I have always wanted to read a book of Linnea's May but till now I hadn't found the time to do so. Without sounding ungrateful, I think it's a blessing and a curse to read arc's. By reading these advanced copies I have the luck to meet so many great authors however my free time became limited for the other books that were waiting to be read. Hope, soon, to make up for them and the authors who deserve anyone's attention.
Black Velvet arc came in handy to fulfill my desire of finally meet Linnea's May work. The first impression I have while reading it is her writing style. Fast, smooth, vivid. A narrative simple perfect. It's amazing how the storyline unfolds flawlessly. Second comes the plot. How the life of a high-class paid escort collides with a man's who doesn't share. Interesting, intense, with a lot of dominance going on and steamy-sexy-hot-as-hell moments in the black room, mounting the excitement more.
But let's take it from the beginning. For four years, Elene has been content for working as an escort for a high-class agency. She even enjoys it. Now, she doesn't so she thinks to do something else but she doesn't know what exactly. Madam Barry gives Elene a solution by proposing her to work at the private kink club she's opening. The Velvet Rooms. Elene agreed to be a part but not for the room services. However, Damon had the power to make her use the Black Room more times than she expected, making it their sanctuary for the blistering feeling of intense pleasure he promised to give her.
Put aside the kink and the rawness of the plot and you have a love affair unlike anything you ever read. Black Velvet while has a dom-sub theme common with others has been uniquely approached the topic. The male lead oozes money, confidence, power and sexuality. He is hands down one of the best characters out there. The same goes for the heroine. She is intelligent, independent and self-assured for what essets she carries. I liked how open up she was, the emotions she shows and how she deals with them. She is a heck of a character. I'm so glad I came across this book. It surpassed all my expectations in a great way.
I hope I intrigued your imagination a little and make you grab the book, finding out what's really happening because there is no way to tell you myself. Until next time, enjoy your free time reading great books with the most unforgettable stories.

Elene is a paid escort who can’t stand her job no more. When she gets offered another job, she can’t resist. Meeting Damon at The Velvet Room changes everything for Elene. The minute Damon sees Elene he has too have her, she consumes his mind like no other. This was a great read, I like the characters and there chemistry was scorching.

Boring. I fell asleep so many times reading this. I wanted a fun smut palate cleanser. This drug on forever so they could have a happily ever after. Spoiler alert it was not fun. The majority of the sex happens off screen. None of the bdsm happens on the pages. We do not get to witness it. Also if he wants to stay mad at his parents forever he’s allowed to. Do not forgive parents just because they are your parents. They actually have to change and do better.

Elene works for Violent Delights and is tired of it. She just can't get into it anymore. So she goes to her boss and tells her she is done, she wants out. But that is when Elene finds out that there will be a new business opening up and Elene will have the option to be an Angel or a Devil. You can figure that one out. :)
Damon is a VIP to Violent Delights but has yet to find the one woman that he wants to keep for a while. But when he goes to the meeting with madam at Violet he walks into Elene. It isn't for 6 months at the opening of Velvet Rooms that he finally sees her again.
This is a wonderful story of almost cat and mouse. Damon knows he will lose interest in Elene as soon as he has sex with her. Elene is used to giving the man anything and everything they want. Too bad Damon wants the real her, and she doesn't know what that is. I loved this romance! I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.

This was an enjoyable book from beginning to end. Elene wants to get out of the business she is in. But instead she gets roped into doing something different and that is how she meets Damon. This relationship is nothing like you expect it to be. But in the end it does make more sense with them meeting this way. I absolutely love how these two get together and make things work out. This was a well written enjoyable book from the beginning to the end. I love both characters and the chemistry between them.

Little to no plot, not much character development, but incredible physical activities to get things steamed up. I call it ear porn, but it is at least entertaining. I'll actually probably finish this 3 book series as I've nothing else tee'd up on my audible list soon and I can get these free from the library to listen too so why not. The narrators do a good job so it has that going for it.

Damon and Elene were amazing! I’m glad they had one another! I enjoyed getting to know them! The ending was perfect!

Unfortunately I didn't really care for this book It was a little to predictable and mediocre. Once a hooker wanting a change. Stop hooking after meeting a guy who bought into the club. It just wasn't exciting and really boring. (I didn't even finish) I got to about 64% into the book and stopped reading. I might go back and finish it because I hate to leave books unfinished. But one thing I will say I love the cover. Happy Reading.

Both characters are shallow and don't grow and either of them are very likable. I found myself rolling my eyes more than enjoying the story.

Readers were introduced to Elene and Damon in the prequel to author Linnea May’s most recent series, and in “Black Velvet,” the first book of The Velvet Rooms series, we learn more about this star-crossed pair.
In the prequel, Damon, a regular client at Violent Delights, is called to meet with Madame Barry about an intriguing new investment opportunity. He’s incensed to be left waiting in the lobby past his scheduled appointment time, but is captivated when the exotically beautiful Elene whips past him.
The Madame’s new endeavor, The Velvet Rooms, opens to the parading entrance of ladies dressed as angels and devils – white ensembles representative of the angels, black lingerie indicating the devils, respectively. A strict “no touch” policy was applied for anyone dressed as an angel, whereas those dressed in black were there to offer more provocative outlets for the VIP members in attendance. Damon is disappointed to discover that Elene is off limits. Not to be easily dissuaded, he strikes up a scintillating conversation that doesn’t mask his true desires and intentions for Elene.
May teases and tantalizes the reader, as Damon methodically and mercilessly assuages Elene to the point where the slow burn eventually erupts into a raging inferno. Both Damon and Elene are broken, wild yet vulnerable. Neither of them have ever had a real relationship, and both are taken by surprise by the intimacy that evolves between them. Damon wants to discover and uncover the “real” Elene. Just as things start smolder, Damon is restricted access to the club through a series of unexpected and miscommunicated events, and he doesn’t know how to contact Elene to let her know. He realizes that Elene knows who he is and could contact him if she wanted to. When she doesn’t, he assumes it’s because she considers him as just a client. The real reason is because she was misled into thinking he cancelled their exclusivity contract because she was nothing more than a high price call girl. Elene is a call girl and that's all about to change. Finally she have had it with
playing the game. Damon is rich and there is nothing he couldn't have and that includes women. The problem with that is he gets bored quicker and disliked liars. Elena goes in to talk to Miss Barry that runs the agency and tells her that she is resigning she didn't want to have sex with the men. She also didn't know what she was going to do. Miss Barry might have another job with a new business venture. Miss Barry was telling Damon that she would love to open a kink club. As I am leaving I ask Miss Barry who the woman was that just left her office. All Elene was happy about is that she would not have to have she just would have to drink and talk to the clients.

The club has opened up and tonight would be the show Elene is in white for Angel and he friend Sandi in Black for Devil. Elene meets Damon and she was sorry she was in white. Damon comes back to the club after a couple of weeks and he stills her in Black talking to an older man. Elene and Damon get together but he told her he doesn't want the professional he wants the real her. For the first time in her life Elene had an "O" and she couldn't believe that it happened.
Damon told her he doesn't like to share so he would pay to be available every night in the Black Room waiting for him whether he came there or not. Things started to get heated between them but, she didn't know what was really happening between them. She tried to remember that he was a client and had a contract with him but she was falling in love with him. Then all of a sudden he is gone without letting her know why.

The Dark Room is Their Sanctuary
I only wish I could give more than 5 stars for this beautiful, erotic, emotional read. I can always depend on Linnea May books to be a superb read. The Velvet Rooms is definitely one of the best I have read of this prolific writer. I was gripped and dragged along by this highly recommended must read from the very first page. Elene has worked for Violent Delights and Escort Agency for 4 years and now has doubts about her job and wants to quit. Miss Barry, the madam of the agency talks her into a new job as an Angel in her new venture at The Velvet Rooms. Whereby she meets the investor in the club Damon Graves. There is instant attraction between them but as Elene is an Angel she is untouchable! She is Damon’s greatest challenge a man who never gets emotionally involved with any woman, has one night with them and moves on. To him Elene is a mesmerising mystery and he’s entranced. She’s everything he wants but she is unattainable and will she let him in anyway? But he truly wants to see Elene without her mask that she puts on for her clients! This magnetic attraction for Elene is what she fears! She makes the decision to be a Devil after all! will this be her downfall? She’s never wanted anybody like she does Damon and is very afraid of him rejecting her. Damon has his secrets and so does she. Will they be able to overcome them? Can she show him the woman behind the mask? The connection between these two characters is carnal and euphoric you can actually feel it as you are reading because of this wonderful writers perfect prose.

Black Velvet by Linnea May is a first novel for me by this author. Overall I enjoyed the novel but it didn’t grab me totally. While the novel talks briefly about BDSM it doesn’t go much into that lifestyle. From what I thought it would involve after reading the title I can honestly say it was pretty tame reading.
Elene is a paid escort who is looking to change up her life. She is tired of the same old, same old club atmosphere. She goes in to give her resignation to her boss and is presented with a perfect opportunity to possibly get everything she is looking for.
Damon is a man with tons of money and time to play. He is an investor in a club that is looking to expand into other genres and he goes to talk numbers with the boss only to see a mysterious woman leaving the office. He can’t stop thinking about the mystery woman and goes to opening night to see if she is there.
Elene makes a choice to switch gears in her lifestyle, staying on as just a talking, and no touch companion at the club. She knows she can shut off her brain to be with a man but just talking makes her nervous. Until she sees the mysterious stranger walking toward her.
Elene and Damon are both hiding behind self imposed walls, both awkward at normal 1st dates but give it a go while at the club. But when Elene makes a choice to have a chance with Damon, he is shocked by her decision but goes with it to be with the woman that has encompassed his every thought for weeks. Can they both get outside their comfort zones to give a relationship a real chance?
I enjoyed this novel overall but felt like it started to sag a little in the middle. I probably would have enjoyed it more if it kept up at a steady storytelling pace vs slowing up. I received this advance copy without expectations for reviewing; all opinions expressed are my own. I would definitely give another novel by Linnea May a read in the future.

OMG Linnea May writes one hellva hot story!!! Black Velvet takes you on a surreal journey of Elene, a high class call girl and Dammon, an unsatisfied CEO millionaire. Elene has become uncomfortable with her job after four years but had no idea what she wants to do with her life except get out of the business. When she goes to resign her boss, Miss Barry, offers her a proposition of a new venture which includes a high pay without sex. She has no idea how that is going to change her life. Damon is offered a VIP status for his investment in The Velvet Rooms, a new "kink" club and his encouragement is the chance to see the ethereal beauty he seen leaving Miss Barry's office. Damon ous just as unsatisfied with his life trying to find that rush after something goes right. The journey that Elene and Damon take together in the Black Room is sensual, sexy and oh so hot but at the same time it's scary in the emotional sence due to the fierce connection they feel. Is what they have real or is it just another contract with a client paying for a service?? When circumstances prevent Damon from returning to the club and having no way to contact Elene will he just let her go or will he find a way to keep her??? This is a must read steamy book that will give hope to two lost souls that come together as one. I loved it and couldn't put it down. His/her POV, no cliffhanger, no cheating and a well deserved HEA that will melt your heart. Can"t wait for more from Linnea May!!!

I loved Black Velvet! I found the characters to be very likeable, and the storyline interesting.
Elene had worked at Violent Delights for four years. She made her money doing something she enjoyed....having sex. While her clients consisted of a small list of regulars, she decided that she did not enjoy it anymore, and wanted to quit.
Unsure of what to do next, her Madam Miss Barry convinced her to come to work in the new “club” she was opening called the Velvet Rooms. Though the club was what most referred to as a “kink club,” Miss Barry assured her she did not have to sleep with anyone. She could play the part of an “Angel”, talking and spending time with clients with no touching involved.
That would have worked great had she not met Damon, a wealthy businessman and investor in the Velvet Rooms, her first night as an Angel. Through the sizzling chemistry of one conversation, Damon awoke a need in Elene like she had never felt before.
Elene decides to put quitting off for a bit, and enters into a professional relationship with Damon.
As the feelings they share grow, doubts arise between the two. Is she just another paid woman to him, or does he feel more for her? What happens if he gets tired of her? And how does Elene feel for Damon? Is he just another client, albeit a handsome one? Or does she see something special in him, as she has in no other before him?
I enjoyed this wild ride into the minds of both Elene and Damon. Definitely a very enjoyable read, and I Loved the ending!!

A most physically and psychologically sensual book, Black Velvet leaves a mark on your heart. Both Damon and Elene struggled emotionally in their youth and it has shaped the people they are today. Elene is a high-class call girl at Violent Delights but can't shut the self-doubting voices that bring about the decision that she just can't do it anymore. Her boss, Miss Barry, makes her an offer to work at the new, more exclusive club called The Velvet Rooms which offer more privacy and sense of kink. Damon is a very wealthy businessman whose parents are doing jail time as a result of their cocaine addiction. Damon is so disgusted with them that he has refused to even visit them in jail. His businesses have thrived in spite of them and he needs to prove that his own work has brought about his own wealth. Miss Barry calls him and recruits him to invest his money in this new club. As Damon leaves the office, he catches sight of Elene and life will never be the same for either one of them. The lack of love in their upbringing has given them a skewed idea of what love is. There is an emptiness inside that they are trying to fill, but there is also a fire that lights up their bodies like never before. When Damon is unexpectedly told to leave the club and not come back, self-doubt and heartbreak consume them both. The journey to their HEA is wonderfully written with compassion and hope for a beautiful future together.

I absolutely loved this book.
Elena is a paid escort looking to get out of the business has decided it is time to quit but instead she takes on a new roll as an Angel in the new kink club The Velvet Rooms.
There she meets Damon and he is there because of her. He saw her once and was intrigued when he became a member and an investor in the club it was because he was hoping to see her again. The chemistry between these 2 is scorching and hot. There story is a little unconventional but you have to remember love can be found anywhere if you are willing to be open to it.
These 2 characters are amazing on their own but together they are a super couple that complement each other like peas in a pod. This is a darker read not a sweet story but everyone needs a little bit if an edge once in awhile to keep you going. I loved each word from beginning to end and I look forward to more in this series!!!

This book isn’t dark in the sense I usually expect in these kinds of romances. It’s not the actions that are dark, but rather the emotions that churn beneath the surface. And this author has a skill with emotions that takes me to places I never thought I wanted to visit. Such as the emotional strain a woman in the sex industry must deal with every day. Or the guilt and anger the child of addicts needs to overcome in order to simply function in society. Elene and Damon have enough baggage to sink a luxury liner, but each has the skills the other needs to deal with unpacking it all. I loved watching this pair open up to one another, to come out from behind the walls of their protective fortresses. This time the author didn’t drag me to places I would normally be unwilling to go, but no matter where it is, where she leads I’m more than happy to follow.

Gah! What a deliciously maddening read!
Violent Delights and Balck Velvet collide when Elene takes the job as an Angel for The Velvet Rooms. Forgoing her Violent Delight all in customer days, Belinda Barry owner of both naughty establishments had to do something to keep one of her best girls, also- Damon an investor and VIP member, he would not be apart of it unless the well sought after Elene would be working there.
The frustrating, kinky war of heart, mind, and soul between them is one dark-tinged journey of feels and puddle melting new beginnings. Elene and Damon together - oh my, I swear you could feel the sexual tension crackling between them on the pages of my Kindle!
A one sitting read for me, I struggled with the ' control ' aspect Damon had to have ( but that is because, I am well, me ha!). The rest of this fast-moving insta yum, heart of heart read was in my opinion beautifully written, and I cannot wait for Sandi's Book!

He also doesn't like to share and tells her that he will pay for her to be available every night, whether he shows up or not. He gives her a sexual experience like no other. Elene has a hard time remembering he is just a client. What will happen? When he suddenly disappears without a word will it destroy her? Will Elene find Damon again? Will he want her? Enjoyable read!!

Upon leaving madam’s office she runs into the hottest man she’s ever seen. She leaves the office but the man can’t take his eyes off of her. She is beautiful. Madam has asked him to come in to discuss a proposal to invest in her new kink club Black Velvet. He agrees because he hopes to see that beautiful woman again. Months later on opening night Elene is nervous. She will no longer have to service clients. She sees Damon and he can’t believe he can’t touch her. This begins the end of them both. Their lives will never be the same. This was a fantastic book. The writing makes you feel their pain and insecurities. A different kind of romance but one that ends in a special kind of love. A must read!

I really enjoyed Elene and Damon's story. They had such a connection that, most of the time, it was easy to forget they were escort and client, not dating lovers. Both had some baggage that kept them from letting others see their true selves. With each other they were able to open up, let down their walls, and find what they needed.
Personally, I would not classify this as a dark romance. Erotic romance, yes but not dark romance. I wouldn't even classify it as a BDSM romance. Don't get me wrong, the scenes between Elene and Damon were hot. Just overall, I thought they were pretty tame compared to what I'm used to for a dark romance label.
I am looking forward to more books in this series. Hopefully we'll get Sandi's story soon. I'm also hoping we'll get more scenes from some of the other Velvet Rooms.
