The Demons' Muse #4

The Lure of the Devil

Rate this book
There's something to be said for being bad. Mostly, that it feels very, very good.

Angels keep screwing everything up. For millennia, the battle between Heaven and Hell has raged unchecked. The souls of humans unknowingly fuel it. That means it's up to us, the worst definition of evil, to save Earth. The problem is that I still can't quite understand why that makes us bad.

Are we sinners? Oh yeah. In the best ways possible. Are we cruel? Only to the ones who deserve it. Satan leads us, Lucifer drives the deals, and Beelzebub destroys anything he can get his hands on. Samyaza holds us together, and then there's Ronwe. My sweet, gentle demon may be the most devious of us all.

And they are mine.

It's taken me a while to figure it out, but I finally understand my role in this. With God on my shoulder, the Devil's voice whispering in the back of my mind, and a legion of demons in my bed - plus these damned angels enslaving humans for their very souls - it's time to stop worrying about who makes the definitions.

Let's show them evil.Let them tremble in fear.Because the Devil can be the hero too.

The Lure of the Devil is a full-length novel with NO cliffhanger ending. This is a Reverse Harem series which includes multiple love interests, some m/m themes, and graphic scenes of sex, violence, and language. Be warned: everything you thought you knew about the world, religion, and death will be pulled apart, twisted around, and put back together in ways you will not expect.

I'm still not labeling this as a reverse harem, because most of the guys have more devoted relationships with each other than they do with Sia.

The relationship drama was less in this one, but it was just particularly grating. I don't want Luke with Sia. I firstly don't believe he's particularly interested. Look, all the other guys at least cared enough about her to not hold her at arm's length just because she's mortal. That actually made me like him less. A lot less, if I'm being honest. Plus, given that we got loads and loads of repeated conversations about Sia having some abandonment issues, I honestly don't know why she continues to make herself available to Luke. After repeatedly shutting her down - a couple times pretty harshly - it feels out of character for her to just continue to hurl herself at him.

Plus, we got this huge, detailed arc of him and Ron falling in love. It was sweet, it was romantic, it was beautiful. But there was NONE of that with Sia (and far less of it with Sia and Ron, too, so I also don't really buy their relationship much either). There's no passion. Just friendship and casual sex. Which, whatever. I like RH. I like when the men also love each other. I just don't particularly like when it feels like their relationship with the lead female is far secondary to their relationship with each other. It makes it feel like they are just a commune of casual hookups, not people in love with each other. And that's what is going on here, with some characters.

So to make a long story short, the relationship nonsense in previous books is still happening here. But there were also a couple of really gross mis-steps as the author tried to force the Luke?Sia relationship, and I had to really work to pretend that dumb shit didn't happen so it didn't wreck the book for me.

Fortunately, there's a lot more plot in this book, and it's pretty cool. We meet God. We get some understanding of the full scope of things. We have a cool arc on Earth, and it feels like we're in the run-up to our endgame. I am totally here for that - when we got into those parts, I literally could not put the book down. And happily, that does seem to be the driving element of the story now, so the relationship drama took more of a back seat.

Another fun installment in this bi-sexual fantasy. Am happy.

But.....

Before I review this book, I just need to say, does the author actually read what she writes? Possibly out loud?!It’s so cringy sometimes!!!!! I literally die because I’m retreating into myself to escape the cringe. Like WOW.

Besides that one flaw I enjoyed this fourth sexy installment in the demons muse series. It was full of revelations, sexy time, cringy words, romance, action, and laughs.

Do expect spoilers. Many of those.

I finally got what I wanted from this series. SOME GOD DAMNED CHARACTER GROWTH. Who would have thought that it would have taken the stiffest most stubborn guy of the group to get Sia to finally let go and accept her blessed circumstances?!!!!!! Not me. And that’s a plot twist if I’ve ever heard of one.

I was expecting Sia to struggle with having five boyfriends who all like each other STILL. I mean, it’s been three books and there was no sign of getting her to understand anything during those books, so my hopes were pretty low going into this installment.

Thankfully she did, and in such an epic manner 😉.

So we go into this book picking up from where we left off with the whole locking Michael up thing. In book 3 we were given a hint as to where the romance was going—which I what I was most anticipating. That being Luke and Nick finally sleeping together, and Bel, Ronwe and Sia all sleeping together.

We got both of those things. And I died.

Firstly with Nick and Luke. That was amazing. I’m glad Nick finally accepts that on top of liking women, he can accept that he likes men—especially Luke. There was so much angst and it’s not like dealing with Luke is easy. He’s fucking stubborn. But thankfully it went how it was supposed to go. I ship their side relationship.

Secondly with Bel, Asia. And Ronwe. YES. Just...YES. After Ronwe learned that god had created him as a trial run and split him into two people who were basically discarded as mistakes, he was quite upset. But then he got some cheering up from Sia and Bel and it was everything.

Thirdly but definitely NOT last...the long awaited Luke and Sia. Finally. Finally. FINALLY. They came together as one. In front of the rest of the group no less. He finally showed Sia that she could be with all of her boyfriends and it was FINE BECAUSE THEY ALL LIKE EACH OTHER TOO. finally it clicked.

Aaaaand it may or may not have ended in an orgy 🤷‍♀️.

Anyway, the plot was good. I loved how she tied in the college scene from the first book, because I didn’t expect it at all! I loved how many revelations we got. And that Sia stepped into her role as Ayala.

Now gimmie da next book!

Finally everyone is together!!! And finally Luke (Lucifer) decided to get his head out of his ass and just be one of Sia's boyfriend and love's. I liked the book I did not expect the whole deal with

God is a woman and Sia is the Ayala and also the devil it took me by surprise and the whole deal with Ron's twin also fucked with my mind but in a good way. I liked the message of this book, that the definition of evil is not always right and that good is not always actually right. Sia (the devil) is supposedly evil but she’s actually a strong, fierce, caring and loving woman, so the whole message of good and evil the book gave really got me and I liked it. I also loved the relationship of the legion everyone is just so cute together! And the scene with all of them together AT THE SAME TIME 🔥🔥🔥🔥🥵🥵🥵🥵 HOT! Now why did I not give it 4 stars well I believe it missed something for ME and it was a little long and sometimes repetitive but, it was a good book and overall I liked it! Read it! 🖤

I’m not sure about my rating, I wasn’t going to star it but then I thought about future me thinking why I didn’t and so I guess it would actually be between 1 and 2 stars.

Steamy scenes were nice, I mostly kept reading just to see when Luke gave up giving bs excuses and even that I was getting impatient.

Once again, there was a lot of REPETITION. Repetition of the belief of what’s good and bad, repetition of Sia feeling guilty about her being with 5 guys, repetition of the guys being comfortable with their sexual orientation.
I felt it getting stagnant until the fight scenes finally arrived but even those fight scenes are getting stagnant when there’s no real conflict or danger going on since Sia can always get out of them.

Oh, the only nice surprise I didn’t see coming, I guess would be what Sia really is lol.
These books are definitely for very open-minded atheist people XD the religious subject is extra heavy in this one.

I’m not sure if I’ll want to read the last book if I know they all live happily ever after. Don’t get me wrong, I love my happily ever afters but when there’s no real issue or struggle to get it? *sigh* I’d say I really am reading these books now for the steamy scenes and romance.....but even that has its problems lol

I had a lot more to say about their relationships but I think I’ll move on and save myself a vein from being popped 😂

The Devil Strikes Back

This series just gets more and more enthralling. It’s so hard to put this book down and actually do stuff like eat and sleep, but it’s a good sized book, so you kind of have to.

There is so much content in this book it’s hard to describe what kind of book it is. However, as this is book 4 of a series it’s a safe bet that if you are reading this review you know what kind of book this is. As always, this author has an amazingly well constructed plot that dances along, luring us away from the real world. It’s impossible not to dive into the worlds that Auryn Hadley constructs for her readers, because they are so beautifully thought out and described. The characters leap off the page and into the world already constructed in your mind and you can’t help but believe in them. These characters are so well thought out with flaws and all that you can’t help but empathise with them.

In this book Lucifer has a bit more of a starring role as he finally starts to get his head on straight after lots and lots of encouragement. We also find out exactly what Sia is and what her role is within the Legion. It’s a bit mind blowing throughout the whole book to be honest! I love the way this series has developed and can’t wait to read the final book in the series.

This was by far the best of the 4 books. The FMC get's a lot more organized with her relationships in the legion. More of the book was focused on the origins of the five realms and the inhabitant. Sia seemed a lot more mature in this book and got out there fix problems and confront her foes in some creative ways. I enjoyed the revelations and humor in this book & had difficulty putting it down. I can't wait for the release of the fifth and final book in July!

THIS. SERIES. IS. AMAZING. I love it!!!! Nick really has grown as a character in this series. You first just see him as Sia’s constant but now you are starting to see more of his character. You see his past hurts and the hurdles he has to overcome. I love that he starts to accept how he really feels about each of his demons. I also love that we are able to see how he’s a little more human and not the perfect protector. These characters and world is just so good!

First three books were better

Okay where to start. The first three books were amazing to the point I can’t fault them. Even the third book where the whole entire thing was based on them figuring out the legions relationship problems with little movement to the plot was light years away from this book. I love the author’s work but she lost me with gods character. The monologues between god and sia dragged this book down.

Oops she did it again...

Sia has barred Hell's doors, closed off Vesdar and has settled into the cottage on Tyrnigg. Heaven is still raging and Earth is in their cross hairs. Heaven runs on slaves and they aren't going to dismantle their entire system because a human Muse has decided her people are off limits. But how do you convince humans that angels are bad? Even if you aren't religious, they're still beautiful and have the ability to control your mind. Those are some tough battles to beat. Luckily, Sia is part of a legion, and not just any legion- The First Legion. The original leaders of Hell. They've been battling angels for billions of years. And then, they managed to stumble across something else. Someone else. And this person has answers. Not comfortable ones, not even exactly happy ones, but they are answers. But that just raises more questions.

Spoilers ahead.
Oh, Auryn has done it again. This was brilliantly planned out and executed. And the little tie-ins, the hidden gems, the "holy crap" moments? Like sprinkles on a mega sundae. It's almost too rich to eat. Sia has gone from questioning everything to learning to fulfilling what she actually is. Muse was just the beginning. The bonds with her legion are stabilizing. Her powers are, well, legion lol. She has the culmination of 5 planes within her. She doesn't think like a demon, a satyr, a human, a fairy or an angel. She thinks like Sia. Like an artist. And while I know the end is coming, I have the feeling that this is another Auryn series I will happily read again and again. I know this isn't as much detail as my usual reviews but there are so many small details, that if given, would truly take away the enjoyment of reading them. And I can't be that cruel. So, I rave and gush and babble happily. And wait for the spoiler ban to be lifted on her group page so we can all rave together. 🥰

This review collects spoiler-free thoughts about the second, third, and fourth books in the Demons’ Muse series.

I devoured the next available three books in the Demons’ Muse series in less than a week, after thoroughly enjoying the first story, The Kiss of Death. Hadley has created the sort of urban fantasy I love, with heroic characters, intriguing multiverse conflicts, and unique takes on familiar tropes.

She also puts the “epic” in this epic series with the length of the installments. The page count is great, but only about 90 percent of the time: When Sia and her legion are learning more about her abilities, political scheming throughout five worlds, and during epic rescues and battles. The other 10 percent of the time, Sia still has so much angst about the multiple relationships in her life. Hadley already did all the work of presenting the reverse harem element of this world as a realistic way in which her non-human characters understand relationships. It takes forever for Sia to get with the program (but when she does, it’s worth it).

I adore Hadley’s twisty take on religion and the role that “angels” and “demons” have played throughout Earth’s history. This series presents a fascinating take on the differences between good and evil, then brings it to the next love with the differences between creation and destruction. As a bonus, some extra surprises had me reaching for the next book without my usual pause in between for individual reviews.

I look forward to the conclusion of this series, and I’ve already picked out some other works by this prolific author to enjoy meanwhile. Urban fantasy and reverse harem fans shouldn’t miss out on this binge-worthy series.

The backstory moves forward

No plot spoilers, no potential triggers.
So, I still don't know if I should give four or five stars. All this way into the series and I'm still unsure. The storyline is fairly straightforward, you get exactly what it promised in the blurb, but I just can't agree on the glowing reviews other readers have posted.
It is not a fluff book by any means, but it isn't a grand epic either. If you are into the Lord of the Rings type of book then this could well appeal, if you exchange the monsters of Mordor for the angels that is.
It is in desperate need of a good editor unafraid of ripping the storyline apart and putting it back together with a more flowing style.
That's not to say I won't be purchasing the next book because I will, I have come so far along with the series I have no intention of leaving it now that it's nearing conclusion.
There are some sex scenes each of them appropriate and loving, including M/M/M/F and every combination therein you could think of the book is aimed at an adult audience, so if you are prudish don't buy the book, and if you do but still leave a granny review about the sex and swearing then shame on you.
Would I recommend the series? That would depend entirely on the type of book you prefer, it's not my genre but it's written well enough that I am prepared to shell out the pennies to read it.

Again, this series has a story that really reals you in. And even if at times it seems to lag a bit, there are moments that pretty make up for the better half of the book. Those moments are the ones that whisper in the back of your mind that you should rate the book with a five star review. All the action in this story drives you to want the next and final book.

Sia and her legion have really outdone themselves and come out with unexpected results. And their little itty-bitty-mother-of-all-creations finally gives the readers a peak inside her mind.
I think one of my favorite parts in this book was the part of the landline call. Her final words and reaction gave me the push for the five stars. It was one of those 'don't-play-with-fire-or-you-get-burned, pretty-little-things-should-not-come-knocking-on-the-devils-door' sorta of moment. Pretty epic in my opinion.
Anyways, I am ready for the conclusion to this series. I hope Luke's puzzle piece in this Legion finally settles in its place. They all deserve their HEA.

Pretty good beginning to the wrap up

FINALLY something happened.. But I won't say what because spoilers. But know that had it not finally happened if have thrown my kindle and not finished this series because I was tired of waiting.
I like how things are wrapping up. I'm really hoping that this doesn't start off great and then the ending is rushed like so many other series. I'm getting used to the dynamic between harem members. Up until this book it seemed to lean more towards a polyamorus (spelling?) relationship than a reverse harem. It feels like the author tried to push Sia back into the spotlight of the relationships whole, which feels a tad weird now since we've spent 3.5 books making sure lines and couples were firmly in place within the group, albeit some were shared. In any case, I'm enjoying this series even with the flaws that work me. Can't wait for the final book to come out.

This is so good!

The series keeps getting better with every installment. It's hard to focus on getting anything else done. I just want to read and then read some more.

What is good? What is evil? It's all about perspective, right? This book (and series) makes me question a lot of things programmed into my brain, whether by my ultra conservative upbringing or dictated by Western society and American culture. Is marriage a prison? Do my religious beliefs make me a good person? Am I really free, just because I've been taught that I live in a "free" country? Are my thoughts my own? Is any of this real? Are we just stardust , temporarily formed into our bodies, before returning to dust? I could go on and on forever, but I'll save you the time by shutting up.

Now, go on with your lives, but consider reading this series. It's so good. I love it!

Oh, Ayala. Oh, Lucifer. It's about time Lucifer got some more character development, and this came at me in ways I did not expect. Beautiful stuff, really. The dragon? Love this for everyone, too.

I feel like I keep harping on the character development, but I found this book YET AGAIN a delightful development of character. I found Hadley's books after several series were already complete, and so while the series as a whole took me a minute to get into, I trusted - and I was absolutely not disappointed. Rich plot, beautiful development, interwoven themes that just keep deepening in ways I was hoping for - and in every way my hopes were met and exceeded. I love this book, and as we get closer to the series' finale it feels like things are actually getting resolved as we go, and I love that too.

Okay, so why did I give only 4 stars to an excellent book? The answer is sex. There was too much of it for me. I really do not see the need for the FMC and her harem to have an orgy in every possible pairing or x-some, thus in some cases sex scenes felt as an overkill. These were beautifully written scenes, just I preferred emotional relationships to the sexual ones.

Now I have to admit that a big part of me feeling this way might have been due to my mental situation. I mean there are days when you need smut in your life and there are days when simple Christian stories are what you seek. So maybe I read it at a wrong time. Maybe.

Anyway, this was a beautiful and intricate story with unique characters and quite a lot of things to mull over after. Definitely recommend. Enjoy!

It was just okay

So this book gave us that big giant scene where all six of them got in on, in addition to being re-introduced to Ron’s angel half and of course Sia managed to get taken again. All in all this was just an okay book, instead of thoughtful insights on sexuality and self-acceptance we were treated to numerous waxings on the philosophy of good and evil and of course religion and free will. As opposed to letting preconceived notions debate against a new kind of thought we were just given stop thinking of it as black and white... it just is.
The next book is set to be the last in this series and I’m quite happy about that, I feel we’re at the point where this has lost its steam.

Auryn Hadley never ceases to amaze me. She has such complex and truly thought provoking plots. I have a love/hate relationship with her books. I love them so much that I hate when real life intrudes 😂

The scope of the world building for this series is staggering. So many events happen, conspiracies are planned and thwarted, and we finally get to see things coming together for Sia and her Legion.

If anyone else was wondering what Sia is? You find out this book and yeah baby! It just makes everything so much better.

The steam factor is hot and never disappoints. I swear I fall more and more for the Legion with each book. I’ll be sad when the series is over, but I’m sure going to enjoy the ride to the end! On to book 5!

Better than book 3

I am really struggling with this series, it all seems so forced and I have been unable to "fall into the story". It seems very " preachy" in trying to understand what is good and what is bad. As a recovering X-Mormon, I completely understand how brainwashed we are and how to let go of the brainwashing from what was supposed to be good but is really bad and a controlling cult. I guess it brings up a lot of what you have to overcome when you understand you were brainwashed by a cult. That being said, this series is written very poorly and it's very hard to stay engaged in the repetition and "forced" sex scenes. I'll finish the series but regret starting it. I hope the finale will be worth it.

I love you but...(spoilers below)

Okay there is no but, this is a definite 10 star like all of your other books. This series is taking a different side of religion. And I absolutely love it.
Every time I finish a book by Auryn, I keep waiting for the next to be either repetitive or just not my cup of tea, so far that is not the case.
I'm not a religious person but you could almost create a religion just off this series alone.
I've also decided that I love demons.

Much love to you Auryn, and I cannot wait to read book 5 and pretty much anything else you decide to throw out way!!

Sia vs the Angels

As the angels of Angelis plot to kidnap more slaves from Earth Sir goes looking for allies on Vesdar and finds a whole lot more when she and her legion seek out the Dragon Muse to see if she has any answers to so many of Sia's questions. It's time to kick some angel butt and Sia, aided with the knowledge of who she really is, now knows exactly what needs to be done.

This book answered a lot of question for the reader as well and now that the proverbial gauntlet has been thrown, Sia is taking names and dishing out the punishment with a side of fun with her 5 boyfriends added in.

Mind blown 🤯

Each time I read a new book by Auryn Hadley, I think to myself that it can’t possibly be better than the last one. How could she top the amazing awesomeness that was in the last book?! But each time I am surprised, amazed, and completely thankful that the work she puts into each book is so complete and consuming. Every time I am blown away with the emotional adventure her work takes me on. I was enthralled with The Lure of the Devil and am anxiously awaiting book 5... Thank you Ms. Hadley for your commitment to your readers. You have never let us down.

Lure of the devil

When you care more for reading a fantastic book then sleep you are definitely a happy person! Sia has come into her own and has become Legion. She finally claims each and every one of her men without regrets or misgivings. Shes found herself and is comfortable in her skin. How she lives each man and they love her is amazing. Watching her fight the evil angels that are kidnapping humans and winning is freaking fantastic! I need more of her with Nick, Sam, Luke, Beelzebub and Rowan!

I can’t get enough!

I absolutely love this series!! Honestly, I think I may be a little bit in love with Lucifer. I’m not gonna read to much into that though...

Anyway, The Lure of the Devil took a twist that I wasn’t expecting, and I loved it! I read this book once, then went back and reread the series before writing this review. I won’t go into any details, because I’m terrible with giving spoilers. Just... if you haven’t read this series yet... PICK IT UP!! It’s such a complex read, but it’s so very worth it!

Love love love

This is one of my absolute favorite series. The world Aurin paints is absolutely beautiful. There is just so much about this series that just captures you and draws you in. Sia and her men are extraordinarily wonderful characters. There is real growth and maturity in each of them. Real every day relationship and life problems among these people that they all solve together to live this amazing crazy life. I will be so sad when this series ends. I truly feel like it could be one of those that could continue to go on and never be dull.

I’ll be pausing this series here for now, not in the right head space to continue but definitely come back to read the last book. Now I remember why I dnf-ed in the first place seems I’m triggered by end of world, death and immortality scenarios when lumped together. And books with “gods” as main characters usually do that. Also, I’ve realized there’s an aspect of Mary Sue with Sia that irked. Also, if she can make skins can’t she change her appearance especially if they’re going to spy somewhere so as not to be recognizable.

Sia and her legion of demons continue to erase archaic personal boundaries allowing them to grow closer emotionally. Also, conflicts with the Angels seem to increase as Sia discovers their plan to enslave an enormous number of humans very soon. The action in this story is exhilarating and keeps you on the very edge of your seat. The physical attraction between Sia and her legion is Scorching Hot, Smoking Hot!!!!! Great Story!!!!! Great Read!!!!!

My God is a golden woman of creation, always has been, this further supports that. this is just such a glorious and gluttonous feast of emotions. Tons of mm (yum) all the rh (5x yum) just a rollicking adventure full of love and lust.
