This book was previously titled GREAT FALLS PROTECTOR

FINALLY! The guys finally remember who they are. About damn time. They got some serious groveling to do though, especially Tye. He was a major dick to Lera. Coal too, with how he acted to the new they got.
The whole Night Fae thing was cool and all, but they sure did go down easy. One snap of a broken amulet around the neck and everything is done with. Really? Wouldn't the amulet not work anymore seeing how it is in pieces? Anyways...
The ending was nice. Lera got to show River just how much of a leader she can be, and she got her HEA with her males. Plus two new little surprises. There is so much more than could be written in the series though. Like the twins and how the guys father them. Or the new Great Falls academy with fae in it. Or the fae human alliance. Sooo many things I want to see, but none will be written. Boo :(
I really liked the first part of the series, before the quint went back to the mortal world, but Lera got progressively more obnoxiously stupid with every minute spent at Great Falls until I finally stopped reading at 83% left on the last book. I don’t even care what happens at this point, because it won’t be Lera being slapped for how stupid she has become, so I don’t care. Dear Alex Lidell, there’s a way to put your character in peril without making her so incredibly stupid and deliberately stubborn that your readers no longer care what happens to her. Nothing that you had her do at Great Falls fell within that category.
Oh my god. I am so happy. This is awesome. Now I understand why nobody would answer my damn question in the Facebook group. Mystery solved.
No I'm not going to tell you what the mystery is. I'm going to let you figure that one out on your own. But let me tell you, when I read the news, I sent many of my friends voice notes. Just one actually. It had me screaming about this news to all my friends.
So I have absolutely fallen in love with this author. Even my pet peeve about the POV not being POV but narrated, I was able to look past that. I will admit that every new book it graded on my nerves but as I said by the time that it started to bother me, I'd already fallen them in love.
I have to wonder if there's going to be another follow-up to this. I want to know what happens in the future. Like for rabbit. Or coal. I want to see what happens next.
For some reason, the people on Facebook had me thinking that Talon wood came after this series, but the more I look into it it came before power of five. So I'm confused as anything. Which makes no sense because Talon would AKA last chance, is talking about vampires in the New Jersey Foster system. So obviously they're not from the same era let alone the same what's the word I'm looking for, concept?
That's the other thing that kind of confused me with this whole series. I wasn't sure what time era we were working with. Judging by the language, the way things were spoken, I thought we were dealing with like medieval Times sort of deal. But then some things that they said, I don't know it just didn't make sense for that era. Does that make sense? I don't want to say anything that's going to deter you from reading these books. Because I really think you should.
There's nothing worse than being a fan of an officer, and having complaints about that author. I don't want to say anything to hurt the author's feelings, or to stop other people from Reading their books, but at the same time I want them all to be aware that these things are rather confusing.
Anyway so now that the series is done. Because it doesn't appear to be anything following it, I am going to backtrack and read TalonWood, AKA last chance academy, and see what that's all about. It appears to be the genre that I like so why not right? And then I'll be on a hunt for another book series to read. Are you in suggestions anyone? Now that you know I like this author is there an author out there that you know that I don't know that I might like? LOL
And before anybody says anything negative toward it, I read the description of the first last chance academy and in the back of the book, there's a preview for the power of five. And I did a couple keyword searches, cuz that's what I always do when I open a book, God bless my tablet, and I did see mention of quint but not Lera or her quint just you know randomness. So I am going to read it and see what's about and go from there. After I charge my tablet.

I did and did not like this book. I love that everyone finally got their memories back. I feel like Lera forgave Tye way too easily. Yes, he didn't remember her but either did anyone else and no one treated her as bad. Every time any of them did something bad to her she would say she was done forever but then forgave them two seconds later. Also, all her self doubt was starting to get annoying. She had zero confidence in herself but was fine for the first two books but got old fast. I really liked how Katita was not the typical mean girl and showed she could change. I know it is a reverse harem and that there are sex scenes which I don't mind, but seriously some of them happen at the worst and stupidest times! Right after River is stabbed and hostages are being taken? In the library with Shade? I get that she always wants to have sex with them but come on, there are times when other things are more important. Overall, there were things I really loved and really hated about this book.

Always start with the positives: I was really into them. They were fun to read and I'm sad not to spend any more time with them. The heroes are very distinct characters with personalities and backstories and identifiable voices and I really liked them all. The world is very fun and not just a standard version of Faerie. Honestly, 4.5 stars if purely based on enjoyment.
But on to the negatives:
I'll be upfront: the writing in the first book is bad. Dialogue is unrealistic and cringe, the characterization of Lera is all over the place, and the pacing is truly terrible - particularly the pacing of the relationships. It does get better as the series goes on. All three issues even out the further into the series, thankfully. Unfortunately they do continue to call them 'her males' until the end of time, though, so just make peace with it.
The last three books - when the writing is on more solid footing - are like an entirely different series? In which the plotting is better I guess but also more frustrating narratively. Things dragged on too long and the whole point of reading reverse harem - the harem - is missing so it's a real shift from the first four. Maybe even just stop at the 4th, honestly.
But why, why are Lera's chapters in 1st person present tense and 'the males' voices in 3rd person past tense? It's bad and confusing and adds nothing, but Lidell sticks with it all the way through the series.
Also Leralynn is a stupid name and jarred me every time.
Read on KU under title 'Bell of Truth'. By the end of the binge read of this series, I was a little bit over the sex scenes. There is some repetitive phrasing - "thrust, thrust, thrust", "drip, drip, drip". These phrases taking me out of the intimate scenes and had me disconnecting from the characters. Otherwise, this was an entertaining fantasy fae romance with reverse harem ( no m/m) series that held my attention.
I hope not. I hope the author creates more in this line, because I need it!
Overall, we came a long way from the beginning to the end, which I appreciate. So many long running series don't accomplish a lot, trying to drag out a quick read into 20 freaking books. Not the case with this one. I never got annoyed or felt like skimming.
The perfect amount of drama, likeable characters, and good plot. Only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is because this final book seemed a little rushed. Telling instead of showing. Otherwise is was a gr8 ending to this gr8 series!
The first question I had while reading was how come Lera and Coal fuck so often yet no other male says anything? They have surely been able to smell? Coal is still a student and he is a teacher, it used to be a bad thing, and he was punished by River yet now it doesn't matter? Also once a heroine starts to throw up she is usually pregnant. Another thing is all the glistering arousal that kept getting mentioned - and the fact that it kept making her thighs slick... she must be a freaking waterfall. The book as expected ends with a happy end, which I didn't see with all the scheming around. There is one now expected group sex scene... which is great but couldn't we have built up to it? Like every other scene is one on one then bam - multiples ... why not a threesome first? Anyway, it was a good book with a good ending.
3.5/5 - So frustrating how many times the female MC does something stupid and never seems to learn from her past mistakes. This could have been a much better book series (all the other elements of a great book were there) if the female character had been less of a bumbling idiot.
When book four ended and I saw that they were going to go on this adventure with the medallions to alter their realities, I got worried and read the synopsis for book five. Knowing the males were going to lose their fae memories and not recognize Lera as their mate made me so dread the last three books that I considered not reading them.
However, I realize the memory loss served an actual purpose rather than being an overused trope. Lera had felt less worthy than her mates during the first four books. It was never described in any annoying way, but I picked up on it when she would feel like a failure for not mastering her magic. I know she wondered what value she brought to the quint and she wondered if the men loved her independently of the magic that brought them together.
So, having each one of them fall in love with her despite not knowing her as their mate, was a valuable mechanism in setting up their relationships going forward.
I do think this series of seven books should have been condensed. They were each on the short side. The first four should have been three, and the last three should have been two.
I would have made the males, Tye especially, grovel a bit more while I finally allowed myself to stop and feel my rejected emotions, however I imagine the mate bond overrides a lot of that because each member can feel the truth of the remorse and love.
A few reviewers have expressed frustration at Lera becoming stupid or making stupid mistakes, and I honestly am not sure what mistakes she made. She single handedly kept the males safe and stayed true to their mission to try to protect the mortal realm from the corrupted Fae.
I liked that she pushed Tye hard to abandon the Prowess competition, and then realized her mistake there. It worked perfectly for the story - a balm against the different action he had had to take as a Fae hundreds of years earlier in those competitions. And at the same time we know that when Tye regains his memories, he will think back to that argument with the different perspective their mission layers over it. That was a good conflict to work through.
The only thing missing was, I would have liked to have seen the five of them relaxing and talking/debriefing after the dust settled: River and Lera talking about the tutoring and addressing her feelings of ignorance from not having received an education, and Coal and Lera talking about his nightmares. Does their combined magic keep reducing his nightmares? Does he heal enough to begin to be able to snuggle (without losing that badass element he has)? Just - a scene where they maybe relax and drink and talk about their wild experiences of the past few months. And then we can have the farewell group sex scene :D.
Despite only having read them a few days ago, I cannot remember what substantiated the first four books in this series. Not that I'm complaining, I know that I enjoyed them. It's just that the last three books filled me with such a high level of wonderful stress that I cannot remember the prior story arc.
Book 5, Great Falls Cadet, cut my soul up in the best way possible. Watching Lera try to interact with the guys and them not remembering her *at all* hurt so bad. Legit felt like I was being stabbed. Book 6, Great Falls Rogue, hurt in a much more nuanced way. The growing animosity between Tye and Lera wounded me as much as it did her while she built up emotional calluses towards the man she loved but that did not remember her. Book 7, Great Falls Protector, *finally* reunites the squad. They all have their memories back and varying degrees of guilt and remorse for how they treated Lera while they didn't know who she was to them. As they should. Especially Tye. He was an asshole. Book 7 also showed us Lera standing up to Lord Zake (her previous "provider" that whipped her senseless for years) and putting some cracks in the hold he had over her memories and emotions. We also got to see her own up to her shortcomings and her mistakes, rather than excusing it. River saw her leadership potential, Coal realized the importance of letting her in--both for his own trauma and hers. Shade learned how to step back and balance his needs with her rights, Tye learned how to prioritize what truly matters to him.
I wasn't sure that I was going to enjoy the spinoff arc of the final three books, and contemplated on stopping at Book 4, Lera of Lunos, because it tied up fairly well. But I stuck with it, and I'm glad I did.
The only thing I found myself wishing for more of across this series was emphasis on character behaviors and the breaking down of said behaviors. For example, River and Lera butt heads a lot. It's enjoyable and often slightly humorous when they do, which I enjoy. However, at times I wished that the reactions were a bit more severe between the two--really punching in on the moment the scale tips in favor of either River or Lera. I would have *loved* to see a moment where Coal truly lets Lera in and vice verse, highlighting the exact moment that they decide to let the walls down and how that feels.

I am writing one review for the entire series, because I think that makes the most sense for me. I read the first four books and really liked them. The writing was good, a lot of action was happening, but we also got enough time to see Lera’s relationship develop with all the different guys. I felt like there was a clear story arc and we finished with a happy (for now) ending.
Then I realised there were 3 more books (originally published as 9 chronicles) and started reading those as well. My feelings on these are a little more mixed. On the one hand, there were several things I really liked: the writing stayed good, we got to see Lera deal with some more personal things and insecurities (trauma from her mortal life, not being able to read and do math, …) and grow as a person. I also liked that the author tried to tackle the question ‘would these people still fall in love without magic’. On the other hand, I felt like there was virtually no relationship between the guys themselves in these books. Also, Shade got absolutely no time compared to the others. The love without magic question also wasn’t really answered since all of the guys were still pulled to Lera and had visions/memories of her (Riven’s dead wife, Tye’s dead fiancée, etc.). Finally, I was quite disappointed that there wasn’t at least one more chronicle with all of the guys knowing who she was, so we could see more of the quint dynamic and so some issues could be better resolved with more time. Now, I felt like all of the important conversations had to happen within one hour and there was no time for the guys to discuss how the separation made them feel.
However, in the end, I did enjoy reading all of the novels and will probably rereading them again, at least the first four.

1st reading: An interesting end to the series, again well written; however, I feel like this one suffered a little from... Honestly, I'm not sure. I was waiting for the kitten to have a purpose; if it did in the end, I missed it. I did enjoy the angst brought about by the continued lost memories of three of the males - apart from Shade's, who just ends up acting like a prick in my opinion (until he and Lera fuck it out of his system). River and Tye's relationships with Lera are truly tested, because of what they interpret as her betrayal, but which is actually her desperate attempts to keep the mission from utterly failing. I'm disappointed in the added twist of the pregnancy; just... do we *have* to go there? Finally, Katita's change in attitude feels a bit sudden. I know that it's brought on by a crisis, and kudos to her for rising to the challenge and being wiser and more mature than the presumably more experienced rulers also in attendance, but based on her earlier behavior it strikes me as out of place. The author could have done a better job of preparing us for it. We never found out what happened to Han...
I liked these books well enough to look into the author's other works at some point, just not right away. I see that one of them includes a crossover with Lera's quint, so I'll have to check it out. But later.

what a perfect ending to 2020 !! getting to finish this series as my last book/s of the year was such a enjoyable experience and i’m so so glad i decided to pick up these books after waiting years to do so !!!! i was so stressed over everything happening and the suspense was making me !!!!!! i actually ended up sending my best friend mindless rant videos about what was going on because i was having so many feelings that i was unable to keep them to myself!! anyways all the stress and pain this series brought me, especially in the last 3 books, was so incredibly worth it !!!!! the ending was everything i wanted and more, the banter and chemistry and smut throughout this series warmed my soul and i think it’s definitely passed the curse of the gods series as my favourite reverse harem series of all time !!!!! the characters were so fleshed out and felt so real, they all had different motivations and thoughts and i felt so connected to all of them. it was so lovely getting to see from the males points of view throughout the series because you got to understand them better and see their thought processes !!! i just highly recommend this series and i’m thinking of splurging to get myself some physical copies since i love them so much!!
This series went on at least 1-2 books longer than it needed to. The cause of the big issue wasn't sufficiently explained, how they all ended up in the school is still a puzzle. The biggest disappointment is the FMC. At the beginning of the series getting by with determination and luck made sense. Seven books in and she had literally learned nothing, in fact we learn how much she has not learned and apparently, dispute all of the resources available, sees no problem with remaining ignorant. Most of her issues she causes for herself and they are stupid oversights that continued to happen which really dragged down my enjoyment. I'm not picky about spelling or grammar, but nonsensical behavior is extremely annoying particularly when no lesson is learned. The friend was good, the kumbaya at the end made little sense because FMC was hated with no real explanation. The MMCs were good - I can't figure out if the one just never learned, the FMC kept jumping to conclusion or something else but their dynamic was aggravating because it never changed or evolved. The emotional reveal was so confusing and felt a little like Mr. Darcy.
It could have been better but it wasn't the worst.
This whole series was absolutely fantastic. I put off reading this book because I didn't want it to end. But I couldn't keep putting it off because I needed to know how it ended.
I've read one other reverse harem book and it was...weird. I don't even remember what it was called but I wasn't a fan so I was very hesitant with this series. The weird, but great, thing about this series is seemed natural that these four, brilliant men went part of her destiny. It didn't seem forced or unnatural.
The dynamic each male brought was entertaining and different; it never seemed boring or forced. I, personally, gravitated towards Coal and River and I'm not sure why. Tye really reminded me of an adult (mature) version of Puck from Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series (anyone who knows me, knows I'm a die-hard Puck fan). Not just from appearances but from behavior and personality, as well. Shade was great - especially since I love wolves but he was my least favorite and I can't tell you why, exactly.
Obviously, these books are for mature audiences and for those who don't mind reading explicit scenes. But it's one I highly recommend if erotic books are for you.
This was my very first RH series. As a whole I really enjoyed it. There were a few parts along the way that drug out a bit, but the ending wrapped up nicely. I was very pleased with the difference in identity of each character. It felt as if you could truly capture each individual personality in the story. I was a bit surprised that there were so few scenes with all five of the quint together sexually. I really had to use my imagination to get the complete visual of the last scene in book seven. 🤣 I was really happy that there were scenes with Lera and each male individually, sprinkled throughout the series. It was a great way to visualize there relationship dynamics and gave good heat to the storyline.
I think I would have liked to see a few of the scenes where Lera was paired with maybe just two of her males at a time. It would have created a nice little spark here and there.
I also would have liked to find out what the clay disc was in book seven. It seemed rather crucial to the story, yet didn’t have a proper explanation to its significance.

Lira has Cole, and the two of them have been doing patrols around the school. Tye hates her right now, Shade is in wolf form and River has no idea why he has rally in love with her. Lots knows something big is going to break soon. Believe it or not, River has been teaching her without the knowledge of anyone and he continues to feel a connection...what? Who knows??
Soon, all of the human royalties will be at the school for the games, and Lots believes her only chance to stay by the totals is to be on the team. Note to self....never insert yourself where you a truly not wanted. But what's an immortal fae warrior supposed to do, except protect.
Speed forward. Game time and Zake happens to be there to. He's an underhanded work and has been working with the enemy. Show time. So what happens?? Read to find out.
I really likes this series, even with the xrated language. The characters were fascinating. Read on my friends
I’m sad to see it end and I hope the story continues with them!
I really liked this for several reasons. The ending was nowhere where the beginning was, which I appreciate. The plot wasn’t boring but nothing too insane. I didn’t think things were dumb or irritating. And I loved that Lera’s strong, STRONG, personality was tested so many times. I wasn’t feeling the emotional psychs but I suppose those are better than anything bad actually truly happening. I cried even when things turned out well.
I liked the drama, the characters. Coal is my favorite but all the guys were great. Individuals with their own righteous issues and insecurities and problems. I liked how they all interacted with Lera and whatever she was having to deal with. I liked the characters that changed, the ones that didn’t, and oh my gosh but I just wanna put Rabbit in my pocket.
Recommend if you can keep patience for the heroine. Even more so if you dig the plot and vibes.
Crying because I don’t want this series to be over. I seriously adore the quint and love that they all have unique personalities and backstories. And freaking THANK GOD THEY ALL FINALLY REMEMBERED LERA. Jeez that took forever ✋🏼😭. And we were blessed with another ~group scene~. I feel like the last 3 books of this series would’ve been so much better if they we combined into one book, but it is what it is. Also big spoiler for the end here, but I actually really liked that Lena ends up pregnant in the end. And all the males are gonna be dads? Brb crying, so cute. I actually don’t mind the surprise pregnancy trope if it’s done well, and this was a good one! I also want to add that books 5 & 6 felt like a huge letdown after books 1-4, but this book (7) improved a lot, probably because the plot conflict was finally resolved. Anyways, I love this series and I’ll definitely be rereading it at some point. ❤️

So I started book one with no idea what I had gotten myself in to. I read all 7 book in two days. I just couldn’t put it down. The storyline is one that is in the days of horses and Lords and Masters and Peasants. Lera Lynn is a horse hand for an abusive Master. When one day 4 Fae ride into her life. She is to complete their Quint. But a human has no powers so how can she save the new world she finds herself in... their journey throughout the 7 books are of growth, challenge, evil, manipulation, and trust. It’s definitely worth the money and time. The characters are amazing and the author does a great job of building their past into their present and the impact on them as a quint.
Satisfying conclusion to the series. I enjoyed the FMC - she has an interesting story arc. I felt some growth happen. It was nice. I appreciated how she was a fighter and was not a pampered princess. The harem had a nice feel to it, I liked how they were all connected.
I enjoyed the world building. I haven't read many fae books and I enjoyed this one. It makes me want to read more of them.
I'd recommend this series. It reads fast. The story is engaging and I couldn't stay away long. I had to know what was happening. There were emotional moments for me - gut wrenching moments of betrayal and hurt based on the misdirection and drama of the story. I think when a story does that it is a great sign. Maybe you will get the feels, too.

4 stars. Okay look, there are things that I didn’t like. I found some of the memory stuff a bit contrived as some decisions made toward the end. But you know what? The emotion was real, almost visceral. It was a game of frustration the whole way, and poor Lera suffered thanklessly the whole time. But she grew such a spine of steel! Also, the banter was great. It did seem like a completely new series but I didn’t mind much. I’m not a huge fan of “school” stories, so that is probably why I didn’t connect with books 5 and 6 - but I also read all three in a day, so…. They were definitely engaging
OMG! I have loved this story from the first book! The men are all different in looks and personality. Each having their own demons from the past, but after 300 years of fighting together, they are deeply bonded. Their love for Leralynn is truly deep and all consuming even though they try to fight it in the beginning. How they learn to grow and trust together through all kinds of challenges is inspiring. I think every woman ( and man) wants a love like this. Find yourself a quiet spot without interruptions because this story is blazing hot! Bravo Alex! Amazing story!
Yeah stopping to get some while the world burns is a great idea😒
It shouldn't have taken three books because they were all pretty much the same, Lera does nothing useful the 3 books span about 3 or 4 months nothing gets done well except for Lera of course in all that time all she did was hook up with her mates, In all three books no mention of the power of 5, I thought for sure she would talked to Coal about the tablet the dummy broke, she kept getting stupider and stupider as the books went on there are so many things wrong with this book and the end was just as disappointing. I would recommend the first 4 books but the last three are not worth the read.
