly became my favorite of her series (and one of my favorite sports romances), and I didn’t think The Hardest Play would overcome it. Boy, was I wrong.

The Hardest Play offers the story of Quinn, one of the more serious friends of Griff and Aidan and their crew. Griff and Aidan count on him to be serious and thoughtful in his assessment of their lives. In this book, Quinn has been traded to Atlanta after a disappointing season and a string of personal mishaps. Once there, he runs into Georgia, the sister of Aidan’s orthopedic surgeon, who we meet in The Hardest Hit. In that story, sparks fly between Quinn and Georgia, and the same happens again in The Hardest Play. Quinn is enamored with Georgia from their first meeting, and they quickly entangle themselves in each other’s lives. However, Quinn has a secret that threatens to derail their journey. In order to handle the ramifications of that secret, Quinn will have to trust Georgia with his truth, something he only does with his friends. Will Quinn and Georgia make it to the endzone, or will their romantic journey end in a punt at the 3rd down, missing the endzone by a few feet?

Why is The Hardest Play my new favorite A.S. Teague book of this series? Oh, there are so many reasons.

1) Quinn. Quinn Miller is a dream hero. A DREAM HERO. I will not divulge his secrets in this review because it will ruin the story. Instead, you need to know that while Quinn is formidable in his persona, he has an intuition in his character that allows him to anticipate Georgia and her needs, both physically and emotionally. Undermining Quinn’s formidable exterior with the sensitivity of his internal values reads like cat-nip for romance readers (at least for this romance reader). The only moments where he sabotages their romantic journey exist because Quinn protects above anything else. In revealing his truth, he worries about the effect of it on Georgia. He would rather end their burgeoning relationship than hurt her. And this theme runs deeply through his characterization. Quinn has a seriousness and depth that Griff and Aidan don’t have. Griff comes closest to it, but Quinn’s empathic and compassionate nature transcends Teague’s other heroes. I fell in love with Quinn from the very beginning. He’s protective, insightful, and steady.

2)Georgia. Because Teague constructs Quinn as self-sacrificing, she must have a heroine who is stubborn and fiery to protect her hero. Georgia is strong and tenacious, and this allows her to break through Quinn’s walls to the depths of his heart and soul. These two are fated for each other. Once Georgia learns Quinn’s truth, she becomes as protective as Quinn, and their connection becomes elevated. I am so thankful that Teague uses other aspects of the story to complicate Georgia and Quinn’s romance. Once these two commit to each other, they remain there. That creates this emotional impact that feels safe for the reader and the story’s characters.

3)The story. There is a depth to this story that deals with a difficult real-life problem. Again, I won’t divulge because I think it would threaten the power of the story. Readers should read the book, knowing that The Hardest Play’s story, in my opinion, is the heaviest of the three books. It’s the gravity, though, that I fell in love with. The emotional gravitas of this book will slay you, but Teague does this, not through issues between Georgia and Quinn, she achieves this with the secrets of the story. That is the driving force of this book, and Teague’s topic is a worthy one.

4)The epilogue. Oh my goodness. I’ve felt this feeling only a few times when reading romance. It’s a feeling of nostalgia, like saying good-bye to old friends and knowing you can see them again, but it will never quite be the same. Teague’s epilogue in The Hardest Play creates that feeling and leaves you with a sigh in your heart. There is a part of me that hopes this story is the last one of the Hardest series even though we have never explored Shane and Trav because it’s such an emotional powerhouse of a book that it feels right to move on. Yet, the feeling created in this epilogue makes my heart want more of the same. I’m both ready to go and hating to leave this crew of some of my favorite characters.

Now, that I’ve waxed poetic on my love for A.S. Teague, ultimately, why should you read her newest book? Simply put, The Hardest Play is a story of allowing love to heal and support us. This truth may seem simple, but, especially in a world right now that feels so singular and isolated, a reminder that love can connect us, heal us, and uplift us feels necessary and essential.

4.5 Stars!

My first A.S. Teague book and what a one to start. The Hardest Play was more than a romance story, it was a heart wrenching, beautiful book which I read in one sitting, I was that absorbed into Quinn and Georgia’s story.

Quinn, star football player – with a rags to riches story – is having a rough couple of seasons and has been traded to Atlanta, essentially on his final warning. Moving to a new city with his younger sister Jamie, on their first night they run into Georgia Reed, a girl he met at a party months ago, but they had an instant attraction. After some flirting, Georgia agrees to show Quinn around the city and from there their relationship blossoms. Quinn is caring and attentive, funny and humble, nothing like the man he’s portrayed in the media, the player who is late for practice and whose attention is elsewhere on the field. They move quickly, with Georgia introducing him to her family days after meeting Quinn. So, imagine his surprise when he introduces himself as her boyfriend and Georgia’s dad is introduced as his new coach…

But there is something else going on behind the scenes in Quinn’s life, something he keeps private and only his trusted inner circle know about. When his life starts spiraling once again, will Georgia be able to uncover what he’s keeping from her, and can she help him overcome the problem he’s had all his life?

This book blew me away. Quinn was such a sweetheart. He was not the cocky football player I expected him to be, he was humble and grateful for where he was, he knew how lucky he had been to make it. He wasn’t flashy and all he cared about in the world was his baby sister. He had the worst childhood and had overcome so much already; he had the weight of the world on his shoulders and he didn’t know how not to. But Georgia supported him when he needed her most and watching as he let her in and slowly opened up to her about his past and his secrets was beautiful.

Georgia was brilliant, so funny and confident, I loved her personality. Their banter as a couple was great, I found myself laughing out loud often at their exchanges, and with her family too. They were perfect for each other and brought out the best in one another. She didn’t let him run from her, she chased him until she got the truth. She shows him over and over again that she will always be there, rain or shine, in good and bad, and will be his pillar of strength when he can’t. Seeing him realise he finally has someone on his team, someone he can lean on and trust other than his close friends is so pure.

This will in no way be my last book by A.S. Teague, I loved her writing style and I am going back to Piper and Lawson’s story ASAP!

The Hardest Play is not your typical football romance, and that’s why I loved it so much. There is minimal drama between the hero and heroine, but that’s not to say there isn’t drama. It’s so different, and it hits upon topics which are current and relatable, as people go through this problem every day. A.S Teague’s writing fully absorbs you into the world you’re reading, and you go through the events and emotions with Quinn and Georgia, it was so brilliantly written. She writes about addiction in such a sensitive way, and how the power of acceptance and love can help overcome it. Your love for your family is strong, you will always do what you think is best for them, and sometimes the hardest thing to do, is the right thing.

Quinn's been traded to a team and he's already on iffy terms with them, so he really needs to stay toe the line. He's also dealing with the protective gene of his that is really so far only roused by the younger sister he takes care of. So when he meets Georgia again, he isn't really in the right mindset to start a relationship. But there's something so bright and vivacious about her, something that calls him to her. For the first time he's wondering if he can possibly have something just for him. Love. A relationship with someone who seems to just want to be around him. Someone who is concerned for him and wants nothing from him but himself. It just may be possible. If only Georgia weren't his new coach's daughter. If only his sister's care didn't take all of his attention again.

Georgia's fierce and she knows what and whom she wants, whom she loves. Quinn's it for her. So take care of him, she will. Once she finds out what is going on in his life, why his attention is split, she knows for sure he's her man. He just needs to let her in. Or maybe she can take care of him even if he doesn't seem to want to let her. Maybe...

I loved this new installment of this series. Quinn and Georgia are such a fabulous couple. He's got such a lovely heart, he's so fiercely protective and loving with his sister, and Georgia is the perfect partner for him because she's just as fiercely loving and protective as he, and she focuses it all on Quinn, who more than deserves all her love and attention. Swoon!

This was a humorous, sexy, and emotional read.

”Georgia had reminded me that I was human, that I was a man, and that I was worthy of love.”

Quinn Miller is dedicated to two things – football and his younger sister. His devotion to looking after his sister is almost detrimental to his career but she is all that he has left in the world. When he meets Georgia Reed again, he starts to wonder if there’s room in his life for romance, especially as she brings some true happiness into his life.

" There was no way to describe his kiss. But if there had ever been a moment in my life when everything felt right with the world, this was it.”

Georgia is a daddy’s girl but not spoilt, and is charming and sweet. She’s determined about going for what she wants but she’s not obnoxious. She’s been crushing on Quinn since she first met him months before, and it feels like fate has brought him into her life again. Just when things start to look promising, Quinn seems to switch off but there’s no way she’s letting him go without a fight.

”You blew into my life and I had to grab on for dear life, but now? I’m not sure that I can let you go.”

Quinn and Georgia were really great together. They were sweet and sexy, and I loved the trust they built between them. Quinn took a massive step with Georgia, but she was completely all in with him, once she figured out what was holding him back. I loved her family dynamics and how they also became Quinn’s family. There were moments in this story that were very emotional and I really enjoyed where the writer went with the storyline.

Quinn looks like he has it all on the outside. He plays in the NFL and has a fantastic group of friends, however, there is so much the world doesn’t see or know about his life and the obstacles that he has to continually overcome. Georgia is the opposite of Quinn. She has a loving family, a great support system, but where she does relate is that she struggles with events of her past. Will Quinn be able to tell Georgia his truths? Will She accept them?

I love Quinn. The amount of pain and responsibility he takes on is insane, but despite the fact it has given some people bad opinions of him he does everything in his power to help and to keep his little sister safe. Georgia is so loving and caring and supportive. It is hard not love her, too. She was a rock for Quinn throughout so much of the story. The chemistry Quinn and Georgia had was amazing and instant. From the moment they met there was an attraction and a pull to each other.

I love the bromance between Griff, Aiden and Quinn. I’ve loved it from the beginning and it just continues to get better and better. They are truly more like brother’s than friends at this point. The fact that Georgia is instantly accepted into the fold is great.

The Hardest Play was hot, emotional and completely breathtaking. This story will break you heart, have you on the edge of your seat but it will leave you smiling at the end. A MUST READ!

*** I received an ARC of this, in return for an honest review.***

So.... I'm in the minority, but I'mma be brutally honest. Quinn broke my heart. He was Mr. Martyr, Mr. Family Man, a gosh-darned saint. His family problems were epically bad. Then, he met the girl of his dreams.

Georgia took a lot of getting used to, for me. She's not my type of book heroine. The way she's described in the blurb - "hopeless romantic?" She isn't that, at all. She just annoyed me. She perpetually sees every man she's attracted as The One. In fact, that's what her best friend pointed out to her after she first bumped into Quinn (when she immediately gives him her mobile number). She's a freakin' doormat who's simply waiting for that Prince Charming to sweep her off her feet, IMO. She's also a world-class klutz and a dichotomy; she clings to Quinn - hard -, but thinks of herself as an independent woman? WTH is that?

The saving grace of "The Hardest Play," however, was Quinn and his story. The love story aspect of it was a-ight, as I trudged on. Author A.S. Teague managed to keep my eyes taped to my e-reader since I was curious how she was going to resolve Quinn's life, which was falling apart, while he was, simultaneously, falling in love with Georgie Porgie, his new coach's daughter.

While Quinn's story ended up with an HEA... and, I grew to like Georgia, eventually, I'm gonna just re-read Hardest Route - it's still the best book in this series.

Again, however, I'm in the minority here. LOL! Lots of other readers loved this and cried their hearts out as hard as I did with Brooke and her guy. Please give it a chance, and I might even look back at this review and re-assess.

Quinn Miller has moved to Atlanta recently with his sister Jamie because he has been traded to the Falcons football team there and it was not under the best of circumstances. He had already met Georgia Reed previously at his friend Aiden's Christmas party and bumps into her again. They hit it off just like before and both of them are intrigued by the other. This is just the beginning and at long last, something good happening to Quinn, and it's really fun to watch because Georgia is such a ball buster. Unfortunately, Quinn has other issues to handle, which he's been doing for years on his own and when it emerges again front and center, he has no choice but to set everything aside and deal with that. Secondly, he discovers that his new coach is none other than Georgia's dad and Quinn is already on shaky footing with his new team. Quinn's plate of difficult things is beginning to overflow and he can only handle so much at one time and has to choose between his family, career and also Georgia. This is where I wound up loving Georgia. She was first introduced in When You Became Mine. She comes from a tight knit family full of love, but also their own fair share of tragedy. She's confident, sassy and upbeat. She has a way of bulldozing into people's lives and planting herself there, for better or worse, and that's exactly what she does, all other rules be darned. She knows all about Quinn's history and current dilemma and chooses to stand by him no matter what. Even though their relationship had very little drama, Quinn had so much to deal with as it was that it only solidified how well they are together and she was exactly what he needed. I was happy for Quinn to find his perfect match in someone as strong as Georgia.

Quinn is a professional football player who finds himself struggling both personally and professionally. He has overcome his past and is a caring brother who would do anything for his sister. There is no doubting his athletic talent however the distractions of his personal life have affected his professional life at times which is how he finds himself traded to a new team looking for a fresh start.

Georgie and Quinn had met previously through friends but when fate brings them together the chemistry and connection between them is stronger than ever. She is a vibrant force of nature who always sees the good not only in others but also in life and when she loves she loves deeply.

Quinn is used to facing obstacles in his life but between finding out that Georgie’s father is the new coach who doesn’t approve of him and the complications of his personal life he isn’t sure where to turn. He is a private man who doesn’t let many people close, but Georgie is not about to let him push her away and is determined to show him that they are so much stronger together than apart.

The characters are compelling, the banter is humorous, but it is the relationships not only between Georgie and Quinn but with their family and friends that stand out.

5 Star Review The Hardest Play by A.S. Teague

A.S.Teague is a relatively new author to me and why that is I have no idea. This story was a compelling read with strong, likeable characters that drew me me in and had me captivated from the first to the last chapter.

I fell hard and fast for Quinn, there was so much to love about this man who was so loving, caring and protective, he really ticked all the boxes for me. Having overcome a challenging childhood, I so wanted Quinn to get the break and the happiness that he so richly deserved.

I loved Georgia, what a supportive, fiercely loyal woman she is. She showed Quinn just what a true partner should be and I would love to have her as a friend. The relationship that Quinn has with his sister Jamie, added to the emotional roller coaster as he struggled to balance his work and personal life.

This was a story that made me laugh, it also made me want to cry for all the hurts and wrongs of the past, but underneath that was a well written, story of love and determination to make a better life and I found it to be an entertaining read.

The Hardest Play takes all the stigmas, rash-judgment calls, and stereotypes and tells you where to shove them. This book is not only about a fantastic love story, but integrity, selfless acts, and being a better person. Quinn has had a rough life. He finally gets a break and relaxes just to have his world turned upside-down again. Georgia is a spunky, self-confident woman who goes for what she wants. They compliment each other so well. The chemistry is hot and saucy, but also sweet. Quinn keeps getting back up no matter how many hits he takes. He is the guy you want in your corner, the guy that never gives up on you. Georgia and Quinn show that how one turns out is not based on one's upbringing. You can have a beautiful family or a horrible family and still come out on top. This was a very enjoyable book. The characters were easy to fall in love with and made you cheer them on. A delightful sports-romance read!
I received a free copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Quinn Miller seemed like he had it all. A professional football player who’d gone from having nothing to seemingly having it all, until he’s traded and everything starts to take it’s toll on him. Joining a new team is never easy but when the players don’t want you there and the rumours are going wild it’s made even more difficult. I really liked Quinn. Giving up just isn’t an option so he’s willing to keep his head down and let his performance on the field speak for itself. But there’s more to Quinn than what he lets on. He’s ridiculously loyal, he proves time and again that he’ll do anything for those he loves. When he meets Georgia, they hit it off straight away but it’s not going to be easy for them. Have they got what it takes to make things work between them? You’ll have to read it and see.

This is another great book from A.S. Teague.

While being a football star, Quinn has had to overcome loads of obstacles. But it is not until he meets Georgia that he puts things on the back burner and trys to do something for himself. But at the same time his little sister Jamie is in a path of self destruction. Will Quinn give up everything to help his sister? Or will the love and acceptance he gets from Georgia finally be the thing that opens his eyes and allows him to finally have the strength to break free? This is the third book in the series and although I loved the first two, this one hit every emotional string I have. The love for a family member sometimes overshadows the part missing inside yourself. Highly emotional and highly entertaining. A great read.

A.S. Teague totally scores with this sports romance The Hardest Play! Beautifully written and completely absorbing, I devoured this story in one go!

Let me say it now: I LOVED QUINN! The man was total book boyfriend perfection. A sexy jock, but completely grounded and humble. It made him even sexier! Georgia was great too. The girl was strong, confident, and full of sass. Together they had the best chemistry and banter. I cheered on these two the entire way. I loved watching them grow and especially getting to see Quinn open up to Georgia and let her in. It melted my heart and left me in a puddle of swoon. I really loved this story and definitely recommend for lovers of sports romances and fantastic heroes! 5 stars.

A.S Teague continues to be one of my favorite authors for a reason. Her writing, her incredible storytelling, and what she allows me to feel and live with her characters has solidified her as an author who I know will deliver an incredible story. The Hardest Play was no different. this story encapsulated her wonderful style of writing, her memorable characters, and it pulled my heart into every breath of the story. From the very first moment of this book I was completely consumed with an everything she was creating. I fell in love with these characters, I once again fell in love with this world, and I loved every emotionally unforgettable moment I got along the way in this story.

I have been a fan of this series from the start. From the moment I jumped into that unforgettable and life changing night in Vegas with these characters, I knew that I wanted each and every one of their stories. A.S. Teague has thoughtfully crafted and created each of their stories in a unique and special way that has pulled me to them even more than I thought possible. I have loved all of these characters from the moment I met them in The Hardest Route. With each addition to this series, I have fallen more in love with them all. Their sense of family. Their unyielding friendships. Their loyalty. Their love. And their dynamic sense of fight and determination that defines them all in the best way.

A.S. Teague has created a magnificent series of interconnected standalones that I never wanted to see end. As sad as I was to say goodbye to these characters that have completely stolen my heart, A.S. Teague brought it all, and them, to a fitting close. I truly could not have asked for more from this book. From the feels, to the instant connection, to the deeply meaningful and emotional story, this book had it all. Combine that with the literal fire that is Georgia and the perfect level of honesty and sweetness that is Quinn, and you have yourself one hell of a story.

I absolutely loved getting these character Story. The connection between Georgia and Quinn is fierce. it is undeniable and it is their right from the start. I love getting to be there as that connection was given its wings, and as the two of them tried to see what could be. What started off as something neither of these two could fight, a pull so strong I never saw it stopping for anything, soon turned into a heavy dose of reality and some serious emotional anguish. when they're real world comes crashing down around these two it will literally steal your breath away. It will also break your heart in so many ways for all of these characters because of the struggles and the consequences that they face because of those struggles. But you will also love that it is those moments that are the catalyst for the magnificent story this author creates.

A.S. Teague once again uses her incredible writing to let you fully understand her characters. She lets you get who they are at their core. She lets you get them, she invests you in them on the deepest of levels, and then she has you rooting for them with all that you have. The more you get into her words and this story, the more you get with these characters, and the more you love and understand them. The way she uses her words and thoughtfully crafted storytelling to peel back those layers of these characters, to show you them and their true selves, to let you understand their motivations on the deepest of levels, is nothing short of everything.

Every word of this book will sear you to Quinn and Georgia.

The more you get with them, the more you will absolutely love them. You will love the honesty and the rawness of their connection. You will love how right it feels to see them together. You will love that right from the start it feels so different between the two of them and so special. You will love that every word with them just solidifies the feelings and the emotions and the thoughts you have towards them. you will love that even though these characters don't have an easy story, that you get to be there right in the thick of it with them as they fight for it, as they give it their all, and as they see if they can make it work.

This author makes it so beyond easy to love them, to believe in their connection, and to root for them with everything that you have. That speaks to everything that she creates with them that even on the darkest and hardest of moments, you have hope, you have fight, and you have so much belief in the two of them. Quinn and Georgia are life and so so special. They are perfect for one another, they have a connection and a fire that is practically tangible, and they have a love story that will truly take ahold of you with all that it has.

I have to tell you that Georgia and Quinn are kind of the best. Getting the two of them combines with the other amazing characters that make up this world will have you equally laughing and smiling as much as you get those feels. Griff, Aiden, Mel, Brooke, and the rest of the gang are back and better than ever. the family that all of these characters free together will just melt your heart through every word.

I have to say that one of my favorite parts of this book was getting to see the relationship between Quinn and his sister Jamie. They definitely have a very complicated story and relationship for a lot of reasons, but through it all you see the love that connects them and that brings them together. You see how much they do care for one another even in the hardest of situations, and you see that wall things might not be easy, that those two truly do what they can to make the best out of anything.

Quinn is a man with a heart of gold who is beyond thoughtful and so caring. That combined with the fact that he can make you swoon in about a second flat makes him the full package. He is a man who would do anything for his family, but he is also a man who has the weight of the world on his shoulders. This story is very much about what happens when his obligations, his loyalties, his family, and his love all coincide together. It is definitely not easy for him to find his way through all of those dynamics and moving parts, but this story allows you to fully connect with him as he tries to make sense of it all. As he's tries to find that happiness he has been searching for forever. As he's trying to do right by his sister. As he tries to see if he can make it work with Georgia.

Georgia is pure fire, personality, and sass. She is a girl who knows what she wants and goes after it with all that she has. She is honest, tells it like it is, and keeps everyone on their toes...especially Quinn. This story makes her face some very big things right along with Quinn. It forces her to take stock of what is truly important to her, what is the truth and what is real, as well as what she knows deep within her heart. Georgia was a character that I just loved from the moment I met her. (Which wasn't actually in this book...so go find the book she's introduced in because you NEED that book in your life stat.) She is life and color and voice. She is fierce and loyal to a T. She is the best, and is also so real. I loved that about her, and I loved every single second of her story with Quinn.

The Hardest Play it's a story about so many things. It is a story of love, family, and friendship. It is an emotionally moving story about just how far you are willing to go for the ones you love and the ones who make all the difference. It is a story that pushes these characters to their emotional limits, but that simultaneously reveals the best of them and their hearts. It is a story of second chances and of new beginnings. It is a story about some of the most heartbreaking experiences that will bring many tears to your eyes, but in the same breath it is a story of love. Real, feel it in your bones with all you have, shout it from the rooftops, fight for it, love.

Quinn and Georgia's love story was everything. It was consuming, exceptionally written and crafted, and it was emotional and meaningful from start to finish. Every word of Quinn and Georgia's story in The Hardest Play will give you life. It will pull you to them, it will have you fighting right along with them for what could be, and it will show you the truly healing power of love.

I know that that sounds a little bit cliche but honestly it's the truth. This story had me believing and knowing in the power of love. Love can heal you. It can restore you. It can give you everything. It can hurt you and it can threaten to break you, but it can also give you the world if you let it, if you trust it, and if you believe in it. This story allows you to experience every facet and part of love, and in the end it will have you knowing that Quinn and Georgia share the best kind of love story. A love story that is real, full of authentic emotion, and unforgettable.

The Hardest Play is one of the best books I have read this year and is hands down one of my favorite books by A.S. Teague. This author continues to wow me with her words, her characters, and her stories, and this book was no different. It gave me it all. Georgia and Quinn still own a piece of my heart as we speak, and I honestly can't say enough good things about them. They are genuine, they are real, they are easy to love and root for, and that is just a fraction of what makes their story so special.

As sad as I am to say goodbye to this world and these characters, I could not have asked for more from this story. It was everything I needed and more. When I turned that last page and reached the end, I did so with a heart that was bursting for these characters and so in love with everything I had read, and that is the true tell of a good love story.

A.S. Teague created a phenomenal story and series from start to finish, and I am telling you, you need these characters and words in your life. You need them and you will love them with all that you have because they will put it all on the line when it really matters. They will show you the true meaning of love, family, and friendship, and in the end, they will have you knowing with your whole heart that that is truly all you need.

Just a sweet and simple love story with a whopper of a surprise towards the end. I was beginning to be worried because I was thinking it was going to be bland, yet it turned out to be anything but. Interesting!

Quinn is newly arrived to Atlanta where he joined the Georgia Falcons football team. We read that he had problems with his previous team, where he was late to practices, bad plays during games, and gained a diva reputation. He’s not well received in his new team, and we read all these references to his problems but we don’t get any information about what happened. Anyway, he’s determined to rise above his past problems, work his butt off and win over his teammates and the coach.

His sister Jamie moved to Atlanta with him. They shared a crappy childhood in a hick poor town where they were raised by an abusive father. They both wear the signs of having survived an abusive childhood. So Quinn is the epitome of a rags to riches story, except that after the first years of pro play, where he broke many records and won the reputation of being a star player, he started flunking, and got traded to the Falcons.

On their first night in Atlanta, they go out for dinner and drinks and they run into Georgia Reed, whom they had met the previous year at Aiden’s house. Aiden is one of Quinn’s close friends, and appears in The Hardest Hit. Now at the bar, it’s evident the attraction is still there and hot, and they make arrangements to meet later on.

And then we start on a love story that is ridden with pitfalls that threaten to split these two apart. Quinn faces several situations and starts to have problems at practices. He’s very close-mouthed about his reasons. Luckily, Georgia is tenacious and she saves the day when it seems they are going to crash and burn. At some point I saw her as pushy, but then I saw that being so is what makes their relation work. Despite his discipline, Quinn is a little accepting of his bad luck and at many times needed a push. When things begin to get dicey, it was Georgia’s persistence that saves the day.

All the characters in this story are memorable, and mostly Quinn. He’s a giver, a man who pays attention, generous to a fault.

“Quinn’s beauty was in the way he got me, somehow after only a week knew what to say to make me feel better, could take my endless teasing in stride, and gazed at me with ocean-blue eyes that seemed to see directly into the most hidden parts of me.”

He was quietly strong and supportive. In many ways, he was a hero, but without any fanfares. This books started out sweet and ended super angsty and I loved it. It was an easy read, great pace, and great characters. What I loved most was the kindness in the characters, it shone through in all their words and actions.

5 Addictive Crowns

This is the first book that I’ve had that chance to read by A.S Teague and it won’t be the last. She has such an easy way with words, that has them wrapping around you like a warm blanket and making you feel like your coming home. I easily slipped into this story and found myself lost to the world she created not bothering to come up for air until I finished.

His tongue licked. My teeth nipped. Our mouths both so greedy for the other that the world could have come crashing down and I don’t think either of us would have cared.

I absolutely freaking adored Quinn. This man was not what I was expecting being as he is a football player, but he is the exact opposite of what you would assume, and I loved it. His heart is so big, and he overcame so much to be where he is today. And think due to the way he was raised it kept a level head on his shoulders. He doesn’t blow his money he’s frugal and plays it safe, but he doesn’t need to be overt with his money. The soft way that he is, has your heart opening to him and physically aching every single time he must go through something. He has spent his whole life shouldering this huge presence that he didn’t know how not to. I loved watching as he let Georgia in and slowly as their relationship evolved, he let her take some of that burden and help him. Gahhh, that had my soul ache for him and had me crying ugly tears for this man that is trying so unbelievably hard.

I pressed my body against his. When his lips finally parted, a sigh that felt like it had come from my soul slipped out.

As much as I loved Quinn, I loved Georgie just as much. She is absolutely perfect for him. She does not allow him to run away she stands firm in her convictions and shows him over and over that she’s not going anywhere. Which in turn allows him to finally be able to trust someone other than his close friends. Their love is pure and strong, and it may have happened quickly, but it doesn’t feel forced, it felt completely natural and inevitable.

Her mouth was sweet, the citrus tang of my fondest childhood memories mingling with the heat of desire as her tongue danced with mine.

This book is so much more than I thought it was going to be, A.S Teague takes you on a heartfelt journey of addiction and acceptance and the ultimate power of love. Her words have created such a beautiful story that at times yes, your heart will hurt, and your soul will ache but the outcome is so worth it. A.S Teague has without a doubt scored a touchdown with this brilliantly honest read.
