This book is a collection of poems where the author has try to jot down her personal experience and hardships. The book has been divided into four section - Restless, Friction, Reflection and Passage. Each of them gives a unique insight of author's journey and feelings. She has talked about immigration and loss in sense of familiarity she faced while moving from South Africa to Australia. The line from the poem Caterpillar "As long as I am made of blood and ribs I can build a life with bone and marrow" touched me. Some of the poems which I loved the most are
Immigrant
Caterpillar
In the End
If I Was A Map
Every one of the poems are deeply touching and shows a lot about author's ingeniousity and command over words. I liked that all the poems gave a sense of personal touch and felt like a journey. The author's art of conveying her feelings through the wordplay of poems is to be admired and praised. One of the key point of the poems were that the language used was simple which I prefer as it doesn't break the flow while reading to look for meaning. The cover of the book is beautiful. Highly recommended..
