This is definitely an important addition to a rich tradition of Marathi literature. I'm not aware of any other Marathi novel which has canvas of 800 odd years hence this fact alone makes it a must read if you're into Marathi literature.

I thoroughly enjoyed the exploration of themes like human migration and racial supremacy in the context of the culture of Maharashtra. I can't comment on the anthropological discourse which is scattered throughout the book but it does raise some interesting points which readers can explore further. Some of the characters seem to lack depth but given the scope of the subject it's not surprising.

I think this book is going to be viewed as a classic like Mrityunjay and Hindu.

An epic novel by Maharashtrian author which covers history of his ancestors for previous 800 years. The Book is exactly finished at 796 Page. ( 7 Patil his surname and 96 Kuli in maratha ). It was a roller coaster ride to read such novel. You will get a good experience to read a book.

Expansive scope of 7oo years - but the novel seems to be spread too thin; rather it's a collection of seven loosely coupled novellas across generations. At times it reminds you of Hindu with references to Afghanistan, Mahanubhav sect and how the Indian subcontinent is astonishingly well-knit (and not to forget some Kosala's fatalistic observations) - yet, it mostly disappoints on the depth and lack of ambition to seek it (except maybe for the few pages of rumination at the beginning and at the end).

An important contribution to the study of anthropology. Though the novel may sound fictional its content and storyline seem very real.

A must read if you have read and liked Bhalchandra Nemade's "Hindu- Jagnyachi ek samruddha adgal"

The novel commences with the invasion of Devagiri by Alauddin Khilji in 1289 and traces the lineage of the Pate family, later known as the Pathare clan, through seven generations. Each generation's protagonist offers a window into the socio-political and cultural milieu of their time, providing readers with a panoramic view of historical events and personal narratives.
Pathare's storytelling is both expansive and intimate, weaving historical events with personal anecdotes to explore the fluidity of human emotions and sentiments. The novel delves into the essence of what it means to be a Maratha, challenging notions of caste purity and highlighting the intermingling of various communities over centuries.
