This is a nice little book on crystals for people looking to use them spiritually. It is illustrated with black, white and pink stylized illustrations and some great drawings of suggested layouts, but I really think it would benefit from actual photos of the crystals and the suggested layouts, or at least full color illustrations showing what the many crystals recommended look like.
The book goes into a lot of depth about how crystals supposedly work and things like chakras, along with information on how to energetically cleanse them, charge them, and so on. There are quite a few "recipes" for using crystals for very specific problems (which stone to use and how) but I came away with the feeling that it would cost a fortune to use this book this way as it recommends so many crystals for so many different things, and many of them are obscure ones I've never heard of.
I enjoyed elements like the list of shapes and forms that crystals come in, and how that affects their strength and purpose. While I'm not someone who uses crystals for spiritual purposes, my fabulous goddaughter does and I always find it interesting to learn about other belief systems. I may get her a crystal in the shape of a seer stone after reading about those, as it sounds like something she'd like.
If you're looking for detailed directions for using crystals for a wide variety of spiritual purposes, this will be a great resource. Those looking to learn more about the stones themselves and to see what they look like will probably be better suited with another book.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.
I loved it, what a wonderful resource, I can see myself using this like a pocket guide for my self healing. Well laid out with clear English, not confusing , I loved the tables and pictures that made it much more appealing than your standard guide. Fabulous
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
I really enjoyed this. It covers quite a lot of different things as well as linking crystals to star signs, healing grids and way to use in healing. It's enlightening without being overly complicated and offers something for all levels of expertise
I have only recently started to learn about crystals and I found this book to be an invaluable treasure trove of information and help as I start my crystal journey!
It's perfectly laid out taking you through various stages of learning about crystals, their uses, how to clean them etc, and also has practical messages of little things you can do to help yourself with various crystals.
I found the history of crystal healing to be so enlightening, along with learning about the chakras and the advice to use a journal to see how you react with different crystals was something I'd not thought about but will be using!
Towards the back of the book there are some really excellent chapters of which crystal to use for various situations you may find yourself in - emotional healing, help making decisions, help with anxiety, dealing with negativity, protecting yourself - and I think this is a book that I will keep referring back to when needed to find the perfect crystal to help me along the way.
Brilliant for newbies to crystals like me and also full of information that delve a little deeper into the whole healing world of crystals. Highly recommended! I'm off to buy more crystals!!
It was straight to the point, as well as being really informative. I liked the way it was broken down into chapters from basics to more focussed healing ideas and examples. It's not your usual 'crystal a-z' - it is based more on the theme of uses than the names of the crystals. Although it does have a useful index if you do want to just research based on the names. I also really liked the use of tables in order to make the information more concise.
The illustrations in this book are very modern, and simplistic focussing on the pink/white/black colour scheme. I liked this as it was sleek, but think more colours would have been useful especially when referring to crystals and their colour properties.
The only reason I didn't give the book 5 stars was the illustrations and the fact that I wish the book was slightly longer. This is a really useful book for any crystal lover, and is very unique in its layout/format.
I read this with the companion 10-Minute Moon Rituals and found them both to be very fun and easy. I love books about healing crystals so I was very excited to jump into this book. I have been interested in healing crystals since I was a teen and I was very excited to add this book to my digital collection. I liked that the book provides so many different (quick and easy) rituals to use to get the most out of each crystal, and I am excited to try out some of these techniques!
when i’m telling you i don’t even know half of these crystals, like where the fuck am i going to get azurite that ain’t available at my local crystal shop
plus it was redundant as hell 200 pages with the same bullshit rewritten in some way every few paragraphs…
10 Minute Crystal Healing by Ann Crane was okay. Crystals have been around my family and me my whole life. My grandfather would bring home new rock specimens for my mum on his travels for work. She became a lover or rocks, stones, and their meanings. She passed that love on to me. I love creating pieces of jewelry that have meaning because of the stones I choose to put in them. I have always found the idea of crystal healing fascinating, and I thought this book would be a great place to start learning.
I found some parts of the book fascinating and interesting, and other parts I really struggled to get through. There was a TON of information given, and at times I found it overwhelming or repetitive.
The parts I found most interesting were the chakras (as I do a lot of Restorative and Yin Yoga,) the polyhedral shapes with their elements, and birthstones versus zodiac crystals. Topaz is my birthstone, and it is the only stone on the birthstone chart I don’t like. I have always had a love for obsidian. I found out that is the stone that goes with Scorpio. I love it when things like that line up.
I tried a few of the techniques and this book, and they just did not work for me. I do want to try them with my Restorative and Yin Yoga practice though.
The illustrations were very clear. I wish they had a little more artistic flare around the charts, but that is a personal preference.
Lastly, the resources in the back of this book are fantastic. Several of these sources I have used for years, and they are super helpful.
While I did not find this book completely worked for me now, I am excited to give it another try because there is a wealth of information in it, and I did learn a lot. For anyone looking to learn more about crystals, this book will not disappoint and will answer just about any question they might have.
I want to clarify my stars a bit. The parts I found fascinating easy 5 stars. The parts I struggled with such as all the cleansing techniques 2 stars (although highly informative.) I would give this book an overall 3.5 stars on my feelings and experience with it. For information though, easy 5 stars.
I received an advanced reader copy from Quarto Publishing Group-Fair Winds through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.
I have a basic understanding of working with crystals but have been looking for a more detailed guide on best practices. This is EXACTLY the book I have been looking for! I was impressed to find a solid overview of crystals, their properties, and a more thorough guide to different rituals and understanding how crystals can work in a variety of situations.
I will be buying this book to keep as a reference copy so I can highlight and make notes in it. I enjoyed reading about the history of crystal healing and how different cultures have used them. The book includes a breakdown of specific aspects of healing: divination, meditation, cleansing and intuition.
It also covers the connection between chakras and crystals, and the types of shapes, colors, associated zodiacs with crystals and how to choose them. There is information on cleansing and care of crystals and how to charge them with your intentions.
This is not an index of crystals and how they are categorized so look elsewhere for that. However, I found this to be an excellent guide on how to use crystals for healing and best practices.
I would recommend this book to both novices and advanced practitioners of crystal work.
Thank you to Net Galley and Fair Winds Press for the ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.
This is honestly one of the best crystal books that I’ve personally come across I found it to be very informative and useful. The author does an excellent job detailing the history and various uses of crystals, as well as their different meanings with respect to shape, color and variety. I enjoyed the overall attractiveness of the book. It has a lovely, simple cover as well as a general layout with charming illustrations. I think that this makes a perfect addition to a resource library for readers intent on furthering their knowledge on crystals.
I would love to thank Ann Crane, Quarto Book Publishing - Fairwinds and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This quick little book is a great starting place for anyone (myself included) that really doesn't know that much about crystals. It really gives you the basics and a nice overview of what you should know, be looking for and how to use them. A really quick read - the pink/black is super cute.
It starts with shapes, then color, and then gets more in depth from there. I found the cleansing section to be particularly helpful - I didn’t know there were options such as sound vibrations to clean, I thought water was the only option. Those options make things a lot easier.
It also looks at chakra basics and their associations with crystals, which is a nice layer. Great reference!
I was provided an eARC by NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
I LOVED this book. I always worry with new crystal books that it will be more of the same old same old, but this one surprised me!
I really enjoyed how the author not only discussed the metaphysical significance of crystals, but also the historical, scientific and mythological backgrounds as well!
There are so many incredible meditations and exercises to try in this book and I look forward to them!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me access to this eARC!
Wonderful little resource book, really well set out with clear information, about the use of crystals for healing, covers basics, history and properties of crystals. Ideal for a beginner to learn about crystals or as a useful quick resource guide for anyone. Definitely one I would recommend and also a lovely one to give as a gift.
This book is such a fun and unique guide to the art of crystal healing. It was easy to follow, nicely set up, and easy to implement. I had a great time reading this book and learning about crystal healing.
What a beautiful quick concise guide to the crystals I need to best enhance my life. Great visuals and notes. Highly recommend. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book knocked it out of the water on crystal healing overview. The first section is a great overview and introduction to new crystal healers, it outlines crystal colors, chakras, intuition, crystal care and a brief history. You can get a lot of the introduction information in any crystal book you snag but the way this book had it laid out was unique and engaging.
Now, what really blew me away was the crystal action items in the second part. The book is split into healing for self, for spirituality, for home, for protection, etc. but it includes the most unique crystals and a detailed explanation of how to work with them. Most crystal books take your typical mainstream stones but Ann Crane dives in and identifies stones you might not have ever heard of to work with! I flew through the second half of the book so quickly because it was all new information for me.
If you want a new crystal guidance book, run don't walk. This is it.
Thank you Ann Crane, Quarto Publishing Group/Fair Winds, and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
