This wasn’t supposed to be in the cards for me, yet here I am, with not one but two mates. Lady Fate has a sick sense of humor that apparently rivals my own. Looks like it’s Present Cameron’s problem now. ~ Cameron
My near constant state of mind is worry. Can you blame me when I have two beautiful and amazing mates in my life? They’re quick to reassure me and with their help, just maybe I can learn to trust that Lady Fate knew what she was doing bringing us together. ~ River
I never imagined anything being as special as meeting River, until I met Cameron. River is my gentle giant, Cameron a sassy menace, and my heart is instantly charmed. They complete me while encouraging me to be the best version of myself. It’s easy to see why Lady Fate pushed us together. ~ Jace
This 32k mpreg story is book four in A Collection of Stays series. It’s filled with magic, learning to trust yourself, true mates and eyeliner covered sarcasm.
Toby Wise is a stay at home parent who hails from a tiny town in Wisconsin. Contrary to popular Wisconsin stereotypes, he’s not a cheese-head who enjoys beer but rather an introvert who spends all his time on the internet, drinking coffee, spending time with his kid, and cooing about his adorable cat, Pikachu.
In April of 2019, A Collection of Strays was born after the world of fanfiction drew him back into his love of writing. Now he’s writing all things omegaverse as long as it includes silly moments and found family.
Loved this... what a wonderful trio of men the author has given us for this book. Oh.. and it was sooooo much fun watching Cameron deal with having not just one fated mate, but two! One thing I have not mentioned in a review before is the author's world-building for this series. Loved the addition of "sparks" and what that means. As well as getting to see so many old friends, especially Star! Over all such a funny and sweet love triumvirate it was a true pleasure to read!
Trusting Fate is a charming and engaging story with sweet , endearing, fun and sexy heroes and a well rounded supporting cast of secondary characters . With plenty of hot , steamy and tender intimate times. Low on drama and with the right amount of angst . Written in a light hearted , feel good , romantic tone and feel.
Even though I haven't read other books the A Collection of Strays series, yet; and I know I am missing a lot of the background stories, it don't feel it impacts on me enjoying Cameron , River and Jace love story.
This was a sweet mmm mate story. Jace and River were two alphas who were already mated when they found out Cameron was their third. Cameron got on my nerves a little bit but overall it wasn't too terribly bad. These stories are low-angst and sweet. I'm looking forward to Rhett's story.
I think that this might be one of my favorites on the series.
Cameron has finally found his mates - that’s right, with an “s” because he has two! The serious River and the sweet Jace, two alphas who love each other very much but are missing their third.
There is some conflict with Cameron being afraid to acknowledge and use his powers. I loved how caring they were with Cameron and how patient.
Overall this was a very sweet story. I do wish there had been some more time spent on Cameron’s growth and overcoming his past. I enjoyed the lightheartedness of his family and his time spent with River and Jace.
Looking forward to the next book on the series!
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Oh woww, I saw fucking stars and lightning when the three of them become one. What a great story, I loved all of it.
When Jace and River arrived at the Burke pack they are both stunned when they find their fated third. Cameron is shocked when he eyes his true mates and gets angry and runs off. This can’t be happening! He is not a safe place, he can’t have a mate and certainly not two!
Three different shifters, all three with their baggage and history. Some did blur my eyes. Cameron has a special magical gift and oh boy that’s something! He has a very special surprise for his mates.
This story is a sizzling one, we get to know the three men, their characteristics and we are witnessing how they meld. Surrounded by awesome pack members they grow and expand. The whole pack is playful, comradely and protecting. Just how I like my pack. This was an awesomely written story, steamy hot and with a delightful positive vibe. And just like that, there is an opening to the next story of this series, awesome!
"I let out a sigh because I'd really like to say that's Future Cameron's problem. Too bad Future Cameron is now Present Cameron and Present Cameron doesn't have a f*cking clue."
Since book one in the Collection of Strays series by Toby Wise , I have felt like these characters are family. These books are filled with mushy shifter love, family jokes, mpreg and happily ever afters.
Trusting Fate is the story of Cameron , the token "human" of the family, finding not one but two mates of his own. Cameron has always been one of my favorite characters in this series because he just had the best timing with his one liners about "future Cameron". His life gets completely turned upside because he not only decides to stop fighting what he's always been but also decides to give the two alphas who want nothing but each other and to make him happy a chance.
I was hesitant with the MMM set up because its not one of my favorites but I enjoyed this with each mate having such different personalities. Cameron is sarcastic and a secret softy, Jace is lighthearted and playful, and River is more more serious and protective of his feelings. Cameron is afraid of hurting those he loves, River is afraid he is not good enough for his mates , and Jace does his best two show both that they are enough and loved. Jace is a great alpha for this trio because he brings lightness and laughter into situations where River is too serious and Cameron is being stubborn. Also His time re-connecting with Charlie was also adorable.
Trusting Fate is a splendid addition to the series and I look forward to the next one.
Here I am, reading a book with three people involved in a relationship just a few days after I read another one. What can I say, I was hyped about reading Cam's story, so I gave it a go. It was an interesting trio, all of them were able to complement the other and I loved it when I learned what their shifter form was. I would have liked a more detailed part about Cam's powers and how he finally accepts them, as I found it a little bit rushed and too simple.
Another great book in this series. I was very curious to get to know Cameron’s story. Both how he will get together with his mate(s) and his backstory. I really liked this book. Again great characters, that I just love, and the story was good too. However I did think it was a little too easy how Cameron got over his “problem”. Still loved this and I am looking forward to book number five a lot.
yes yes yes yes yes! finally.. omg i love this series so much and i love love love seeing each of these kids find their mates.. and this was perfection for me.. i love cameron so much!
"Trusting Fate" is another volume of "A Collection of Strays" series by Toby Wise I like very much. The biggest advantage of this part are undoubtedly the two alphas who are Cameron's mates. Why do I like about them so much? First of all, I love the fact that neither Jace nor River are "typical", stereotypical alphas, which we can find in most novels concerning shifters and mpreg. Jace and River are not some walking, talking and testosterone filled macho guys. In fact, in their case, we don't even feel that they are alphas. They are simply gentle, loving and loyal men who want to give love to their "one and only" and want their love to be reciprocated. They are truly wonderful.
In "Trusting Fate" I also liked the fact that we learn a few incredibly interesting things about Cameron, who, after all, is one of the main characters of this novel. From the very beginning we have known that he is unique, but it turns out that the secrets this incredible boy hides are so surprising that probably not many readers could guess what it is and who he is. I admit that while we really adored him from the beginning, now we love him even more.
In summary, "Trusting Fate" is a really good, interesting and surprising novel. I have no doubt that the fans of the series will love it, while new readers will be enchanted by Toby Wise's universe and extraordinary characters who are far from stereotypical. I really recommend this novel!
________________________________
„Trusting Fate” to kolejny tom bardzo lubianej przeze mnie serii „A Collection of Strays” autorstwa Toby Wise.
Przyznaję, że o ile od początku naprawdę go uwielbialiśmy, o tyle teraz kochamy go jeszcze bardziej.
Podsumowując, „Trusting Fate” to powieść naprawdę dobra, interesująca i zaskakująca. Fani serii z pewnością ją pokochają, zaś nowi czytelnicy będą oczarowani uniwersum Toby Wise oraz nietuzinkowymi bohaterami, którzy wymykają się szablonom. Polecam.
I have loved with series so far and am so happy that we get Connor's story after the cliffhanger we were left with at the end of book 3. Charlie's brother Jace turns up at the family home with his mate, River, and it turns out that they also have a third in Connor. Connor runs scared in fear of what he's capable off and not wanting to become close with anyone else who he may harm. Jace and River, both alpha's, want to be there for their partner but until he let's them in, there's only so much they can do apart from support each other and make sure Connor knows they are there for him, always. Jace and River are a wonderful addition to the series. River has demons in his past that Jace is so good at caring for and accepting of the way he is- reserved, quiet, will not shift. Jace is the perfect care giver, wanting to make sure they all have what they need/want. Connor is adorable and has been so much fun to read in the previous books without knowing the heartbreak that he experienced as a child. His friends and family really help him to open up to the chance at his HEA. The story moves along quickly but it's still filled with good relationship development and we get to know the three main characters well whilst still interacting with the established family characters and meeting a couple of new people who may possibly pop up in the next book or two..... I adore the large family and the dynamic they have amongst them all. They are so welcoming to newcomers whilst still protective of those who they love although not afraid to push when needed when they are in their own way of their happiness. The story leaves you wanting more for Rhett and his person after what happens between them! A great addition to the series and excited for book 5! A wonderful shifter/magical community series with mpreg, romance and HEAs I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
We finally get to Cameron's story. Present Cameron is meeting Future Cameron head on and with a mate complication he never truly expected. He'll need two alphas to ground him, but only if he allows himself to need them. Both Jace and River have a hurdle to get over and what they couldn't have anticipated would be that the hurdle is actually their third himself.
I wish there were more of each of the men, especially River. I felt that aside from Cameron's need to grow, to soften, and to accept himself for all that he is, River was the one who was the biggest mystery. His trauma was sufficiently big and not enough attention was given to it, I felt, and his evolution where he finds peace isn't really shown aside from an incredibly sweet scene where he and Cam cuddle in a cupboard.
And what Cameron is...that's pretty intriguing all on its own. I definitely wanted more of what he is, what they do, why they are, and the implications for his purpose. Grounding him with two mates was definitely necessary and I loved how that was shown, I just wanted more.
Seeing Cam's soft side and how he truly connected all three of them together was absolutely wonderful. I think the story really would have benefitted from being longer. It's always tricky with a triad because there's a whole other perspective that needs as much page time as the others for the audience to really connect with and to understand them. I liked them all, but only felt truly connected to Cam because he was a presence in all the other stories. All three men needed more page time because I wasn't really ready to let them go by the end.
Trusting Fate is the fourth book in the Collection of Strays series by author Toby Wise. This is my first time reading this series. I was not lost. I did not feel like this was a series already in progress either. I love that. The pov in this book is a little different it is Tri Pov. I liked it for this three some. I think when you bring another character into an established relationship it is good to get into his head and really get to know them. I felt all the characters in this story were necessary. It can be hard with a trio to make all the personalities work; this book does a brilliant job of making all the men essential. Jace he is going to see his big brother. It has been a few years, so he is super nervous. Jace is the worrier. He likes things to be perfect and cares a great deal about those in his life. He is Alpha but he doesn’t let that define him. His mate is River. River is a serious, dry sense of humor. And tends to be grumpy. He saves all his laughter and smiles for Jace. I loved this character. He is the glue that keeps everything together. He too is Alpha. Cameron is a pierced, tattoo free-spirited Omega. He is also something more. He is their third. He has a ton to come to terms with in his own life before he can join in with anyone else. Watching him evolve makes me want to read more about this series. Overall, I loved this story. I felt very connected to all the characters and I want more from them in the future. I will be looking for more from this series and catching up on what I missed.
What a great addition to the Collection of Strays saga. I loved it! All our old friends are here. They pulled me back into their lives from the first pages, welcoming me home. I read it in one sitting. Kicked out of their pack for being two mated alphas, Jace & River find acceptance with Jace's brother's pack. They never expect to find their "third", their other mate. Cameron has a secret. He's a spark, full of magic he can't control. Why would Lady Fate saddle him with two mates? He doesn't even want one! River is a gentle giant, a shy worrier. Jace is outgoing and social. Snarky, sassy, blunt, outspoken Cameron is just what they need in their lives. As Jace & River set about wooing Cameron, he struggles to control his magic. A little help from caring family & friends, and a magic potion will lead our trio to HEA. Past, Present & Future will be united at last. Did I mention a magic baby? You will love this book! As the story flows from one book to the next, I recommend reading the first three books in order. It is time well spent. I cannot wait for book 5! This book contains adult themes and language, mmm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Tomorrow Cameron's problems have finally come calling. Only thing is, perhaps they aren't as bad as Cameron imagines them to be. Our fears rarely are, after all.
In this installment of, A Collection of Strays, the family I have come to love so much in the almost year since I first met them, is getting ready to take in two more. Alpha Charlie's younger brother Jace and his mate River have come to live with the pack.
Surprises and discoveries are made which send Cameron running from the house seeking solace and advice from his best friend. Fears and trauma instilled from childhood run deep in Cam. It will take patience, time, humor, and love only fated mates can understand to bridge the gap needed for this HEA.
Toby Wise writes the sweetest stories filled with the love of family and friends and enough humor to get through the tough moments so you aren't too sad to enjoy the happy moments all around you. I am always smiling when I reach the end of one of these books and Cameron growing up and getting his little family and coming to terms with who and what he was made my heart happy.
Thank you, Toby!💖
4 heart-happy-stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.💋
To my ratings: A 3,5* is clicked with a 4* but in review marked as 3,5*:
5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-Away-book like ‘Jesse's Smile’ or ‘Joey’ from Angelique Jurd, ‘Save the the kids’ series from EM Leya, ‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or ‘Liberty’ from Seth King), it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often reread and is a WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises (like most of Andrew Grey books and Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series) it's like an A
3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few times (most romances where you can enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in hospitals). I can recommend them definitively! It's like an B+
3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader (2-3 times a year), it's like a B
2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-reader (I wouldn't recommend it heartily, but it was ok) It's like a C-, D
1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an absolute NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole line, dismissed, repeat the class
This story wastes no time getting rolling. River and Jace no sooner arrive at Jace's brother's house looking for their new pack home than they meet their third mate Cameron. Cameron has a secret, however, and promptly flees. When he tells his best friend Wyn that he intends to remain alone and fight becoming anyone's mate, Wyn asks him what he will do when he can't hold to that intention and Cameron says that is a challenge for his "future" self. You just have to laugh at that point, because you know with this author it is going to be a wild, fun ride watching Cameron meet that future much more quickly than he intends and lose the fight to remain alone in a positive, life affirming way. This is not a book or series to choose if you want dark, tortured main characters. Yes, there are challenges of regaining feelings of self-worth and secrets to reveal and accept, but there is always love, humor, security and all kinds of good, positive vibes underlying everything. You can trust this series to make you feel good and hopeful about life and happily afters. with fated mates and wonderful families.
After a terrible accident, Cameron locked his gift with a formula found in a grimoire. Locked away until he meets his mate or in his case mates. Something he has no intention of finding.
Unless Lady Fate gets involved. In this book, there are River & Jace, 2 alpha mates. Jace is Charlie's little brother (pops) after mated an alpha, his father banishes him and so he and his alpha end up at Pops where they meet their third party.
They will try to woo him, but with River's insecurity and Cameron's great fear, it won't be an easy path.
THIS BOOK IS FILLED WITH emotion, vulnerability, insecurity, and hope.
“I need your help,” I whisper....
I can feel my skin begin to crawl. I finally look up into Star’s eyes, only to find her smirking. “That hurt?”
Awww, Sometime asking for help is the biggest step to take. I almost cry at his vulnerability.
The sexy scenes are written to perfection: electric, scorching hot and blowing bulb.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book but it goes live tomorrow!
I found this book to be quite different than the rest in this series. It just felt really quick. I think this was due to the MMM and because it is a quick read and fated mates I felt like we didn't really get to see a lot of the relationship building that makes MMM really great.
I also felt like this one was incredibly serious when the humor is my favorite part of the others so that was sad for me but it felt very Cam appropriate to have a serious moody attitude.
Overall, I'd say this was my least favorite in the series so far but that doesn't mean it wasn't a good solid story that features a really awesome shifter family.
- an MMM shifter romance! wolf x rabbit x spark, instalove, found family, MPreg! - oh Cameron :( it’s okay boo we got you!! - i love River and Jace so much, they’re so sweet together - their first time and Cameron wants both of them inside of him?? CHILL BABE - well that’s one way to get pregnant, go off king 😂 - there was 0 third act conflict lmao i was hoping the dickhead dad would make a reappearance - loved the birth! it all was very heartwarming - we should of seen them shift for the first time!! that would of been such a good moment - ALL I WANT IS NESTING IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK - hehehe that epilogue was v exciting - i still really loved this one but felt v surface level compared to the others
First let me state that I am rarely a fan of 1st person POV. This series, however, I absolutely adore. It's impossible not to fall in love with the characters, you want them happy, you want them to succeed. This is the series I choose to read when I want to have a smile on my face. When I discovered this one had been published, I dropped everything I was meant to be doing so I could curl up and read it. As with previous books in the series, this one did not disappoint, and I eagerly await the next instalment. If you want something relatively light to read, I heartily recommend this series.
Our loveable little imp must step up, and it's a exciting ride... Cameron is as always a mischievous little monster up to his shenanigans, but we also get to see a part of him that he always tries to hide. Jace is the grounding stone, he's always there to support and encourage his mates. River is the caregiver, and really just needs lost of cuddles. This book hits on insecurities and fears that each mate has, but shows that through love mates can get over these obstacles together. I'm really enjoying this series and I can't wait to see what is in store for Rhett....
I’m so happy that Cameron finally found his mates. What I really love about the three of them is how well they complete each other. I absolutely love River, insecurities and all.
I was a little surprised at how easy it seems for Cameron to open up about his powers, since he has been so scared to share with anyone what he was in the past.
I really enjoyed this story. It was super sweet with moments of seriousness, a few chuckles here and there, and some steamy moments. I'm excited there's going to be more in the series.
I have been waiting for Cameron’s book and I can say I was not disappointed. This is such a great addition to the collection of strays series. You will fall in love with all the characters. I love how River is the Worrier Alpha and Jace is the Happy go lucky Alpha. With the tension of Cameron not wanting to be his true self and finally coming to terms with it and allowing Lady Fate to give him the gift of his mates, this story plays out with so much love built in. I cannot wait for the next in the series! Worth way more than 5 stars!
I loved this sweet, feel-good story. MMM stories where all three partners have equal strengths (not just a duo plus one) are one of my favorite tropes. This is such a fun, low angst story. There are challenges, some insecurities, secrets, and worries, but the story remains upbeat as the trio work through those challenges and find love comfort, and home. I loved the moments if humor, snark, and stubbornness. The characters are great and the love is oh so sweet. I look forward to more in this series,
I received an ARC and voluntarily leave this honest review.
I love this series and books by Toby Wise, they are so light and fluffy with a good dose of feelings.
Cameron, Jase and River were really good together. I loved how they complement each other. Cameron is is usual snarky goodness and I loved it. A few laugh out loud moments, as well as a tone of heat and some ooohs sprinkled in for good measure.
Overall another great book in this series. Can be read as a standalone, but better read after at least a couple of the others to get it all
It's so hard to give this one three stars because I absolutely love this series. But I felt like this book needed more. The relationship aspect seemed to build extremely fast, I would have liked to see it slow down a bit and them really get to know each other.
Cameron the token human of the family ends up finding he has not one but two alpha mates. But Cameron has been hiding something. In order to truly embrace his mates he has to embrace who and what he is. I really like how Jace and River take care of cam and fit with the family.
I've been impatiently waiting for Cam and his guys. I was not disappointed. There was definitely a little drama and angst but I expected nothing else from Cam. I was so pleasantly surprised by Cam's sweet side with his mates. River and Jace were the perfect balance for him and so sweet. Together the three were adorable and incredibly hot. I would absolutely recommend this book and the rest of the series as well and cant wait for the next.
You know as snarky as Cameron is one mate wouldn't be enough. And Lord did he get the perfect pair of alphas. Add in the fact that the author doesn't keep to stereotypes and the nature of their fur skins we get the full affect of the world Tony Wise has created. As an added bonus we get a sneak peek of the next book. Now you know there are going to be all kinds of sparks with Wyn and Rhett. I can't wait for it.
