Welcome to Hell #7

Jane Davey's Locket

Rate this book
*Lucifer has created his own version of the love boat, which means no one is safe. Not even a witch.

My crazy witch of a grandma placed a spell on my locket.

A love spell.

I don’t think so. Which means I’ll have to find my cursed necklace and nullify the magic. But first, I apparently have to go on a cruise with Grandma.

She’s booked a berth on some fancy boat with others like us. You know, the special folk—as in horns, magic, and a bit of fur. No sooner do I park my broom and find my sea-legs when the locket turns up on board—thankfully, not in the possession of the annoying shapeshifter.

Oz is hot, but he’s not my type. Neither is the pirate whom the locket tries to hook me up with. Or the sea monster who gets it next and tries to drown me.

Busy avoiding potential suitors, I find myself hoping the locket will end up in the one place it doesn’t belong: in the grasp of the lion who makes me purr.

I’m happy the series is back. Sweet fast paced chase down a spelled locket. Nice to see Dex and Lucifer again. The couple were sweet together. Didn’t like the sisters but the wizard of Oz theme was interesting. Nice set up for the next two books. Looking forward to the sea monster.

I enjoy just about everything that Eve Langlais writes. She is wonderful and has me laughing even when I do not want to. This book no expectation.

When we first are introduced to Jane is is not trying to find her future husband. She does not want to go on this cruise either. She is only here to hang out with her grandma and potentially see her parents. I loved Oz. He was not only funny but he was genuinely interested in Jane.

This book was a great installment to this series and I hope that we get to see more of Lucifer. That devil is the best!

This book is so much fun! Plus - A Hot. Lion. Shape-Shifter hero...😍 Slow burn sizzling romance scenes. Beautifully written, pure escapism and romantic fun on a weird cruise ship filled with witches, goblins, dragons, pirates and all manner of strange creatures/people. Sea Monster. Lucifer.

I haven't read any of the other books in this Welcome to Hell series, but I intend to. I had no trouble enjoying the story for what it was, so it does stand alone with lots of laughs and snappy dialogue thrown in. Loved it! 4.5 stars. Ms Langlais is rapidly becoming one of my go-to authors. 💖

I don’t like the casual way abuse of all kinds is treated like a humorous thing. Mom and dad have sex in the house, in places where their daughter could see (she was a MINOR at the time, mind you)? Oh, how lusty! Said daughter told them multiple times she was not okay with it, but they ignored her? Oh well, that’s how they are. Grandma constantly invades fMC’s privacy? Well, she’s a force! She got her fired because she went to her boss and lied about her own granddaughter sexually harassing her? Well, she needed a break anyway. Grandma cast a love spell, for which she had to steal fMC’s property, without her consent? No matter, fMC is powerful, and can beat a love spell! let’s ignore the fact that Grandma didn’t ask, that’s not important. And let’s ignore the fact that Grandma is constantly belittling fMC because she’s single. And this is only in chapter one. I continued, because none of these people were going to have much page time after that, but then MMC appeared, and he’s a prick. She tells him over and over to get lost, but he takes it as “oh, she’s playing hard to get” and continues harassing her in spite of her saying no multiple times to spending time with him. That’s when I knew I didn’t want to continue. If I can’t stand MMC and fMC is essentially a doormat, I don´t want to spend time with them.

🎧 Audio Review: Enjoyed both narrators! The banter was great!

📝 Story Review: This was a fun, feel good read! On a cruise with her meddling grandmother who has placed a love spell
on her locket, she’s bound and determined to find the locket and remove the spell. Meanwhile, she’s caught the eye of a lion shifter and while they butt heads, it’s done in a fun manner! Now he’s helping her find the errant spelled locket, but his feelings for her are growing quickly and by the time they find it, love might already be in the air! (Also, grandma runs into an old flame and the sparks might still be there!)

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️ 2/5

I've missed this series. I thought I'd completed the whole thing, but clearly some new books have been added. These are just such ridiculous fun. I love the over the top absurdity of it all. This was a fun twist on all things pirate and Davey Jones. Jane's grandmother has decided it's time for her to find her mate whether Jane likes it or not. Jane's just as determined to not let the magicing of her locket take over her love life. She doesn't need to find a mate. Oz wasn't expecting to meet his mate on Lucifer's cruise ship while attending his sister's wedding. But, lots of shenanigans are going to throw these two together.

This was a fun spin on a number of things. All the Wizard of Oz references were all kinds of entertaining. So much of the best kind of shenanigans as Jane's locket leads her on a merry chase. I'm looking forward to having more reads in this series.

Poor Jane, magic didn’t work the way she thought, and she fought it long and hard, before realizing she was never in control to begin with! Honk the horn and set sail because hijinks are afoot on Hell’s Cruiseline. Jane’s grandma wants her to find a man, settle down, and give her some babies to cuddle. A cruise is the answer, and this rom com gives us all sorts of characters, new and old, to stir things up, as Jane and Oz find their HEA. Funny, sexy, mapcap, and fast paced, this was a great listen 😊

Jane Davey's Locket

As always, Eve Langlais has written a very entertaining and fun book to read. Her characters always have the best personalities and snarky comebacks. Jane is a witch and Oz is a lion shifter. They meet on a cruise that Jane's grandmother made her come on and Oz is there for his sister's wedding. The escapades they go through will test any relationship. Love it!

As a long time of this series, to see that it was getting another addition just had me running for it! And I was not disappointed! This story takes places in the same universe as the books before it and it just gets better with every book. We get to see some of the characters from the previous books and the Dark Lord himself. Follow Jane on her journey to get her locket back and trying not to allow magic pick her fiancée for her.

Love this series!

I'm so glad that Eve Langlais is continuing this series! I have loved every single book and rhinoceros no exception. Jane is forced to go on a cruise with her Grandma to retrieve the locket that was spelled. Spelled to find her fiancee or mate. She runs into Oz and even though he is a lion shifter and shifters and witches don't mix, they can't seem to stay away from each other. There are some funny parts and some sad parts and some steam. Perfect!

Meddling family

Jane’s grandmother takes her locket and puts a love spell on it. Who ever has the locket is who Jane is to marry. Her grandmother gets her on a cruise. She gets knocked on her ass by Oz, who is a lion shapeshifter and witches magic don’t work on them. Oz falls for her and wants to help her get her locket back. Who will Jane end up with? Will Jane fight the spell to be with Oz? Come take a cruise and find out.

Hilarious and captivating

This story is laugh out loud funny, with humor and wit that doesn’t feel forced. The characters are entertaining, and the pages kept turning as I laughed my way through each encounter. And the part where Janes dad shows up... 😂😂😂😂😂

Love this series!

My only wish is that these stories would be longer! I read them in one day but I wish they’d go on and on!
The characters are witty and well formed, the plot line is full of fun and I just can’t get enough of the underlying message of acceptance, inclusion and love- even between polar opposites.
More please!!

Funny

Jane's crazy grandma spells her locket to find her a husband she hasn't asked for. To ensure the spell has a chance, GM books them on Lucifer's cruise ship so she's in a controlled setting. Poor OZ is on the same cruise for his sister's wedding. He meets Jane & instantly wants to help her...to just avoid the wedding activities?

This wasn't my type of story, but I do know that the dudes will LOVE it. The story is stuffed full of sexual innuendo, smarmy one liners, and the games we humans play with each other. The plot is way out there, and the premise is getting back a locket with a love charm on it, despite it going to several wrong males, including a sea monster. Read at your own risk. I couldn't finish it.

This is such a wonderful and great read. I really liked Oz & Jane. I liked that Jane is not a people person and how Oz likes her for her. Fun activities on the cruise and the romance is sweet. This is a fun short read with no angst. I recommend it and enjoyed it a lot.

Its an ok read... the premise is interesting, the whole monster/devil/none human entities dating each other is great. I enjoyed reading about everybody's ability and how they mingle in life with their abilities. But didn't grow to like neither of the main characters...

Cute little short story. I picked this up on a free Friday sale and it was a fun quick read. A perfect palette cleanser from heavier books. Did not need to read the other books in the series for this one to make sense.

It was a quick read and cute. The play on words and puns are great.

There was no thinking just popcorn for the mind.

I loved the Lion shifters arrogance, it was good to see it in a character.
