“With Lure, Nils Michals extends to us a world of radiant detail―sometimes the world feels painfully beautiful―and eerie inner song. Moving between quietly charged description and sweeps of anguish and abrupt joy, Michals is always aware of how his attention treads on the landscapes and people it follows.” ―Joanna Klink
This is one of my top-five books of all time; that's quite a statement for me, as all I seem to do is read. I met Nils in 2006, and read his book shortly after meeting him. Various poems of Nils' have made me cry, yell, stomp around the house, slam doors, et cetera. I've thought of getting lines of his tattooed on me somewhere. This book is emotionally draining, in the best possible way.
