Alexander Iosifovich Nemirovsky (Александр Иосифович Немировский) - Soviet and Russian historian of Ancient Rome and Etruscan culture, teacher, poet, prose writer and translator. Author of over fifty books of poetry, historical novels, textbooks and scientific monographs. Doctor of Historical Sciences. Founder (and first head) of the Department of Ancient History and Ancient Languages, Voronezh State University. He was the first among Russian scientists to investigate the Nuragic culture of Sardinia and its connection with the Etruscans (his research in this area was continued by T.P. Katz).
