The Love I Deserve

Rate this book
“Sometimes, life forces you to take a detour. When you finally reach your destination, you’ll understand your journey.”Love is a fickle thing that can take your life on the least expected detours.

Creed Mason was learning that the hard way. Married to a woman who refuses to forget his past, he was burning himself out trying to prove that he was a changed man. Until he meets a woman who offers him the help he needs with healing, in more ways than one.

Kamaria Jones is living what she feels is her best life. Happily divorced, working a job she loves, and the existence of a much appreciated friend-with-benefits to take care of her sexual needs. Love is the furthest thing from her mind, but when she meets a man that is determined to infiltrate her heart, she’s forced to decide if she’s ready to give love another try.

Will Kamaria and Creed be able to handle the shifts in their atmospheres and give each other the love that they deserve?

This book was excellent! Kamaria and Creed's journey was an emotional one but, it was well worth the ride. These two were were not lookin' for love what so ever. Creed was stuck in a loveless marriage and Kamaria was enjoying the single life with no commitment. Cupid said, "Hold my arrow" because, he had other plans for them. Kamaria practically fell in love with Creed just from the sound of his voice and, when they finally met in person, it was instant love for the both of them. After getting injured during the playoffs, Creed hires Kamaria as his Physical Therapist. The attraction is instant but, they can't act on it because he's married. Lets talk about his marriage. Creed and Brook have been unhappily married for almost four years. During the course of their marriage, she made that man miserable. Scratch that, both of them made each other miserable. Creed married her out of guilt because he cheated and Brook refused to forgive him for the cheating. Even though he never cheated again, Brook just couldn't get past it and asked for a divorce. It was for the best. Trust me! Now that he's done with his marital woes, Creed and Kamaria are able to act on their attraction to each other and move forward with their relationship. But, their journey is not a smooth one. There are more than a few bumps in the road before they get to their HEA. Creed doesn't tell Kamaria that Brook is pregnant and Kamaria doesn't tell Creed she can't have kids. Oh, did I forget to tell y'all Brook was pregnant? Yeah, that heffa decided to drop that tea when she and Creed finalized their divorce. Whew chile, the drama! But, they persevered and got past all those bumps. Kamaria accepted CJ as if she gave birth to him and Creed assured her that not being able to have children wasn't a deal breaker for him. That's what I loved about this couple. They endured real life problems that we can all relate to. The Love I Deserve was another entertaining banger from Kay Shanee. I highly recommend it. Now, let me hop on over to Loving Him Through The Storm. I can't wait to see what's going to happen with Lexi and Landon.

I enjoyed Creed & Kamaria’s love story….The football player falls for his physical therapist….this couple went through their ups and downs and bumps in the road….but, they eventually got it right…..I have to say, this is the first story I’ve read by Kay with so many errors….her stories are usually a very smooth read….

Creed is King!

Miss Lady, this book here had me all in my feelings! Creed, was such a good man, with a pure heart; that wanted to find his "one". The way he aggressively pursued Kamaria was everything! There would be no running from Creed. Kamaria, had her ish together. Great job, home, etc., but when she met Creed, she knew she was in trouble. Their love was magnetic! I was teary a few times, as I could feel the words Creed said to Mari. I was so pissed at Brooke initially, then just felt sadness for her. This step out of your comfort zone, is a winner! Great story! 👍👍👍

The one.

Kamaria and Creed have quite the connection when they meet. Creed has to deal with bad decisions that define his present life. I'm surprised nobody picked up on the craziness of his ex during their marriage. Story has an easy flow and interesting supporting characters. Very Good read!

Another 5 star read

This book was so good. It tackles subjects that you don’t often see in romance books. I’m glad Kamaria and Creed found each other and got their happily ever after. I’m sorry Brooke didn’t get the help she needed. Mental illness is real and the author handled it in such a respectf and truthful manner. Great job!!!

Creed and Kamaria had such an amazing yet emotional story to be told! There were so many important real life issues that were addressed in this book and I loved how Kay Shanee told their story! When you find that one you just know and both Creed and Kamaria experienced loss in what they hoped to have been successful relationships. Those lessons prepared them for the journey of true everlasting love. My heart really did ache for Brooke. Depression is real and my heart goes out to anyone that may be suffering.

Brooke deserved better. She was depressed and having CJ just added a different depression.

The doctor had some nerve fr. Like how you call her out of her name and expect her to leave her man for you like the audacity!

Kamaria was so sweet and she deserved to experience motherhood. I loved that she got to be happy and experience true love.

Creed was him. He was a great dad and he fell first. He deserved true love too and happiness. The whole family and the story was good.

A few errors but nothing major.

OMG! This was beautiful!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Yes I was a sap with the crying and stuff, but this was a beautiful story. Postpartum is nothing to be played with and not to be taken lightly. I love the way the author implemented that. Creed was a very patient man. He took a lot, but he didn't let it break him. Kamaria really was his one. She fought it for as long as she could though. Eventually, she had to give it up. It was best for everyone that she did, and she couldn't be any happier. Great read!

Sooooo Good!!!

OMG, this book was SO GOOD! It was such an emotional journey to get Creed and Kamaria to a HEA, but oh, what a ride! I loved their intense chemistry from the very beginning. I loved that Creed and Malaria developed a friendship first. That Creed was so open and vulnerable with Kamaria from the start was surprising, but refreshing. Brooke was...all I can say is I wish Creed had taken his out before they married instead of falling on his sword spending years in misery. That said, Kamaria was a trooper through all the ex drama and I was glad their patience and perseverance paid off at the end. This was a great book and I can't wait to read Lexi and Landon's story!

Creed me please!!!!

When I say I literally read this book cover to cover in less than 4 hours because I couldn’t put it down! This book deals with depression, leaving your happiness in another’s hands, insecurity and above all second chances. While in the beginning slapping Brooke into the middle of next week was high on my list, I began feeling sadness for her. However that chemistry between Creed and Mari (in my Granny’s voice) made me warm! Definitely a page turner and Kay, you got another one!!

Until it's right

Creed certainly deserved real love. It was clear that his wife Brook had some mental issues going on. Creed was the too good to be true guy, so I didn't understand her problem with her man. Once Creed was injured and he met Kamaria , his new physical therapist, I knew it was going to be real. I was so happy when one of my fears did not manifest itself. Overall, this was a good story with some sad moments in the mix.

The Love I Deserve by Kay Shanee is about NFL player Creed Mason and physical therapist Kamaria Jones. Kamaria starts off being Creed’s physical therapist after a playoff injury. From the moment Kamaria hears his voice, something begins to brew. Creed is an alpha male but also a sweetheart, he is very serious about building a relationship with Kamaria. He lets nothing come between them, their chemistry is undeniable! I love that Creed chooses love and happiness despite what he has been through, he teaches Kamaria to do the same. This novel has both heart and heat!

Excellent

This book is all about deserving the love you truly desire. Creed is every women's dream man and Mari is very lucky. This book served the right amount of drama for an audience that would want something different than typical ratchet behavior( love ratchet behavior too). The HEA was just enough to keep me wanting more. On a serious note the book addresses without overly doing it some serious topics that need to be addressed in the African American community. Looking forward to reading more.

Very Good Book

This book was so good. Creed did didn't deserve to be treated the way he did by his ex wife Brooke. Brooke has some issues going on with her. Depression is nothing to be played with. I and glad you touched on the subject. Kamaria met Creed and fell for him. They both fell in love with each other. They deserve to be happy. Sorry for what happened to Brooke. Very good book.

The bomb 💣

K you really put your foot in this book! Once I started I couldn’t stop until I was finished. Creed and Brooke are unfortunately like a lot couples in the world, staying together knowing that they shouldn’t. They tried but if it’s not meant to be then it’s not going to work. Kamaria was a trooper and stuck by Creed through it all. I loved the two of them together. I did feel a little sorry for Ahmad but he knew what it was from the beginning. I wished Brooke would have gotten the help that she needed. That’s why mental health is so important and you did a good job shining a light on subjects people tend to shy away from. This is definitely a book I would recommend to others. Great job!

Every girls needs a Creed in their life

I really enjoyed this read knocked it out in 2 days and I enjoyed every bit of it. The level of vulnerability that Creed showed from the very beginning touched my heart. How he loved unapologetically I search of his one to win in the end will renew anyone’s faith in love.

My heart ached for Brooke her unhappiness on top of postpartum depression it’s a truth for so many women I love how the author shared this aspect of the story for the women who can’t speak for themselves.

Great read

Loved this story. I did not like Brooke... Like at all.. You done a traffic job at making me feel sorry for her but yet not liking her at the same time... I wasn't on the fence with it either... These were 2 strong distinct feeling that I felt concurrently. Not an easy feat to do...at all! Job well done missy!

Creed and Kamaria’s story was beautiful....it addresses so many areas we consider voodoo. Miscarriage, mental illness, loss, and a few more you can learn about when reading. However this did not deter their love which was deserved.

Read and enjoy!

Man I loved this book

It always is a good thing to see good people find the love that they deserve the connection could be felt between these two characters from their first phone call together. I was happy when things work themselves out and I definitely wasn't expecting that little surprise near the end with Brooke. There is nothing more sexy than a man who knows what he wants and fights tooth and nail to get it. All I can say is this was definitely an emotional story yet it was so good therefore I recommend you pick up a copy for yourself. .

Great read

This author just has the perfect mix of drama, romance and for this book even some heavy material. Depression is so real and not everyone who suffers knows how to overcome or address it. The way it affects family and friends is shown just as much as it’s impact on the one who suffers in this book. I love the way Kamaria and Creed come together. I’m also interested in Landon and Lexi!

Creed isn’t Main Man!

I love Creed. Creed is the type of character that you can’t help but root for. Just an all around good guy. I love the fact that once he set his sights on Kamaria, he did not waver. I was disappointed in her though. She demanded honesty but wasn’t so forthcoming herself. Overall, he was an enjoyable read.
