给分较低不关乎作者的观点，虽然完全理解作者急于给出这些观点的动机，甚至很同情这种动机，但是这个写得实在太随意了。其实我倒是很喜欢“世界史坐标下的中国”这种角度，也很希望在这个角度下能有更加严谨，起码是就我这种外行看来还过得去的历史写作吧。

Been reading a lot of Chinese history, but this is the first one laying out China vs Europe at a high level cross hundreds of years, and providing interesting perspectives on why and how things happened. A fascinating read!

这是我很久以来读的第一本中文非虚构书籍，购买它是因为今年在上海的书店里翻阅时觉得很对胃口。这个圣诞加新年的假期，我且听且读地把这本书啃下来了。总的来说，这本书比较好读，就像封面上advertise的那样，它的主题是中国历史，但是角度是1）总结规律，2）在世界史的context下讨论。从20章左右开始，我在iPad的Notability这个app上做了笔记。我的几个takeaway是：1）中国历史大概可以分成三段，夏商周三代，从秦朝到晚清，清朝灭亡以来的近现代化进程，2）从秦朝到晚清一直实行大一统郡县制，并且朝代更迭是主旋律，3）而欧洲中世纪一直实行夏商周三代的封建制，直到中世纪晚期才建立起中央集权的民族国家。

作者对于中国历史总览的节奏和布置很好，看似不是简易性通史，却能面面俱到深入浅出的总结比较。

My first ever DNF. To own a PhD does not equal to “professional works”. The author is so self-important that he doesn’t even bother to offer qualified citations to support his points. In addition, it’s professional to accurately document a history of androcentrism, but you don’t have to glorify it. If you have any basic knowledge of Chinese history, then you can skip this book cause there’s not much new info; if not, then you have to skip this book because you can’t tell false from truth.
