God Is Real: The Stunning New Convergence of Science and Spirituality

Rate this book
These extraordinary discoveries are by a former monk of 20 years. The new findings could transform the discussion of science and spirituality across our planet.

Sanjay’s uplifting discoveries are amongst the few to get published in peer-reviewed, mainstream, international scientific journals such as INSA (India), IMAREST (UK), and ICHS (China). They have also been authenticated by a cosmology writer for Cambridge University (UK) and The Scientific American journal (USA).

The discoveries demonstrate how a beautiful consciousness indeed exists - call it God, Cosmic Intelligence, Spiritual Energy or whatever you prefer.

Skeptics are completely ignoring this new evidence.

It concerns the beautiful facts about our world and universe given in Genesis described in the Bible and also by yogis in ancient India. These amazing facts were unknowable in ancient times.

A new testable length of each day of Genesis suggests it is an eon 2.3 billion years long. Across six days (eons) of creation, this gives the correct age of the universe and the correct age of the sun. How can this be a coincidence?

Additionally, Noah’s Flood and the global extinction event can now be placed at the time of the Permian-Triassic extinction. Scientists say this is when life on Earth nearly ended. The Noah’s Flood is shown to be a synopsis of a much more detailed event also related to huge volcanic activity in the oceans and on land described in ancient yoga tests.

The Israelites and yogis achieved the impossible. For instance, the yogis accurately described the following scientific discoveries, along with their exact timelines in millions or billions of years: Deep-Sea Hydrothermal Vents, the Permian-Triassic Worldwide Extinction of Life, the Big Bang, Galaxies, and even the future life-span of our Sun. Modern science confirms more than 200 of these ancient descriptions given by the yogis.

How could they know what they knew?

The yogis claimed that prayer and meditation connected them to all people, the whole world, and the Divine. Was this fantasy? Or can meditation truly lead to vast knowledge and intuition as they opined? Might consciousness be key to understanding the nature of God and the universe?

This invaluable research has taken 30 years to complete. Working with a team of Indian and European Indologists, as well as with mainstream oceanographers, paleontologists, geologists, astrophysicists, and cosmologists, Sanjay presents his extraordinary findings in this book.

Get away from the one-eyed narrative created by extremists on both sides. These discoveries provide real solutions to some of humankind’s oldest puzzles.

In June 2007, former monk of 20 years Sanjay C Patel became the first in the world to uncover the following amazing proof of God and Genesis!

“My life's mission is to help people in need.

Not only physically and psychologically, but also holistically and spiritually.

What I have discovered is due to the inspiration of my parents and spiritual teachers,” says Sanjay.

___________________

At age 20, seeking enlightenment, Sanjay left behind his comfortable life in London UK, to help the poor and live at a monastery (ashram) in the wilderness of India.

Sanjay teaches from the authentic experiences of what he has lived, breathed, and practiced for 20 years as a monk.

He actually lived the ancient practice of austerity and self-denial prescribed for advanced yoga and meditation.

He practiced yoga and meditated for 6 hours a day every day for 20 years!

Often, he meditated for days on end. This was to explore true self-discovery, true self-esteem, and true self-control. It led to a genuine mastery over the mind.

He fasted for four days at a stretch, even without water. Additionally, he fasted 8 days a month. He slept on the cold floor, awoke every day at 5am, showered in freezing water, and ate simple vegetarian food.

He didn’t even watch tv, listen to the radio, or have a phone. He didn’t drink tea or coffee or sodas. He didn’t eat onion or garlic. He mixed his food with water in a begging bowl before eating.

He rejected all pleasures and comforts of the body and delved into yoga, meditation, self-control, self-development, spirituality, and helping the poor.

Without receiving any salary or compensation or other source of income whatsoever for 20 years, Sanjay in effect committed career suicide when he dedicated the prime youth of his life to helping the poor and those afflicted by floods, famine, and earthquake in India and around the world.

The yoga practiced by Sanjay is the completely undiluted form of Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga practiced by the monks and sages of yore.

In "God is Real", Patel discusses the convergences between two seemingly disparate traditions: the Yogi literature of the East and Biblical texts of the West. He explains how both seem to address actual scientifically proven events such as deep-sea volcanoes, hydrothermal vents, the Permian-Triassic extincton, the Big Bang, and the eventual destruction of our planet by the Sun's ever-expanding size. He claims that these scientific events came to be proven after years of thorough research and modern equipment but that the Yogis and Israelites somehow already these facts, long before sophisticated science. Patel posits that these convergences are a sign of spiritual enlightenment and divine inspiration. Somehow, these ancient peoples had actually experienced powerful spiritual clarity and perhaps even contact with God.

Many of his explanations are lengthy and admittedly I often skipped ahead at times. His arguments for how these people knew these scientific facts were more romantic than logical, at times. Many times, it was redundant. I can definitely see his point, though, and how one could conclude that the reason behind their relatively accurate descriptions of the earth were due to divine inspiration.

For those of you who have ever questioned the existence of a supreme being or wondered if organized religion were more than a mere pipe dream, this is the book for you. Not only does Sanjay Patel discover and prove dozens of convergences -- as opposed to coincidences -- between science and spirituality, but he does so with clarity, peer-reviewed research, and innate wisdom. He also avoids any proselytizing in the process. At no time in this landmark discovery does he ever come down on the side of any organized religion. I was deeply moved and greatly swayed by his synchronization of the seven days of the Creation "myth" and the billions of years of the Big Bang and evolution. What he writes about day five will absolutely open up your mind to the real possibility that religion has been right all along and that mythology, while far from inaccurate, is more symbolic than literal. This book deserves a place on any science bookshelf, but it should also occupy a place in your soul.

I received this book in a giveaway through Goodreads and am happy to have just completed reading it. I found the book interesting and intriguing through all 117 convergences of science amd spirituality that God is indeed real. I have often in my life entertained ideas of God's work in the greater universe and through our world's history. I am happy to see someone else has seen things as I havem but certainly much more extensively. The amount of research and introspection that went into writing this book amazes me.

This is an incredible book that BADLY needed an editor. It was the most poorly written/inspiring book I've ever read lol. The content in this book blew me away and made me want to do more research. The convergence of science and ancient/indigenous spiritual teachings is something that is really fascinating to me, and this book gives you lots of concrete examples of that. It was just really poorly written and constructed. Still absolutely worth a read for anyone interested in this topic.

I found the book very interesting. Patel does a good job of showing how Yogi texts and Biblical texts are supported by science.

I have long held the belief that science and faith are not exclusive of each other. Science is a tool that can actually increase our understanding of the Bible (or other texts). This book does a good job of demonstrating that.

I'm not really a yoga spirited person but Patel's chapter on the Seven Days of Genesis in the Bible describing its parallels with modern cosmology really blew me away. To maintain their personal theologies, other books on this subject change the rules of interpretation on different days of Genesis. That's really moving the goal posts to fit science into their personal viewpoint and is unscientific.

But Patel, without touching theology, simply maintains the same rules for all Seven Days and presents spectacular results! I'm dumbfounded. I highly recommend this book to all.

Not quite sure how to feel about this book, it's quite an interesting take on spirituality, Christianity, and science all in one book. Patel has a lot of information that is informative and fact based as well as lots of Yogi literature and teachings, though at times it seems a bit different, but he did specify how he defined God in his book. There seems to be times he writes more to get his point across instead of being more succinct. He is able to prove some scientific information with scripture and vice versa. Wasn't entirely my cup of tea, but really good for people who are questioning and bridging religion and science together because one can have science and religion be complementary.

I won this book, it was well written and very interesting. It seems one intent of this book is to prove to non-believers that (as the title states) God is real. The author does this by taking sections of ancient religious texts and comparing them to "modern discoveries". When these texts and modern science match they are referred to as a convergence. The author feels that since there would be no way the ancients would know, for example, the particular characteristics of volcanoes at the bottom of the ocean floor which they accurately describe it must be through some form of Divine intelligence. There are over 100 of these convergences in this book, most of which are very surprising all of which are interesting.

Being a believer myself I have no idea if this book would convince a non believer of the existence of God or not (I thought it was quite obvious). I didn't give this book 5 stars because for me it was like "preaching to the choir" but, I am sure many others will.

First Read Win. I finally recieved this in the mail. And finished reading it. It was pretty interesting but not my kind of book. I am not completely a religious person at all. The book was written well and I am sure many people will like it. I thought it was interesting seeing his point of few and how he thought. But for me I don't plan on reading another book for this author,. Some of the parts in the book I skipped because it became way too long and a little uninteresting. To where I got the general gist of things by just skimming through certain sections.

I won this book as part of the giveaway on goodreads.com.
It offered food for thought. I am a Christian. I was brought up in a Christian home and have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I do find it interesting the writer used scriptures to confirm science and scripture to confirm science is many different ways. I intend to go back and write some questions that I thought of while reading it and ask my pastor and a few Christian friends what their take is on it.

It took me a while to get through this book. Mr. Patel seemed to keep repeating himself, and in so doing lost my interest. The convergences of ancient scripture and modern science are interesting and are “proof” if you want them to be. While I don’t doubt Patel’s research, I personally feel that belief in God is a matter of faith and the nature of faith does not require scientific proof.

Not what I thought it would be but MUCH BETTER! Sanjay has explained a profound 200 year mystery of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam in one swoop! Why did't the Catholic and Protestant Churches discover this brilliant solution to Genesis? They were caught napping. Sanjay, a Hindu monk, gallantly solved another Faith's problem. This is mind-blowing. I'm giving my copy to my friends at work. I hope Sanjay gets an award for his discoveries. Do read!
