Iron Bones is the fourth book of the Dragon Wars series by Craig Halloran, and it is the most action-packed of the bunch I have read so far. This fantasy series is well-written, fast-paced, and perfect for the specific audience Halloran endeavors to address. The entire series is geared toward attracting a non-reading group of gamers of junior high school age that have a bend toward high fantasy.
That is not to say that readers of all ages do not find these books fascinating. In fact, I myself am a middle-aged man that finds these novels thrilling. This story of two blood brothers, one a very strong human named Dyphestive and the other an elf with particular skill as a cutpurse named Grey Cloak, has a way of keeping the reader entertained. There are way too-many characters at this point, and way too-many factions endeavoring to enlist the services of the brothers but still interest as to where the plot is going has not waned.
Here, Grey Cloak has been conscripted to the Sky Riders after supposedly falling in battle. He has spent the better part of the last book discreetly trying to find Dyphestive with the help of Talon. He has found his brother, and he must now reject the Sky Riders in order to free him, because it is clear that Dyphestive has changed to do things that he would never have done before joining the Black Frost army. Grey Cloak fears that he may already be too late to fend the corrupting influence of Black Frost.
This is an excellent series with two very well-defined main characters that clearly have more adventure to share. The villains are ample; their allies are numerous with varying fantasy tropes either affirmed or repelled. Rich in story and deep in action.

It's Not about me!
As I began to read Iron Bones, the fourth volume in Craig Halloran's "Dragon Wars" series, I was excited and eager to get right into the action. Suddenly, though, it occurred to me that this amazing series was *not* actually written for readers like me. While I know, without a doubt, that many adult readers like me were surely enjoying Halloran's excellent writing, we are not the target readership, this time. The "Dragon Wars" series was written primarily for teens and young adults.
So, without revealing plot spoilers, what what will young readers get by reading volume four, Iron Bones? They will see friendships, relationships, and teamwork. They will read about a very special inter-personal bond called "blood brotherhood." They will be reminded to never give up on a true friend. Additionally, they will learn about how diversity is extremely valuable when your team is in trouble and the chips are down.
All of us, of all ages, will get another great read from a top-notch author, Craig Halloran.
Strongly recommended!

Grey Cloak is learning to be a dragon rider on Gunder Island. Simultaneously, Dyphestive is being molded into a Doom Rider at Dark Mountain. Nonetheless, Grey Cloak strives to save Dyphestive from a life of deadly servitude to Black Frost.
This T&YA Coming of Age Fantasy is fascinating. This episode is more lively than its predecessors. Sometimes with deadly force. Catastrophe looms frequently. Eventually, this title ends with questions about the future. Overall, this tale is fascinating.
Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Haunting. Romantic. Scary. Tragic. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.

In this book Dy becomes Iron Bones because of amnesia. Its sad to read as Dy does things that he would never do including killing innocents.
I love with a capital L. G.C.'s dragon Streak. They are so perfectly matched. I can't wait to read more hijinks they get up to.
And what is the deal with Anya? I thought G. C liked Zora? I'm all confusd.
The gang has turmed into a battalion. New members are joining them constantly. I have to wonder how long Cotton will stick around now that Dy is back in the fold.

A wonderful,page-turning book four in author HALLORAN'S series...Humor,adventure,loyalty,evil,deception,and tragedy all play a part in this fast-paced Dragon-fest,and that makes it a RECOMMENDED read!

By the end of the book we have the 2 young men back together. Gray cloak has left the sky riders with a runt of a dragon . He will along with his blood brother move on to fighting on the good side. The Risker have left to try and destroy the Sky Riders along with Black Frost the gigantic Dragon.

When Evil and Good Look Like Each Other
Dyphestive and his elven blood brother, Grey Cloak, continue their struggles to reunite. Both held captive but each by opposite sides in the Dragon War. I recommend this book. It is a quick read with all the elements of good fantasy.

The Story Continues
These short books are killing me because I want to know what happens to our heroes. Another interesting chapter in the Dragon Wars. I hope in one of the books we get to see a drawing of Streak!!
