What would you do for forty-one million dollars? For Elizabeth Samuels (AKA Sam), it’s not some hypothetical what-if. It’s the very real inheritance she stands to gain if she follows the stipulations in her grandfather’s will when she takes over his family practice. The only problem? The stipulations mean a life she doesn’t want. Terri Anderson knows better than to get involved with her resident. She’s had a work romance before―it didn’t end well and she doesn’t want to be part of the gossip mill all over again. But with Sam, keeping her distance is easier said than done. When Sam considers walking away from medicine, Terri knows she can’t let her make that huge mistake. But changing Sam’s mind means getting close. A little too close. With so much at stake, now is definitely not the time to fall in love. Unfortunately there are some things in life you just can’t fight. A Paradise Romance.
Jaime Clevenger lives with family in Colorado. Most days are spent working as a veterinarian. Writing is a side gig but also a true love. Hobbies include swimming, karate, dreaming about beach vacations, and convincing random strangers to share their life story. Bonus points are given if they include a good romance—whether or not there’s a happy ending.
3.50 Stars. I’m a big fan of Clevenger and her Paradise Romance series, but I’m disappointed to say that this was my least favorite out of the three books. There was still good things here I enjoyed, but it just didn’t hold up especially compared to book one, Three Reasons to Say Yes. You could read this book without reading the others in the series, but part of the HEA for characters from a previous book, is in this book. I believe you would get the most enjoyment by reading this series in order.
I loved the beginning of the book. We are in medical romance territory and I could not be happier. We also have a potential doctor/resident and age-gap romance of nine years going on. Unfortunately, the medical romance feel lasted less than half the book and I think the plot kind of lost its way after that part finished.
I loved the character of Terri. She was a take no prisoner power femme that was only a shade or two away from being an ice-queen. I thought I was going to feel the same about Sam but instead I felt constantly annoyed. She was always whining about how she had it so tough having a job, she was good at, that saved lives and would give her 40 million dollars. Oh poor Sam, how can anyone handle such awful circumstances? I mean come on now.
The romance had chemistry which leads to the characters having an intense sexual attraction and connection. The sex scenes are light BDSM-ish. I liked that there was a good variety of sex scenes and I even liked that the characters talked about their sexual histories and about getting tested. The problem for me was that I could not connect to the sex scenes. It was not the light BDSM I had an issue with, it was that I did not like the power femme as the submissive and Sam, who was so scared of Reed’s kid that she almost peed her pants, as the dominate. I totally get how people can be one way in life and another in bed, but I just saw these two as being complete opposite of how they were written and I could not get into the scenes. I didn’t find the characters believable in those rolls. I’m not saying every reader will have this issue, but personally I did, and because I did I could not connect with the sex scenes that should have been really hot instead.
While the characters has good sexual chemistry, I did not feel any other kinds of chemistry like emotional. Besides being attractive to each other and having good sex, I did not see why these two would get to the level of a serious relationship. And while the book was a good length, Clevenger fast forwards the ending to give the characters an insta-HEA. We are talking Uhaul and even worse after only a few pages. I understand why Clevenger wanted the happiest of HEA ever, even when the characters were not there yet, I just wish she would have let the characters grow together more organically first.
After an explosive start to my summer reading, I seem to be in a rut of books that are just good or average. I’m getting tiered of complaining about things and I really want to gush over a new book. Anyway, while I did have problems with this, I would still recommend it to people who have read this series. If you are new to the series I would suggest reading book one, Three Reasons to Say Yes, instead.
Just One Reason is the third novel in the Paradise series by Jaime Clevenger. Still a very good book but the one I liked the least. The leading couple is doctor Terri Anderson (40), whom we have met in previous books, and Elizabeth Samuels aka Sam (31). The story is in its second part quite heavy on well done erotic scenes with some BDSM elements, and the sexual chemistry between protagonists is really really good. But unfortunately nothing else between them is so convincing. This time the author is not so successful and realistic in leading her characters to their happy ending. As in previous books the writing is technically very good, with all elements done properly. Very readable but for me not re-readable like the first two in the series. For full comprehension, it is recommended to read Three Reasons to Say Yes and All the Reasons I Need first, but not mandatory. Do it anyway, you will not regret it.
3.5 stars, rounded up July 11, 2020 *A review copy of this book was provided by the publisher.*
Terri appeared in the first two books of the A Paradise Romance series but she only caught my interest in the second book when she kinda asks Kate out on a date but ends up firm friends with Kate and Mo, Julia, and of course Reed. Terri was really nice and perceptive about the whole Kate and Mo saga so I wanted a good story on her.
I thought this was a workplace romance. Don't get me wrong, it is. Terri is an attending and Sam is a resident at same hospital and even ends up on Terri's rotation at some point. But the workplace part of the romance fizzles out quickly when Sam decides to take a step back to re-evaluate her career choices and I can't help feeling disappointed that this trope never really played out. Instead, this book took a different turn and it ended up being extremely erotic with some light kink. Well, I don't dislike it, the sex is hot, but this honestly isn't how I thought Terri's story would go.
This is the third installment of the Paradise Romance series. I have gotten so much entertainment out of these books. I love the characters and friend group. That while each story focuses on a new budding relationship, the same characters pop in and we see that they continue to progress in their respective partnerships.
In this one, we get to know Dr. Terri Anderson a bit better as she navigates an incredibly hectic schedule. Her best friend sneakily introduces her to Elizabeth Samuels, who just happens to be one of Terris' residents. Terri has previous bad experience with mixing business and pleasure so she is not interested in following that path again.
But Sam's indecision about continuing her career in medicine when she is so close to finishing, has Terri stepping in to keep her from making a mistake.
There was a lot to like about this. I'm a sucker for character development and growth. There is always so much more depth and satisfaction when the writer can put people through the ringer so that they come out on the other side shiny and happy. Terri and Sam deal with each other's demon's and insecurities. They are there and supportive in ways that they never anticipated they needed or could have. It isn't easy. But what in life is ever easy?
This had many explicit scenes. These two had a lot of sexual chemistry. This series is so strong with relationship development, friendships, and real life family issues, that I always forget about how much sex there is. I prefer my books to be a little bit more on the tamer side, but there was an integral part of Terri's growth that had to do with some of these intimate encounters. So that made it interesting for me.
Overall, this is another great addition to the Paradise Romance series.
I recommend to those who like to read about romance, medical drama, inheritance, family issues, jealousy, hot sex, and solo vacations.
--- I am including a disclaimer that I am 20+ book reviews behind. Unfortunately, that means quite some time has passed since reading. So this review is likely not as in depth as normally would be as it is not fresh on the brain.
I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I didn’t expect much reading this book, but girl was I wrong. I loved it!! I think for me it is the best of the there. Fair warning though. At about the 45% stage of the book it turns into an erotic book. With light bdsm sex scènes and hard sex scenes. So if you are not into that, don’t read this book. I on the other hand am so I found the scenes hot🔥🔥🔥🔥. But that was also because I found the chemistry between the MC’s smoking from the moment they met. Anyway this book took me by surprise and it was just what I wanted at the moment that I read it. 5 stars for me.
1 October 2020 listened to audio. I am allready married, but can I marry Abby Craden’s voice?! Please(hmmm no pun intended...read the book) Abby also looks good but that voice🤤.
The first thing that caught my eye about Jamie Clevenger’s newest novel, Just One Reason, was the simple but very attractive cover. The wave creeping up to the drawn heart in the sand evokes many pleasant memories, and visually sets the stage for a really good romance.
This is the third book in the Paradise series. This novel tells the story of Dr. Terri Anderson and Elizabeth Samuels (Sam), but the reader also gets to see the two couples from the first two books. In fact, part of the plot revolves around preparations for Reed and Julia’s (the couple from the first book) marriage. This is another one of those themes where at least one of the two protagonists does not want romance in their lives. Terri specifically does not want a girlfriend, especially a resident who she will have to work with. She has been burned in the past and would prefer to spend her free time (what little she has) at home bingeing on Netflix. Life and hearts don’t always listen to us, however, and these two ladies must make their way through some angst, misunderstandings and wild emotions before they find their way to each other. And of course there is the little problem of a forty-one million dollar inheritance.
This is a pretty good closing novel for this series. The writing is excellent, as we expect from Ms. Clevenger. The characters are well-developed, and their connection is hot. I have no other words to describe it. I actually connected with these main characters pretty quickly which is a must for me to enjoy most stories, especially ones that are character driven. This book not only gives us an appealing love story, but it also wraps up the tales of the main characters in the first two books of the series. That makes this a satisfying book for those who have read the whole series.
I don’t believe you have to read the first two books to enjoy this one. The story of Sam and Terri is lovely on its own, but if you want to know about all the characters you will meet in this novel, it might be best to read the whole series in order. I can recommend them all to romance lovers.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bella Books for the chance to read and honestly review this book.
Really good book - but quite a weird scenario - I wish someone would leave me $42 million dollars! - But a good tie in with the others in the series. Enjoyed it. Recommended as 3rd in the series.
This book broke me. It started out as a medical romance, okay I can do that. Sweetly butch resident Sam (the name I Love!!) and ice queen, tattooed, comfortably bisexual and twice divorced femme collide in the first third of the book, which is a hard-boiled medical almost romance complete with the overworked medical professionals who have neither the time nor energy for either romance or sleep.
Both Terri and Sam have issues about intimacy and sex. The physical? Been there, done that. The emotional? Get me the hell out.
The second third is pure erotica. Wow!! I was running to the freezer for handfuls of ice to stuff down my shirt (and pants don’t read this). I was really happy the handcuffs were wrapped. And the issue of cleanliness was addressed. A safe word was introduced and the subtle balance of outside and bedroom dynamics was discussed like adults.
God!! Sam is so hot...sorry, what was I saying?
And the last third is the hard-hitting home run that brings all the issues into the sunlight. I don’t want to spoil things , but I was cheering this couple on and I wasn’t disappointed. Communication happens and it is beautiful and sweet, but not without a splash of angst. This book gave me all of the feels and really hit a home-run with thoughtful, meaningful dialogue.
Disclaimer: this book features a D/s relationship but it is equitable and sweet and searingly hot at all the same time.
My rating: five very satisfied stars
I received an ARC courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley and leaving an honest review.
This is the third book in the ‘Paradise Series’ and Ms Clevenger has done a wonderful job keeping not only my interest but I would imagine the many others who've also enjoyed this series. The main characters this time around are Elizabeth Samuels ( Sam) and Terri Anderson. Not only do we get to enjoy their story the author has given us a chance to catch up with Julia and Reed from the first book in this series along with Kate and Mo, the stars of the second book. I really love when an author is able to do that because like you sometimes the book may come to ‘the end’, it doesn’t mean we are done with them. Terri Anderson has worked hard from an early age. She always wanted to become a doctor and now she found herself working while at the same time training the new interns wanting to become doctors like Terri. Now she just wanted to help her best friend Reed, who was taking a dance class to try impressing her fiance Julia. Truth was all Terri really wanted to do was just go home, watch some Netflix and relax before she had to get ready for another day of work. What she didn’t plan on was Reed trying to play matchmaker. She had seen Reed’s friend around the hospital but surely Reed had to remember that she wasn’t going down that path again. She had her full of dating, especially interns. For Sam she was very undecided on whether she really wanted to become a doctor like her late grandfather, but if she wanted to have the forty-one million he had left her, she had no choice. Her real passion was being a photographer. Now all of that was up in the air because she just found out her grandfather wasn’t really who she thought he was. She was more than satisfied with her ‘friends with benefits’ lifestyle. But when Reed asked her to come and take a dance class she was more than happy because it gave her a chance to get a little closer to Terri. No harm in trying, right. Now Terri and Sam were dancing around each other, both wanting more than was possible. Especially seeing as Sam wanted to throw away the chance to become a doctor while Terri couldn’t believe that Sam was willing to throw it all away. She’s a good doctor, she just couldn’t quit. Another great read by an author that just keeps getting better. Very enjoyable read. ARC via NetGalley/ Bella Books
I absolutely lived this story. It was moving and so hot. It had a lot of personal drama that was dissected by both main characters and mostly resolved. It is really uplifting to read when two people are perfect match. This is wonderful book!!
So, One Weekend in Aspen is one of my favourite reads this year and I recommended it to a friend. She finished it, loved it and then went on to read every other Jaime Clevenger book. Just One Reason was the one she told me was a must read, so I picked up the audio version on her recommendation. I am so glad I did as I really loved reading this book and listening to Abby Craden's very gorgeous voice bring this book to life.
Sam was a fantastic character - one that was very easy to adore. She's kind, playful, smart but also very virtuous and I loved getting to know her better. Her relationship with Terri, which starts off pretty casual, was intense as their chemistry was insane from the moment they met. I'm not sure if I felt it more because Abby Craden was narrating, but this book bought some serious heat. Whilst reading, I kept thinking to myself that I think this book had some of the sexiest sex scenes I've read, so hats off to Clevenger for bringing it.
Although the romance itself was a bit simple, I can't help but give this 5 stars due to the way I was completely enthralled by these two characters, their connection and Abby Craden's excellent narration. I highly recommend a listen!
This book.... WOW... I have no words to explain how HOT and sexy it is! I can honestly say that it well and truly made up for the not-so-much spice in the previous book!
The chemistry between Terri and Sam is fire and I loved the connection between them. I enjoyed how Terri was so opposed to dating or even being with Sam in any way but it was clear with the way they looked at each other and the clear connection they have they were bound to get together and Wow, then they do 🥵🥵🥵
The narration by Abby was fantastic as always, I love how she gets into character! Her voice is seductive and sexy and she keeps you engaged and entertained, I never want to stop listening
I 1000% recommend this series and I dare you all to get on Audible and add it to your library!
Story rating. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice rating. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Narrating Rating. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I highlighted somewhere around 20 different passages in this book and it’s very well likely they all involved sex. The sex was HOT 🔥 I found myself biting my knuckles on a drive home once or twice (I alternately read and listened to this book depending on my setting at the moment) but it wasn’t just the spice it was so much more. There was so much held in the sex scenes. Such vulnerability. Such a connection. Such personality expression. Don’t get me wrong. This book is more than sex. The MCs are great. Well developed plot. I loved the book. I just reeeally loved everything the sex held and represent.
This was a successful completion of the Paradise series. I liked Terry and Sam and the development of their relationship. Sam walked away from her residentship because she could not abide with the stipulations her grandfather’s will had for her to inherit $41,000,000.00. Otherwise, if she did not, the money would be donated to a homophobic religious organization. Terry wanted Sam to change her mind because she felt she could be a great doctor. In the process, she came to the realization that she was increasingly attracted to Sam and Sam’s life as a photographer made Sam happy and ultimately, Terry came to fall in love with Sam to the point of reaching their HEA. Let’s not forget our favorite twins Bryn and Carly who were just as adorable in this book as the other two previous books. Love those kids and their moms!
It’s rare that you find a series that has the same characters throughout but completely different stories and themes. This third book focuses on Terri and Sam. Terri is a recurring character in the first two books. Clavenger does a good job at telling a story and painting a good picture. She develops her characters well. This is not a sappy romance full of emotion. While the main characters have tremendous sexual chemistry it was hard for me to feel their emotional connection. This book does feature BDSM. However, I didn’t feel it went too far. All in all, it was a good book. However, the first book in the series was sensational.
I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.
Terri has been burn before and vow never to get involve in a work romance ever again. The vow is tested when she meets Elizabeth but everyone calls her Sam a new resident at the hospital.
Sam stand to inherit millions of dollars from her Grandfather and to take over his medical practice if only she follow the rules of his will. Sam starts to question if she wants what her grandfather want of her especially when she learns some things about the man she always tries to impress and looks up to.
As Terri tries convince Sam she can be good doctor and not to walk away she having a hard time keeping her attraction to Sam under control. Sam wants more with Terri but as she thinks about wether to be a doctor or not she afraid Terri won’t let her in.
This was a good read I like the glimpse of the previous couples in the first two books Reed and Julia and Kate and Mo.
“You’re wrong about a lot of things.” Terri pressed her palm against Sam’s chest like she was trying to hold her back. “I wish you were wrong about this.”
I really enjoyed this last book in the Paradise Romance series. While it's my least favourite of the three, I still had a good time with these characters and their romance. Sam and Terri are wonderful. I like Sam's teasing and persistence, and how she's already morphing into a cute old lady at 31. I loved Terri's stubbornness and vivacity, and her willingness to explore new parts of herself despite being burned in past relationships. They both had their ups and downs, and moments where I wanted to shake them both, but they were willing to fight for each other when it came down to it, which I adored seeing. I especially loved their particular dynamic, and that their D/s relationship in the bedroom didn't affect their disposition or dynamic outside of it. I never like when characters enter into a D/s relationship and suddenly their entire personalities change? Terri got to be vulnerable and explore herself but she also didn't morph into a wilting flower. Bless.
(And I think it goes without saying: like the rest of the books in the series, it's super steamy.)
I definitely wanted more character interaction. Their chemistry was great, and we got glimpses of the more meaningful connection they had, but I wanted a bit more. And I have to say that some of the conflict was frustrating. (I didn't understand how to took Terri so long come around to the fact that Sam loved photography like she could never love medicine.)
I did have my quibbles with the ending; everything wrapped up very easily and very conveniently and very quickly. I did like aspects of it (especially as we got to see the previous couples in the series, and I really adored Reed/Julia and Mo/Kate, and the kids) but some things were just a little too neat. Especially with Sam's parents. The book is a good length, but if we'd had a bit more development in certain areas, I'd have been more satisfied.
Listened to the audiobook as read by Abby Craden, who is an eternal fave. I always enjoy her voice and what she brings to characters.
Jaime Clevenger is definitely one of my favourite authors that I've discovered this year, and I'm excited to get into her back-list a bit. :) I really enjoyed and recommend this series.
☆ For transparency, I was approved for a review copy by NetGalley, but it was archived before I had a chance to access it, because I'm a dummy and a slow-poke. ;u; So I actually listened to this via Scribd.
What would you do for 41 million dollars? All Sam has to do is get through her residency and then take the guaranteed position at her dead grandfather's clinic, and that inheritance is hers. I wasn't quite expecting the type of book this ended up being. The book summary made it sound like a medical romance mixed with some dead relative/crazy will drama. Instead, the first 20% is somewhat based within a hospital background but it's quickly dropped and the tone shifts to dom/sub erotica (with bland butch/femme archetype pairings) and suddenly all any character can talk about is sex and with all the tact and cleverness of a twelve year old. This isn't really my kind of thing. Instead, it ticked all of my irritation boxes--characters who don't have chemistry together and seem to be interested in the other only due to hotness, awful dialogue (aside from the constant terrible sex-related talk, the "flirtation" at the beginning is about as subtle as a kick to the head with the author explaining double entendres), and a plot that only really exists at the beginning and end. This is less about the whole inheritance issue and more about getting these characters naked. When the plot does rear its head, it results in fights between the main characters (which leads to more naked time) and truly annoying and whiny Sam-spiels. Yes, there is sort of a reason she wants no part of this inheritance but it's weak at best and Sam does come off to me at least as incredibly immature and lazy. All of this wraps with a very quick Epilogue which conveniently reveals further details of gramps' will allowing for a HEA--because of course.
Nothing about this book made me interested in reading the previous titles. I prefer plots and well-developed characters.
Going from the blurb I was expecting the story to play out a little differently.
Dr. Terri Anderson is persuaded by her best friend Reed to go to a ballroom dancing class to prepare Reed for her wedding. Reed invites one of her star residents as well. Elizabeth Samuels, Sam, has gone to medical school and is now halfway done with her residency. Terri has a rule of never getting involved with a resident, but Sam has a magnetism about her. Sam is a reluctant would-be doctor, only there because of the grandfather's will. When she finds out some information about his past she resigns and pursues her true passion; photography. Terri and Reed are shocked, Sam is a star and one of the best residents they have had. Terri tries to stop Sam from quitting and to not fall for her, but it doesn't work. She has fallen for her and Sam feels the same, both too stubborn to let go of what they think it's a rough start. I think from about 1/3 of the book onwards their relationship starts and it no longer is about the star resident that left the hospital, it's mostly about Terri and Sam in bed.
I would have liked to have more of the story in the hospital and the fall out from that. Now it just feels like an elaborate intro to the characters without actually getting to know them. It's hard to connect to the characters because of how the story is set up. I felt the book was lacking real development, but at the same time, it was an enjoyable read. I don't really understand how I could find it a nice read when it was lacking in parts I usually put some high value on, but I did enjoy it.
Terri is attending paediatrician doctor in a very busy hospital in Sacramento. Sam is a resident, only having just over a year of training left until qualifying as a full doctor. She is rotating around hospital departments, currently in radiology with Reed, Terri’s best friend, but soon to be in Terri’s department. This is very different from the previous two books in the series. This has a more gritty feel to it; the sex is more forceful and less ‘loving’, the attitude is more aggressive and argumentative, sometimes the story feels superficial, and Terri especially is often quite a negative person. She began to show some of that when she appeared in the previous book, but it’s far stronger in this story. The saving grace for this story is the ending - both the beginning and the ending are the best parts of the story.
Audiobook by Abby Craden. We all know that Abby Craden can do for a romance. I typically like reading my books first then listening to the audio version, but didn't have the chance to do it for Just One Reason. So far my favorite is still book 1. This would probably be my second favorite mainly because it is so darn HAWT! I do think Abby got Sam's voice right, but not sure about Terri. She sounded really uppity and her background is not that. I overall enjoyed and will rate it 3.75 stars.
My favorite story in this series. Terri and Sam have a real connection to each other. Sam have some family issues that she needs to get through and she is stubborn as hell. Terri has been burned before and is afraid to admit to the feelings she has for Sam. In the bedroom they are super hot and sexy. Terri gives herself over to Sam. The trust they share in the bedroom needs to be in all parts of their life.
This is the third book in the Paradise Romance series, in which a group of three friends found their perfect partner, one at a time, with the common point that the couples formed are buch / femme, very stereotypical. Now that I have reviewed how I rated the other two, Three Reasons to Say Yes and All the Reasons I Need, I think I was too critical then, with this one I will have a better consideration.
This story has two parts, the first being the time when Terri and Sam are together at the hospital where they both work, and the second after Sam begins to doubt her future. The first part, with the push and pull between them, has been quite entertaining. The second, after so many doubts from Terri, at some point seems to be resolved too quickly. And also Sam's family issue, it seems unbearable and in the end it is not so much, but Sam is such an honest person that her behavior is understandable, both in the way she commits her life to make her family happy as in her later rethinking.
As for Terri, she is a bit inconsistent and just one word wakes up the submissive in her, a bit cliché the duality between power doctor/submissive lover. But anyway has been quite fun, with the exception of some forced practice in their lovemaking.
As always happens in series, we meet the protagonists of the two previous books, in a very little but sufficient way, it is a bonus.
And for the record, all the books in the series can be read completely independently, they don't spoil each other.
An advanced reading copy has been sent to me by the publisher Bella Books through Netgalley for my honest review
It's funny what floats one person's boat that sinks someone else's. When I was taking a look at some of the reviews here before purchasing, I saw some people saying they liked this one, but that they felt it was the weakest of the series. After reading the second book after this one, and understanding the couple from book 1, I can comfortably say that 1) I have no interest in reading book 1 considering it's going to be dealing with the kids in a much larger factor and 2) I loved this one way more than I enjoyed book 2. AND this was dealing with an age gap, which I traditionally do not enjoy in the slightest.
But the age gap worked for me because the gap wasn't as big, and the younger one was a decently mature age 31 herself. It also helped that the older one, Terri, was the one being "brought out of her shell," if you will. The younger Sam who also was Terri's resident (btw, this book also helped me understand more medical terminology which I really appreciated considering one of my friend's is becoming a doctor and I need all the help I can get trying to pretend I know things about a field I personally don't care about), and Sam pursued Terri with a mindful alacrity.
I also was a bit worried about the money factor, because reading about the richie riches of the world (especially in 2021) can get really soured pretty fast by just one flippant remark of how the other half lives, but I think Jaime Clevenger walked a pretty fine line. Terri grew up poor and worked hard for herself, and Sam was a pretty genuine person. All in all, an excellent romance novel that I'm pretty sure will still end up in my favorites of the year.
I wanted to love this book. I like Clevenger ok as an author, I love hot doctor romances, and I LOVE Abby Craden (who narrates the audiobook). But I didn't love it, or even like it much. What I liked: the sex was great. Not what I expected, but the light BSDM turn in the MCs sexual relationship was interesting and titillating. There is quite a bit of excellent sex writing in this novel. What I didn't like: First, the plot. I don't want to give anything away but the initial premise seemed only carelessly considered and as it went on it seemed both more silly and less important. Second, the characters. Sam (one of the MCs) is immature and needy and impulsive. Terri (other MC) starts the novel as an ice queen and then turns into a total wimp. I didn't like them or root for them to be together and that's pretty much the death knell for a romance.
This is the third and final book of a series of three that make The Paradise Islands romances or something like that as I never seem to remember the exact name of this series. I read the first one and I loved Reed and Julia and their kids and their friends and the sex and the island setting.. you get it. Then I read the second which is about Julia’s best friends and I loved it even more as it’s about traumas and healing, friendship and love. Also: good sex scenes 😁 And now I have just listened to the third one which is about one of Reed’s friend and her love life. And I loved it mostly.
It’s not only that Jaime’s writing gets better and better with every book as I have read her books chronologically, but the story itself was absolutely amazing and wonderful. I loved Sam and that she didn’t compromised who she was in her choices which only made the ending perfect. I loved the two MCs together and how their love story develops. It felt real and realistic. I loved that the book gave some glimpses into the future of the couples from the other two books. And I loved, and this time I mean I LOVED the sex scenes 😁. This book is hot AF. The chemistry of the two MCs is off the charts. The dialogue and the teasing and the challenges they face only amplify the quality of the story.
I listened to it which only made the book even better as narrated by Abby Craden. And I absolutely loved everything about it. Have I said “loved” enough? 😁😜
I can only recommend Jamie’s books and she’s definitely one of my absolute favourite writes in this genre and I don’t have many.
