Welcome to Deepwood, Oregon, a cozy town of witches, magic, and now, murder…
Veri Leveau lived a long, magical life before settling in the friendly town of Deepwood. Now she spends her days helping women find their inner goddesses, indulging in the most divine donuts on the planet, and practicing the Craft with her witch sisters. Everything seems downright perfect until her mind is invaded with visions of murder. A supernatural serial killer is hunting witches, and she’s next.
Magic, Moonlight, and Murder is the third book in the paranormal cozy mystery series, Deepwood Witches Mysteries.
Shéa MacLeod has dreamed of writing novels since before she could hold a crayon. She totally blames her mother.
Her favorite poem as a child was ‘Jabberwocky’, and Her favorite authors were Agatha Christie and Edgar Allan Poe. Which probably explains a lot.
After a six year sojourn in London, England, a dearth of good donuts has driven her back to her hometown. She now resides in the leafy green hills outside Portland, Oregon where she indulges in her fondness for strong coffee, Ancient Aliens reruns, lemon curd, and dragons.
Because everything's better with dragons.
Shéa is the author of the SUNWALKER SAGA (a fast paced urban fantasy series with a kick-ass heroine published by Montlake) and DRAGON WARS (a post-apocalyptic series with dragons)as well as the Cupcake Goddess novelettes.
Magic, Moonlight and Murder is Veri's story. This time we have a murder, romance and a dragon in Deepwood. With Emory, Lene, Edwina and Mia's help they race to find out who is killing witches. The dragon is a great addition to Deepwood so it will be interesting to see how this plays out in the next and final book in the series.
Back to Deepwood! In this story we follow Veri, the owner of another Business in Deepwood. The curvy black woman is confident and a Mist Walker. The Story was less cozy than Book 1 and Book 2 and I missed the coven that set off that witchy mood in both. Again this book had great friendships, Edwina who I am particularly excited about and a dragon but I think a less logical mystery. Also, at the end, it wasn't really explained why Veri was so involved with this killer, which I personally didn't like that much. Nevertheless, I had another good time in Deepwood and will continue to read the other books.
A good read. Okay the ending could have been done better but all in all a good read. The portal witches are strong but she can't stop connecting with the serial killer that has been preying on people for years. Although strong and independent, this shakes her to the core. It feels as if she's the one doing the killing and that makes her feel dirty. Vane is the dragon king's assassin as sand has tracked the killer to this small community. However his meeting with the witch makes not only him but his dragon antsy. He's already been burnt once dealing with a witch. More deaths, strange gifts, rising feelings and a showdown. Will they stop the killer? Nicely paced until the end which compared to the rest of the read was an anticlimax. It was just too hurried and didn't give it the same detail as the rest.
This is the third book in the series and it was engaging as ever. The MCs were adorable and bringing in dragons was a really nice touch.
But... I missed the other characters of that world more. Lucien and Noah were not mentioned at all. Mia had moved in to Veri's at the end of the second book, yet no mention was made of that and why she didn't live there in book 3 or where she lived now. Edwina's involvement was sparse and when she was there, was kept on the sidelines. As the first two books were brimming with characters that supported the plot, I found that a bit of a downer, hence taking a star off.
But otherwise, it was still a great read and never got boring, so it's definitely great to read on its own.
Veri, sees a murder through the eyes of the murderer and he can sense her. He's killed a few witches and a Dragon shifter and now he's got his sights on Veri. She teams up with Vane a Dragon shifter to find him. This is a really nice book with a bit of romance added. I enjoyed reading it.
This series is very cute, and the characters are well done. The mysteries are interesting and well thought out. The books are meant to be short cozy mysteries with light cozy romance, so I normally don't judge the rushed nature of the characters falling for each other. This couple was just really poorly done though.
Don’t be fooled by the very cutesy cover on this book! It sure packs a punch!!! Book 3 in this series. Another great read. There are witches, dragons, and a nasty serial killer who sucks your life essence. Veri Laveau finally finds love. Recommend this book and this series.
These books have enjoyable characters and read really fast. The stories are clever and each one takes you deeper into this community of supernaturals. The latest additions are a dragon hero and a serial killer. The focus is on Veri. Enjoy!
Wow dragons and witches what a mix. Throughly enjoying this series have bought all books currently available and loving the character development and all the twists and turns need next book now. Enjoy
I really enjoyed this addition to the series. The story is kept fresh and interesting while giving you insight into each character. Really cute YA series.
