The Collide Series #3

When Souls Collide

Rate this book
BOOK THREE of The Collide Series

After waking up at the hospital last year, dreams of conversations I’d had in my coma were not the only thing that visited me at night. On the nights where I didn’t dream of Kain, nightmares ate away at my peace of mind constantly. Most of the time, it would be a vivid reliving of that awful night in July, when I felt my life slip through my fingers like sand.

I died that day.

Literally.

There was this chunk of time that went blank between the moment I heard the cracking of the gunshot and then waking up sixteen days later, gaunt, scarred, and childless. Clearly, I went to hell. And I relived that night in my nightmares at least once a week for the past sixteen months.

Book three is told in both Lauren and Kain's points of view.

Forever a South Florida girl, Millie Belizaire has a thrill for the exciting (and a little of the weird), unnecessarily sped up music, and painting. Most of the time, however, she can be found tucked in her cozy lair typing away at her laptop. A storyteller to the bone, she finds no greater joy than sharing her tales of love, of action, of pain, and of life.

Millie!!!! You KNOW I’m side eyeing you after the way you put my emotions through the washing machine and then hung me out to dry!! 😭😪🤧💔 Why my girl have to have such a rough 2 years the way she did. After everything she went through in book 2, you kicked it up a notch in book 3! Lauren experienced some of the worst heartache at the hands of those that claimed to love her.

After making the tough decision to let Lauren go, Kain thought he was doing her a world of good but only time would expose the emotional trauma that Lauren endured during their time apart. The very thing that Kain was trying to prevent, happened on the worst possible scale and he was equally tormented after finding out just how bad things got for her. I absolutely LOVED how Lauren’s dreams were connected to those moments between her and Kain. That was a nice touch in the story. Kain LOVED him some Lauren from the very first time he saw her and it was evident in the way he looked at, spoke to her, protected her and just showed up for her! Their bond was on another level and I wish we would’ve seen more of their happiness after they were reunited.

I wanted desperately to see Joshua’s world crumble the same way we saw with Silas. What did his wife and Morgan have to say when all of his secrets were exposed?! He should’ve been in an orange jumpsuit right next to Silas. That was a missed opportunity that readers deserved after what he did! I wasn’t shocked about Vance, I almost expected that to be the truth. Shame on him smh 🤦🏽‍♀️ ! It was also clear that in the end, Lux wasn’t the friend to Lauren that we hoped for her to be. I would’ve like to see how that conversation played out when she finally learned the truth as well. I’m glad there are a few spin offs about Lauren and Kain because I’m not ready to see them go! This was an amazing series and I highly recommend it! You won’t be disappointed!

10 STARZ

I have never read a story or a series where I felt I was truly vested in like this one, the emotions I went through the emotions I honestly felt I really wasn't ready for the book to end and of course it had to end. For this to be Me Belizaire first book her penmanship is remarkable. I look forwArd in reading more from her. As for now I'm going to miss Kaine and Lauren!!

These two! I was not expecting so much heart break going into this book. Kain's heart break. Lauren's heart break. MY heart break.

There were multiple ways I imagined the aftermath of book two to have played out in this final installment. None of the potential storylines I dreamed up resulted in my being in PAIN though. Lauren and Kain really put me THROUGH it in When Souls Collide. The secrets kept for the sake of protection, the distance maintained in the name of perceived betrayal, the torment endured in the hopes of re-acceptance―culminating in my heart being shread to pieces with every page I turned.

Thats how you know when you really love the characters you're reading about. When their unhappiness changes your mood, causes you to have literal chest pains, to shout at them through your screen as if they are actual people and can hear you and resolve the issues they are going through just to stop from having to hear the pain in your voice. The story that has been weaved over the course of these three books has been so endearing, nerve-wracking, and devastating all at the same time.

I can't believe these two are so young! The amount of craziness they've gone through at not only such a young age, but in such a short period of time. Its a testatment to how resiliant we are as people. For Lauren and Kain, this book was all about facing demons and uncovering truths. Life shattering revelations are made and while they falter a bit, take a slight stumble, with the support and love of eachother they're able to persevere and keep fighting. Making me both angry and proud of them at the same damn time.

This was a rollercoaster ride for the ages and I couldn't be more happy to have been whipped to and fro, spun around on the many loops, and dropped 90 degrees to the ground at 200mph. Because like Lauren and Kains relationship, the bumps in the ride only made for a more rewarding finish.

SLOW CLAP FOR THE COLLIDE SERIES FOLKS!

Sacrificing for Love

Whew this book was A LOT!

Lauren and Kain were going through it. Man this book really opened up on some bs. Like the drama smacked me a few minutes into the book with the "15 months later" and it went downhill from there. I had such a hard time reading how broken Lauren was. Kain made some tough decisions, decisions he thought he was making in order to protect Lauren. He thought by letting her go and not making her choose that her family would do right by her. He was sadly mistaken. He was young and I think he really wanted to believe in the fairytale life he thought Lauren lived with both her parents. Idk how he came to this conclusion when he KNEW her father was a monster. Quiet as kept I think he blamed himself for putting her in harm's way and she was yet another person taking a bullet for him. I think he subconsciously thought she was better without him. His view was flawed though. Lauren's parents loved her conditionally and if she didn't live up to those conditions she was of no use to them. When he left her...she was forced to grieve alone. To believe the lies her parents told her and to question if the euphoria she felt with Kain was even real. Lauren basically dimmed her own light, hoping to be invisible so people wouldn't think of her as tarnished goods. She tolerated people she didn't like and knew were no good for her, because she felt like nothing was worse than what she experienced with losing Kain. Damn my heart just broke for her.
Kain was just existing.... He refused to even try to move on. He wasn't a saint, but he would never be close to anyone but Lauren. Everything he did was calculated in support for her and her well being even when he knew she wanted to hate him. Kain was such a layered individual, he was hardened from being raised by his father Silas yet softened by his Uncle Vance's light. The story of who he was, was unraveling as well. It was really bittersweet and again more heartbreak.
It was deep into the book when they finally run into each other, Ms. Belizaire's signature shows up again. It takes them awhile to reunite as they finally talk through all the lies Lauren believes are true. Kain is so hesitant because he believes it will hurt her even more.
I was invested in this couple and I hoped for a much stronger ending. That is the only thing that kept me from 5 stars. If we are going to go through all of this pain, I believe we should experience their joy as well. I have so many questions as to how they progressed forward as a couple.
Definitely a great read though!

Started of as a GREAT story but did not end how I

First off let me say I read all three books before I wrote this review so it definitely changed my overall opinion. (Book 1- 5+ stars, book 2 - 3 stars, book 3- 1 star) I looooooooved book one and was instantly hooked with these two amazing characters. The writing was so well done it felt like I grabbed the book of the top shelf at Barnes and Nobles. This urban take on Romeo and Juliette was by far my favorite. However, the second and last book left a lot to be desired. So much so that I'm furious. First, I'm used to the storyline being told in a back and forth style between the 2MCs so I was a little disappointed that I had to wait to see how Kain felt but I got over it. I could not however get over the fact that book three basically didn't give us our HEA until 98% in! And even then was that an HEA?? I literally saw the first page and skimmed forward to where they encounter each other which is honestly all I wanted to read about! I feel like the side stuff with Rashad and everyone else just took away from the main story. All the information about his dad and her dad wasted their time together. Was this a story about their worlds colliding or their dads being evil bastards? Even the parts about therapy dragged on but I'm glad they got help. I get the story needed to take a dive before they could come together but it was literally 37% in before they even started talking again and I was honestly disappointed it took so long to get back to their romance and even then it wasn't until 70% that she came to her senses! The ending is rushed and they aren't even really together. I'm bummed because I had such high hopes for this couple and I felt like I was cheated out of seeing them become whole again. There was no closure in any of the long drawn out side stories either! What was the point of telling us about her dad, his dad, her mom, her sister (who we didn't really hear about all of book 3), his "uncle", his mom, his new business plan, his schooling, her life (why did she even stay behind?!) and her broken soul if we don't get closure. I see there is a holiday check in but honestly after reading the synopsis I'm not going into it with much hope. I'm not sure what happened but this story had so much potential to be great.

This has been of the absolute best series by far that I have read, although I have several questions about Lauren's family, Vance, Silas, and Cierra. I did not care for Lux. I believe she was actually jealous of Lauren and Kain. I did not want it to end. I look forward to reading more of her work.

@milliebelizaire did a great job on this series. I reviewed the first in the series back in March & absolutely loved it. Book 2 picks up with a few flashbacks here & there but gets right to the nitty gritty. Kain, is on the fence about attending his best friend Amir’s funeral because he’s feeling a lot of guilt about the way he died. He asks Lauren to accompany him & of course they run into his sister Cierra who was Amir’s girlfriend & she is so angry that she has told Silas about Kain & Lauren’s relationship knowing Silas has it in for Lauren. Kain & Silas have a slightly heated discussion & Kain handles it great. Eventually Kain & Lauren are living a somewhat normal life & being spotted around town by local news stations. I personally thought Silas had pushed the idea of kidnapping & killing Lauren out of his mind until the night of Kains 21st birthday party when the unbelievable happened!! Fast forward to a conversation between Kain & Lauren’s father & Kain has to take the stand in court (You have to read it to see for yourself). Nothing is the same for either of them. Kain is keeping a secret from Lauren & Lauren knows information that’ll hurt Kain & it all comes out. Things are changed forever. I tried reading this book slowly but I couldn’t put it down. I NEEDED to know what was coming next. @milliebelizaire is an author to watch & I will definitely keep an eye out for her future works.

When Worlds Collide (Book1)
When Hearts Collide (Book2)
When Souls Collide (Book3)
So after I made this long heartfelt post about my moms and her husband, I ran into this series *sighs*
I love when authors can make their characters love so unselfishly. OMG, the way Kain loved Lauren was so breath taking, damn near overwhelming. At times I had to sit the book down and be like "Damn". So perfectly written you had no choice but to feel the emotions. If you are into love stories, this one definitely will not disappoint you, it flowed effortlessly. The perfect titles, for the perfect story. I get it.

It's taken me a minute to get my feelings in check. When a good story ends, you can't help but get a bit of book depression. This series has wrung my emotions out like an old cleaning rag. I was anxiously awaiting this read and Belizaire did not disappoint!

From the jump, the drama ensues and doesn't let up until the end! My mind was hit blow by blow in book 2 with events that occurred and I appreciated how the author paired those highs with some lulls which showed the aftermath of the series of unfortunate events that were put into play in the previous installments. 15 months have past and readers get to see how the main characters are coping. I throughly enjoyed hearing from Kain and Lauren interchangeably within the chapters: the voice of each character was well suited to each particular scene. Did I say Kain is BAE...lort this man is an enigma! His calm presence and roboust masculinity is such a great compliment to Lauren who has grown some serious balls and a backbone compared to the beginning of this series. Their love is so palpable you could feel it with just a glance or a simple touch. Additionally, the side characters (as usual) added to plot progression.

The ending was unpredictable , but you have to pay attention to what is stated and in some instances, confessed to understand why things culminate the way that they do.
There were some moments for which I'm still shocked at how Kain and Lauren especially handled them which speaks to character development. At this point, I just didn't want this series to end. I look forward to Eden's book this Fall!

Great Read

I don't usually like reading books where the main characters are under the age of 30' let alone barely out of their teens. This trio of stories had me hooked. So many tales to be told and so many heart breaks. But, Kain and Lauren survived. The series is Definitely worth the read.

This book starts out pretty slow... But then the build up of events start coming in... And all of a sudden all these different bombs are going off left and right... And out of everything that is going on, the only thing that is real, is the love between Lauren and Kain...
I loved Kain and the way he was but I also did not like the way he was all the same... Because although he did everything he could possibly do to make Lauren's life better for her... He also made things worse for her without even knowing... I mean I understand he was trying to protect her and give her what he thought she needed... But he never gave her a choice in the matter... And for 16 LONG months it was pure torture for her... I mean I love that he was trying to protect her no matter what... I just hate that he just put so much on his shoulders and he was so unhappy... When he really deserved all the happiness in the world...
Her family and best friend are horrible for the way they just continued to treat her... I mean she did get a little closer with her sister but it was still not a home for her...
I am just glad that things played out the way that they did for them... If it had not been for Rashad and his selfish mean way on Lauren's birthday... They never would have found the happiness that they deserved...
Once they had eachother... They were able to take on the world it felt like... Because they were able to do it together... And trust me when it all played out, they definitely would not have been able to handle it alone...
Overall thia was a good series... Now the only thing I did not like about this book is the way things ended... It just feels so incomplete... I feel like I have more questions then answers... I fell like I am missing the most important part of the story... Like now that everything has finally come out... Now what happened... I thought maybe the epilogue would give me the answer that I needed... but nope it now gave me even more questions... Ugh... such a frustration ending... There just has to be more to this story... This just really sucks because book 1 and 2 were so good... But this book ending is such a let down...

I throughly enjoyed the whole series of this book, from start to finish! 😩🫶🏾 I know the role Lauren plays is supposed to be naive and timid but sis was pissing me TF OFF consistently 😂 I just wanted her to be a little bit more tough and protective of her dam self.

Kain is a good man! 🥹😭
Silas and Lauren’s dad both deserve to rot in prison.
Vance I initially liked him but after what I discovered that man is a punk!
Lauren’s mum is a mess and a lost soul.
Hmm, in fact let me just stop there because if I mention that chewing gum girl of Kain’s sister kmt. Even you Lux & Morgan I’m side eyeing you 👀

Overall, a great read! 👏🏾

A great ending to a great series

Nooooooooo it can't be over.. I don't want the series to end.. This is by far the best series I've read this year.. The love and bond that Kain and Lauren shared was unbreakable.. I love that he constantly put her well-being before everything.. As much as he needed her he couldn't risk her knowing a truth that would crush her even if that truth would have lead her right back to him.. This was an amazing series.. I don't want to give to much away but Ms. Belizaire is phenomenal and has made her want into my list of favorite authors.. ♥ ♥

Kain and Lauren

I honestly wished that I would’ve known that Jay response Lauren’s dad gave her, but with my imagination I’m pretty sure I knew how it went. I never really did like him. I loved that they got their happy ending! I’m glad the truth came out about a lot of things. I loved this whole series!

3.75⭐️ This was a fun series and love that it was an retelling of Romeo and Juliet! The only thing I will say is I wish this series wasn’t as dragged out as I felt it was. I also wish the ending wasn’t so abrupt. I ended up still having questions about the fate of other characters. Overall this series was a fun read and if recommend it especially if you just finished reading “fast” !

I enjoyed seeing Kain and Lauren have a happy ending but I strongly dislike cliff hangers. Why don’t we know what happened with Silas and Joshua Montgomery? In Garden of Eden I don’t think we ever got to hear what Silas was convicted for either.
