Missing Pieces #3

Finding Evie

Rate this book
New beginnings come at a price...

Adopted into a life of wealth and privilege, Evelyn Berkshire's ivory tower has become her prison. Her fiancé, the charming, newly elected governor of Oregon, is a monster, and she is convinced she will never escape. That is, until she meets the sisters she was separated from at birth, and they refuse to abandon her to a life of hidden bruises and fake smiles.

Through her sisters, she finds the pieces of herself she never realized were missing, including the adorably nerdy former Navy SEAL, Jason Campbell. Evelyn is drawn to his quiet strength, and he quickly becomes the rock she clings to when her life spins out of control.

But when their carefully crafted escape plan takes an unexpected turn, her faith in her new family is put to the test. Can Evelyn trust them to do what's right, or will she strike out on her own and risk the lives of everyone she loves?

Publisher's Note: This steamy, action-packed romance contains elements of power exchange.

This was. at times, quite an emotional read and I found myself not wanting to put it down. Most of the story is tied up in this book, with Evie finding the perfect man in her Daddy Dom, Jason.

One of the impressive things about this book is that the secondary characters still feel true even though this book was written by yet another author. The plot was really captivating, the pace held my attention from start to finish and I really, really enjoyed every moment of reading this.

Missing Pieces is a fantastic series and one I'm very happy to recommend.

There's a lot of good things about Finding Evie. First and foremost, the strength of this entire series is the bond between the newly discovered sisters. Teagan and Rowena will literally risk their lives to save their sister. Also, watching Evie's growing self-confidence as she recovers from an abusive relationship is great.

The downside... the guys get sexist. I get that they're Doms, and they're experienced ex-military operatives... but Teagan is a police detective with the Special Victims Unit. Confronting abusive husbands is literally her job, and the guys essentially pat her on the head and tell her to stay out of their plan.

Also, Evie needs serious therapy. While I like the developing relationship between her and Jason, going from a domestic abuse situation to a domestic discipline relationship is fraught with perils, and I felt like a lot of that is glossed over for the sake of the story. Give the woman some time to stand on her own two feet first, please.

Not to say that this is a bad book... it just has some issues. Overall, I liked it.

Short Version:
Before I get to my review, I want to advise potential readers of two things. First, this is the final volume in a trilogy, and you do need to read the first two, Finding Rowena and Finding Teagan, to understand the back story (how the newly re-united triplets met, for example) and the beginning (this addition starts with a bang as the sisters enact a plan they hatched in the previous book to rescue Evie from her fiancé's abuse). Tip: If any reviewer says you don't need to read the other two to enjoy this, I strongly suggest you check to see if they have. Finally, Evie's abuse may be a trigger for some.

If you're looking for a competently written and edited, mild domestic discipline book where the MMC is not a Neanderthal and the MFC is not a doormat or a brat, then you probably will enjoy this. For me, however, this book was the weakest in the series: the women were depicted as more childish (perhaps because the men literally treated them like children by constantly sending them to bed and punishing them for language -- I kept expecting the guys to start patting the women on the head) and the men as more controlling. Because I've left long reviews for the previous books, I just want to comment (relatively) briefly on four aspects of this one that struck me either positively or negatively. YMMV.

Long Version:
1) The strength of this storyline is the same as the others': the deep bond that forms among three very different sisters who first encounter each other as adults (Ro and Teagan's efforts to make a home for Evie were particularly touching). Most stories in this genre concentrate on the main couple; this trilogy does not. This doesn't bother me since the women are well-drawn and sharply delineated; other readers might prefer to see more romance.

2) Since most of the action happens in the other books (the triplets' first meeting and developing relationship, the discovery that Evie is abused), this entry feels anti-climatic. If you're invested in the romance between Evie and Jason, then you may find it interesting, but, TBH, I didn't find it that compelling since the erotic scenes weren't particularly detailed ("He made love to her" is pretty much it); characters communicated by either screaming or crying (a calm conversation would have actually been a relief); the villain was so over the top that he might as well have been twirling his mustache; and most of the "action" consists of Evie belittling herself while the others try to stop her. Aside: I didn't understand why they all had to hide out in the cabin after spiriting Evie away or what .

3) The men are the weakest aspect of this series. I particularly agree with the multiple Amazon reviewers who called the men "over the top." Rachel Blake, RJ Gray, and Stella Moore have written three male characters whose hyper-concern for their women's safety and obedience becomes very old very quickly, and undermines the book's insistence that the men punish "out of love and concern, not out of a desire to control me or change." I actually thought in several places that they were more interested in controlling than anything else. Their concerns about unimportant things (such as language) amid emotional or dangerous situations were particularly ridiculous:
"It's my woman and a man I consider a brother. You'll do what you're told, or I swear I'll wear your ass out before Luca gets his hands on you. And don't think I won't be telling him about your language tonight."
So, O, let me get this straight: Bad language is more problematic for you than the fact that you just saw a woman get slapped? And don't get me started on Jason's "reaction" to Evie's rightly calling out Luca for his refusal to listen to his wife. Here, I saw no difference between Jason and Branson: both cared more about Evie's failure to behave "properly" than they did about her expressing her feelings. Tip to authors: The last thing you want your readers to do is roll their eyes at the reasons for the discipline, and I rolled my eyes plenty throughout this book.

4) Finally, the men's constant dismissal of and disrespect towards Teagan were particularly misogynistic given that she's a decorated police officer. As I said in my review of the last book: Luca's reasoning -- that his concern for her safety would "distract" him -- reminds me of Pence's rationale for not having professional one-on-one meetings with women; in other words, this is your problem, dude; get over it. In fact, in general, the level of disregard directed at all three women was particularly strong here and not something I noticed as much in the other books.

And, Blushing Books and Stormy Night Publications: it's "rein," not "reign." None of your books ever gets this right.

2 1/2 stars. I added a 1/2 star for Evie's brilliant riposte to O's mansplaining ("I have lived with this, every day, for three years. So don't you dare stand there and lecture me about what might have happened"). I would have rated this more highly if the author actually understood that threatening to punish for every little thing simply cheapens the lifestyle, makes your book very repetitious, and, most importantly in this case, also minimizes domestic violence.

I imagine that there will be a fourth book since this one does not answer questions regarding the triplets' true parentage.

Gah! I still have so many questions. I enjoyed this book, but I’m realizing as I think back on it, there are a few things, that while they were good in the moment, bug me now. I don’t know anything about the dynamics of discipline and the domestic abuse survivor, so I’m going to stay well clear of that topic. It makes me wonder though… I adore the loving protectiveness these men have for “their women”, but there are a few things that are getting to be a bit much three books in. Firstly, their complete and utter disregard for Teagan’s abilities as a police officer. Just what the heck did they think she had been doing for all her years on the force before Luca ‘reined her in’? I quickly got tired of the command for the ladies to “watch their language”. It felt like this infraction was more important to the men than the high emotions that were driving their ladies. I’m rather concerned to note that it’s becoming common across the books, that the men appear to be more worried about the dynamics of their relationships than the people that are part of it or the particular situation they’re in. There are several “too stupid to live” moments, but the author has done a fantastic job writing Evie, showing us her fears and foibles, that I would have been more surprised if she hadn’t behaved the way she does. I really liked the way this story ends, but I want my answers!

Claiming Evie is the third book in the Missing Pieces series. While some may read it as a standalone, I recommend reading them all in order for a better read and understanding. The plot is interesting to see how this security group will extricate an abuse victim out of her situation but with a twist of her own. Evie has withstood more abuse than anyone knows but only reveals parts at a time. She loves her sisters and wants them to be safe but also knows that they want to help her escape the nightmare she is living. These women have found their way together, through fights and all, and their men are nothing but supportive. However, this does not mean that they will allow them to put their selves in danger, and what a challenge ahead these men are facing! Jason is warm, loving, nerdy, but strong, protective, and a Dom through and through. He loves Evie and wants what is best for her. It is interesting to see how Jason brings Evie out of abuse but into a domestic discipline relationship. I found him loving, warm, sensible, smart, and creative but not a pushover. I found myself on an emotional ride along with these sisters. I laughed, cried, felt her pain, the accomplishments and the challenges but in the end their bond continued growing. I loved this story and want more from this story and the characters. With one unfinished piece of information left, I can only hope for more books to come in this series. I highly recommend this book and the entire series for a wonderful ride!

Since this little series began, I've been waiting for Evie and Jason's story. I knew it was going to be an emotional read and yeah......it was. I loved getting to see O , Ro, Teagan and Luca but Evie and Jason stole the show as they should have. This was a quick read, but it was packed full of emotions ranging from laughter to heartbreak. To watch Evie transform from a wealthy and pampered princess to finally come into her strength that she didn't know she had was awesome. If you haven't figured it out by now, this is a Daddy/ little girl story but there really isn't any "age" play. And I think in a way, Evie needed the harsher and stricter punishment more than her sisters simply because she was taught to hold her emotions in, no matter what. It took courage for her to stand up to her abusive ex but she needed Jason to help her shine and realize just how beautiful and wonderful she was. This was a beautiful story and while I know that Jason and Evie are together, I'm now waiting for the next book. Not saying what happens at the end, you'll just have to get the book and read it.

I didn't read the first two books about these "separated at birth" identical triplets, but I'm not sure you need to. It's fairly easy to pick up the story in-between the prologue and the first chapters. I always question the threat of physical correction by Doms towards abuse survivors, but having not experienced that myself, I can't say. Jason and Evie's story was interesting, well developed, but left me curious and not in a good way. I felt the "Daddies" didn't always respect the strengths of their partners. Overall, a good, fast paced read.

Too much

I don’t know.. it was an okay story, a little too over the top on the BDSM honestly... they talked about it in almost every page... subtle is much better, way sexier...and the constant use of calling the guts “daddy” for some reason seemed more creepy than sexy...

This is the 3rd book in the series and I would recommend reading the entire series but could be read as a stand-alone. Evie wants to expose who her fiancé really is and is getting the help of her newfound family. Sparks fly between Jason and Evie and she is finding herself. This is a fast-paced read with loads of drama, steamy chemistry and lots of emotion. I loved it!

MY WORTH IS NOT DEFINED BY THE ACTIONS OF OTHERS

I have waited patiently for the release of Finding Evie, and I can say that Ms. Stella Moore did not disappoint. The story picks up beautifully after Finding Rowena by Rachel Blake and Finding Teagan by R.J. Gray. These stories involve three identical triplets who were placed in foster care and only two adopted and one raised in the foster care system. What different lives each girl has lived, and this third story is Evelyn Berkshire, raised by well-to-do parents and groomed always to be proper and confident.

Evelyn ‘Evie’ Birkshire may appear poised and confident, but inside she is scream for escape, and now she has allied with her two identical triplet sisters, Rowena and Teagan, and a group of men they are involved with and S.E.A.L. She has been with the man who won the seat for governor and even forced into a publicized engagement. Her secret was discovered of the abuse she has suffered at his hands. Now, the night has come, the plan has been set in place, and she is going to escape him with the help of this team. But Evie has one little change in the original plan that will reveal the truth to the public.

The story is a page-turner with what all Evie has had to suffer, her learning to stand up for herself, and her finding the loving support of two sisters and the needed dominance of a daddy in Jason. The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly of people and life, the secrets, the mystery and suspense and of healing. It won’t be easy, having always been groomed to present yourself spotless, no matter how much your insides are screaming. She will learn it is ok to step out of the box and rebel, scream, cry, and forget being a lady if that is what it takes to heal. What she will discover is a human side of herself she never experienced, the comradery of two sisters, and the men in their lives that know when and how to corral them when things get too hectic. Learning it’s ok to reach out, to fall apart, and to trust someone, to let them be your shelter in a time of need—and that includes allowing Jason not only to be her rock, but her daddy.

“You’ve been mine since the moment I met you, Evelyn Berkshire. And someday, probably soon, I’ll have you kicking and crying over my knee as I paddle your bottom. But for tonight, if you want to defy me, I’ll have to find another way to convince you to follow instructions.”

“I like the way you see me. And I want to be the person you see in me.”

Throw three daddy doms and three sassy sisters into a cabin in the woods, and many scenarios will take place. It is an adjustment of personalities, attitudes, control and submission. In the months the sisters have known of each other, Evie has envied Rowena and now Teagan with their DD/lg relationships. But can she have that too? Will she acquiesce to Jason and what he can offer her? Can she find the good in herself?

“Jason makes me feel safe, but that’s not all of it. When he looks at me or touches me, it’s like I’m the most precious thing in all of creation. I want that feeling to last forever.”

The story is fast-paced, action-packed, emotional, and heartwarming. While it is a way for Evie to escape, it isn’t without issues and threats. What about the parents that adopted Evie and raised her—what is it doing to them? Will they forgive her for leaving, for the scandalous way she handled things? Now that she is gone, what will happen? The tale has ugliness and things are not always black and white—the gray is yet to come.

The story has explicit scenes between Jason and Evie, including power exchange, spankings, and sex scenes. While the language used includes Daddy talk, the relationship isn’t age-play.
Hold on readers; I get my wish---the saga is NOT OVER. How could it be? There are too many unanswered questions and coming in February 2020 will be book number four, FINDING FAMILY.

This is the story of Evelyn Berkshire the last of the twins. I like this one and the others, but this one especially because it dealt with domestic abuse and the results and aftermaths dealing with a person who was abused. Where this happens all the time. It brought out the things that people say about what the abuser does and how they tend to make you the one who caused the abuse. Branson Montgomery the governor elect of Oregon was an abuser. He asked his assistant and live in girlfriend to marry him after he found out that he had won the election. She then finds out that she has two other sisters, Rowena and Tegan who had their story in previous stories. Evelyn had been being abused by Branson for as long as she could remember and she was always making excuses for him. When this story begins Evelyn, aka Evie. and her sisters Rowena and Tegan were devising a plan other than the ones that Rowena's husband, Octavious aka O and Tegan's fiance Lorenzo aka as Luca had formulated to excravate Evie from her situation. They had to have a plan because Branson was Govenor elect and had friends in high places and they wouldn't believe Evie was being abused. They planned on extracting her during the Innaugural ball. Everything was set and Branson and Evie went in the room so that he could give a speech and she was supposed to introduce him but she went off script because she had made him so mad he beat her up last night and she decided without telling anyone she was going to show the state who he really was by showing them the bruises on ther back. When he realizes what she is doing he slaps her and then he tries to choke her before someone grabbed her and it was Jason one of the other members of the S.E.A. L's that was the nerd but he was wanting to be Evie's Dom Daddy because the other two Rowena and Tegan 's husband and fiance were Dom daddies too. The plan was to extract her and take her to this cabin in the woods until they could figure out what was going to happen with Branson Montgomery. This story turns out to have a lot of angst and drama and of course sex and romance. I really like reading Evie's story and I would recommend you read it too, especially if you have read the other two sisters in this saga, Rowena and Tegan. This is the third book in the Missing Pieces book series by Blushing Books.

Finding, finding, finding,……… found! This outstanding series features stories that could stand on their own and be enjoyed independently, but their shared timeline and storyline make it best if you read the series from the beginning (Finding Rowena) to get the full “family” effect. The series tells the story of three triplets separated at birth and having completely different upbringings without any knowledge of the others existence until…..(read book 1). This particular book is Evie’s story. She had perhaps the grandest and most affluent childhood, but her present life is actually the most distressed. Engaged to a Governor elect who systematically abuses her in every fashion, she has lost all self-esteem and suffers badly from a beaten-wife syndrome. While her sisters Rowena and Teagan have found their sweet spot in life, finding hers will be much more difficult and dangerous. With the help of her new found family (including the men of S.E.A.L) will she too be able to find happiness? There is tons of action in this book and more than the usual amount of heart rendering romance, as well as a great mix of punishments, sex and aftercare. While all three sisters have now been featured, there still remains the possibility of a grand wrap up that brings them all the understanding of why they were destined to lead the lives they led. At least I sure hope so. 5 Stars.

I enjoyed the previous two books in this series, although admittedly I read them out of order, going back to book 1 after reviewing book 2 without realising it wasn't really a standalone. This one however, really upped the ante.
The first two did a great job, within the stories of Rowena and Teagan, of setting up the reader to really want to find out Evie's fate, so that you were rooting for her even before she got her own story. And what a story it was! Stella Moore did a fantastic job in creating something that was realistic and believable. She did a fantastic job of dealing with the very real issues faced by the victims of abuse, when struggling to escape that scenario, and how the cycle of abuse perpetuates itself.
This was a real page turner and I really couldn't put it down. Also, I was really happy when I got to the end and it was set up to imply that there would be a fourth book to continue the back story regarding their adoption. I absolutely can't wait to read it. Highly recommended.

Evie is one of 3 triplets who were brought up in different families, and learned of each other’s existence when they were young women. One sister, Teagan, was the subject of a previous book in the series, “Finding Teagan,” and the other sister is Ro. All three are accomplished young women, but Evie is engaged to a brutal man who has been beating her, and her sisters put together a plot to get her away from him. In the course of it, Evie falls in love with one of the men assisting with the escape – Jason – and a lot of the story is about Evie developing a sense of self-worth while gradually falling in love with Jason. There is a lot of emotion and action in the story, and a few well place spankings. The story is fast paced and interesting, and with an exciting conclusion. Evie is a really damaged young woman, but Jason is strong and caring, and his affection for her gradually helps her to recover her self-confidence. Finally, we have Evie’s story – Evelyn, the lovely, terrified, graceful third of the triplets. And what a story it is. The courage she demonstrates at the start of the book, her ongoing courage as she effectively has to start her life over again – this book is written with sensitivity and understanding. Domestic abuse is so hard for outsiders to understand – it’s all too easy to say the survivor should have walked away, but, as many of us could testify, that’s not as easy or as possible as it sounds, and Stella Moore has incorporated this. Of all the triplets’ stories, this is possibly my favorite. While the effervescent Ro and the amazing Teagan are absolutely great, Evie took my breath away. There is discipline, there is power exchange, and there is heartbreak – I can’t recommend this book enough.

She needs to be saved and he is the man to do it, but will he give her freedom in the end?

Finding Evie is the first book I have read by Stella Moore so I was not sure what to expect from this "new to me" author. The book description looked quite interesting and like it could have a darkness to it and some dirty fun. As I was reading I felt like I was missing some things since this is the third book in the Missing Pieces series and I had not read the first two before. But it is still fairly easy to pick up most of the background to the story.
The story of Evelyn (Evie) Berkshire and Jason Campbell was nice written and has an interesting story-line. The book is fast-paced and even though it is a novella the characters were nicely developed and have depth. Overall this was an enjoyable book to read and I think I am going back to read the first two also.

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Overall I found both the book and the series enjoyable to read. In the earlier books Evie could come off as a little cold, but the author did a good job of revealing her personality in this book, and I found her much more likable. Jason was a likeable as well. He seemed the least dominant of the men in the earlier books, but in this one his dominance definitely comes through. Evie's story wrapped up very nicely in this final book, but it left me wondering about the runaway's missing siblings from the first book. Maybe I missed the conclusion along they way or maybe it means another book. Personally, I'm pulling for another book.

This book left me saying....NO...I want more NOW! I read Finding Evie without stopping...I simply could not put it down.

I loved this book....I loved this series and it definitely left me wanting more...so, I'd like to tell Stella, RJ, and Rachell that you have a new fan in your midst! Like Rowena and Teagan, I loved the many facets of Evie's strength..as well as admired her willingness to submit and give love another try, especially after the awful abuse her ex had rained on her. The chemistry between Evie and the adorable nerd, Jason, had my heart pounding in my chest each time they were together. Can't wait for book 4. Thank you, Ladies.....now my Terrific Trio!

When I downloaded this book to review I didn't realise that there were others before it but I caught on quickly and it didn't take too much away for me, was easy to read without the first two, may contain a spoiler or two but will try to word it not to.
Not going to lie the whole 'daddy' bits don't do it for me but I saw past it and concentrated on the plot of this book and felt for Evie even if I didnt understand going from an abusive relationship to being ok with being 'spanked' but each to their own in my opinion whatever worked for her and Jason came across as a great guy that loved the bones of her

The saga continues

We've followed the story of Rowena and Teagan, full of excitement and burning passion but the tale of the third triplet, Evelyn, is filled with suspense, intrigue and angst when her sisters learn that she has been abused by her fiance, a wealthy and powerful man who can even keep the police from investigating her allegations. When her sisters come up with a plan to free her from his clutches, it puts them all in danger.
This book, though covering a sensitive subject it very well written and does draw one into the story so if this is a tough thing for you to deal with, realize that it could be painful to read.
WARNING: THERE IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE THAT COULD TRIGGER SOME READERS.

Very good book. Evelyn Berkshire is engaged to marry the governor elect, as she announces Brandon she turns around, drops her cape, and the audience get to see her black and blue back from his beatings. Brandon slaps her on stage and tries to strangle her before Jason of SEAL Security can get to her. They end up taking Eve to a safe house till everything cools down. With the help of her new found family will Eve finally be able to escape Brandon for good? This story includes spanking and dominant men but it shows the consensual and loving manner in which it is done. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Finding Evie is the third book in the series and is about the third triplet Evie getting used to family she has only known for a couple of months while dealing with the dangers of getting out of a relationship to a powerful man and finding love again. I absolutely loved this book; it has love, heartache, suspense, action and humor and the characters are really great, with their differences clear from their interaction with each other.
I very much recommend this book.

These three sisters are just fabulous and I was happy to read about Evie getting away from her abusive husband.
The interaction between the three couples is great and also their chemestry.
Jason is a wonderful dominant. I would have prefered that he was lass daddy, but that is my preference. Great story with veryhot moments.

This is the third book in the series. You do need to read the other books in the series to understand what is happening. Evie has finally decided to leave her fiance. She and her sisters have a plan. She does get away and then they all go away. She gets together with Jason, but they need to find their way through through the abuse she has suffered. I found this to be a quick read and a perfectly paced story. This was about Jason and Evie and how she got away from an abusive ex-fiance. All after finding her identical triplet sisters who were separated at birth. It is a steamy read with domestic discipline as the subject, but in the note added to the blurb it describes it as power exchange. I didn't read the first two books but was able to follow along on this one.

Book three in the Missing Pieces series a well written story that held my interest throughout. Three sisters and the men who love them but are very over protective, no matter what their woman's job is. The story is mainly Evie and Jason, but it is also giving us more of O , Ro, Teagan and Luca. There is suspense, drama, danger a dangerous ex-fiance, BDSM, and romance. I am not sure if this is the last of the series because the ending of this book seemed to leave it open. Out of the books about the 3 sisters I think I liked this one the most. The girls really care for each other and are each others support through everything that is happening to them now. This is a difficult story very centered on abuse and violence. It is sad but I think it is handled quite well.

I love Evie's story! Stella Moore did a fabulous job of giving us a story that deals with something that happens to many people! I physically felt Evie's emotions! Jason was the perfect nerdy Daddy for Evie! And I do love the fact that he is nerdy!

This books gives so many feels and put you through the wringer emotionally! This book should be on your list to read if you don't have it on there or haven't read it already!

Great book

In this book Evie finally escapes the horror she has been living with for three years, only to come face to face with the man who made her life a living he'll. But, in between hiding out with her sisters, she finds herself falling in love with Jason. Exciting ending. Even though these books are not cliff hangers, they do tell each one of the sister's stories in order. Treat yourself to all of them.
