Here’s a book for your entire family, even if your family consists of you, your cat, Calvin, and your dog, Nellie. Bird Songs from around the World is a book with a digital audio devise that recreates 200 bird songs, or snippets of 200 bird songs. The ocellated turkey, (number 4), didn’t cause much interest in either pet, Nellie, was curious about the white-striped woodcreeper, (number 17),while Calvin, kept eating in the kitchen. However the thrush-like wren, (number 60), brought the cat to the table. An Asian bird, the common green magpie, (number 148), even elicited a meow from Calvin. I wonder why? The Austailian iiwi, (number 199), really drew interest from both and number 194, the Austalian golden whistler, made the kitty paw at the audio device.

fgrtttttttt (That was the cat walking on the laptop, why not have the family pitch in.)

While I was a little disappointed by the lack of North American birds represented in the book, the library has many other audio materials to help you identify bird songs. Bird Songs from around the World has beautiful color pictures of all of those exotic birds from all those places the dog and cat and I will probably never visit, at least not as a traveling group. Check it out, the whole family will surely enjoy it! --Maeve

just as well-written, organized, illustrated, and comprehensive as "bird songs" - the unusual bird were fascinating to look at and read about, as well as to listen to.

Got this book as a gift for my mom who loves birds. I love that you can listen to all the bird sounds from around the world. Such a fun, but relaxing book.
