Homicide detective Bill Hendrix grew up reading horror novels and watching scary movies. So, when they find themselves investigating the murder of a teen and find two puncture wounds on the dead girl’s neck, Bill is convinced it’s the work of a vampire. His partner, Hank Jenkins, however, is as skeptical as ever of what he considers Bill’s crazy theories.
But as the bodies begin to pile up and one weird case after another lands on their desks, it’s hard to deny there’s something dark and strange going on. Bill and Hank must work together to get to the bottom of what’s happening before the carnage claims them, too.
This is a quirky, fun book that will appeal to fans of The X-Files, Black Mirror, and the like. It's broken into "cases" rather than traditional chapters, but there's a good flow from one to the next. Griffiths has a talent for writing interesting, relatable characters that I'd be happy to read more about.
