Angel He was the boss from hell. Overbearing, egotistical and rude. He ridiculed everything about me from how I dress, to my hair and even my plus size figure. I hate him. The only thing nice about that man was his outside appearance and damn was it nice to look at, everything else especially his personality was a throw away. Ready to hand in my two weeks notice, there’s a significant shift in his personality. That’s when I see that everything is not as it seems.
Channing She was the employee from hell. Big ass, big legs and big breasts. She was downright sexy and I did everything I could too keep my attraction from showing. It was excruciatingly difficult, but I did it. It was all going so well, until one day she tried to leave me. I couldn't have that. I needed her there. She was the bright spot in my life. My Angel. My everything. If she thought she could leave me then she had another thing coming, because she has no idea just how vital her presence is. I think it’s time I show her just how important she is to my sanity.
Angel's boss has been an ass since the get go, but when she hands him her resignation he refuses to let her go. I loved how she finally stood up to him, but then she ruined it by giving into him way too easily.
This book, particularly the 'hero' had me double blinking a lot - I swear it felt like he was tripping on some special mix of drugs.
I've read books where the stalker vibes have been clear when it comes to the hero, and its worked (although if it was real life I would want the heroine to run), here however it so didn't! Channing came across as disturbed, very disturbed - but the type of disturbed that I couldn't turn away from. The spin the author put into the book near the end didn't help change this in anyway.
I honestly kept reading to see how absurd, weird it could get. The part where his ex comes into the book and it's revealed Channing
First, the most atrocious grammatical errors in a book I have ever read Secondly, the plot started fine, then the H’s behavior became stalkerish and creepy, I almost stopped reading a quarter way through and ask for my money back. It took reading some reviews to realize there is a paranormal twist in the book. It seems in order to keep the plot twist secret the author sacrificed good compelling writing that would have let us know there was something wrong but not give the plot twist away. You need anyone , a 6th grader, anyone to proof read your work, I think you have good ideas but extremely poor execution , there is a sequel that I couldn’t possibly put my self through , no more of your work for me
Uhm why does this book have a 4.0 rating? I started this book thinking I'm gonna give it 4 stars just because of the grammar. 4 became 3 because of Angel. Like sis how can you be so dumb? So you mean to tell me that, she couldn't notice that the house that she entered looked exactly like the house she wanted, couldn't tell that all the things she liked he seemed to know? Even though they barely spoke in the 3 years they have known each other? Didn't see a coincidence that the same day Channing almost lost it when she said she was leaving to go back to her place was the same day she lost her apartment. She has no intuition whatsoever and is oblivious to everything. Who doesn't know that a pair of their underwears are missing? However I still gave it a shot and continued reading it. And then there came Channing. He had me thinking like wow, this book is like one of those ID shows, Stalked, Obsession, I'm Being Watched. You know straight up criminal? I actually felt bad for him. Like wow, this guy really needs a psychiatrist. He may/may not be harmful to her, but he definitely seemed to be somebody who could be harmful to himself. At some point I thought shit I hope this writer does not normalize this in the name of "romance", the man needs actual help. At the end of this book he better be going to a shrink. Then the wolf thing happened and the 3 stars became 2. Now I don't know this author. This was the first book of hers that I've read. So I had no idea I was reading some sort of supernatural shit, otherwise I wouldn't have read the book. I think the biggest problem I have with this book is that the writer tries to rationalize Channing's sickness (which is a real life problem) by bringing up the idea of him being a wolf. In normal circumstances Channing is a stalker and has mental issues. And how he was raised really played a role on the kind of man he became. His mother committed suicide, his dad was a drug addict and from what I could tell he was abusive too. So the whole broken thing could have worked for me and I could have actually accepted the book. Then here came wolverine and I just couldn't. I actually would have stopped reading this book if I wasn't so close to finishing it. I thought 40 pages, no big deal. WRONGGGGG. Back to Angel with her disappointments. Let me get this straight, so this guy stalks her for 3 years all while making her life miserable at work, blackmails her boyfriend to give him her sextapes, buys her apartment complex just so she has nowhere to go but to him, invades her privacy by planting cameras on her, sabotages her job applications, destroys her hotel room in anger harming her in the process, tricks her into marriage, probably sabotaged her pills so that she gets pregnant and traps her to him for life but breaks up with him for 2 weeks? I just need to laugh It would have been more believable if she was made into those characters who are into stalkers. Of which I'm into stalkers, harmless ones anyways. Problem with Channing is he has real mental issues. He starts hyperventilating when he's apart from her, he starts crying and shit at the idea of her leaving him, he can literally kill himself if he's not with her. This is not an obsession of he really likes her, it's the obsession of if he can't have her nobody will...he could be a killer. Who is this Rose Marie anyways? I tried looking her up and nothing came up except for some actress with the same name. This is the dumbest shit I've ever read.
Channing is a hoot while Angel just has to go along for the ride. What would you do for love. If your Channing anything. If you want a quick read this is is a good one. The are some holes in the story like how Becky new where Angel was staying, why Channing didn't just man up after the cooking classes and confess to loving Angel, while I guess if he did there wouldn't be a book. Even still the was a good novella
Well,I am sure obsession doesn't cover what he did!! My,my ... I never thought I could love a stalker, but you cannot help love the man. Where Angel is concerned,Channing has no control, absolutely NONE. He bullied her for 3 years, just because he doesn't know how to act in front of her, and in the background, helping her, stalking her, protecting her... All he had to do is asking her out, because she was already attracted to him. Finally his brother suggested just that! And ,from there their relationship starting taking shape, but what was done in the dark will come to light... Good read!!!
This author seems promising. There’s not a lot of bwwm paranormal romances available so I was really surprised by its addition in this book. The plot is great, the characters are lovable and the length of the book is perfect. I also didn’t mind the cliffhanger because the main character’s story had already ended and a new story was beginning. So why did I give it 2 stars?
The grammar and editing are absolutely atrocious. I usually stop reading a book when it’s this bad but I kept reading to find out more about Channing. I don’t take rating books lightly because writing is an art and I know I would be sensitive about it. This author either needs help with grammar (how someone may speak on a normal basis doesn’t always translate well in writing) or she can benefit greatly from having an editor comb through her work.
I would be willing to give her another shot if she fixes these issues.
The story reminded me of a casserole you create as you clean out the refrigerator. There was a little of everything in it. Some of its content did not mix well with others. I picked through the parts that sort of made sense. Meaning there were pages and pages I did not read.
I enjoy reading books whereas within the first couple of chapters you get an idea of where you expect you are being led (recipe). But with His Obsession, I was lost from start to finish.
This was the first and last book that I have read by this author, this book is just awful. It feels like the author was throw everything but the kitchen sink at the wall to see what will stick. I was getting over the bad grammar, poor editing, and stalking but then the author toss the paranormal element into the book and I was done. I didn't finish the book and I will not be avoiding this author at all cost.
I really enjoyed this storyline, and I loved the main two characters. They had quite a few grammar issues some sentences were written more than once. 3.5 stars
What an enjoyable read. My only issue was the grammatical errors . Other than that, the story was beautiful and I’m hoping to get Landen and Nia’s story.
This book was recommended by UniqueWoods LLC. It was a different twists on my favorite paranormal wolf stories. Channing was a dominating alpha unfamiliar with his circumstances. He meets his soulmate and all hell breaks loose. Luckily she was understanding and completely in love with her man/wolf. Although the storyline was great, there were too many grammatical errors that kept me from fully enjoying the book. Hence, the 4🌟's. If it was possible to give 3.5, I would have because of the errors, but felt selecting 3🌟's would have given the impression the book wasn't good. I will try Rose Marie's work again, but if it's the same experience, it will probably be my last time.
Channing is a bit much....What he did to get Angel would have caused a normal woman to run and hide. Angel was ok for a heroine. I wouldn’t consider Channing an alpha because he was so weak behind Angel.
There were some editing errors that too away from the story.
This book will have you thinking it’s wrong but as you read you’ll think it’s right. The storyline is super interesting it grabs your attention and keeps you reading. The characters are well developed and well detailed you learned so much about their past and the present. I think the author did a great job capturing the overall concept of this entire story.
I can ignore a few mistakes here and there. However, this books grammatical errors killed the vibe! I couldn't even finish it. The author needs to do some very heavy proofreading.
I don’t know how to say this in any other way but this book is hilariously scary and stupid. Like there is no way someone finished this book and rated it more than 1 star bad. I never leave reviews but omg I just can’t believe I read this. DNF @15
What did I just read. Too much to comprehend. I really tried to like this story but too many editing errors and the story started out one way and went in a total different direction.
This may be the worse thing I've ever read. Poor story, stupid characters, horrible writing, and nonexistent editing and proofreading all in one book. I got it for free and I still paid too much.
The editing was terrible. The storyline was beyond ridiculous even for paranormal/ fantasy. The characters lacked depth and the lead female was a stereotype.
I got this book back in Feb and has been trying to read it off and on. Trying to get into it and give the book a chance. But as you can probably tell it was not successful. I just couldn't get into the book.
I think my biggest issue is the fact that Angel was getting disrespected by her boss Channing. Who apperantely is in love with her and wants her to himself. What a great way to go about it, insulting her on a daily basis of how she's dress and demanding she goes home ( which is super far from her ) to make her change.
But Listen, when she had enough and told him to his face that she quit and snap that attitude, FINALLY giving him the middle finger. I've never been more prouder of her in that little span of 2 seconds. But then she drops everything and forgives his sad case of excuses. Not even a little graveling on his part.
He's pushy and mean, which should've been attractive, everyone needs a little bit of that in there lives. But No! Its super annoying and unattractive. But she drops everything doing whatever he wants. which is beyond frustrating and annoying.
I REALLY don't like to give 1 stars but... This was not a book for me, and I just couldn't get into it. Might be a good book for others, but just not my cup of tea.
This story is connected to other stories by this author. Channing is a high powered young businessman. Angel has been working as his assistant for three years even though she actually interviewed for a different position. Channing is hyper critical of everything about Angel....her clothes, job performance (she thinks her weight but he loves her size). One evening she finds him pleasuring himself to an altered video of her where he has placed himself in the action as the object of her desire. Why she didn’t take off screaming I will never know. From Channing’s POV, Angel is the love of his life....he was just too shy and twisted to tell her like a real person. He is in therapy (loved this segment) for his obsession with her. He has stalked her for three years in ways too numerous to detail. Angel called him extra several times...He absolutely was. I really enjoyed his extra crazy over the top but crying and whining take on the alpha male. As I have read none of the other books related to this one, I did not go into it knowing that there were elements of the supernatural. However, this aspect did not take away from my total enjoyment of all things Channing and Angel. ......I plan on finding as many of the supporting characters as possible.
This book was going soooo well. I think I need to start seeing a therapist because I loved how obsessed Channing was. His POV was the best part of this book because he was so adorable in his need to please his Angel.
And then as the book progressed... it got weirder. This book is clearly intertwined with the Author’s previous works, which is no problem, but the paranormal aspect, I felt was just thrown in there to spice the book up. The author just did not developed that part of the book.
Discovering Channing was a wolf towards the end had me like, WTF?! The ending wasn’t realistic, AT ALL to me. It just felt too abrupt, especially when you suddenly have a huge part of the main character’s story not being explored. As a reader I felt like I skipped a few chapters. I love paranormal books, and Channing and Angel’s relationship could’ve easily fit well into one, if it was a full blown paranormal book from start to finish.
The possibilities of how this book could have gone and how much more developed their relationship could’ve gotten are endless and it just sucks because this book had such potential. Channing was quickly becoming a book bae.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I hate trashing books because of grammar and spelling. So just upfront: if loads of slip-ups get you out of the flow of the story, then this book isn’t for you. If you’re willing to overlook these, and try to see where the author is trying to take us, then you might be impressed.
Spoilerish Have you ever wondered, what happens to those born into shifter families but can’t shift? Yeah that’s what this book is about. I hated the first bit of this book, with Channing being straight up stalker and excusing it to himself. I loved that our heroine thought and said everything we’ve wanted to say/ scream at many a romance heroine for a while. Abuse doesn’t equal love and I’m glad our heroine got to say her piece. Even though the unwritten rules of the paranormal genre excuse stalkerish behavior (and lead us readers to expect it). Which is a helluva thing for Rose Marie to be calling out.
The ending felt rushed, tying up loose ends and connecting to other books. There are better ways to do that world-building, and there are authors who do so more elegantly.
It needs work because there were so many mistakes. Sooooooo many that they were distracting and made me go back and read it 3 times to understand what the writer meant. A lot of the errors are repeat in words like: “My family has dealt with powerful men before like you before.” This is not a big deal but every paragraph had issues like this from beginning to end. Real messy.
Opinion: The story is kind of juvenile but it’s an ok story if you can get past the one of the protagonists being a psycho. Nothing about how it’s written says “alpha male”, just red flags and crazy guy. It was annoying that it followed the usual formula of wealthy man does horrible things; woman excuses behavior; kidnapping; oblivious woman; expected/unexpected pregnancy. Also, it took so long to get to the shifter angle.
Rose Marie always puts out fire ass books omg ok, first off I'm a sucker for love hate relationships and this one was off the charts, his love for Angel was just so damn sexy, he was so obsessed the videos perfume house stalking, and the sex scenes and masturbating scenes was hot as hell I couldn't put this book down and I cant wait for book 2 with landen and Nia, but this book is a 10/10 the characters even the side characters were amazing the supernatural twist that I felt was accurate, this book was just what i needed i will definitely read everything she puts pi ut as well as recommend btw if you have not read the Irish Don's series then ur kissing out on that as well just saying, anyway cant wait for book 2
While reading I felt a lot of emotions. Anger at Channing for being an ass of a boss. Sadness and frustration for Angel who was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Creepy and disgust that a person with money could do the things he did while stalking someone he loved. Finally I felt an understanding about his obsessive love for Angel. All of these emotions and I still couldn’t stop and put this story down. I was also pleasantly surprised to see characters from the two prequel books I had already read. I can hardly wait to read the story of Nia. Also please find someone to help with the proofreading of your stories. It saddens me to come upon so many errors in a story that I enjoy reading.
Granted this is a good book but my goodness the errors, grammatically and spelling, were annoying. It was twice as hard to concentrate on the storyline when there are missing words or words on the wrong place.
With that out of the way, Channing was frickin crazy. Towards the end of the book it made a tad bit of sense. The first introduction to Angel, I knew she was going to be a hoot and she did not disappoint.
If the proofreading has improved, I might be interested in Landen and Nia's story.
