A century-old dome city clings like a scab to a dead world. Inside, a hundred thousand souls yearn for release. Will the truth set them free or seal their fate?

Cytocorp pitched the Dome Project as a way to protect America’s best and brightest from the rapid advance of a deadly drought. When they lost contact with the outside world, all they could do was wait and hope. But four generations later, Dome Six is still waiting, and hope, like everything else, is in short supply.

Owen Welsh is a Technician’s Apprentice, trying to keep the Dome humming under the watchful eye of his uptight adoptive mother, Tosh. When her unhinged brother, Hideki, draws him into his obsession with a seemingly insane theory, he quickly finds himself on the wrong side of the law.

As accidents and malfunctions pile up, Hideki’s conflict with the ruling Authority escalates. While the noose tightens around his uncle, Owen learns they’ve all been caught in a web of lies. But who’s spinning it and why?

When unlikely allies join Owen’s cause, they enter into a desperate race to save Hideki’s life and get out of the Dome before it crumbles on top of them. Will new clues point the way out before it becomes their tomb?

Dome Six: Book 1 of the Cytocorp Saga is a high-concept, fast-paced, engrossing dystopian adventure with influences from The Island to Logan’s Run and 1984. If you’re intrigued by how technology shapes society, read WIRED or Futurism, and enjoy documentaries like The Social Dilemma, you will devour Dome Six. I write cinematic sci-fi of substance. What does that mean?

My love of writing came from reading, of course, but my love of story really came from movies. Expect smart characters and short chapters that move along at a cinematic pace. I like intricate, plausible stories that reward careful readers without alienating those who just want to kick back and escape this messed-up world for a while.

I currently have two series: Reassembly, a humorous space opera with six books, and a dystopian trilogy, The Cytocorp Saga. I expect to release the first book in a new sci-fi series sometime in mid 2026.

I currently live in Ecuador.

this is amazing I started with the prequel then bought this

After I read the technician, I read the bonus chapters. Then I bought it. I’ve been waiting for something similar to Logan’s run for a long time. The dome was supposed to be their salvation. But they found a well hidden lie. I could hardly put it down. You won’t regret this one.

This is an absolutely engrossing story that combines futuristic, dystopian settings with a strong cast of characters you believe in. The secrets and mysteries that swirl around are well fleshed out that you want to have the whole series; this prologue gives the series to come high hopes of succeeding. Highly recommended.

A great dystopian sci-fi book made for adults. No mushy love story mixed in just terrific storytelling. You will become endeared to all the characters and the story is fast paced. So clear your day when you start this. This is book one of a three part series.

Very, very nicely constructed and tightly woven. No plot twists or other shenanigans, yet many surprises. Dystopian, without question, yet a very futuristic yarn with a bit of Sci-Fi–that's probably inevitable, yet it isn't just patched in; James has used some futuristic agricultural, biological, political, and sociological conditions to meld and weld a chilling and plausible theme that is both engaging and disturbing.

The characters are fully-formed, even to the point of acting against the flow of James' storyline, yet he doesn't hesitate to allow them their idiosyncrasies. He even allows them to interfere with the objectives of friend and foe–to say nothing of thwarting the interest and yes, hopes, of an engaged reader–and increase the challenges of life of "residents" of Dome Six.

This isn't a typical "Preppers vs Zombies" (they get nasty-mouthed if I call them "Preppies"!); nobody in Dome Six is invulnerable, not even the elite who have ultimate authority over the people. Be careful who you get attached to: circumstances are getting grim, and some of the nicest folks–some real heros–are getting chewed up and turned under. But that isn't the worst of it!

Worst of all, I don't have the sequel, and it hasn't been finalized … and the airlines are starting to ban emotional support pets … what's a fellow to do?

The author has done a nice job with his world and character building in this novel, the first I’ve read by him. It’s an easy to read and follow story that drew me in before I even realized it, I was at the end of the book. Definitely looking forward to more from this author. It’s marketed under teen and young adult and it is very appropriate for that age range or anyone older.

One of a series, this book covers a period in 2064 where everyone lives together and work at their assigned jobs. This author masters the adventure and secret nature of Dome 6 by presenting us with believable characters and circumstances. It’s easy to read and follow the storyline. Thanks for a god story!

Everything is the same, nothing is new or different. Living under the “Authority” is constant with no change possible. Our hero is a repairman with a wonderful family, preparing to become an empty nester. Then something strange happens, life becomes suddenly exciting…

Life is monotonous for the inhabitants of dome six. Every day is the same as the day before it.
Only Hideki can’t move on from the unexplained disappearance of his and his twin sister, Toshiko’s parents twenty years ago. Unexplained to Dek’s satisfaction that is.
They were told by the administration that they had succumbed to dome fever and died while trying to find a way out through a processor. Both Dek and Tosh know that this is likely untrue.
After his father mysteriously died, Owen was assigned Tosh to be raised by her. This has helped Tosh push the questions about her parent’s demise to the back of her mind.
This need for answers that the administration won’t give him lands Dek in trouble.
This is a fast paced, exciting novel full of twists and turns that follow Dek and Tosh and their friends through various discoveries.
This is a book that I would heartily recommend to anyone who likes this genre. Bring on Book 2 “Into the Burn”.

I just finished reading the book and thought it was excellent. Very believable characters with relatable forces that drove them. C.P. James has created a living breathing world that one can easily imagine, he is a master of discerption. I don't continue many series (maybe its a flaw of mine) but this book held my interest all the way through and I am interested to see where the author takes it, so I might pick up book two in the near future.

I also enjoyed the short chapter lengths and how James keeps the plot moving with very little downtime while still managing to flesh out the characters and give them each unique personalities.
5 stars, recommended to anyone who likes gritty sci-fi taking place in an urban environment with a sinister vibe.

Dome Six is without a doubt a must-read book full of mystery, twists, and turns!

While the book is clearly dystopian (appropriate for older YA audiences and adults), the element of mystery in the book was intriguing and stole the spotlight. Dek, Owen, Tosh, and co. are highly intelligent characters who aren't afraid to see the truth and investigate. And that curiosity takes them on a dangerous ride.

There is so much to love about this book, and I will absolutely be recommending it to anyone who enjoys sci-fi or dystopian books. I can't wait to see what the rest of the series has in store!

End is better than the beginning

As a whole I really liked this book. I am looking forward to the next one. I wish the beginning had started like it ended. It was actually quite good.

I'm all for books with story lines which require knowledge I lack to fully appreciate. I've learned a good deal throughout the years. This book was difficult in the beginning especially. Perhaps I do not have a good enough grasp of the overall subject but it was very difficult for me to understand the technical jargon. Furthermore, at least at the end of book 1, the knowledge was not even necessary to understand the story.

Fresh, new take!

This books has been very refreshing to read! The author encapsulated the idea he had and transformed it into something I could potentially see as a show! The fact that everything melded well, kept you wanting to read and understand what was going on in Dome Six! The building and tension between the characters, along with the reveal at the end is extremely refreshing to read! Keep up the good work!!!!!

Highly recommend giving this book a read and form your own opinion!!

Dome Six: A Dystopian Adventure
C. P. James

A new Dystopian novel with a twist

CP James writes books that keep you enthralled from Start to Finish. This book give a fresh look at the Dystopian storyline, with characters that are well drawn, a plot that gallops along without pause and leaves you wanting more. I read this book in one sitting always a sign of a really good book.
Undoubtedly another best seller and deservedly so.

So much better than expected

It's rare to find a book that starts with a glossary and still manages to keep you intrigued. I was honestly surprised and delighted how well it worked. The story itself is fascinating and full of action and mystery. I don't know where book two will take us but I can't wait to find out.

He created a dystopian world that could be a real real world some day. The characters are well written and help move the story along, it makes you think about exactly what would the people who are closest to you would do to survive.

Dome six is a hundred years old and holds all of humanity. Or so they believe. Life is strictly regimented, but some people suspect they are not being told the truth . As some of them escape, the dome is destroyed by explosive charges. The group meets a man who doesn't even believe that Dome Six held people.

Wonderful read! Reminds me a little of "Wool" by Hugh Howey, but more twists and turns to keep the reader entertained. Dome Six blends in multiple types of opposite human nature; the need to sacrifice others to get what you want/need and the need to save others at your own peril.

Sooo Goood!!!

Can't wait to get started on "Into the Burn"!

I had trouble getting into this. I could only do 5-10 pages at a time, I almost gave up. However once I got to the last 125 or so pages it got my attention. I started the second book right away, which I already have higher hopes for.

C.P. James has done it again this book is a follow on from the Technician which was a great new take on how life can survive after it all goes bang, in this book he continues to introduce you to the key characters and their fight against the authorities in their dome. This book has all you need to keep you reading love, hate, death, and all in-between you will not want to stop once you have started to read I did not can't wait for my next fix from the dome.
