Faith Wilford is a single mom whose worked hard to become the Human Resources manager of her company. Her friend William got her the job when she was in a low point in her life. But one day, her manager calls her in and asks her for a favor.
He wants her to be fake engaged to him!
He says that everyone in the office thinks they’re together anyways so why not have a laugh. What he doesn’t mention is he’s been secretly in love with Faith for a long time and this is just his way of getting close to her.
Oh my God! This white boy is crazy in the head! But he’s also crazy fine and crazy good in bed. Add to that he’s her best friend and basically a father to her daughter, Ayana.
There’s just one problem. William’s parents are super racist.
That’s right. They’re old old money. And they don’t approve of a black woman from a poor background marrying into the family. Will their love be able to overcome the bigotry? Or will it be smothered by intolerance?
Tyla Walker has always been a writer, ask anyone who’s ever met her. Growing up in Georgia, she spent every summer barbecue weaving wild stories. Her momma always encouraged her, and she couldn’t have done it without her.
Tyla writes hot and fun romances, inspired by her own relationship. Her husband reads all her stories and helps her figure out the spice and action.
I had several issues with this book, but overall I like it and I really enjoy reading about William.
I really enjoy William Personality. He is Loyal, Fun, Funny, and someone who will go over and beyond for his woman. He will stand up for her and beside her, and will not allow anyone, parents included, to talk bad about her. He is really someone you cannot help but enjoy reading about.
Now Faith, when she is around William she is fun and funny as well. Their relationship is a joy to read about, and really makes your day. But when she's not around him you see another side of her that really kind of sucks.
I feel that Faith is a push over. She as a character, by herself... a part of her personality, which is what I'm trying to say. Is a push over, someone who cries and gives up very easily. In most of the book she is frustrating and annoying to the point where you kind of want to stop reading. But thanks to William, I continue to read the book. Honestly if it wasn't for him I would have most likely not continue reading.
There is a scene that I find straight disgusting and I could've went without reading it. This scene right here,
"William's saliva flows in my mouth, and I can taste it. Is his saliva an alcoholic beverage? Why is it that I feel like I'm drunk, and greedily sucking on it. He makes me feel euphoric!"
That is one scene I would've been GLAD to have NEVER read. To me it was took much. I actually shouted " EW! WTF! Disgusting" I see what the author was trying to go with that but no. It was not going that way. That visual was nasty. Just no. This most deff fell short with me, and i felt like it was just a TMI moment.
There are other scenes that makes you laugh and have you shouting " Just Kiss Her Already!" lol I couldn't help but root for William. Even though Faith was clearly shouting friend zone to him, he wasn't giving up and I actually like it. You cannot help but want him to get the girl he loves, his personality is just something you cannot help but love.
I did have questions that wasn't address in the book. One most important one is, what happen in the past that William did, that he needed to be forgiven for? It a scene where his father tells him that if he keeps up the good work his past could be put behind them. I was hoping the author would say what it was, it seem like a big huge secret. But that doesn't seem to be the case, since it was never mention again, or brought up.
There are other questions that I had on a couple of things that happen, that wasn't answer by the end of the book, But since the book ended so sweetly, I guess it wasn't too important.
This is a sweet love story, with A LOT of frustration on my end with Faith. Its a good book to read, but I do warn readers you may feel some annoyance towards the Main Female Lead Faith.
Love this story to much,if you're in love nothing can't stop you you being together not even your own parents. Love William telling his parents they can't stop him for who to love. Ayana is the beauty of this story for me,when she said mummy I heard you and uncle William praying to God. Awesome finished.
This story seems as if it were written by a child. It was riddled with grammatical errors, and spelling mistakes. A complete lack of proper flow and description made this hard to finish.
I really enjoyed reading this. William was finally able to show the woman he loved how he felt. Even though Faith thought it was pretend she realized that she loved William just as much and took the risk.
